Divine Chieftess Adina of the Heavenly Court is one of the main antagonists (alongside Vox and Roo) in Hazbin Hotel: Journey to the Light.
She is a minor antagonist of Chapter 5 and the main antagonist of Chapter 5.5/Holy Hell, as well as the "final boss" of the series.
She was the highest-ranking angel of the Heavenly Court and stood as the Divine Chieftess of Justice and Purification during her time, making her one of the most powerful and respected angels in Heaven. She was also responsible for managing the dubious prayers made by humans and was a benefactor and leader of the Exterminators.
Born to the Chief of Justice in Heaven, Adina was raised in a strict and pious family that instilled in her the doctrine that even a single drop of sin could taint a soul irreparably. Her early, blissful life was shattered during the War in Heaven when her family was killed, leaving her orphaned at a young age. Despite being taken in by the loving and kind Seraphim, Adina's grief and hatred consumed her. Disillusioned by her unanswered prayers for the eradication of sin, a bitter Adina convinced herself that God was testing her, and that to pass this "divine trial", she would need to seize her own destiny. After inheriting her father’s position, she resolved to eliminate sin by any means necessary, convinced that this was the path to eternal holiness and a place by God’s throne in the Empyrean.
Corrupt, straight-laced, and whimsically wicked, Adina might have the face of a heavenly angel, but she was hellbent on purging Creation of everything she deems "imperfect", and remaking it into a dystopia as the ultimate tribute to God, with her right-hand-turned-collaborator Fitch by her side and the use of dark angelic magic to manipulate the minds of the populace of Heaven to ensure their loyalty or apathy.
Biography[]
Background[]
Close to the inception of Heaven, Adina was born to the Chief of Justice in Heaven. She and her family - consisting of her father, mother, and two sisters - were loving, but deeply strict angels who believed that even a single drop of sin could completely corrupt one's soul. Her father instilled these beliefs deeply in her.
Like all angels, Adina lived happily and harmoniously with her fellow angels and family, that was, until the War in Heaven erupted when Adina was merely a child. During the war, Adina's entire family was killed, leaving her orphaned.
In the aftermath, as she found herself crying in the ravaged streets of Heaven, she was comforted by the young Seraphim princess, Sera, who took her into the Seraphim palace. Sera and Seraphiel treated Adina like one of their family, giving her a home and love, but her hatred for sin and desire for vengeance clouded her mind and blinded her to their kindness. In the aftermath of the war, Adina agreement in her father's "one drop" proclamation was only strengthened, seeing Lucifer, once the purest of angels, turn against God and his own kind due to his pride.
Every night following her families' death, Adina prayed fervently for various things, the most noteworthy being sin to be eradicated from Creation, but none of her prayers were answered. This left her angered, bitter, and intensely envious, watching humans and other angels have their prayers answered while she received nothing. Little did Adina know at the time, what she truly wanted in her heart was to not be alone, and this desire - or prayer - was answered when Seraphiel and Sera took her in, though she was too blinded by wrath to realize this.
However, Adina came to her own conclusion that God was testing her, and to pass, she would have to seize what she wanted with her own hands. Once she inherited her father's position, becoming the Chieftess of Justice and Purification, essentially the leader of the Heavenly Court, she resolved to spite everyone by fulfilling her own desires and ultimately destroying all sin by force as the ultimate solution, and be rewarded for her patience and "virtue" by joining God in his Empyrean in eternal joy and holiness.
Adina's first act as Chieftess was destroying Earth cities Sodom and Gomorrah for their sinfulness. This earned her the foreboding nickname "The Heavenly Flame that Razed Sodom and Gomorrah" by other angels.
Later, Adina became acquainted with Azrael, an archangel of the Morningstar family, giving the Archangel advice on how to be "respected" by Heaven's denizens. The two worked closely together, with Adina using her connections to silence any opposition to Azrael's reign. The two brainstormed together on pitching an annual Extermination to both Lucifer and Heaven's higher-ups.
While Lucifer agreed to the cleanse (on the condition that he and his family were pardoned from the slaughter), it took more effort to convince Heaven's authorities. Azrael and Adina warned the higher-ups about a potential uprising of the Root of Evil if Hell's numbers continued to increase, especially with Lilith emboldening her subjects to sin and reject Heaven. Their fear mongering tactic worked and Adina and Azrael went on to establish an army known as the Exorcists.
At some other point, Adina became involved with a sinner known as Fitch, with him becoming indebted to her. Breaking an unspoken rule among high angels, she made a deal with a sinner (albeit one that was in her favor) allowed Fitch to live with her in Heaven's Courtroom, becoming somewhat attached to him the way one becomes attached to a stray pet. She had Fitch carry out assassinations and perform mental tasks around the courtroom, keeping hims secluded so their illegal deal could remain a secret.
Events of Hazbin Hotel: Journey to the Light[]
Chapter 5[]
In "What's Up, Heaven?", Adina is watching over the denizens of Heaven through white orbs from Heaven's Courtroom, whimsically flying through the air to each orb and making sly and derogatory comments on the denizens' activities while giggling. Her scrying is interrupted by a visit from Azrael and Lute. The archangel informs Adina that they have recovered Charlie's Angels and returned them to Heaven. Adina is amused by the idea of mere angelic children (who she dubs the "Children of Light") finding their way into Hell and has a laugh at it.
Upon hearing Lute's concerns about the children potentially being corrupted by demons while they were lost in Hell, Adina briefly muses over purging the children, though she opts to let Azrael see if he can correct them. Through Azrael and Lute's report, Adina hears of the Hazbin Hotel and its intentions to redeem sinners. She is disgusted and offended by what the hotel stands for, declaring her unshakable belief that the only way to "save" the damned is to destroy their souls. Her fears grow upon recalling that Lucifer's daughter is at the helm of the project.
Adina declares her and Azrael's intention to destroy the hotel and its inhabitants, cheerfully declaring that it is the will of the Lord. Adina indulges in a melodic musical number revolving around her corrupt beliefs, bragging about the demons she has erased and cleansed in tribute to God, or sometimes just for no apparent reason at all. The end to her song is capped off by Azrael going on an overly-long, self-indulgent guitar solo, until Adina calmly requests him to stop while her hands are clasped in a prayer.
In "Hell 2 Heaven", Adina briefly interacts with Charlie's Angels as they peruse Heaven and its wonders. While telling them to enjoy their stay and refrain from causing any trouble, Adina puts her hand on Manco's head, which allows her to read his mind for but a moment, seeing everything he has witnessed while the child is none the wiser. After this, Adina rhetorically asks Manco if he happens to know the whereabouts of Heaven's Light, and Manco nervously says he doesn't. Knowing he is lying, Adina just stares at Manco with a smile, saying nothing before leaving.
Adina leaves, and despite her subtly warning them not to, the children tells another group of young saints of the hotel, and word quickly spreads across Heaven itself of the hotel and its intentions, with many angels supporting the hotel and willing to fight for it (provided the sinners within are completely reformed), while a select few view it as an "abomination".
Later in Hell, while Charlie is on top of the Hazbin Hotel, gazing up at Heaven and trying to let go of the eight angels and accept that they are in a much better and safer place, an astral projection of Adina very suddenly appeared behind the Princess, cheerfully greeting the startled demon princess. Adina tells Charlie that the children are doing great in Heaven before looking around at Hell, making passive-aggressive comments about its state.
Realizing her chance, Charlie tries to explain her hotel to Adina when the angel comments on it, but Adina makes it clear that she is very aware of Charlie's hotel and politely tries to tell the princess that an accord between Heaven and Hell will never be reached as it is in the nature of demons to oppose everything good and noble. Being rejected by yet another higher angel leaves Charlie feeling more defeated than Adina realizes.
Adina, however, offers Charlie an accord; sensing Charlie's angelic heritage, Adina tells Charlie that she is "different" from the other demons in Hell, and that she is possibly worthy of residing in Heaven. Adina offers to guide Charlie towards the path of Heaven and "purify" her, removing her of all her demonic traits. Charlie thinks it over, telling Adina that she would love to become an angel, but has concerns about losing all the traits that make her who she is. Adina tells Charlie that demons cannot go to Heaven if they are sinful, and while Charlie would be essentially a different person, it is for the greater good.
After some contemplation, Charlie politely rejects Adina's offer, since Hell is her home and she had promised to stay with her friends until they are helped and reformed. Adina's tone darkens as she giggles, saying she expected Charlie's pride to get the better of her, being the daughter of the Sin of Pride. After telling Charlie that her hotel will change nothing, Adina says she has one more thing to discuss before leaving, and says that she wants the Light of Heaven returned to its home.
Charlie is obviously reluctant to give Lux up, but Adina says that Heaven's Light is the property of Heaven and rightfully belongs to the angels. Overhearing this, Lux appears and angrily tells Adina off, offended and heart-broken by being referred to as mere "property". Seeing the new state of Heaven's Light, Adina accuses Charlie of corrupting light itself, and threatens to brings the rage of the heavens upon Hell and blow the Inferno to Kingdom Come. Adina cheerfully taunts Charlie that in her efforts to bring peace between Heaven and Hell, she has now brought on a war between them. Adina's projection then abruptly vanishes.
Holy Hell[]
In "See You in Heaven", Adina is introduced while Saint Peter, Sera, and Serenity were touring a Joe - new winner - around Heaven. Adina's response to Joe is marked by slight irritation, as if troubled by the ease with which humans are admitted into Heaven, disregarding Azrael's stringent regulations. She dismissively acknowledges Joe before issuing an unsettling caution against sinning, casting a eerie, ear-to-ear smile his way before resuming her observation of Heaven through her mystical orbs.
Later at night, Adina relaxes in a large bathtub, taking part in a bubble bath. At peace and unbothered, she demonstrates her magical abilities by turning a floating bubble into a toy version of a sinner, proceeding to reenact herself exorcising the sinner all while adopting a mocking high-pitched voice to imitate the sinner. She is interrupted by Fitch, her right-hand man, to which she abruptly switches from her mischievous demeanor to one of surprise and grace as Fitch informs Adina that Sera has arrived for a meeting Adina had proposed earlier. Adina quickly dons a holy robe and prepares to meet Sera.
Upon greeting Sera in the Great Hall, Adina invites Sera to tea as they discuss the prior, contentious decision regarding the cancellation of the annual cleanse for sinners. Adina confronts Sera about her decision, expressing skepticism and disapproval of Sera's willingness to consider redemption for sinners instead of annihilation. Their differing ideals become apparent as Adina advocates for a strict approach to dealing with sinners, while Sera, swayed by Serenity and Charlie, believes in offering redemption as a possibility.
As tensions grow, Adina implies that Sera is being manipulated by her interactions with both Serenity and Charlie, and warns the seraphim princess of the potential consequences of her decision and giving sinners the benefit of the doubt. Sera eases some of Adina's doubt by saying that the cleanse will be reinstated if Charlie's redemption plan fails, but remains resolute in trusting Charlie.
Adina begins bitterly singing to Sera, expressing feelings of betrayal and frustration. She judges Sera for trusting demons and abandoning their previous agreement to never negotiate with demons. Adina mockingly asks Sera if she knows the challenges of leadership and the consequences of her decisions, emphasizing the difficulty of being alone, responsible for the consequences, and not having "daddy" to hold her hand. Adina sarcastically remarks on the situation, ominously and mockingly warning Sera that Heaven will crumble under her leadership, telling the seraphim not to come crawling back to her when she is right. Adina then teleports away, leaving Sera with her thoughts on Heaven's changing order.
In "Livin' on a Prayer", Adina is arranging her wood-carved model of Heaven, only satisfied when placing her figurine above everyone else. She then steps out of Heaven's Courtroom, only to be met by a crowd of distressed angels and winners, questioning why their prayers remain unanswered after Heaven's prayer system has become broken.
Utilizing her ethereal singing voice, Adina employs a strange, angelic enchantment on her voice to soothe the crowd with a melodic song. Once tranquility is restored, she returns to the Courtroom, greeted by Fitch, her trusted aide. With a serene yet patronizing demeanor, Adina advises Fitch to confine himself to the secluded west wing, considering his sinful nature and her not wanting him to be seen. With a simple gesture, she summons the cherub Tory to fetch Serenity and Saint Peter to the Courtroom.
Serenity arrives at Adina's courtroom, accompanied by Saint Peter (with Tory secretly staying behind and watching them out of curiosity) While Adina appears delighted to see them again, Serenity maintains a polite facade, concealing her lack of enthusiasm at seeing Adina. Adina showers both with compliments, particularly doting on Saint Peter, whose doubts dissipate in the face of Adina's adulation.
She adopts an excessively saccharine demeanor towards Peter, however, Serenity remains unaffected by Adina's exaggerated praises. Together, Serenity and Saint Peter bring to Adina's attention the issue plaguing Heaven's prayer system, highlighting the breakdown in prayer responses. Serenity tells Adina that humanity will not be able to last long without angels around to perform miracles, acknowledging her role in managing the prayer distribution.
Adina happily says she is glad they asked, the prayer system being the reason behind their summoning. She resolves to unveil the workings of Heaven's prayers to Serenity and Saint Peter, employing celestial magic and her divine bow tie to transform the surroundings into a galaxy-like expanse, with prayers swirling around them like ethereal entities (represented as golden, disembodied hands that display a hologram of the prayer when opened).
Serenity looks in awe by the spectacle, while Saint Peter observes a notable scarcity of prayers, though Adina assures him that all is as it should be, quelling his concerns. Spotting Serenity on the verge of opening and inspecting one of the prayers, Adina hurriedly swoops over and firmly seizes Serenity's wrist, causing her to visibly startle.
Recognizing the abruptness of her action, Adina releases Serenity with an awkward chuckle, while Serenity massages her wrist in discomfort. Adina hastily makes up an excuse, explaining that prayers are sacred communications between mortals and the heavens.
She elaborates, stating that if a prayer is opened or revealed to outside eyes before they are answered by God, its sanctity is compromised, rendering it incapable of receiving divine intervention. Despite this, her shaken tone suggests she is hiding something.
Adina tells Serenity and Saint Peter that, while some prayers are instantly approved by Heaven, she is judge and jury on the fates of prayers deemed uncertain or toe the line of being righteous and selfish, so she keeps them locked away in a pocket dimension. Despite her reassurances, doubt begins to fester within Serenity, prompting her to question Adina about the fate of prayers that remain unfulfilled.
Adina, visibly perturbed by the inquiry, claims that the dimension is more like a place of temporary storage, until she deletes the prayers from existence. This disturbs Serenity, but before she can continue asking questions, Adina hastily redirects the conversation, vowing to swiftly address the prayer predicament in due time. Shifting focus, she urges Serenity and Saint Peter to continue their efforts in remedying Heaven's issues, specifically tasking them with finding new roles for the Exorcists. Peter eagerly agrees, prompting Serenity to reluctantly follow suit, despite her lingering unease. With that, they depart as Adina smiles ominously at their departure.
In "The Fitch is Back", in the past, Adina had assigned Fitch the task of eliminating Vaggie. During his mission, Fitch nearly succeeded in harming both Vaggie and Angel Dust, but ultimately abandoned his mission upon developing respect for Vaggie for escaping from Azrael's clutches, something he could never do in regards to his deal with Adina. Upon his return to the celestial courtroom where Adina awaited, Fitch bowed respectfully before her. However, as he did so, Adina leaned in ominously, revealing her knowledge of Vaggie's survival. With quiet resolve, Fitch acknowledged his failure, aware of the impending consequences.
Suddenly, Adina's bow tie sprang to life, wrapping its fabric around Fitch's throat with a vengeful force. Gasping for air and writhing in agony as divine energy surged painfully through his veins, Fitch endured merciless torture, bearing the brutal punishment for his shortcomings as Adina looked down at his suffering with a pleased, barely interested smile.
In "Exorcisms in Redemption", Adina summons the Exorcists back to Haven to begin training in anticipation of the next Extermination, dashing Serenity and Saint Peter's efforts to integrate them back into Heaven's society.
From Heaven's Courtroom, Adina and Fitch observe Serenity and Saint Peter through a crystal ball, both finding amusement in their struggles. Fitch remarks on Serenity's attempts to undermine Adina's work, but Adina brushes it off, dismissing Serenity as a mere child with extreme luck. With determination, Adina vows to keep her control over Heaven and menacingly threatens to extinguish Serenity's "light". She puts a hand on the crystal ball as it displays Serenity's visage, melting it with a sinister grin on her face, her eyes and aura turning from blue to a golden hue.
In "Heavenly Highjinks", Adina proudly displays her formidable powers to Fitch using a giant crystal ball, her enthusiasm comically bouncing off his very apparent boredom and apathy. It is revealed that Adina has been using her powers to maintain control over Heaven. Through the sinister manipulation of angelic magic, she has subjugated the minds of Heaven's lower populace, ensuring compliance or apathy towards her rule.
This secured her position alongside Azrael, openly conducting the Extermination without triggering a revolt from other angels and winners. Fitch inquires why Adina refrained from brainwashing Heaven's other royals, particularly the Seraphim sisters. Adina explains that the Seraphim are immune to her dark sorcery, but with the bulk of Heaven's populace swayed to her side, and another hidden means of power, their opposition remains inconsequential to her grand designs, which is why she is not worried about Serenity and Saint Peter possibly reverting the Extermination.
When Adina takes notice of Fitch's apathy and frown, the two begin performing a villainous duet, reveling in the misfortunes of sinners, finding joy in the suffering of those they deem deserving of punishment ("Just Desserts"). Adina starts by acknowledging Fitch's current downtrodden state and expresses her happiness at seeing him sad, which Fitch finds confusing. Adina clarifies that it's natural for her to feel this way because it's the concept of "Just Dessert" - the idea that people receive what they deserve, particularly in terms of punishment.
Adina elaborates on the concept, explaining that it's the satisfaction derived from seeing sinners face consequences for their actions, describing the "warm, cozy feeling" while watching sinners burn from above Heaven. Fitch is confused at first, but when Adina explains the phrase to him, they eagerly exchange examples of scenarios where they find satisfaction in seeing sinners suffer, such as drug addicts overdosing, alcoholics dying in car accidents, prostitutes getting mugged and taken advantage of, rapists getting circumsized, and watching sinners be rejected from Heaven and condemned to Hell.
Adina asserts that people like her and Fitch are essential in teaching lessons to sinners, implying they're agents of divine retribution. Fitch agrees, suggesting they provide a vital service to society by meting out punishments. The villain duo conclude the song by line-dancing together, celebrating their shared worldview and their role in making the world a "better" place by delivering what they see as deserved punishments. Adina ends with a bombastic, maniacal laugh as crystal balls around them displaying the image of her and Fitch tormenting and killing sinners.
In "Dirty Little Secrets", Serenity is drawn back to Heaven's Courtroom by a mysterious object Archangel Gabriel had given her. Anxious, but determined, the princess sneaks into the courtroom, hiding in the rafters as she looks down on Adina and Fitch. Adina, swirling amidst magical bubbles used to spy on Heaven's denizens, half-listens as Fitch advises her. He suggests that once they take control of Heaven and begin their crusade against sin, she should let him protect her more actively since she will be a prime target for the forces of evil. Adina laughs off his suggestion, confident in their power and the army of Exorcists at their command, and dismisses Fitch's concerns.
Fitch warns her not to become complacent, pointing out that Serenity is already suspicious of them. Adina belittles Serenity's potential threat, but Fitch remains wary, emphasizing the risk of a civil war if their actions are discovered. Adina reassures Fitch, reminding him that their mission to cleanse Creation is righteous. and divinely supported. To bolster his confidence, Adina enchants Fitch with golden dust, transforming it into armor and giving him a dragon-embellished staff.
She commands him to eliminate all opposing forces once they rise to power. Fitch, now emboldened, slams the staff down, aligning with Adina as the priestess uses magic to create golden visions o Heaven's denizens bowing to them, with demon heads on pikes surrounding them. Together, they vow death to all who oppose their mission, not knowing Serenity is watching these events unfold
Serenity continues traveling to the lower recesses of Heaven's Courtroom and is led to a secret room containing the prayers that Adina has stored away. She is finally able to pry open the hands of one prayer to see its nature, and uncovers Adina and Fitch's malevolent plot: over the years, Adina and Fitch have been kidnapping sinners and bringing them to Heaven in secret, torturing them and forcing them to literally pray for mercy before they are murdered. Adina and Fitch then take their prayer and absorb its incredible power, using it to maintain control over Heaven.
Enraged, Serenity takes all of the sinners' prayers to bring them to Sera, but she is suddenly intercepted by Adina and Fitch, the former grinning widely. Serenity is furious and confronts Adina about her crimes, calling Adina more corrupt than even the sinners she mercilessly prosecutors, but Adina isn't fearful in the slightest. Conjuring her angelic surveillance, she replays footage of Serenity breaking into the courtroom and "tampering" with the prayers Adina has protected, saying that she has everything she needs to have the princess tried in court. Enraged by all of Adina's corruption and injustice, Serenity tries to attack Adina, but the chieftess, empowered by the prayers of sinners, overpowers Serenity, holding her in place with magic, allowing Fitch to retrieve the sinners' prayers back from her. Adina then puts the Seraphim princess to sleep with a simple hand gesture.
When Serenity awakens, she finds herself restrained, standing before Adina and a court of hundreds. It becomes clear that Adina has put her in a sequestered kangaroo court, dubbing Serenity a danger to Heaven and showing all of the "evidence" she has of the princess' wrongdoings, telling the court that it is not the responsibility of Seraph to handle Heaven's prayers. Serenity begs the courtroom not to listen to Adina, urging them to look into the prayers Adina is keeping hidden, but it becomes clear to Serenity that the court is under Adina's control, much to her horror.
And so, Serenity is sentenced to be banished to Purgatory and is deemed a fallen angel. Ignoring Serenity pleads, Adina cheerfully hums as she uses magic to remove Serenity of her wings, conjuring a portal from the courtroom to send Serenity to a dark void within Purgatory, where she can never escape. The last thing Serenity sees and hears is Fitch and Adina's sinister grins and maniacal laughter, their eyes and teeth glowing yellow from the power of sinners' prayers, before the portal closes, leaving her trapped in total darkness.
In "Everything You Know is Wrong", Adina, borderline manic from harnessing so many prayers, gathers a crowd around the Heavenly Court to announce Serenity's banishment to the streets of Heaven. The crowd is instantly horrified, especially Sera, all of them initially left in Silence. Failing to acknowledge their reaction, Adina cheerfully tries to shift to the news that Divine Delights is serving their Universe-famous star-studded ice cream for the week.
However, the crowd demands an explanation for Serenity's banishment. Their evident distress over Serenity's fate frustrates Adina, who had underestimated Serenity's importance to them. Bursting into a lengthy, maniacal cackle, Adina tells the crowd that Serenity is not as wholesome and pure as they believe, summoning her drones to play the footage of Serenity "breaking into" the courtroom and "tampering" with prayers, shocking the crowd, who all have mixed reactions. Adina abruptly teleports away after a quick goodbye, retreating into the palace to protect her image.
Once inside the palace, Adina squeals and fist-pumps, deluding herself into believing that the announcement went well, until she is suddenly confronted by Sera upon turning, who glares death at the priestess with an intensity that startles her. Struggling to control her anger, Sera demands a detailed explanation from Adina, furious and deeply upset over her little sister's banishment. Adina reiterates Serenity's supposed crimes, but Sera is having none of it.
Using her authority, Sera reminds Adina of her place and that being the Chieftess of Justice does not hold ultimate power, highlighting the rushed and discreet nature of Serenity's trial. Sera, clearly suspicious and aware that something is amiss, asserts that she knows her sister and Serenity would never tamper with prayers without a good reason. In her seething rage, she warns Adina that an investigation will be conducted on both Serenity and Adina.
However, Sera's anger ways as she gets a good look at Adina's manic and disheveled state. In a calmer tone, Sera asks Adina what has happened to her, telling Adina that she is not the same person she and her father once found on the streets. After a pause, Adina just chuckles and warns Sera to not ask that, since "curiosity killed the cat". Sera returns to scowling, before teleporting away.
Some time later, realizing that her plans might fall through, Adina sulks in her chair, deflating like a sad, Adina balloon. Fitch spins his chair to reveal his presence, and remains confident that Adina made the right choice at banishing Serenity, and that they both merely have to rethink their plans, especially with Sera being onto them. With this in mind, Adina concedes and decides to have a final hurrah, opening the prayer room filled with the prayers of all the sinners she and Fitch had tortured into praying for their lives. She gives Fitch several prayers to harness for himself, and he almost instantly becomes as manic as Adina upon absorbing them. As they harness the prayers of their victims, they both revel in its effects and power, laughing hysterically in a disturbing display.
Later, Adina and Fitch (slightly more lucid) discuss the fallout of Serenity's removal and the unrest among Heaven. Unbeknownst to them, Tory eavesdrops from the rafters. Fitch expresses concern over the negative reactions, while Adina dismisses Serenity's allies and friends as inconsequential, comparing them to children adoring a mascot. Adina asserts that Heaven must accept her rule and the changes she envisions, expressing frustration that her reforms are criticized as unethical while Serenity's are praised.
Adina, drunk with power, then outlines her plan using golden projections: first, she plans to purge the Seraphim Order and their allies, and second, to launch a universal eradicate all sin in the Universe, with Heaven crusading across the stars under her leadership, throwing any dissidents into conversion camps and turning life into a holy regime and dystopian nightmare. In the end, Adina proclaims that she will be the ultimate symbol of divine justice at God's side and invites Fitch to join her.
Fitch, in response, questions Adina's sanity. However, out of the corner of his eye and due to the brightness of Adina's projection, Fitch notices Tory eavesdropping and immediately hurls his trident at the cherub to kill him, but Tory, terrified and knowing about Adina's deception, evades the trident and flies through the stained-glass windows. Adina cheekily and excitedly orders her drones to find Tory.
Despite being hounded by Adina's drones, Tory manages to escape due to Ebony's protection, who helps him get to Saint Peter to tell him everything he heard. Peter comes up with a plan to go to C.H.E.R.U.B Headquarters, travel to Purgatory suing the Realm Travel Facility, and rescue Serenity. However, the plan goes awry, as it is revealed that Adina predicted they would do this and bewitched all of the cherubs at the headquarters.
Saint Peter, Ebony, and Tory find themselves surrounded by cherubs possessed by Adina's magic, who demand their allegiance to her. Fitch arrives, dismissing Adina's self-glorification, while Adina, speaking through the angels, cheekily asserts her divine authority. Peter, shocked, questions Adina, realizing her past words and actions were all insincere. Adina happily admits to this, leaving Peter devastated.
Ebony comforts Peter, while Tory confronts Peter for doubting their warnings. Fitch, revealing in the situation, tells Tory that this should be no surprise, alluding to Peter's past unfaithfulness, prompting Ebony to defend Peter and Tory. Adina playfully taunts Ebony and mocks Peter's loyalty, challenging him to deny his friends as he once denied another. With an utterly sinister look, she goes as far as to offer Peter salvation if he denies and damns Ebony and Tory.
Despite Adina's tempting offer, Peter remains loyal to Ebony and Tory, refusing to revert to his old ways and betray them. Adina cheerfully and nonchalantly shrugged and gave Fitch permission to kill them. However, using his wits, Peter created a diversion sprinted for the portal, urging Ebony and Tory to get to safety. After Peter escapes into Purgatory, his diversion allowed them to escape, though Fitch's dragons chased after them, complicating their getaway.
At night, Adina and Fitch are ready to launch their plan, determined to solidify their power and control over Heaven. Adina expresses disdain for all the angels in the streets of Heaven, singing hymns and calling for Serenity's freedom, with the added insult of an incoming investigation. Adina and Fitch, both mad with power, begin singing a villainous duet as they enter the prayer room with bombastic confidence, aiming to subjugate dissenters and enforce their universal rule with an iron fist.
As they harness the power from prayers together, planning to build an army and extend their dominion across the Universe, they vow to God to fulfill what they call His vision for a just, righteous world. Adina lays out their plan quite vividly using golden projections, portraying a dystopian Universe where they are both worshiped as divine saviors, sin is completely eradicated, and disobedience is punished mercilessly, and all who oppose them are thrown into conversion camps, eradicated, or subjugated - using the Exorcists as their enforcers. Both Fitch and Adina are ecstatic for this, complimenting each other with flamboyant gestures mimicking their victims' suffering.
After harnessing enough prayers, Adina proclaims that the time has come for all her pain and patience to be rewarded. She extends her wings and Fitch conjures his prayer-powered armor and trident, sprouts his dragon wings, and together they fly in tandem to the top of Adina's courthouse, their golden eyes glowing with evil intention as they look down upon Heaven with the intention to dominate it and squash any hope of resistance.
In the Holy Hell finale "For Heaven's Sake", Adina and Fitch ascend to the top of the giant halo atop Halo Tower, in the center of Halo City, overlooking much of Heaven. Adina uses her magic to amplify her voice, addressing all of Heaven with a commanding and mocking tone.
As a massive crowd of thousands gathers around the tower, she greets everyone with exaggerated cheerfulness and sarcastically mentions Serenity's banishment, using it as an example of the consequences of "children" getting into trouble when their parents aren't vigilant enough.
Adina would then declare that it's time for Heaven to recognize her leadership and for the angels to demonstrate their true power over the Universe. She proclaims her plan to conquer creation, eliminate all sin, and crush any opposition, aiming to be worshipped and adored like a goddess and join God at His Empyrean - in addition to damning humanity to collapse without the intervention of angels. Adina claps her hands and unleashes a blast of holy energy at the ground below, sending a shockwave of her aura throughout Heaven, causing the entire realm to respond to her command. Heaven shifts and moves, like a ship ready to set sail across the Universe.
Adina, cackling with excitement, declares to Fitch that their crusade against the damned is finally beginning. She expresses her ambition to become the unquestioned ruler of everything, as praised as God Himself. Turning to Fitch, she cheerfully tells him that he will finally be worth a damn. Fitch, leaning on his golden trident and pacing among the chaos, admits to finding Adina's newfound insanity somewhat charming. He acknowledges her ambition but expresses doubts about the plan to purge all sin, noting that it might leave her with no one to rule.
This, he suggests, could ultimately humble her. However, as he contemplates the idea, a smile of realization spreads across his face, and he decides to join her, conjuring his spear and striking down a group of miniature sinner projections. He toasts to their partnership, calling them the most holy pair in the universe. Adina, thrilled by his agreement, cackles with delight. She acknowledges their love for order but admits that sometimes a little chaos is needed to keep things interesting. Her eyes glow yellow with sinister intent as she uses prayer energy to manipulate Heaven itself, laughing insanely as she fully embraces the chaos she is creating.
However, Adina's takeover is briefly interrupted when Sera appears before Adina, having allowed her to reveal her true colors, before attempting to stop Adina and Fitch herself. Adina and Sera briefly struggle against each other, and Adina, being fueled by so much prayer power, manages to overpower Sera.
With Sera incapacitated and restrained in power-dampening holy chains by Fitch, Adina returns to focusing on Heaven's denizens. Questioning where she was before being "rudely interrupted", Adina uses her magic and influence over Heaven to make every kneel in a prayer position, attempting to steal their prayers by force.
Adina cackles and exclaims with delight as prayers flow from the denizens and over to her. She grabs a prayer, toasting it to an annoyed and stoic Fitch over cleansing the universe of all sin. However, when she tries to absorb the prayer, it fails to transfer any power into her. Embarrassed, she dismisses it as a happy accident and grabs another prayer, only to find it too is a dud.
When Adina begins frantically absorbing any of the prayers for power to no avail, Fitch groans and rubs his brow, reminding Adina that prayers must come from the heart and cannot be forced out of people. Adina smacks her forehead in realization and, somewhat self-deprecatingly, acknowledges being educated by a sinner. Composing herself, the chieftess reassures Fitch with a sinister grin, stating that she will extract genuine prayers from Heaven's people, even if it means torturing them out of everybody as she did with the sinners. She raises her hand, which sparkles with lightning, ready to use these means to achieve her goal.
However, Adina halts when she sees a bright fireball in the distance. She questions Fitch on what it was, assuming it might be fireworks from those open to their crusade. The fireball, however, shifts and reveals itself to be Serenity, who had escaped Purgatory. She halts in front of Adina and Fitch - her eyes and wings engulfed in fire -, her return heartening Heaven's denizens as they watch from below.
Adina recoils slightly, feigning annoyance at the interruption just as they were just about to get to the "really fun" part of their takeover, complaining about not being able to monologue without interruption and condescendingly addresses Serenity, as if scolding a child for misbehaving.
Serenity retorts with a huff, meeting Adina's mocking tone by explaining that she was pulled from the void by a friend who reminded her that Heaven is in desperate need of hope and serenity. Adina responds by comparing Serenity and her friends' defiance to a "fairy tale rebellion" and dismissing it as the idea of it being "naive". She highlights the harsh reality that fairy tales often don't end well for the protagonist, expressing her impatience with Serenity, who has been a persistent obstacle. Serenity remains steadfast, hovering in front of Adina and challenging the "vile witch" to do her worst. Adina giggles and ominously declares she will do her absolute best.
Adina and Fitch join hands and use malevolent angelic magic to create an army of golden soldiers to deal with Serenity and any dissenters while they focus on sailing Heaven through the Universe. However, as the villainous duo are distracted, the Exorcists show up - rallied by Ebony - and aid the heroes, slaughtering Adina and Fitch's artificial army, refusing to be used as puppets for Adina and Fitch. This allows Serenity and Saint Peter to fly to the top of Halo Tower together for the final confrontation.
Fitch comments to Adina on the duo's persistence, while Adina exhaustedly compares them to cockroaches. Adina tasks Fitch with destroying Halo City and endangering the people simply to distract one or both of the two, but before Fitch can leave to follow her command, Peter cuts him off.
Serenity and Saint Peter proceed to do battle with Adina and Fitch; The battle-inexperienced Serenity struggles against the more unhinged, powerful and aggressive Adina, while Peter's angelic magic proves too much for Fitch, despite the saint only being armed with a holy shield. During Peter and Fitch's duel, Peter uses the Shield of Heaven to destroy Fitch's prayer-powered trident before nearly shield-bashing him off the tower. Meanwhile, Adina ensnares Serenity in a yellow, magical aura that causes her intense pain when she resists, providing Fitch for a window of recovery when Peter tries to help Serenity.
Peter frees Serenity by shield-bashing Adina (but not before politely apologizing to the priestess), freeing Serenity. Meanwhile, Fitch, blooded with his glasses broken, commands Adina to let him transform into his full, unrestrained dragonic form to crush the resistance. Adina happily obliges Fitch's command and grants Fitch access to his full power. With a sinister grin, Fitch explodes into a plumb of yellow and green flames, causing Peter and Serenity to recoil as he assumes his extremely power, intimidating draconic form. Serenity and Peter look upon his form in terror as Adina gracefully mounts herself on Dragon Fitch's back, cackling as Fitch lets out a roar that shakes the heavens.
Peter and Serenity struggle against Fitch's dragon form, with the battle of biblical proportions turning more into a fight for survival. As Serenity and Peter try to protect each other from the dragon, Serenity shoves Peter out of the way of a tail whip meant for him, taking a devastating tail whip from Fitch that leaves her unconscious.
Adina gives Fitch permission to kill "Sleeping Beauty", and Fitch obliges, unleashing his holy fire breath on the grounded Serenity. In a moment that plays out in dramatic slow motion, just before the fire can consume her, Tory flies in, curls into his shell, and shields Serenity from the blast, taking all of the impact with the light from said impact shining throughout Heaven, leaving the onlookers down below confused.
In the aftermath, Tory lies on the ground, unresponsive and presumed dead. As Serenity cradles Tory and Saint Peter kneels in sadness, Adina and Fitch look down upon the heroes in satisfaction, the chieftess cackling at Tory's sacrifice, mocking Serenity and Peter for "involving children in war".
Utterly infuriated at Tory's presumed death, Saint Peter raises his hand and summons the Spear of Heaven, determined to avenge Tory. While Serenity flies Tory off, Peter relentlessly attacks Fitch, eventually bringing him down by slicing and cutting holes into his wings, preventing him from flying and causing him to plummet back down to the tower, sending Adina violently tumbling to the side as well. Despite Peter sparing him, Fitch defiantly unleashes another blast of fire in Peter's direction when his back was turned, but the saint narrowly manages to block the blast with his shield, indirectly sending it back at Fitch. This results in Fitch is consumed in his own holy flames, tumbling off the tower to his demise.
Adina witnesses the death of Fitch right before her eyes. Overwhelmed with shock and disbelief, her eyes widen and she starts to mentally unravel. She begins to deny the reality of the situation, clutching her head and yelling "no" repeatedly, her smile becoming unhinged and tears welling up but not falling. Her hair flows wildly as she tries to convince herself that it's all a terrible dream, refusing to accept what has happened.
Abruptly, Adina screams in denial, causing prayer energy to explode around her. Her expression shifts from disbelief to furious rage as she glares at Saint Peter, threatening to feed his "filthy souls" to the maggots of Hell as she descends into vengeance-fueled madness. She attacks the physically and emotionally exhausted Saint Peter, but Serenity returns to combat Adina, her hair and eyes on fire in a display of Seraphim rage.
Adina and Serenity engage in a full-on holy battle, with Adina employing malevolent fire (a sort of tribute to the fallen Fitch), attempts at mind control, and powers of dark angelic magic, while Serenity combats this with the powers of the Seraphim, including summoning meteorites and surrounding herself in a sphere of holy fire as protection.
As the battle rages, Serenity calmly confronts the furious Adina, telling her that there is something she has been wanting to tell her for a long time. Adina shrieks in response and continues attacking Serenity, but the young princess tries to make Adina see the true nature of prayers; that they come from the heart.
Digging deeper, Serenity reminds Adina of her painful childhood, telling her that Adina's prayers to erase sin were not genuine and, in reality, her real desire in her heart was to not be alone and no longer in pain of loss. Serenity points out that this prayer was answered when Sera and their father took Adina in after she lost everything.
Adina responds with bitter laughter, dismissing Serenity's understanding of her pain and suffering. She accuses Serenity of having everything handed to her by their father and mocks her for her compassion towards humans, insisting that her actions, which Serenity opposes, are what Serenity should also be doing. She further mocks Serenity for judging what her prayers should be, since Adina herself is the one who has the "right" to do that.
Adina manages to break Serenity's sphere of fire and defeats the princess swiftly. The priestess then begins torturing Serenity before Heaven as a way to break their spirits and remind them who is now in charge. However, this attempt to squash all hope only results in Heaven's denizens praying for Serenity's safety.
Through this, Serenity slowly becomes greatly empowered by the hope and prayers of Heaven's denizens. Now radiating a golden aura, she is reinvigorated by these prayers, breaking free from Adina's grasp and flying over to free Sera from her containment. Adina begins losing her mind as she realizes that she is losing control. She tries to wipe out all of the praying denizens with magic, but an unseen force (later revealed to be Asherah's influence), protects the denizens from any previous harm.
Sera and Serenity fight Adina together, with the priestess unable to keep up with both of them, especially with Serenity's newfound power. Adina lets out a scream of utter anger and flies outside of Heaven. She shouts that if Heaven won't assist her in her crusade, then it will be the first "victim" and the starting point of the crusade, planning to annihilate Heaven and its denizens in a single blow.
Raising her hand, Adina conjures a divine spear forged of lightning and heavenly flame, referencing her previous destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah as a precedent for her actions. She mockingly calls it "Old Reliable," emphasizing her belief that such destruction is necessary for purging sin. Sera, deeply distressed, pleads with Adina to stop, and Serenity, equally horrified, warns that Adina's actions will result in the deaths of countless innocent souls.
Adina, however, is unmoved by their pleas and even joyful in her conviction. She expresses a fanatical belief that future generations born under her new order will praise her for destroying Heaven. She proceeds to ridicule those who advocate for mercy, seeing their compassion as weakness that only allows sin to fester. Her speech grows more emotional and unstable as she references losing her order and Fitch, before declaring an "an eye for an eye", hurling the spear towards Heaven in an aim to destroy it in retaliation for Fitch's death.
However, a prayer-powered Serenity and Sera transform into their Full Angel Forms together, and the seraphim fire a joint blast of holy fire at the spear to stop its momentum. Adina, in a fit of blind madness, flies down to the spear as it disintegrates and grips its handle with all her power in an attempt to overpower the sisters' defensive blast. Sera and Serenity frantically beg Adina to stop, but the chieftess is too overcome with madness to listen. Despite Adina's attempts to drive the spear through, she is overpowered in the struggle and obliterated, meaning Adina's reign over Heaven has finally ended.
In the aftermath, Serenity and Sera have a moment to mourn Adina, Serenity silently comforting Sera as she stares at where Adina once stood with a mix of sadness and frustration.
Personality[]
- "The cleansing of sinners is my cross to bear. All of you are too incompetent to pull your weight in the angelic order's one true noble cause of ridding the world of sin. But -- OOH BOY!!! --- do NOT worry yourselves over the littlest things, because I, your beloved Chieftess of Justice, have taken all of the responsibility to do what you little lambs are too afraid to do! You may thank me later, questions and photos after the crusade."
- — Adina.
On the surface, Adina seemed like how one would envision an angel; she moves with beauty, grace, and with a theatrical flair in all her movements. With an eloquent and almost sing-songy speech pattern, she kept a warm, serene smile on her face and gentle tone of voice at all times, and boasted a flair for flamboyant, campy, and theatrical expressions. With a noble demeanor, she held a very strong believer in God and order, imposing fundamentalist interpretations of law and order upon Heaven, purveying a black-and-white outlook on the world, and enforcing impossible standards of perfection that are all too easy to fall short of.
In truth, however, Adina embodied the puritanical corruption that plagued modern Heaven, harboring an extreme hatred for demons and belief that they were beyond rehabilitation, and the only way to save them was to have their evil cleansed (destroying their souls completely). She allowed her beliefs to corrupt her to the point of madness and complete insanity, and was convinced that everything she did - including the brutal torture and purging of demons - is for the greater good or part of God's will.
Manipulative, confident, mocking, and self-righteous, Adina often boasted a very sarcastic and incredibly condescending demeanor, especially towards those she considered inferior or foes. She enjoyed belittling others, as seen in her interactions with Serenity, as she mocked Serenity's principles and downplayed the importance of the human souls Serenity values and wants to protect. For a Chieftess of Justice, she was quite duplicitous, using her power and influence to frame and control situations to her advantage, showing zero remorse for her actions.
Despite her cruel behavior, she always dept up an attitude of childish, campy cheerfulness and normalcy, quickly shifting from sadistic pleasure to mundane topics like dessert. In general, Adina plated almost everything off as if it is a fun game, one where she knows she will win but still has the time of her life while playing.
She also quite extroverted and outgoing, as she could almost never be found alone and preferred to be around other people such as Fitch. She disliked being alone and enjoyed having other people around to play and bounce off of, which also could explain her dislike of "boring" and monotone people.
Adina's early personality was shaped by her strict upbringing in a family that believed even a single drop of sin could poison one's soul beyond saving. After her family was killed during the War in Heaven, she was taken in by the Seraphim Seraphiel and Sera and treated with love, but her hatred for sin and desire for vengeance blinded her to this kindness. Believing that God was testing her, she resolved to destroy all sin by force once she became the Chieftess of Justice and Purification, and be rewarded for her resilience and patience by becoming God's right-hand. Her anger, bitterness, and envy fueled her determination to destroy all sin and be rewarded by God. She later collaborated with Azrael to establish the Exorcists, an army aimed at carrying out an annual Extermination to prevent the Root of Evil from rising.
A tragic irony to Adina is that, despite her innate ability to seek out and destroy sin, she is unable to see any flaws or potential sin within herself. She was raised under a black-and-white moral belief that even a single drop of sinfulness would completely poison anyone's soul beyond rehabilitation, and in the aftermath of the war, this belief only increased, as she witnessed Lucifer, considered the purest of angels, turn against Heaven out of pridefulness and ambition. However, at this very same time, she was unable to see at this point that her own envy and hatred of seeing humans and angels have their prayers answered while her won were seemingly ignored was pushing her down a dark path of spiting others for her own benefit. Her rigid belief system, which was only exacerbated by the trauma of losing her family during the War in Heaven, led her to a path of bitterness and vengeance, clouding her judgment and blinding her to her own flaws.
Adina was very self-assured, always smiles and remaining calm even when she was purging demons or at a disadvantage, giving off the feeling of always being in control of any situation. Even when her patience was tested, such as whenever Azrael would go on overly-long guitar solos, her response was to calmly tell the archangel to stop, all while maintaining a smile. She had a habit of "comforting" the demons she tortured by telling them that Creation was closer to being Paradise because of their suffering and deaths.
Serving as an example of her hypocrisy, Adina loathed quirks and was quick to remind others of their manners. Despite this, Adina herself is quite quirky and even silly in private settings. She carried conversations with portraits, engaged in animated dialogues with inanimate subjects. During her moments of repose, such as being immersed in a bath, she found amusement in crafting demon-shaped constructs from the frothy bubbles, playfully reenacting a ritual of exorcising them from the depths of her bathwater while imitating their screams of pain in a high-pitched voice.
She was an intelligent, dreaded, and very manipulative master of deception as well, especially towards Azrael, exploiting the fact that he sees her as a mother figure and using it to increase her position of power, since Azrael is Morningstar royalty. She later showed her cunning by playing Charlie's Angels like a fiddle, and attempted to sway Charlie into abandoning Hell and joining Heaven, on the condition that the princesses' demonic side be erased and exorcised so that Adina could mold her in the image of God.
Upon discovering that she could gain even more power by siphoning the prayers of tortured sinners, Adina descended into complete and utter madness. Believing that her and Fitch's actions were divinely sanctioned, her goals expanded from merely controlling Heaven's denizens using dark, forbidden angelic magic to launching a universal crusade with her and Fitch at the helm. Her goal became not only to eradicate all sinners, but also to oppress and annihilate anyone they deemed imperfect or who merely opposed their rule. She envisioned a Universe where she and Fitch were worshiped as gods, with the prayers of their victims forever unanswered. At one point, she openly admitted that a little chaos is needed to keep things "interesting", fully embracing the chaos she was creating.
Despite being a disgrace to all Angels, and all of her horrible traits, Adina did possess one sole redeeming quality, that being her genuine, if bizarre, affection and care for Fitch. While she does not shy away from gleefully tormenting and degrading him, the two are an extremely fun, campy duo who enjoy oppressing and slaughtering sinners and singing together. Adina often tried to engage in friendly conversation, and also doesn't want him to worry too much about their schemes falling through. When Fitch was killed by his own hand in the final confrontation, Adina suffered a legit emotional breakdown, attempting to deny the reality. She was devastated by his demise and elected to wipe out Heaven entirely for the death of her right-hand man.
Appearance[]
Adina is a statuesque, 11'7 angel graced with porcelain skin, cascading ivory locks, cyan-hued eyes with matching sclera, and a pair of colossal, pristine wings. She dons an opulent, flowing white gown, adorned with cyan gradients and accented by cross motifs along the edges. Completing her ethereal ensemble is a sizable cyan bow tie, intricately patterned with crosses that embellish the graceful trails of its twin tails.
Powers and Abilities[]
Powers[]
- Angelic Power: One of Heaven's most powerful angels, Adina is a high-ranking angel who possesses intimidating and frightening amounts of holy power, even allowing her to perform divine destructions. Many of her powers are intended to showcase the darker elements of the angels' abilities, making her stand out from other celestial beings.
- Astral Projection: Adina can send an intangible projection of herself from across dimensions in order to go on diplomatic missions, such as when she sent a projection of herself to Hell to propose a deal with Charlie.
- Cerebrokinesis: One of Adina's most utilized and powerful abilities. Using dark angelic magic, she can manipulate the minds of thousands, if not millions to countless beings at once, mostly in a way that sways them to her beliefs or placates them. In fact, this ability was what allowed her and Azrael to control Heaven for so long, ensuring the compliance or apathy towards their laws. This secured her position alongside Azrael, allowing them to openly conduct the Extermination without triggering a revolt from other angels and winners. However, this ability has no effect on angelic beings who are more powerful than her, such as the Seraphim or Metatron. Additionally, Adina can manipulate the minds of sinners in order to torture them and cause them to go insane and even dissolve from sheer anguish, forcing them to relive all the worst memories of their lives and their biggest regrets, as well as putting them through all of the agony they had inflicted on other people.
- Mind-Reading: Adina was able to see Manco's memories in an instant by simply placing her hand on the boy's head, with Manco himself being none the wiser to her doing so.
- Emotion Manipulation: Adina can sway people's entire thoughts and emotions using dark angelic magic. At one point, she used her singing voice to placate of distressed crowd of angels worried about the prayers of humans and angels alike being unanswered.
- Clothing Manipulation: Adina can enlarge and manipulate her blessed bow tie, using the two tails of the tie effectively as a rope to tie her victims and leave them helpless to being purged. At one point, she conjured a long, holy robe after emerging from a bath.
- Creation: After siphoning numerous sinners' prayers for their power, Adina was capable of creating a holy, prayer-powered trident for Fitch. Shortly after, she created golden replicas of Heaven's denizens which she commanded to bow before the two of them. Finally, she created a holy, prayer-powered spear from prayer energy that she claimed was capable of wiping out all of Heaven.
- Exorcism: Adina claims that she is capable of "purifying" other entities, removing them of any demonic influences or presence and spiritually destroying their demonhood. She offered to remove Charlie of all her demonic traits so that she would become a pure angel.
- Flight: Adina possesses a set of wings that allow her to fly and hover in the air.
- Melting Touch: At one point, Adina made a crystal ball melt in her hand as it displayed Serenity's image.
- Pain Inducement: Adina possesses the ability to inflict intense physical suffering upon others by ensnaring them with the fabric of her bow tie. This action triggers a surge of divine energy within their veins, subjecting them to excruciating torment.
- Photokinesis: Adina can project and manipulate light, and possesses a natural inner glow. She utilizes holy light to destroy and melt demons.
- Planetary Manipulation: Upon launching her universal crusade to wipe out all sin and imperfection, Adina, powered by prayers, encompassed the entire dimension of Heaven in her magic, manipulating the moon-like form of Heaven to sail through the Universe.
- Pyligenesis: During her banishment of Serenity, Adina conjured a dimensional portal to Purgatory.
- Pocket Dimension Manipulation: Adina created and maintains an entire pocket reality which she uses to store the unworthy prayers of Heaven.
- Power Removal: When banishing Serenity, Adina was able to magically strip her of her wings. It is unknown if Adina can do this without the influence of prayer magic.
- Scrying: Similar to how Lucifer is able to watch over Hell, Adina can see through all of the eyes on Heaven's gates, allowing her to keep a close eye on denizens and spot anything out of order, or any defiance of Heaven's regulations. She can also conjure crystal balls, which range in size, that allow her to see almost anything she desires.
- Transmutation: During a bubble bath, Adina turned a floating bubble into a toy version of a sinner.
Abilities[]
- Authoritative Power: As Divine Chieftess of the Heavenly Court, Adina was a very reputable and respected figure with sway over virtually all of Heaven's laws as well as the unanswered prayers of humans. She could accuse anyone of breaking Heaven's laws and have them tried and banished to Hell or even Purgatory. She also held sway over the Exorcists, being completely in charge of them and their autonomy after Azrael's banishment. Later, she banished Serenity - a seraphim princess far above her in the hierarchy - from Heaven, though she arranged a kangaroo court to do so. With her literally controlling the Heavenly Court, she could essentially try and banish anyone she desires.
- Musical Talents: Adina is a very gifted singer as well as a ballet dancer.
- Surveillance: Adina has a nearly all-seeing eye over Heaven, from using the many eye images to watch Heaven's denizens, to employing enchanted drones to ferry her prying eyes even within the realm of Hell.

Fitch[]
- "The world needs people like you and me
Who've been chosen by a higher-power
To teach sinners a lesson
Cuz after our class is in session
They won't be seeing Heaven!" - — Adina about her and Fitch.
Adina and Fitch are an extremely formidable, yet fun, campy, deliciously cheesy villain duo. As Adina's right-hand, Fitch's existence revolves around serving her whims, whether it's in the pursuit of eradicating sinners and demons or in the mundane tasks she assigns him. The two form an extremely fun, villainous duo who get into many shenanigans together, with Adina's bubbly nature bouncing off of Fitch's stoic, "no bullshit" attitude. They are united in their pursuit of dominance over Heaven and Creation. They share a twisted sense of morality, believing themselves to be above reproach and willing to do whatever it takes to achieve their goals, including exterminating and subjugating even the angels that will oppose them.
Despite showing no restraint from punishing and intimidating him, Adina admits that she has grown somewhat fond of Fitch. She is the more manipulative and charismatic of the two, using language to reinforce their authority and manipulate the masses while Fitch does the majority of the actual dirty work. She sees Fitch as her loyal partner, someone who shares her vision and supports her ambitions without question. Despite him being a sinner, she feels satisfaction in having Fitch by her side, someone who aligns with her dark desires and complements her own wickedness. She never shames Fitch for his sinner qualities, and oddly grows to respect him enough to view him differently from other sinners, or he has endeared himself to her to the extent that she doesn't see him as another mere sinner. Additionally, she strangely cares for Fitch, not wanting him to worry too much about their ambitions being squandered, and later emotionally combusts when he is killed during the launch of their crusade.
Adina initially viewed Fitch as little more than a servant, a trusted companion in her crusade to eradicate all sin in Creation. She saw him as a necessary asset, someone reliable enough to carry out her orders without question. Their partnership was firstly characterized by a blend of camaraderie and a hierarchical dynamic, with Adina firmly in control. When Fitch disappointed or disrespected Adina, she swiftly asserted her authority to remind him of "his place", resorting to intimidating and inflicting severe pain as punishment for his failures. With a cheerful demeanor masking her fury, Adina threatened to exploit Fitch's sins to break his mind permanently and drive him to insanity. However, the more time she spent around Fitch, the closer to him she became to the extent that she dropped essentially all of her abusive qualities towards him.
Despite her authoritarian demeanor, Adina approaches her and Fitch's missions with a sense of whimsy and playfulness, adopting personas and donning elaborate disguises with Fitch as they embark on their demon hunts. She likes to break down Fitch's serious and sophisticated disposition by talking to and treating him like a child.
Adina and Fitch can rarely have moments of genuine friendship; They find satisfaction in seeing sinners face consequences for their actions. During their villain song "Just Desserts", they exchange examples of scenarios where they derive pleasure from others' misfortunes like excited children, seeming almost friendly with each other. Adina believes they play a vital role in teaching lessons to sinners as agents of divine retribution, and that their work is what the Lord desires, a sentiment Fitch agrees with. The due celebrate their shared worldview and their role in meting out what they see as deserved punishments, cementing their partnership in villainy and "divine retribution". They also mock those who dare to oppose them, declaring extermination to anyone who doesn't comply with their rule.
Despite her manipulative and oppressive nature, it is clear that Adina genuinely cares about Fitch, her right-hand man - though she is not above toying with and talking down to him so he does not get overly cocky. At most times, she shows affection towards Fitch, caressing his cheeks lovingly when he worries about their plans being dashed, and reassures him about their shared goals and abilities.
Overall, despite their differences, Adina and Fitch managed to eventually see each other as rivals, establishing a villainous "friendship". They both reveled in their plans to dominate Heaven and doom humanity to destroy itself on Earth, using forbidden methods and manipulating the prayers of the people to their advantage. They envision a world where they reign supreme over Creation, crushing dissenters and sinners under their heels without mercy. Their ultimate goal is to establish an unholy regime where they are worshiped as gods and all opposition and what they perceive as "evil" is crushed underfoot.
When Fitch died by his own hand in the final confrontation, Adina was quickly overcome with grief after briefly attempting to deny the reality. She was devastated by his demise and elected to wipe out Heaven entirely for the death of her right-hand man.
Azrael[]
- "Azrael: (to Lucifer) I'm putting a concert-
Adina: (politely bowing her head) Cleanse-
Azrael: (to Lucifer, trying to cut Adina off) CLEANSE! A 'cleanse' together! Yeah! Us angels up in Heaven, now we've been seein' all those sinners being shat outta Earth's asshole and really fuckin' up the whole circus vibe you got goin' on. TOTES not cool, am I right, or am I right? But fear not, Luci 'Chill Me, Thrill Me, Fulfill Me' Goosey, cuz we're gonna swoop in and deal with your sinner problem-a by cutting those bitches down by the fucking billions at the end of every year!
Adina: (butting in, to Lucifer) And- And to suppress Evil, of course!
Azrael: (to Adina, hurriedly) Uh-huh, sure. (to Lucifer) End of the year, we fuck their asses up. Me and a kick-ass band of hot-ass vaginos!
Adina: (face-palming) ...'Viragos'." - — Azrael and Adina pitching the Extermination to Lucifer, showing their dynamic.
Adina is one of Azrael's closest confidants and partners. Despite his strongly misogynistic views, she is, along with Lute, one of the few angels capable of pacifying the archangel.
Despite them sharing roughly the same goals and ambitions, Adina does not seem to like Azrael too much, tries to spend as little time around him as possible, and his sinner-like attitude and tendency to go on overly-long guitar solos tends to easily push her buttons. She views him like a child who needs to be constantly kept on a leash lest they do dumb shit behind her back.
Adina and Azrael spent quite a lot of time together while establishing the Extermination. As a duo, Azrael was the more brash and informal of the two, while Adina was more polite and refined, expressing their plans to others in a much more refined way than Azrael did. Azrael's tendency to forget or mispronounce words, only to be corrected by Adina, especially highlighted their differences in communication. Despite this, they seemed to always be on the same side, working together to increase their power over Heaven and the souls of the afterlife.
Lute[]
Adina is Lute's superior. Adina practically raised Lute and her Exorcist sisters in Haven, preaching to them about the irredeemability of Hellspawn to indoctrinate them. Lute is very respectful and differential towards Adina, taking off her helmet and bowing towards the angel chieftess before speaking. Adina seems to hold Lute in high regard. She respects Lute’s humility and dedication, appreciating her respectful and earnest approach. She also calls her and Azrael the "perfect duo" seemingly out of fondness, acknowledging Lute’s serious demeanor as a balance to Azrael’s casual attitude. Adina also seems to trust Lute’s judgment, as she listens attentively to her concerns about Charlie's Angels and shows interest in offering guidance.
Enemies[]
Serenity[]
Adina and Serenity have a very complicated relationship that evolved into full antagonism; both maintain a polite facade in the other's presence, hiding their dislike for the other. Like Saint Peter, Adina tries to appeal to Serenity by showering her with praise, but Serenity but seems unaffected by Adina's excessive compliments. While Serenity is nice to almost everyone, she is more reserved and skeptical towards Adina, not easily swayed by the chieftess' charms. Despite Adina's attempts to win her over with praise, Serenity remains distant and maintains her composure. Adina regards Serenity as a child, and believes there is no hope for her because of her belief in redemption. The conflict between them symbolizes a clash of ideologies: Adina's belief in force and destruction to eradicate sin versus Serenity's faith in the power of hope, prayers, redemption, and compassion.
Adina's interactions with Serenity also reveal a certain level of unease or insecurity on Adina's part. This is evidenced by her abrupt and somewhat aggressive reaction when Serenity almost opens one of the prayers Adina keeps stored away. Though Adina quickly regained her composure and offered an explanation for why she stopped Serenity, there was a heavy implication that she is hiding something.
Indeed, Serenity never let go of her suspicions of Adina and went as far as to break into Heaven's Courtroom. There, she uncovered that Adina had made a deal with a sinner as well as her and Fitch's sinister actions, such as taking kidnapped sinners back to Heaven's courtroom and torturing them to death in order to claim their prayers of mercy. Serenity attempted to expose Adina's crimes, but Adina confronted Serenity herself shortly afterward. There, Adina played off all of Serenity's accusations and belittled her belief in human souls, calling her ridiculous for caring so much about the senseless killings of sinners. Knowing that Serenity would expose her crimes, Adina framed Serenity for tampering with prayers and arranged a kangaroo court to get her expelled from Heaven. She enjoyed tormenting Serenity, taking gleeful joy in her suffering before banishing her without remorse.
When Serenity eventually returned to stop Adina, the Chieftess belittled her attempts to oppose the "crusade" and dismissing her ideals of hope and serenity as childish. Their confrontation escalated when Serenity, despite her lack of battle experience, challenges Adina in a fierce holy battle. Adina, more aggressive and powerful, ruthlessly utilized fire and dark angelic magic to try and subdue Serenity.
During the battle, Serenity attempted to reach Adina on an emotional level, digging into her past and reminding her that her prayers to erase sin were truly driven by her fear of being alone and her pain from loss. Serenity tried to show Adina that her true desire was not vengeance, but never feeling alone and having a family again. However, Adina rejected Serenity's understanding, laughing bitterly and accusing Serenity of being privileged and blind to real suffering. Adina believes that her cruel actions are necessary and justified, whereas Serenity's compassion was seen as weakness
Sera[]
- "Sera: ...Is this a social call, or are there matters? I'm sure you understand that as Head Seraphim, I have many duties to oversee, and can't spare the time for such pleasantries.
Adina: Oh, I'm sorry!!! You are so right!!!! Oh, how foolish of me to presume that I as Chieftess of the Heavenly Court, Keeper of All Peace, et cetera et cetera, can interrupt the Princess of the Seraphim's busy schedule with my own affairs! I guess I was just overcome by the sheer joy of being in your presence." - — Sera and Adina.
Adina and Sera have quite a history together. They first met in their respective childhoods, following the War in Hell. Sera happened upon Adina, crying alone in the war-ravaged Heaven after her family had died in the conflict. Sera kneeled down and comforted Adina, pulling her close into a hug and allowing her a shoulder to cry on - a spark of love and unity in a realm torn apart by war and betrayal. Afterward, Sera and her father, Seraphiel, welcomed Adina into their palace, treating her as family and providing her with love and a home. Despite their kindness, Adina's intense hatred for sin and desire for vengeance from the war clouded her perception, leading her to overlook, unappreciate, and eventually betray the trust and care shown by Sera and her family.
In adulthood, Adina and Sera, though sharing similar personalities and a mutual respect for each other's positions, have a complicated, barely cordial relationship. It is implied that, despite drifting away from each other, they were more agreeable in the past, but have become more conflicted since Sera temporarily cancelled the Extermination. Adina displays a skeptical and somewhat condescending view of the Seraphim princess, often questioning her decisions and displaying a lack of trust in her abilities. Adina is also sarcastic towards Sera and enjoys teasing and prodding her, joking that she invited Sera for a meeting simply because she was "overcome by the sheer joy of being in [her] presence".
Following the Extermination's cancellation, Sera began to doubt the justice of their actions and fearing that her leadership has caused irreversible harm to innocent souls. She questions if the sinners they destroyed might have changed for the better, expressing deep regret and moral conflict over the role she played in their demise. Adina, however, was steadfast in her belief that sinners were irredeemable and condemned Sera’s doubts as misplaced. She advised Sera to accept her actions as just, reinforcing the notion that transgression merit eternal punishment. She also urged Sera to look forward, bear her burdens, and ignore the guilt plaguing her.
Adina believes that Sera is easily influenced, especially by her sister and others, and this skepticism leads her to belittle Sera's judgment. Despite Adina's attempts to undermine her confidence, Sera remains determined and steadfast in her beliefs, refusing to be swayed. Their interactions are ripe with tension and disagreement, with it being clear that neither enjoys the other's company that much, while Adina seems to want to influence Sera and be in the princesses' good graces.
Saint Peter[]
Adina and Saint Peter's relationship appears to be a positive one full of admiration and trust, at least from Peter's side. Adina showers Peter with exaggerated, sugary compliments and adulation, which seem to dissolve any doubts or reservations he may have had in her capabilities. Peter seems to bask in Adina's attention, with his doubts dissipating in the face of her flattery. He is depicted as being delighted by her praise and reassurance.
However, this all crumbled when Peter uncovered Adina's plot after the Chieftess banished Serenity. After intercepting and cornering Peter, Ebony and Tory on their mission to free Serenity, Adina openly admitted that any gestures of goodwill she extended to Peter were all insincere. She let out all the contempt and disdain she secretly held for Peter. While revealing in her deceitful nature and enjoying his emotional turmoil, Adina reminded him of his past betrayal and insinuated that he was unworthy of his place in Heaven, preying on his imposter syndrome.
Tory[]
Adina's relationship with Tory was one of manipulation, dismissal, and hostility. Initially, Adina treated Tory condescendingly, disguising her dismissiveness with curt, sickeningly sweet praise for his loyalty. However, as Tory became aware of her true intentions and deceit, such as when Tory overheard her sinister plans, Adina ordered her drones to hunt him down and didn't bat an eye at Fitch's swift attempt to kill him, demonstrating how little she valued him beyond his pragmatic usefulness and obedience as a messenger who wants to move up in the echelon of cherubs.
Later, when Tory heroically sacrificed himself to protect Serenity from Fitch's attack, Adina - thinking Tory had died in his noble sacrifice - found it hysterical and cruelly mocked his bravery, sadistically cackling at his sacrifice and dismissing him as a mere "child" involved in a war. This proves that Adina viewed Tory as insignificant, a pawn in her quest for power, and shows no regard for his life or loyalty.
Others[]
Charlie Magne[]
While firmly believing that the Hazbin crew should be purged, Adina sees potential in Charlie despite her demonic heritage, recognizing something unique and intriguing about the Princess of Hell. Upon projecting herself to the princes, Adina extended her hand in an offer to guide Charlie towards a proposed path of light, suggesting that she may be worthy of Heaven despite her connection to Hell. Adina proposed a thinly-veld attempt to mold Charlie in her own image, expressing a desire to help Charlie shed his demonic qualities and embrace the virtues of Heaven, believing that she can transform her into a pure being free of sin. Upon being confronted with Adina's offer, Charlie was torn between her fascination with Heaven and her loyalty to Hell and the sinners he cares about. Ultimately, Charlie declined Adina's offer, citing her commitment to her home and her duty to help sinners.
Adina's disappointment was palpable as Charlie rejects her proposal, with her she also expresses understanding and pity. She derided Charlie's stubbornness and pride, traits inherited from her father, and warned the princess of the dangers she faces by choosing to remain in Hell. Adina also warned Charlie that her patients and friends would face their final judgement at her hand regardless of if they were "redeemed".

Chapter 5[]
- "Azrael: (he and Lute enter Heaven's Courtroom, seeing Adina flying through the air and watching Heaven's denizens through levitating, magical orbs; Azrael does fingerguns at Adina while Lute takes off her helmet and bows respectfully) Yo, A-Dawg! We come bearing important shit to chat about! Let's get down to bizz, then you can get back to looking at big balls.
Adina: (with a blissful smile, she ethereally flies down to the two, doing a slow, graceful, extra-ass mid-air back-flip -she did NOT need to do that shit... - before touching down in front of them, putting her hands in a prayer position) Archangel Azrael. Lieutenant Lute. Always a pleasure. You two aren't perfect, but you are the perfect duo.
Azrael: (he nudges Lute's shoulder, who side-eyes him with a stoic expression) You hear that shit, babe?! (he leans against a wall with a smug, dumb smile) I told you she fuckin' loved me.
Lute: (to Adina) Chieftess, forgive me for speaking out of turn, but we have a potentially dire situation in our realm. You are wiser than both of us (Azrael gives her a "the fuck?" kinda look), so we came here to seek your counsel.
Azrael: (to Adina) Let's just say we gotta 'babysit' eight rugrats who came back from a highway to hell.
Adina: (she clasps her hands, like a prayer, smiling blissfully with her eyes closed) Oh? Do tell me more about these... Children of light." - — Lute and Azrael seek Adina's council about Charlie's Angels.
- "Trying to redeem those who have fallen against the grace of the Heavenly Father is absurd and a waste of time and energy. One cannot simply absolve their sins, but can only truly seek forgiveness by undergoing a torturous and painful punishment. And if the Fallen One's own spawn is at the helm of this endeavor, the Lord only knows what poison and devilry they seek to spread and normalize... So, we will do what any rationally-minded, righteous angels would do, my dear Azrael... and purge them all. Every single one of them. In the glorious name of the Most High. Such is the will of the Lord... So it shall be..."
- — Adina.
- "Mercy, forgiveness, and redemption for sinners... Such things are absolute hogwash created by the devil himself! Sinners must be exterminated for the sake of keeping the world free of their taint, their filth, their depravity for the sake of God and all of His children!"
- — Adina.
- "I thoroughly enjoy punishing sinful beings. This pleases the Lord, and He rewards me greatly for my efforts. My only grievance, really, is that there is so much time between exterminations. Why wait a year? Why not punish billions of souls more regularly? I could surely handle the workload!"
- — Adina.
- "Adina: You have something special, princess. Despite your obvious connection to the devil, there's something about you that intrigues me. Perhaps you are worthy of Heaven and not Hell. (Adina extends her hand to Charlie) I could guide you towards the path of the light, and remove the... Less desirable qualities about you.
Charlie: (Charlie looks at Adina's hand) Well... I mean... I would love to see Heaven for myself. It's been something I've wanted to do since I was a kid... But how would you go about doing it? Wouldn't I have to give up the things that make me, well... Me?
Adina: (Adina nods with a smile) Of course! Despite your light, you are still very much a demon and must give up your sinful ways. I will make you into an image of the Lord's light! Free of any icky 'quirks' and sins, and such. Of course, you'd have to leave your 'patients' behind, but it's for the greater good.
Charlie: Well... I'm afraid I have to decline, then. As much as I appreciate your offer, Hell is my home... It's a part of me I'll always want to carry, no matter what. And I made a promise to my people that I wouldn't give up on them until I knew for sure they were ready for Heaven. I hope you understand...
Adina: (Adina lowers her hand and lets out a disappointed sigh, still smiling slightly) Of course I understand... You are the spitting image of your father! A chip off the old block of pride! Beauty of an angel, the ugly and prideful heart of a demon... Your upbringing in Hell has influenced your mind to the point of madness. You have... no idea the horrors that lie ahead. And yet, you choose to stay and help... I truly pity you, but you should not expect your little hotel to bring about the change you claim is possible. I have seen billions of sinners like yours, and believe me when I say it's not pretty when it's time for their ultimate judgment. It's beautiful, really." - — Adina's deal to Charlie.
Holy Hell[]
- "Adina: (while in a bathtub, Adina sighs contentedly. She holds up a bubble from her bath and uses magic to turn the bubble into a toy version of a sinner, mimicking them in a high-pitched voice) 'Nooo! Don't cleanse me! Show mercy, Chieftess Adina! I just want to rape and pillage, watch porn, and not honor the Sabbath day!' (normal voice) There is no mercy, unclean one! (Adina holds the toy underwater as if to drown it, laughing maniacally before imitating a sinner's garbled voice) 'Ah, noooo! I'm being cleansed by Adina's holy light! Where's Satan when you need them?! Aaaaaah, noooo!'
Fitch: (he opens the door, covering his eyes) My Lady? Princess Sera's here for your proposed meeting...
Adina: (Her mischievous grin suddenly turns to one of genuine surprise as she looks up at Fitch through wet hair) Oh, dearie me! (She majestically swirls in the air out of the bath, spawning a holy robe from magic. Humming, she descends gracefully in front of Fitch) Well. Our dear princess is certainly early. I shall see her right away." - — Adina and Fitch before the former's meeting with Sera.
- "Adina: Sera! You're looking as poised and pure as ever! (Adina sits down at a table as she uses magic pour glasses of tea that are neatly laid out on the table) Sit, dear princess, siiit!
Sera: (Sera's eyes flicker with mild annoyance as she sits across from Adina) Lady Adina... a bright ray of light as always, I suppose... and to what do I owe the pleasure?
Adina: (Adina loudly slurps her tea before neatly setting it down and cupping her hands with a beaming, cloying smile) Oh, I just wanted to discuss matters. I was passing by, checking up on things with the lower ranks, making sure the souls of Heaven are following the righteous path as laid out by the Lord, when Fitch told me something VERY interesting, indeed. You understand that I was a bit surprised... But you know how much I love surprises!
Sera: (Sera rolls her eyes, thinking this may have been a waste of time) ...Is this a social call, or are there matters? I'm sure you understand that as Head Seraph, I have many duties to oversee, and can't spare the time for such pleasantries.
Adina: (Adina leans forward with a malicious smirk, speaking with an extremely sarcastic intonation) Oh, I'm SORRY! You are so RIGHT! (she waves her hand) Oh, how foolish of me to presume that I as Chieftess of the Heavenly Court, Keeper of All Peace, et cetera et cetera, can interrupt the Princess of the Seraphim's busy schedule with my own affairs! I guess I was just overcome by the sheer joy of being in your presence. (Adina giggles, and then shifts her tone to a more stern, assertive manner) Anyhow, Fitch told me that you and your little sister cancelled the annual cleanse! ...It is true that you're ACTUALLY considering giving that Princess of Hell's circus the benefit of the doubt?
Sera: (Sera gets up from her seat and approaches a nearby window with her hands behind her back, looking down upon Heaven's bustling streets) It was a difficult decision, granted. But with the princess of Hell's proposal to grant sinners the possibility to enter into Heaven through redemption, I... (Sera pauses, as if not wanting to reveal even the small bits of doubt that she's been harboring for a while) ...Feel that it's the morally right thing to do, and one that the Heavenly Father would support.
Adina: (Adina smiles and uses her wings to fly behind Sera slowly, her piercing gaze locking onto the seraphim) I must say, princess, your judgement is certainly... interesting. (While flying circles around Sera slowly and methodically, Adina takes a pause once beside the seraphim, leaning close to Sera's face) What happened to the morally correct choice of, ooooh, y'know... Annihilating all things evil and sinful?
Sera: (Sera's eyes flicker again, her expression darkening with Adina's words) That was... The choice I originally favored. However... The princess has given me reason to believe that redemption might be a possibility, and one that might be worth exploring. I simply seek... Confirmation, that redemption could be brought to the demon realms, after all. The cleanse only breeds discord and hate among sinners towards a realm meant to welcome them with open arms, should they seek it, of course.
Adina: (Adina comically pats the side of her head to be sure that she isn't hearing things, before shrugging returning to facing Sera) Ho, hum. I think you've spent a (she pinches her fingers) liiiitle too much time with that sister of yours. (she giggles and turns her back to Sera, looking at an orb depicting winners) Y'know, I tried to reason with the princess as well. I extended an olive branch for her to come to Heaven, be cleansed of her demonic heritage, and join us in the light. But, alas, her pride got the better of her, as sadly predictable as it were. She failed me, and she will fail you as well, dear seraphim.
Sera: (sneering) This isn't about making friends or giving up on cleansing the demon realms entirely. It is about giving them a better choice, a chance to turn from their sins and be saved. If the princesses' endeavor proves ineffective... The cleanse will be reinstated. I will not waver in this mission, Adina. So please, stand aside and trust in my judgment in this matter.
Adina: (Adina, with a contended smile, shakes her head in disagreement as she speaks) Y'know, I almost feel sorry for you. You're allowing yourself to be manipulated. (Adina smirks and puts a hand on Sera's shoulder, shaking her slightly for a second in a playful way) But who am I to say?! You're daddy Seraphiel's precious seraphim, after all! (She turns her back to Sera, shrugging cheerfully) Knock yourself out, girl. But I'll be keeping my eye (Adina summons her crystal balls as she says this; they swirl around her) on everything that transpires. This mission going awry won't look good for any of us, but especially you.
Sera: I assure you, I have not permitted myself to be manipulated. I have simply exercised my judgment upon the situation, in line with the angels' ideals and will. There exists good in these demons; I believe I possess the judgment necessary to make such a distinction. (Sera looks at a stained-glass depiction of Seraphiel before hanging her head and closing her eyes) If this mission should fail, though, I assure you that it will not fall upon only me." - — Sera and Adina's meeting revolving the cleanse and redemption.
- "Sera: I just... (she takes a deep breath, trying to compose herself; voice breaking) I don't want to go back. What if... what if there's a possibility that those souls we have extinguished could have been saved...? They are still souls of the Lord and our Great Mother. There's always... light somewhere inside.
Adina: All beings were created by the Lord, but some stray far. The sins they committed and were thinking of committing snuffed out any gift of light granted to them. And that sin... can't simply be forgiven. (Adina cups her hands around Sera's face, the tears in Sera's face reflecting Adina's sickly sweet, twisted smile) You are guiltless. The Lord guided you to agree with me for a reason." - — Sera and Adina.
- "Adina: Oh? Fitch, is that a smile I see? (Adina grins widely)
Fitch: (He smirks softly, begrudgingly sipping some lemonade) What can I say? Schadenfreude is my favorite feeling.
Adina: (Adina leans into him, pinching his cheek) You wanna feel better about yourself, hmm~?
Fitch: (Fitch scoffs) I don't feel anything, ma'am. I simply enjoy the misery of others because it brings me some joy in life. Is it sadistic? Maybe. Do I care? Not particularly.
Adina: (Adina laughs loudly) Oh, Fitch! You- You little devil you! Hahaha! (Hurriedly) Same." - — Adina and Fitch's rare moment of bonding after Serenity and Saint Peter's failure.

Adina: I'm glad you asked!!! (she conjures a golden replica of a sinner in front of her) It wasn't difficult, really. Some sinners need just a little persuasion by the name of angelic mind magic... (as she says this, she clenches her fist and the sinner begins holding their head and screeching in agony, falling into a fetal position as Adina torments them with their most traumatic memories) and HUZZAH!!!! They fall right into the palm of your hand! (the sinner then gets on their knees, literally praying for mercy, producing a prayer which Adina takes) All it really takes is a lil' manipulation, (she rolls it off her arms and shoulders) a couple words, and whaddya know?! (she tosses the "prayer" into the air and it opens its hands, raining dozens upon dozens of prayer mirages that shoot from its palms) PRAYERS GALORE!
Fitch: 'Angelic mind magic'... a forbidden technique. (he smirks) But a necessary sacrifice for the greater good.
Adina: And the rewards will FAR outweigh the risks... once we have enough prayers from the unclean ones. (coyly) Looks like human prayers will have to wait a tad longer... Ho-hum!
Fitch: If you are going through with this, include me on your future prayer-collecting excursions. We can't have you capturing sinners by yourself in Hell and jeopardizing your position. And I could use the exercise.
Adina: (she gasps) You... YOUWANNAPUNISHSINNERSWITHME?!?!?! (Adina's bow tie expands, ensnaring Fitch and dragging him into Adina's embrace) FITCHIE, I'D BE HONORED!!! I'LL LET YOU DEAL THE FINAL BLOW! OR- OR- OR YOU CAN TAKE THE PHOTOS FOR OUR PHOTO ALBUM! (she excitedly spins him around by his wrists, giggling; however, she composes herself) Ahem. (she harshly drops Fitch to the ground) Goodness me, I think this prayer energy's made me more... excited than usual.
Fitch: (laying flat on the ground) I hadn't noticed.
Adina: (she uses telekinesis to summon Fitch back up, pinching his cheeks) Alright, you can join in next time. The faster we capture sinners, the quicker we can show the lowborn the paradise Creation was meant to be!
Fitch: I'll travel down to the Inferno and start with the sinners that no one will miss. And, of course, I mean all of them. (Adina bursts into a cackle that Fitch gradually joins, golden energy swirling around them)" - — A flashback of Adina telling Fitch of the power of prayers.
- "Fitch: With the bothersome seraphim out of the way, what should be done about any of her lingering friends? They're not reacting very positively to her removal... And she's made MANY a friend in this world.
Adina: 'Friends'. The same way a mascot is 'friends' with the little children who clap for them. (She laughs dismissively.) Sure. But, y'see, Fitchie, I want nothing more than what's best for Heaven. They will all have to learn to accept change. She raises a finger.) That, and my unquestionable rule. Obviously! ...Ugh! How come whenever the seraph wants change, it's "wHoLeSoMe", "FrEThInKiNg" and "diVeRSe", but when I want change it's 'unethical', 'despotic' or 'genocidal'?! SWEET TOASTER STRUDEL-
Fitch: FOCUS!
Adina: Oh, right. Ahem. ...And to have the most perfect creation we can achieve, there are but two steps to take!
Fitch: (Sarcastically) Oh, I'm just DYING to know.
Adina: Oh, you SERIOUSLY want me to give away my master plans, my machinations, and schemes?! (Adina feigns offense, before smiling like an exited puppy) Okay, okay, I'll tell ya! But only since I'm in such a generous and joyous mood!
Fitch: (sarcastically) Infectious as ever.
Adina: (She flies onto a table, using magic to create an image of the Seraphim family crest.) Step one... (She clenches her fist, causing it to dissolve, complete with the sounds of pained screaming.) Purge the Seraphim Order and all their allies! (She shakes her wrist like an exited child.) And, oh, boy!!! You're just gonna LOVE step two!
Fitch: Oh, I'm leaping in anticipation, Your Honor. Please bestow upon me the transcendental secrets of this... 'Step two'.
Adina: Step two, my sweet and adorable Fitch... (She flashes a unhinged smile.) Crush all sin in the universe. (She creates visions of Heaven itself crusading across the stars, sinners being mass-exterminated and entire civilizations being wiped out by Heaven.) With me at the helm, Heaven itself will sail the stars, wiping out all of the unclean ones, one...by...one. Then ALL of existence will kneel before Heaven, which I will lead as the most pure angel! As God's divine hand of justice! (She makes a "come hither" gesture to Fitch, who is unwillingly levitated out of his chair, beside Adina.) And I want you to be here by my side. Just as you wished. We will be the ultimate symbol of order and perfection for all to admire and envy!
Fitch: ...You really have lost your mind, haven't you? (She puts a hand to his chin, looking aside) ...Or did she lose that a long time ago...?" - — Adina and Fitch conspiring again.
- "Adina: (she taps her cheek) Now, what to do with the non-sinners... Surely some will rebel against us. I've silenced many a soul who sympathize with the Hell dwellers.
Fitch: (he rolls his eyes, cleaning his beloved trident) Just put them into camps and cleanse their souls until they are so holy they can recite the Bible by heart. And if that doesn't work... (he wipes his trident, producing a slicing noise, looking at his reflection in the gold) Put them to the sword.
Adina: (she looks horrified) Oh, Fitch! Fitch, Fitch, Fitch. You... (she puts her hands to her cheeks, grinning adorably with sparkles around her) ARE A UNIVERSAL ♪♪TREASUREEEEE♪♪!!! Conversion camps for those resistant to our reign, genius!!! I knew I promoted you for a reason! (she growls playfully) Why didn't I think of that?!
Fitch: (bluntly) 'Cuz you're high off your fucking mind from prayer energy, Your Honor." - — Fitch and Adina.
- "Sera: (Flashback; a younger Sera's eyes widen as Adina enters the sanctum with her, in a gorgeous, ethereal gown.) My... (She approaches Adina and bows her head respectfully.) Ever since we found you in the thralls of war, I had every faith - even in your downtrodden state - that you would rise and do right by the angelic order, Adina. Your family would be proud. (She goes to adjust Adina's bow tie.)
Adina: (With a proud, serene smile, Adina raises her hands with palms open, a gesture for Sera to stop.) I know. (Sera's smile fades as she shifts away and lowers her heads, Adina adjusting her bow tie for herself.)
Seraphiel: (He enters the room, holding the hand of his latest child, who is flying in a teetering, uncontrolled way. His eyes light up as he sees Adina.) Oh, my dear... You look beautiful! Why, you're practically glowing!! (He looks down at the child, who gazes up at Adina.) Adina, before you go, there's someone I'd like you to meet. This is Serenity. My latest angelette.
Adina: (To Seraphiel, with an amused smirk and eye eyebrow raised.) Another? My, the Great Mother must favor you deeply, shining her light of life upon you time and again. (She lowers her gaze at Serenity—around three years old at this point—, who giggles innocently as she looks up at Adina with a mouth-open grin. Serenity's seraphic eyes open and close throughout her body and wings arbitrarily.) ....She has her father's eyes, I see." - — Adina, Sera, and Seraphiel in a flashback; Adina becomes Chieftess of Justice and meets little Serenity.
- "Saint Peter: Oh, crabapples... (he, Ebony, and Tory are surrounded by cherubs, possessed by Adina's magic)
Angels: (they all speak in Adina's voice) You will commit to Adina, or be treated no different than Hellspawn. Adina. Is... The Gospel.
Fitch: (he comes out from the crowd with his golden armor and trident, pushing the possessed out of his way) Enough with the self-glorification, Your Honor...
Angels: (still in Adina's voice) What? I'm right, aren't I?!
Saint Peter: Adina... You're... You're really behind all of this?
Adina: Oh, you didn't know?
Saint Peter: So... all those vows to protect Heaven, all those... THOUGHTFUL words you said to me... none of it was true? No... You... you wrote me a very nice birthday card!!!
Adina: (she giggles) Dearie, I am protecting Heaven. (shrugging) But, yes I might've told you some little white lies... And that birthday card? I had Fitch write it for me. Couldn't bother. (Saint Peter's jaw drops to the floor and he hangs his head)
Ebony: (she puts a hand on Peter's shoulder) That's rough, dude...
Tory: Wait a minute... (to Peter) You didn't believe us?!
Saint Peter: I... (sighs) I'm sorry, little guy.
Fitch: (he chuckles rhythmically with his mouth closed) Oh, come now. Peter here knows a thing or two about being... unfaithful.
Ebony: (she shields Tory) Don't you dare talk to him! Or Peter!
Fitch: Oh, you forgot, didn't you?
Adina: (through the angels, feigning being shocked) Oh, dear me! Such hostility! (the angels tilt their head demonically) What's the matter, Peter? Is Fitchie perhaps telling the truth? (to Ebony) Why so defensive, Ebony dearie?! Why the need for protection from one who would sell you out at a moments notice?
Ebony: Ha! Peter wouldn't EVER sell us out!
Adina: (she cackles evilly, wiping a tear) Oh, so naive, Ebony! Sweetheart, Saint Peter is more of a sinner than he looks! (she gives Peter a devious, hard look) But let's test that loyalty, shall we? Peter... will you give these two the same fealty you failed to give Him? Will you... DENY them, as you did Him?
Ebony: (everyone looks at Peter, who just has his head hung in shame) That...
Tory: That was a long time ago! Peter's grew since then! Why else would he be accepted into Heaven?!
Fitch: Leeching off His infinite kindness, I surmise.
Adina: (shares a head shake with Fitch) Once a sellout, always a sellout.
Fitcher: (he stands beside the possessed angels) But deep down, he knows he doesn't belong here. No... (he aims his trident at Peter) He belongs on the head of a spear, like all. Sinners. DO." - — Peter, Ebony and Tory are surrounded by Adina's possessed victims.
- "Adina: (She cackles.) Oh, Fitchie! THIS IS IT!!! Our crusade against the damned can finally begin! You know deep down inside, you want this just as much as me! I'd be the unquestioned ruler of Everything, as praised as God Himself, and you, my precious Fitch... (With a cheerful smile.) ...will finally be worth a damn!
Fitch: (He leans on his golden trident, pacing amongst the death and subjugation around him.) I must admit, this newfound insanity of yours... has a certain charming allure to it. Good to see you broadening your horizon, I suppose. Still, I have my doubts about the entire 'purging all sin' bit. Boner-inspiring, though it may be, I fear you would be left with no one to rule when we're finished. It would be like shooting yourself in the foot. You might... finally be.... humbled. (A smile creeps on his face in slow realization.) ...On second thought, count me in. (He conjures his spear, bringing the butt of it down on a group of miniature sinner projections) To us... The most holy pair in the Universe.
Adina: (She cackles.) That's the spirit! We love order and all that jazz, but sometimes... (Her eyes glow yellow with sinister intent.) Sometimes you just need a little chaos to make things interesting, don't you? (She cackles insanely, using prayer energy to manipulate Heaven itself)" - — Adina and Fitch while subjugating Heaven.
- "Adina: (She cackles as she forces all of Halo City's denizens into prayer positions, prayers flying from them and towards her.) OOOH, THERE THEY ARE!!! GIMMEGIMMEGIMME!!! (She takes a prayer, holding it to Fitch as a toast.) To cleanse the Universe of all the little fuckie-wuckies! (She giggles as she tries to absorb the prayer, but unceremoniously, it transfers no power into her. Adina's eyes widen in embarrassment.) Erm... A mere happy accident, is all! (She snatches another prayer.) GIMME!!! (She absorbs it, but it is a dud as well.) WHAT THE HEAVEN?! (She begins frantically aborsing prayer after prayer. All duds.)
Fitch: (He groans, rubbing his brow.) For fuck's sake, have you forgotten that prayers have to come from the HEART?! Like you haven't managed this shit since you had braces?! You can't force these fools onto their hands and knees and fuck a prayer out of them!
Adina: ...OOOOOH!!! (She smacks her forehead.) A-DOH! Look at me, being educated by a sinner. (She scoffs and composes herself.) Well, don't worry, Fitch. (She looks upon Heaven's denizens with a sinister grin.) I'll get prayers out of all of them. (She raises a hand, which is sparkling with lightning.) Even if I have to torture every single one of them." - — Adina's failed plan to get more prayers.
- "Serenity: (After preventing Adina from torturing Heaven's denizens, she flies up to Adina, appearing from a ball of fire, her eyes and wings still aflame with divine anger.) Forgetting someone?!
Adina: (She throws herself back.) Oh, just when we were getting to the really fun part! I swear to God, a girl can't monologue for ONE minute without being interrupted!!! (She and Serenity glare at each other, and Adina speaks as if she were the mother catching her daughter sneaking home past curfew.) Did I give you permission to leave that void, young lady?
Serenity: (She huffs, meeting Adina's mocking tone.) Well, seconds before I could learn the HORRIBLE 'error' of my sinner-hugging ways... My friend told me our home was in need of hope and serenity.
Adina: (She fake-gasps.) Oh, that's adorable. Truly, I'm touched. A rebellion? How juciyyy! It's like an old fairy tale - the one you think we all live in! (Adina fake-sighs with mock pity, before her tone turns harsher.) But, y'wanna know a harsh fact? Fairy tales usually don't have the happiest endings for the fabled protagonist. I'm more of a skip-to-the-end kinda gal... And you've been a thrown in my side for far. Too. Long.
Serenity: (She remains hovered in front of Adina.) Do your worst, you VILE WITCH.
Adina: (She giggles.) Oh, no, no, no, sweetie.... (Her eyes shine gold.) I'll do my absolute BEST." - — Serenity confronts Adina.
- "Fitch: A persistent bunch, aren't they?
Adina: (She groans like a teenager.) I swear to GOD, like cockroaches, they just won't DIE!!! Well, now that they're here, Fitchie... Go take their attention away and start cutting down the masses." - — Adina and Fitch when confronted by Serenity and Saint Peter.
- "Adina: (sitting on Dragon Fitch's back, watching in satisfaction as Serenity desperately cradles the seemingly dead Tory) Tsk, tsk... (like a mother scolding a child) Now do you see what happens when you drag children into war, Serenity???? (she sighs dramatically in fake disappointment, loving every second of Serenity and Peter's anger and sadness) What a shame! Such a noble, young mind tarnished by demon partisans! Oooh, what a cautionary tale for ALL ages!!!
Dragon Fitch: (he bristles and hisses, as if to scoff) What a waste of fire power. That brat wasn't worth the slaughter. But, all the more, he meets a deserv-ed fate for getting involved in matters far more magnanimous than he could ever hope to be." - — Adina and Dragon Fitch's cold remarks at Tory's sacrifice.
- "(Adina's eyes widen as very own companion, her right-hand man, her partner in crime is slain right in front of her, Adina's eyes fill with shock and disbelief, her mind racing furiously as she covers her mouth with both hands.) No... nonononoNONOOO!! (She puts her hands to the sides of her head, smiling in an unhinged way, tears trapped in her eyes and her hair flowing in waves.) This cannot be... This won't be. No, no, no. Never. Never, never. This can't be happening... Nope, nope, it's a dream, a terrible, terrible dream! (Adina abruptly screams in denial of the gruesome fact, prayer energy exploding around her as she looks at Saint Peter) I WILL FEED YOUR DIRTY LITTLE SOUL TO THE MAGGOTS OF HELL!!!"
- — Adina's reaction to Fitch's death.
- "Serenity: (Mid-battle) And Adina? ...There's something I've always been meaning to tell you... [...] Do you remember your prayer, the one you made in your childhood? It was answered!
Adina: (She shoots Serenity a confused look before laughing.) Is this some kind of cruel joke?! (She blasts Serenity away with holy magic, though her shield prevents the magic from causing her any real harm.) I love a cruel joke or two, but that's a bit out-of-character for YOU, no?
Serenity: Can't you see?! Prayers come from the HEART. ...When you lost your family and prayed for all sin to be gone, that wasn't what your heart wanted! What you really desired... Was to not be alone, to not feel pain anymore! And that prayer- It was answered when Sera and Dad took you in when you lost everything!!!
Adina: (Adina looks briefly taken aback... until she snorts.) Hahaha- HAHAHA!!! So, you think YOU of all creatures can dictate the desires, pain, and suffering of others?! (she ascends above Serenity, smirking smugly) I'm the one who does that. You, whose father gifted you with EVERYTHING! EVERYTHING I WAS DENIED! Oh, look at you, preaching and pleading for the humans like the little fool you are. Lemme ask you something: Why can't YOU see... That what I'm doing... Is what YOU SHOULD BE DOING, TOO?!" - — Adina and Serenity during their fight.
- "Adina: (she giggles) It's so cute, watching you try to stop our crusade! Now why don't you be a good girl and go back to your place? (she encases Serenity in a holy sphere which progressively shrinks, slowly crushing her inside) Let the adults talk. My word and law...-
Serenity: (she unfurls her seraphic wings, shattering the sphere in an instant) IS NOTHING COMPARED TO HEAVEN AND HEART!!!" - — Adina and Serenity mid-battle.
- "Adina: (giggling) I commend you, traitors of the angelic order. I've never been pushed to bring back... (she raises her hand as the clouds above her darken and swirl; lightning strikes her palm, creating a lightning and flame-laden spear; she cackles as Heaven's denizens look up in terror) Does this bring back any nostalgic memories for our elders?!?! Yes, the heavenly flame that cleansed Sodom and Gomorrah. Or, as I like to call it, Old Reliable. Perfect for cleansing all that has been so thoroughly poisoned by sin.
Sera: (desperately; on the verge of tears) Adina, my dear, I beg you! Don't do this!!!
Serenity: You'll... you'll kill everyone!!!
Adina: (in a joyful tone) And the children born under my new order will praise me for it. I've had it up to HERE with ALL OF YOU allowing sin to taint our world!!! Your mewling over (mockingly) 'MeCy FoR tHe DaAaAamNed'!!! (normal) Our order is broken!!! Every day, every second, they commit horrible acts against against God, and have the AUDACITY to ask for absolution after they've corruption your hearts! You took my order from me, (voice breaking) Fitch... No more... Hahaha! AAAAH-HAHAHAHA!!!! AN EYE FOR AN EYE!!!! This shall be the starting point of my crusade for a saintly world!!!" - — Adina prepares to destroy Heaven.
???[]
- "Peter: (she, Peter, and Tory run around in the underground of Heaven; dead end after dead end until they find one passageway into a small room; they instinctively run in) I think we're good here. Whew... Everyone alright?
Tory: Yeah.. but why does it feel... Too easy?
Adina: (her echoing laughter fills the room) C'mon, Tory, don't be so paranoid! This safe room was surely just sitting here waiting for you all to run in. Sometimes miracles just... happen! Not for you, of course, but for those who deserve them...
Ebony: (looking around with the other two) What the heaven are you talking about? You trick us into coming in here with some (she mimics projecting magic) dark, deceitful holy power or something?
Adina: Aaaand she's right!! All that prayer-siphoning's given this gal a boatload of new powers to play with!!! And you kids sure made this easy. And not just you three scamps, the whole angelic order! Delivering prayers, passing my legislations, and keeping the Extermination going for as long as you id... and all I had to do was smile and bang a gravel once in a while. Appreciate the heavy lifting!
Tory: So that’s your game?! You used us to get what you want?!
Adina: (bowing mockingly) Bingo. Anyhoo, I have some plotting to do with Fitch. Loose ends, gotta tie 'em! Oh, and one more thing... (a divine gate slams shut, sealing the gang inside the room)
Ebony: (she runs up and struggling against the bars) Fuck! Hey! (she pulls at the divine gate with all her might, jumping up and pressing her boots against the wall beside the door for extra strength, her mask making a ">.<" expression) LET US OUT OF HERE, YOU CRAZY WITCH!!
Adina: (she mystically appears on the other side of the bars, leaning forward and grinning through the gate) I'll leave you two in here, but don't worry! (Adina snaps her fingers, conjuring a ball in the center of the room, displaying Heaven's denizens going throughout their say) Because I'm just the bestest ever, I'll give you guys a front-row seat to Heaven's subjugation. Free of charge! Grab some snacks.
Peter: NO! ...You won't win! Heaven's impregnable!!! (laughing) And, moreover, you're MAD overdosing on crazy pills if you think you can break the will of Heaven's people!
Adina: ((she claps like a child) Oh, and the best part is gonna be figuring out what to do with you all! (musing, finger on her chin) Should I just fill the room with poisonous gas and call it a day...? Oh! Or maybe subject you all to some angelic mind control! (to Tory) Hey, Tory! You might be a guardian angel yet, buddy! My personal shield of justice!
Ebony: (she and Peter get defensive, both of them guarding Tory) Don't you dare speak to him.
Adina: Ah, who am I kidding? Toxic gas! Oldie but a goldie. (she mocking bows while praying) Aight, good luck, kiddos. (she vanishes in a bright flash of light)" - —
- "Izzi: Oi... Let's team up an' 'ave a go at them hotel c****, shall we, mates?
Adina: (to Izzi) Ah, a sinful proposition indeed! I don't like dilly-dallying in the presence of you beasts for too long. (musing; playful) Buuut, then again, I suppose you're not the only sinner I've collaborated with...
Valentino: (to Adina) That's what they always say, baby. But, when you get to know us, you come to enjoy our 'presence'... Whether ya like it or not.
Leviathan: (to Izzi) Still lobbin' about those foolish, infantile instruments o' destruction, Izzi? Devil's tail, it be as if ye half-simian souls never evolved past throwin' yer own primordial dung. Ain't no artistry in a measly explosion. Senseless slaughter be a delicate, hallowed art! A craft what requires finesse. It’s all in the makin' ‘em suffer, not just the blowin’ ‘em to smithereens.
Larson: (INSANE, UNINTELLIGIBLE LAUGHTER)
Adina: (to Larson) Hehehe! ...I'm gonna need some hot coals for that filthy mouth of yours." - — The main villains vibing.
- "Fitch: (he summons his prayer-powered armor and trident trident, pointing the trident out towards Adina with a smug grin) Both of us, divine crusaders fueled by the cries of the Universe! Now... let's indulge in competition to see which amongst us is more bless-ed, shall we?
Adina: (she cackles, her hands forming into sharp, talon like weapons as the yellow flames of prayer energy surround her form and flow from her eyes) Daring today, aren't we? Ffffinee, but only because you look so cute with your little armor and that snazzy toothpick! The victor claims dibs on the first billion sinners. Loser cleans up the mess." - — Adina and Fitch before a friendly spar.
Trivia[]
- She is obviously based on the scrapped character of the same name from the ZooPhobia webcomic.
- Her theme song would be "Poor Unfortunate Souls" by Pat Carroll.
- The series' authors consider Adina to be part of the "Terrible Trio" of Journey to the Light, along with Vox and Roo. Adina is the archenemy to the Heaven cast, Vox is the archenemy of the Hazbin gang, and Roo is the archenemy of everyone.
- Adina has a notable sweet tooth, but she doesn't let that spoil the fun in her job as an enforcer of divine law and retribution.
- Her favorite food is strawberry shortcake.
- Adina keeps a logbook which she writes with a quill as she oversees the winners of Heaven while surveying them. She typically writes damning comments in which she heavily critiques the denizens of Heaven in their day-to-day lives.
- Unlike other angels, who fly or hover with their bodies vertical and upright, Adina exclusively flies/hovers horizontally, making her resemble that of a fish while flying around. She even shakes the skirt of her dress while flying, like a fish would shake its tail while swimming.
- In Haven, Adina held classes for the Exorcists, teaching doctrine and delivering sermons centered on her "one drop of sin" philosophy to indoctrinate them. She would also invite winners or winner Exorcists who had been betrayed or harmed by sinners to come forward, relive their trauma, and tell their stories to the army, using their experiences to amplify the Exorcists' hatred toward sinners.
- Would say "huzzah!!!" unironically.
- In hindsight, it can be inferred that Adina's initial determination to turn Charlie against Hell stemmed from her desire to hurt and exact revenge on Lucifer, the one responsible for her family's deaths. She believed that completely turning Lucifer's own daughter against him would be the ultimate insult to his pride and the most profound way to wound him psychologically.
- When one of her servants or fellow court officials displeases her, Adina likes to get back at them in subtle ways they wouldn't even notice, like hiding their TV remotes. She is the kind of person where if you don't say "bless you" when she sneezes, she'd take your potatoes chips when you weren't looking, lick the seasoning off each chip, and carefully put them back in the bag.
- She knows how to ballet dance, and sometimes invites Fitch over to join her.
- It is mentioned numerous times that Adina was the destroyer of Sodom and Gomorrah. In Abrahamic religions, Sodom and Gomorrah were two ancient cities mentioned in the Bible, specifically in the Book of Genesis (chapters 18 and 19). The cities were destroyed because their inhabitants were universally sinful and unrepentant. The cities were guilty of arrogance, neglecting the poor and needy, and committing sexually immorality.
- Adina is the only main antagonist of a chapter that the Hazbins never directly fight against.
- At one point, Adina mentions that she and Fitch have a photo album.
- Fitch claims that Adina once ate a dragon's heart, raw.
- One of Adina's tics is that when she annoyed or on the brink of anger, her eye twitches and she smiles forcefully.
- When Vaggie was in Limbo, Adina was one of the angels who had voted for Vaggie to be condemned to Hell.
- According to Fitch, Adina used to have braces.
- She can somehow understand Larson when he speaks through insane laughter.
- Adina's role in Chapter 5 was intended to be significantly larger. However, her role in the Chapter was shortened, both due to the time and the creators' interest in her playing a major role in Holy Hell.
- There are intentionally numerous parallels between Adina and Sera, and they are intended to be counterparts to each other.
- Both are angels of Heaven with very high positions of power.
- Both share animal motifs, Adina's being a fish while Sera's is a bird (birds eat fish, I'm just sayin').
- Both are orderly, poised, and quick to remind others of etiquette and manners.
- Both harbor doubts regarding the efficacy of peaceful solutions to the issue of Hell's infernal overpopulation.
- They are both greatly annoyed by Azrael's antics and behavior.
- Both play a role in the Extermination, with Sera being one of the high angels that approved the idea, while Adina directly manages the Exorcists along with Azrael.
- Despite this, there are obviously differences between the two. Sera maintains composure consistently, even amidst stress, lending weight to her attempts to encourage proper behavior in others. Conversely, Adina exudes a more goofy demeanor and attempts to exert control over others' lives seemingly without reason, diminishing the sincerity of her efforts to maintain propriety. While Sera reluctantly greenlit the Extermination out of fear and to safeguard Heaven from the Root of All Evil, Adina's endorsement stemmed from insanity and her misguided belief in the cleanse as a divine tribute. Furthermore, Sera demonstrates clear remorse regarding the cleanse, showing no enjoyment in it and was even willing to listen to Charlie's ideas for redemption and displayed empathy towards Charlie despite the princess' later outburst. In contrast, Adina is an unapologetic sadist, deriving pleasure from the suffering of demons and leaving no room for Charlie to express her ideas for rehabilitation during their encounter.
