"Why does the heart beat without being told to? Why does Rover scratch furniture? Why does little Timmy put a fork in the electrical socket? Why does every little thing, everywhere and when in Creation, feel the urge to do something completely and utterly pointless? Because boredom, my dear! Sheer, unadulterated BOREDOM! I'm here to crave a new form of entertainment! Because... Why not? This silly place is the cat's pajamas, the berries, the BEE'S KNEES! And when nothing has any meaning nor value, the only thing left to do is throw aside all sense of 'responsibility', or whatever you call the little shackle keeping our feet on the ground, and enjoy yourself! Let's misbehave, dear! Life and the hereafter have no meaning and made no sense, so you might as well make nonsense!"
— Alastor to Charlie.

Lord Alastor Hartfelt of Pride, also known in Hell as The Radio Demon, is the tritagonist of Hazbin Hotel: Journey to the Light.

A mysterious, eldritch dealmaker, Alastor is one of Hell's most feared, villainous, notorious Overlords, archdemons, and diplomats, widely known for the constant, unnaturally wide, toothy grin on his face. In life, he was an infamous serial killer, stage performer, and well-known radio host from New Orleans, Louisiana who lived in the early 20th century before he was killed in a dog-related hunting accident in 1933. Before his death and murder spree, Alastor ascended to full demonhood, shedding his mortal limitations and walking among the living after making a blood deal with a sinister force of malevolence from beyond the mortal world.

Following his death and manifesting in Hell, Alastor, all in the span of one night, toppled over Overlords who had ruled over the Pride Ring unopposed for centuries, boasting power of eldritch origins that had never harnessed before in a mortal soul and destroying decades' worth of ancient hierarchies, becoming an Overlord himself by technicality. During this period, he took over all of Hell's radio technology and relentlessly terrorized the population of Pentagram City, broadcasting his atrocities, carnage, and the torture of his victims through the radio for the populace to witness, indirectly earning himself the title of "The Radio Demon", and garnering a reputation as an all-powerful, vengeful and monstrous tyrant who tormented and destroyed all who stood in the way of his cryptic goals. He garnered a reputation as a spirit of revenge, due to the tortures and punishments he inflicted upon sinners.

Decades later, having grown bored of his recent escapades and feeling aimless as a result, Alastor, after essentially going missing from the airwaves and public view for decades, began to take an interest in the Happy Hotel as well as its owner, the Princess of Hell, Charlie Magne, after seeing her catastrophic interview of the hotel and brawl with Katie Killjoy on the 666 News. Finding the idea of an operation that rehabilitates sinners absurd (yet intriguing at the same time), the Radio Demon joined forces with the Princess of Hell to assist her with running and advertising the business (which he renamed the Hazbin Hotel shortly after his recruitment), although he made it very clear that he is doing so not out of altruism, but because of the potential entertainment value he sees in watching the patients' repeated failure to better themselves.

He often acts as the devil on Charlie's shoulder, pushing the pure-hearted princess to be more cutthroat, devious, and ruthless, like himself. Alastor also has a personal vendetta against Heaven, and often manipulates Charlie's dreams and plans to further some plot he has against the holy kingdom. He serves as the wickedly charismatic Cheshire cat of the hotel, devious and playful with a sadistic sense of humor, possessing the flair of a depression-era showman.

Biography

Life

Alastor was born in New Orleans, Louisiana to a Creole mother and Caucasian father around the late 1800s. Shortly after his birth, Alastor's father abandoned him and his mother, likely in order to dodge the racial prejudice that was rampant in the 20th century, leaving his mother to raise Alastor alone.

Growing up a biracial child in the early 1900s, Alastor was regularly met with prejudice and alienated by society for his racial upbringing, with the most prominent example being a group of children who would regularly antagonize him over his upbringing. Despite the abuse he endured, he would always be comforted and loved by his mother, who was Alastor's only strong emotional connection throughout his life.

Growing up, Alastor was a theater kid, regularly sneaking into his town's theater to watch the latest Broadway plays, fantasizing about one day being on the stage as well. Alastor was also kept away from the subpar and biased education system available for people of his background at the time and was instead homeschooled. As a result, he knew how to cook, clean, and do math at a very young age. He grew up under the influence of his mother, who instilled in him the value of smiling in the midst of challenges and doubters. Embracing her philosophy that a smile makes a person stronger, he made it a guiding principle in his life. Alastor was not abused or raised wrong, but rather lived an overall happy and passionate childhood despite the occasional discrimination.

When Alastor's mother passed away, he watched over her while smiling through tears. He swore to her that he would never stop smiling from that day in honor of her.

In his adulthood, Alastor traveled the country, befriending wealthy actress Mimzy during his stay in New York while helping her from a drunken stupor as appreciation for her telling a racist nobleman off. Additionally, he was also an avid deer hunter. During his adventures, Mimzy generously used her musical theater connections to get Alastor his dream job working as a vaudeville performer. During this, Alastor maintained a side job at a radio station back in Louisiana, where many hosts were charmed by his talent and upbeat attitude, and so he was given his own show to test if audiences would like him, resulting in him becoming a popular radio show host, along side his broadcasting mate Mike. He worked very hard to keep his beloved jobs, especially as his employers were weary of people from his background.

He lived during the early 20th century, having witnessed the Stock Market Crash of 1929 as well as many horrific incidents of the early 1900s. Alastor benefited greatly from the Great Depression era, using his charisma, acting talent, charmingly grim sense of humor and radio show to lift the spirits of countless people, providing some sense of escapism and giving them hope for better days. The homeless would crowd around his public radio displays to listen to him. Despite living through these events, Alastor himself claimed that he lived a passionate and idyllic life and was content with his conditions.

At some point after or before his success as a radio show host, Alastor, weary of enduring the scorn and being underestimated of humanity (and wanting to be above them), turned to Voodoo magic to transcend his human limitations. Through this arcane practice, he established a connection with a sinister force beyond the realms of his world, enabling him to communicate with it and wield a fraction of its power for his own ends. He used the voodoo techniques taught to him by his mother in his crimes, perverting it and using it for his own evil intentions.

Alastor struck a bargain with a malevolent entity, which promised him unparalleled power and immunity from any mortal disturbance, both in his current life and beyond, in exchange for a gruesome act: the sacrifice of a family member. Unfazed by the darkness of the pact, Alastor proceeded, utilizing the blood of his first victim to inscribe the symbol of the sinister force within an enclosed room where he conducted a ritual. This ritual facilitated a brief but chilling encounter between Alastor and the otherworldly entity, as it emerged from the sigil to meet his gaze, extending its hand towards him. Alastor took hands with the force and a wave of euphoric joy engulfed him, and he found himself unable to stop laughing. His laughter soon turned to screaming. He found joy in his unfathomable pain as the entity's roots spread up his arm and charred his flesh, the pain intensifying with each passing moment as he was torn from a human existence spiritually.

During that moment, Alastor underwent a euphoric reunion that transcended anything he had ever encountered in the realm of the physical. It was an experience akin to existing everywhere and everywhen, intertwined with all mortal beings, yet discerning the distinct elements of this boundless existence. Following this profound encounter, Alastor shed his humanity, transforming into something beyond human comprehension. Moreover, he grew wary of accounts claiming serene afterlife experiences, such as attending golden kingdoms or riding on the backs of birds, for what he had encountered merely through contact with the malevolent force was infinitely more eldritch and incomprehensible. Its inexplicable nature defied any attempt at description, far surpassing any earthly notion of existence or transcendence.

After this, Alastor - now a demon in human's skin - became a notorious and elusive serial killer. Coming out of the ritual with permanently blackened hands, a charred arm and a scarred chest, Alastor resigned to wearing white gloves for the rest of his earthly existence to hide the results of his deal, continuing his facade as a charming, harmless, and charismatic radio show host to lower suspicion of himself having a hand in the murders he committed. No one would entertain or fathom the possibility that the carefree and seemingly harmless radio host that essentially guided millions through one of the darkest eras in American history could be capable of such atrocities. Alastor exploited this loyalty from his listeners and enthusiasts to remain unsuspicious.

Alastor's motivation to begin murdering people is currently unknown, although it is implied that he was motivated by the attention and notoriety he would earn from his murders, as well as to please the entity he made a deal with and satisfy his demonic urges. Some of his murders were done out of (often petty) revenge, others for entertainment, and some for sacrificial means. Alastor would also begin devouring parts of his victims, viewing humans as so below him that they were only worth of sustenance. He was a methodical, sadistic, and calculating killer, carefully plotting out every one of his murders, charming unsuspecting victims with a smile, killing and occasionally torturing his victims whenever the opportunity presented itself. After murdering his victims, he would typically bury their corpses in the same deer hunting ground he would regularly hunt at.

In a conversation between himself and Charlie, Alastor dubiously implied that his father was his first victim. It is left ambiguous whether he was being sincere in a darkly comedic way or was simply telling a dark joke.

Death

Alastor's reign of terror on Earth came to an end when he died in 1933. While taking his victims' corpses out to the hunting ground one winter, Alastor kneeled down and began feasting on their remains like an animal. A hunter came across this display, accompanied by a pack of hunting dogs. One of the dogs barked at Alastor's direction, leading to the hunter mistaking Alastor for a deer (or any wild animal) and hastily shooting at him, resulting in Alastor being mortally wounded. Alastor attempted to escape, but the hunter, having not yet realized his mistake, sicced the pack of hunting dogs on the wounded serial killer. Due to his injuries, Alastor was unable to escape and was viciously mauled to death by the canines, ending his wicked life once and for all.

Arriving in Hell/Reign of Terror

Following his death, Alastor manifested in the Pride Ring of Hell, specifically in Pentagram City, and in an interesting turn of events, he was reborn with an inexplicably immense amount of eldritch power that had never been harnessed before by a another soul. Using this immense new-found power, Alastor quickly began terrorizing the populace, toppling Overlords who had been dominant for centuries, and causing widespread mayhem. Whenever Alastor bested an Overlord, he would banish the defeated demons into an ungodly pocket dimension he called "The Show", trapping them in a never-ending cycle of being tortured, humiliated, and murdered, with each death more degrading and brutal than the last.

Alastor also used the then-new radio technology to broadcast both his carnage across Pentagram City and the torture of the former Overlords for all of Hell to witness as a way to induce and spread fear across the realm, leading to him being dubbed as "the Radio Demon" by Hell's populace. He relentlessly terrorized and tortured the denizens of Pentagram City, and at the peak of his power, he ruled over all of Pentagram City purely by the great fear he instilled in others, with his reign of terror being so notable that it even earned him the attention and friendship of the King of Hell himself, Lucifer Magne, who grew to respect Alastor's methods and knowledge of the dark arts. During his time in Hell, Alastor became friends with Mimzy, and fellow demon Overlord, Rosie, and the soul owner of Husk and Niffty, as well as thousands of miscellaneous sinners.

However, Alastor's reign over Pentagram City was ultimately short-lived. His takeover of Pentagram City and removal of its Overlords eventually led to a new wave of more powerful sinners taking their place. Alastor's lack of interest in power and the usual dealings of the Overlords also left a power vacuum that could be filled by newer sinners without the previous Overlords hindering their efforts. One of these new Overlords was a TV Demon named Vox, who possessed an obsession for newer technology, and quickly grew into a formidable rival to Alastor. Due to the rise of newer technology, such as television and Wi-Fi, Vox grew to outshine and overthrow Alastor as Hell's top Overlord. As a result of Vox outshining him, as well as Pentagram City, becoming overrun with newer Overlords, such as the moth demon, Valentino, and the Internet Demon, Velvette, Alastor lost his position as the de-facto ruler of Pentagram City. However, he was unfazed by this and decided to take a more casual approach to things, returning to being a radio show host and living his afterlife "normally" amongst other sinners, although he was still immensely feared by Hell's populace on an almost universal level, even by the Overlords who took his place, to some extent.

Personality

"Charlie: You seem cheerful today.
Alastor: Why wouldn't I be? A day spent watching the hopes and dreams of everyone around me slowly crumble is a day worth being cheerful over!
"
— Alastor and Charlie.

Mysterious, unpredictable, and fully capable of masking his true intentions underneath a seemingly charming exterior, Alastor is an immensely sadistic, misanthropic, blasphemous, unrepentant, whimsically wicked murderer and tyrant who gains immense joy in watching people suffer and causing widespread pain and misery, with a penchant for broadcasting his atrocities throughout Pentagram City, forcing thousands to watch and listen to his various crimes. Unrestrained and unapologetic, he revels in the agony and failure of others, deriving immense pleasure from their suffering. This penchant is glaringly evident in the chilling flashbacks depicting his malevolent influence as he tormented entire cities within the Pride Ring. With an unhinged smile, he watched the unfolding chaos, displaying a disturbing glee. Moreover, Alastor's sadism knows no bounds. He not only orchestrates wanton chaos, but subjects conquered Overlords and those he particularly despises to a fate more agonizing than double death itself. This torment takes shape in the dreaded realm he affectionately names "The Show", an infernal pocket dimension designed to perpetuate their physical and psychological torture in unimaginable ways, allowing Alastor the opportunity to broadcast their anguished screams, thereby instilling terror in the hearts of the populace.

Alastor's penchant for drama renders him a significant wellspring of discord. Deliberately fanning the flames of contention, he possesses a proclivity for stoking conflicts and enabling the vices of sinners; one instance lies in his enticement of Husk to remain at the hotel for a bottle of cheap booze. This propensity extends even to the confines of the Hazbin Hotel, where the Radio Demon routinely fractures longstanding or burgeoning friendships. He recklessly exposes the hotel's occupants to peril, driven by his appetite for entertainment. Remarkably, this behavior endures even when the hotel's occupants find themselves imperiled through no fault of Alastor's. In most instances, Alastor is a passive spectator, neglecting to extend aid as he derives entertainment from commentating over the struggles of the crew for his radio show.

Alastor has a notoriously sadistic sense of humor, finding death and destruction, in general, to be hilariously funny, especially if he is the one who causes it. He is a sadomasochist who is turned on by both his own pain and others' pain, which allows him to keep smiling even when he is being hurt. Alastor is never short of dark jokes about very morbid subjects, such as death, dismemberment, the Great Depression, and the suffering of children.

He is a complete troll who gains extreme enjoyment from vexing others and loves making other people's lives more difficult, whether it be antagonizing and teasing Vaggie, throwing bits of bread onto a random bystander so that a flock of demonic birds would attack them, to inconveniencing Husk and forcing him to participate in his schemes. He also thinks the sound of babies dying is "exquisite". The Radio Demon's immeasurable cruelty and the horror of his atrocities are to the extent that he is believed to only be a myth by a large number of Hell's denizens. Lux, who can sense the good and evil dwelling in all entities, has outright called him the most evil soul in all of Hell.

Alastor is very nonchalant and has a habit of saying whatever is on his mind and laughing at anything, even if it is absolutely horrible. He derives amusement from occurrences such as the Stock Market Crash of 1929, gleaning a macabre joy from the tragedy and the subsequent deaths of many orphans. His humor extends even to moments of despair, such as when he laughed and cracked a joke at Angel Dust's expense while the latter mourned the loss of Fat Nuggets at the hands of the Vees. His candidness is equally pronounced when it comes to his feelings. He is very open about the fact that he hates almost everybody in the hotel and openly harbors intentions of exploiting their mental illnesses struggles for entertainment. Empathy is conspicuously absent from his interactions with the residents, as evidenced by his callousness towards their suffering. This is reflected in his casual remarks about Fergus' past, and his uproarious laughter in response to the physical and sexual abuse inflicted by Valentino upon Angel Dust.

Alastor, as a proficient killer, displayed meticulousness and evasiveness, evading capture throughout his life. His actions were void of any moral qualms, both prior to, during, and subsequent to the act of murder. His approach to his victims was characterized by methodical precision, coupled with a penchant for psychological manipulation. He likened the act of killing humans as no different than hunting animals, deriving a twisted form of sport from these endeavors and treating them as exhilarating hunting sessions. In scenarios where his victims managed to escape his grasp despite sustaining grievous injuries, Alastor did not hastily pursue them. Rather, he deemed chasing his prey as beneath his stature. Instead, he methodically followed the trail of blood they left in their wake, biding his time until their strength waned due to blood loss. Only then would he strike the fatal blow, all while taunting and mocking his victims. Interestingly, if a victim managed to escape unscathed, Alastor was known to offer a twisted form of admiration, acknowledging their success in evading him. In such cases, he refrained from further pursuit, deeming the act of chasing them to be beneath his dignity.

Despite carrying himself with a rather chipper and campy demeanor, Alastor is very cynical, and, in a sense, realistic; he sincerely believes that every single sinner is irredeemable and laughs at the possibility that Charlie's plan to redeem sinners will work. He outright refuses to believe that a sinner successfully reforming themselves and ascending to Heaven is possible, disparaging redemption as laughable and nonsense, and firmly stating his belief that a sinner's chance to be good was the life they lived and that they are permanently stuck in Hell as their punishment. The only reason why he wants to help the princess run the Hazbin Hotel is because it sounded like a fun idea for a show and because he believes that every sinner who tries to better themselves will fail miserably, and that it will be fun for him to watch and revel in their despair.

He is very set in his ways, being reactionary and a Luddite, possessing a profound hatred for post-30s technology and music, which is one of the primary catalysts that led to his rivalry with the revolutionary TV Demon, Vox. He absolutely despises the current state of Earth and how technology dominates modern society. The Radio Demon's detestation of post-30s technology is to the extent that he refuses to allow his image to be taken on smartphones or even watch television, although he was seen watching Charlie's announcement of the Happy Hotel on several TVs after her announcement piqued his interest.

In spite of the massive amount of demonic power he possesses, Alastor tends to get bored rather easily, has low self-control, and lacks "inspiration" for his crimes, by his own admission. Unlike most Overlords, he has no desire for power and does not bother getting engaged in the business dealings that Overlords are typically involved with. Rather, he seeks and values entertainment, which he primarily gains out of causing mass destruction and stirring conflicts, which explains his highly chaotic nature. To achieve his ends, he puts on the act of a charming, charismatic, southern gentleman. Deviating from the unruly, crass, and ill-mannered sinners of Hell, Alastor can come off as a surprisingly affable, friendly, and even goofy demon, behaving affably to those he believes deserve his kindness, in addition to always smiling, and he never stops smiling, as he believes it to be a sign of power and dominance, which was taught to him by his beloved mother. He has a penchant for cracking cheesy or dark jokes to lighten the mood and even occasionally tries to cheer his allies up whenever he sees them cry or frown. He can intentionally go from goofy and fun-loving one moment to threatening and menacing the next simply to scare people, thus making others very uneasy in his presence even when is being playful and silly. He has just as many moments of being a lovable goofball as he does being a force of chaos and eldritch horror.

In stark contrast to most of the main cast, Alastor generally abstains from swearing; the only times Alastor ever swears is usually after an encounter with his most hated enemy, Vox. His behavior and mannerisms are traces of his past as a 30s radio announcer; he speaks in a fast-paced, warbly, overly energetic, and upbeat manner, refers to modern television as a "picture show", uses archaic words and terminology, and tends to speak dramatically and with a lot of gravitas.

In the realm of deal-making, Alastor is a masterful manipulator, his expertise honed through duping scores of hundreds, if not thousands, of sinners and demons. His proficiency in deception merely serves as a conduit to augment his physical might and influence. Possessing an innate charisma that attacks and draws people to him, he navigates the art of manipulation with finesse, frequently steering his endeavors toward personal advancement via crafty deals. His charismatic aura is potent enough to foster friendships and alliances, transforming even those who initially feared him, like Charlie, into eventual allies. In the course of his dealings, Alastor has a preference for targeting individuals of violent disposition or those aspiring to Overlord status, as he did with Husk. He employs a blend of his compelling charm and supernatural abilities to sway potential clients into embracing his terms. His tactics often revolve around enticing them to indulge their darkest impulses and inclinations, all while bestowing upon them the means and power to do so.

As a true deal-maker, Alastor is adept at withholding crucial information until his clients are thoroughly ensnared within his web of agreement. Only once they are irrevocably committed does he reveal the full scope of their fate. Ultimately, the sole recourse to repay the Radio Demon's boon involves undergoing a transformation into a shadow, doll, or demonic entity, binding them to his service for an indefinite duration.

Regardless, Alastor's charisma and dapper charm do nothing to hide the fact that he is a widely feared tyrant responsible for the pain and misery of thousands of sinners, to speak nothing of the potentially hundreds of people he murdered when he was still living. Most of Hell's denizens are absolutely and rightly terrified of the Radio Demon due to his reputation and past crimes and want as little to do with him as possible, and his past crimes have left a psychological mark on Pentagram City; his introductory scene shows a gang of violent bikers staring fearfully at a dark corner after merely hearing a radio signal, fearing that Alastor was lurking in the darkness. Even Charlie, the Princess of Hell itself and daughter of Lucifer Magne, was initially afraid of Alastor when she first met him personally, despite being far more powerful than him. The mere sound of the Radio Demon humming, or the sight of him casually strolling through the streets of Hell is enough to send every sinner in the vicinity cowering or outright fleeing in terror. Although Alastor does somewhat enjoy the fact that he is feared by many, the fear he inspires has made it increasingly more difficult for him to make deals or gain new allies, thus this fear has put a great deal of strain on the influence he has over the Pride Ring. Indeed, as friendly as he may seem, Alastor is typically very open about his malevolent intentions, not even trying to hide the fact that he only supports the Hazbin Hotel to see the despair of sinners when they fail to be redeemed.

In no small part due to his death, Alastor hates dogs or anything resembling them. He goes into a fury when he sees canines, despises Hellhounds, calls them "mutts" and "rodents" and he jokingly implied that he loves torturing stray dogs to death in his pastime.

The Radio Demon has an inflated, even romanticized view of himself and is egotistical and even narcissistic to a degree, not seeing many sinners or demons quite up to his level, and he clearly cares a great deal about his image, carrying himself with a constant sense of superiority and believing himself to have far more "class and style" than most of Hell's boorish denizens, who he disdainfully regards as "simpletons". Alastor is also something of an attention seeker; he enjoys being the center of attention and his radio tower at the hotel has several large, neon arrows pointing towards it. In life, one of his reasons for eating human flesh was that, after he became a demon, he viewed himself as so above humans that he viewed them as little more than food and sustenance.

However, his egotism does not make him arrogant or complacent, nor does it prevent him from acknowledging the strengths of other entities. Despite being extremely powerful by the standards of normal sinners, Alastor almost never underestimates his opponents and is well aware that there are various entities that rival or outclass him in terms of power. For this reason, he is wary of such entities and avoids starting conflicts with them unless it is absolutely necessary, as they could potentially injure him, or worse if he is not careful. Additionally, Alastor is self-aware and confident even around others who dislike him, as he is not bothered by Sera's dislike of him, and even finds amusement in it.

Alastor is, in a way, rather hypocritical; while he hates being touched by others, he has no qualms about invading the personal space of others by wrapping his arms around them, transforming their clothes to fit his songs' aesthetics, or when he slapped Vaggie's buttocks simply to provoke her. He is also something of a neat freak, as he has his shadow and doll minions tidy up the Hazbin Hotel habitually, and always wears gloves so as not to soil himself while making contact with sinners and demons. At the same time, he does not mind being covered in blood, although he'll still calmly clean himself afterward. He greatly values manners in others and will get personally offended by disrespect and rudeness, as shown by his disgusted smile while watching Simon messily eat his food. He is also not particularly big on oral hygiene, as Vox mocked him for having bad breath on Voxtalk and made references to his black gums. Although he rarely swears and keeps up the appearance of a stylish and classy gentleman, he is not as high and mighty as he likes others to think; an encounter with Vox was enough to send Alastor cursing in a very immature and petulant manner while no one was around.

Although he is widely regarded as an irredeemable monster (and even proudly considers himself one), Alastor does possess a moral compass and a set of principles, which is considered to be "strange"; He finds any instance of the strong preying on the weak, to be extremely distasteful, and will go out of his way to kill and/or devour the perpetrators. This was his reasoning for devouring a butcher when the latter attempted to carve up a defenseless sheep demon. While Alastor enjoys the suffering of sinners because of their sinful nature, the helpless being harmed through no fault of their own is something he will apparently object to. Due to past experiences, Alastor possesses a profound hatred for racism and delights in persecuting bigots and those alike. Additionally, Alastor claims that, while he does enjoy killing dogs, he would never kill a dog owned by someone and would only slaughters strays.

Additionally, while Alastor is not a fan of children, he avoids killing them. However, this is not necessarily for any moral reasons, but moreso since kids are usually incapable of defending themselves and thus wouldn't provide him with enough of a "challenge", since Alastor enjoys some fight in his victims. Additionally, Alastor is more than willing to discipline bratty and misbehaving children by striking them, torturing them into obedience, or scarring them for life, as he is a believer of corporal punishment. He is also not above laughing at the misery and pain of children, as seen by his comments about the orphans that perished during the Stock Market Crash of 1929, and his sly joke about the torture Manco endured at the hands of Satan.

Even while merely going about his day, Alastor is very courteous to Hell's more humble inhabitants as long as they don't inconvenience or annoy him. He behaves civilly towards the employees of a café he frequents (despite them being utterly terrified of him), including tossing a coin into the hat of a streetside saxophone player. He likes to observe Hell's denizens and will often join in with things like live bands and street performing. The Radio Demon also enjoys visiting Cannibal Colony and frequents its cafes and diners, behaving very socially to the residents and enjoying the food. When Husk was recovering after being mutilated by Vox, Alastor not only paid his friend a visit but gifted him with a bottle of booze that magically refilled itself when empty.

He is also surprisingly chivalrous, politely greeting and opening a door for a female sheep demon, and he also refuses to kill innocent women. However, he is only polite to women he perceives as being weak, hence why he is very insensitive towards Vaggie while being more friendly towards Charlie. Some of his best friends, such as Rosie and Mimzy, are also women.

Alastor is surprisingly capable of affection and forming bonds with others, as he loves his deceased mother dearly, and his undying love for her is his entire motivation for seeking a way to invade Heaven in order to reunite with her forever or simply to have a chance of seeing her again. He is close with his companions, Niffty, Husk, Rosie, and Mimzy, becoming genuinely enraged after Vox tortured Husk by cutting his wings off, with the Radio Demon even stating, himself, that it was the angriest he had ever been in all his years in Hell. He seems to especially gravitate towards people he finds amusing and entertaining. He even attempts to be friendly (in his own way) to some of the Hazbin Hotel's staff and patients, often telling lame dad jokes to "entertain" them.

Additionally, although Alastor dismisses the idea that redemption is possible as "wacky nonsense", he genuinely wants to help Charlie run the Hazbin Hotel and tries to ensure that the operation can be as successful as it can be by brainstorming ways to attract new patients, using his reality warping powers to completely revitalize the Hazbin Hotel's exterior design to make it look more appealing and less run-down, defending the business and all of its inhabitants from external threats, and continually keeping the hotel tidy, even if his motive for doing so is less sincere.

Alastor has hinted at a desire for revenge against Heaven as well as a determination to hold onto his current position of influence. When Serenity, Sera, and Leo Lightheart came to the Hazbin Hotel, Alastor was confrontational and dismissive towards them, and during a conversation with Sera, he spoke cryptically about reclaiming something that Heaven has been kept from him, suggesting a deeper motivation for being at the hotel beyond mere amusement.

Appearance

"He looks like a strawberry pimp!"
Angel Dust on Alastor.

Default Form

Alastor is a slim, 6' 7" demon with beige-colored skin, and a mouth full of sharp, yellow teeth that illuminate in the dark. He sports a short, red-angled bob cut with black tipping on the bottom and two large black-tipped tufts of hair extending from the top of his head that resemble deer ears, an undercut, and two small black antlers on the top of his head, which grows in size in his fully demonic form. He has blood-red sclerae, bright red irises, and black pupils, and he wears a blood-red, oval-shaped monocle over his right eye. He also has a red X on his forehead that only appears when he uses his powers. Occasionally, whenever he uses his powers, distorted voodoo symbols appear around him, and his body emits a faint red glow. His bare body, especially his legs, is covered in matted brown fur, and he has deer hooves rather than human feet.

Alastor's primary attire consists of a dark red, pinstriped coat, which is slightly ragged along towards the bottom, a bright red undershirt with a black cross on the chest underneath, and long burgundy dress pants with matching bright red cuffs. He is also dressed in a red-knotted bowtie, burgundy gloves, and black, pointed-toe tap-dancing boots with red deer hoofprints emblazoned on the soles. He is almost always seen carrying around a thin cane with a sentient, vintage-style microphone attached to it, which he uses to play sound effects and broadcast his voice.

True Form

While in his fully demonic form, Alastor grows slightly taller in size, being around 8 feet tall, with his hands and fingers especially growing in size and spawning long, red claws, and the antlers on his head growing much longer and more spindly, loosely resembling tree branches. His eyes also become entirely red (or black in some cases), and his pupils take the shape of black radio dials. In this form, he also has what appears to be black blood pouring from the sides of his mouth.

Powers and Abilities

Natural Powers

  • Demonic Transformation: Alastor lacks a singular form, and can take on various forms. He has the ability to turn into a stronger, more demonic form at will, and then effortlessly transform back to his default form. He demonstrated this when he used his fully demonic form to terrify a butcher before devouring him, and later severely wounding Charlie while under the influence of Satan. Along with his Full Demon Form, Alastor can take on many different types of forms and various creatures, including his human form and animals, with one of his favorite forms being a demonic deer.
  • Immortality: Alastor has already experienced death and thus cannot be killed again in a traditional sense, effectively making him undead. As a demon, he is eternally youthful and seemingly impossible to erase without divine intervention.
    • Nigh-Invulnerability: Alastor's demonic physiology makes him extremely durable, resilient, and immune to nearly all forms of attacks; it has been shown that sinners lower than Alastor can brush off being crushed, shot, beaten, and melted as if it was nothing. Due to his immense power, it is virtually impossible for an average sinner to harm him, and he can take harsh punishments and attacks from other Overlords much stronger than him, such as Vox, without immediately succumbing to the pain or damage. Alastor can only be killed again if his soul is erased, as his physical body is simply a manifestation of his soul, and he can heal from any physical damage inflicted upon him that was not the result of angelic weaponry or divine power.
    • Regeneration: Although Alastor has yet to display his regenerative capabilities, even normal sinners have the ability to regenerate lost limbs, and can respawn in their normal forms even in the event that their physical bodies are completely destroyed, as implied by the survival of the demon who was crushed by a large rock.

Unique Powers

  • Eldritch Power: Described as "all-powerful", Alastor can cast many different forms of malevolent magic, ranging from voodoo (primarily Rada and Petro voodoo magic), curses, and dark energy, thanks to the immense power level he accrued upon manifesting in Hell. Alastor likely possesses far more powers than those he has demonstrated on-screen, as he likes to remain unpredictable. Upon arriving at Hell, he easily defeated nearly all of Hell's previous Overlords in a single night's time, rising to become one of the most feared entities in the Inferno's history. He was shown to be capable of laying waste to cities using his magic, having used his demonic powers in the past to throw Pentagram City into chaos. Despite only being an Overlord by technicality, he is far more powerful than many Overlords such as Rosie, Velvette, and Valentino, and as a result, he is considered to be one of the most powerful demons of Hell's history, with even Lucifer himself being impressed by Alastor's dark magical capabilities. Vaggie has outright called him the single most dangerous "sinner" in Hell, while Lux (who can sense the evil within others) believes him to be the most evil soul in all of Pride. He is believed, by sinners, to be capable of tearing apart the very fabric of the Pride Ring if doing so would entertain him. At the absolute peak of his power, he could give Stolas an intense fight and possibly emerge victorious.
    • Acoustokinesis: Alastor is capable of layering his voice with a radio effect, switching through many different volumes and pitches, occasionally distorting or deepening his voice to intimidate others. He can also project different types of sound effects from the radio on his cane, such as laugh tracks, booing, or the sound of his victims' screams, and can manipulate his cane to say various things and converse with it.
    • Animation: Alastor can bring inanimate objects to life. During the hotel crew's game night, he brought their game of "Dungeons and Demons" come to life, giving life to the fictional demons trapped within the board game's cards.
    • Atmokinesis: Alastor possesses some control over the weather in his immediate area. While terrorizing Yuck's underlings, Alastor used his demonic magic to conjure a lightning storm, manipulating the lightning to strike the slave driver's crops to set them aflame.
    • Aura: Alastor is occasionally depicted with an aura of perception-altering demonic glyphs and voodoo symbols when using his powers or when planning something. He can protect himself by surrounding his body with tangible voodoo symbols that can absorb many different attacks.
    • Body Control: Alastor can completely dematerialize his entire body, which he generally does to avoid physical contact with others, and then rematerialize once his obstacle was avoided. He can also manipulate the bodies of other entities; at one point, he was able to literally remove the mouth of one of Vox's boisterous henchmen while confronting the TV Demon.
    • Chlorokinesis: While selecting roses at a shop, Alastor caused a rose to wilt and die just by touching and staring at it. Later, after Death killed Charlie's garden during his extended visit to the Hazbin Hotel, Alastor brought her plants back to life after he noticed she became quite dismayed.
    • Clairvoyance: Alastor is capable of knowing the locations of all of his associates and allies, as he was able to perceive Husk when he was at the Jackpot Hotel miles away from where the Radio Demon was.
    • Clothing Manipulation: Alastor, with hand gestures, completely altered the outfits of the hotel crew, including his own, during his musical number "Inside of Every Demon Is a Lost Cause" in order for their outfits to fit the song's aesthetic. When said the musical number was cut short by Sir Pentious, Alastor and the hotel crew's outfits returned to normal. Before singing Heaven 2 Hell with Charlie, he spawned a new outfit for himself along with a black top hat.
    • Creation: Alastor is capable of limited creation magic. He can casually conjure various objects such as newspapers, several paintings of himself, an entire stage for himself and Charlie to perform on, and spawned a bottle of booze by merely waving his hand. While coming up with changes to the Happy Hotel with Charlie, he conjured a small radio tower for himself to settle and broadcast in, which he spawned on the side of the top of the Hazbin Hotel.
      • Weapon Manifestation: Alastor can produce various types of weaponry for himself or others to utilize, as shown when he spawned a vast array of weaponry such as knives, swords, and firearms for the hotel crew to use against the Vees and their armies.
    • Curse Inducement: Alastor is capable of placing a delayed curse on any entity that strikes a deal with him. Once his clients have fallen into his game and sunken themselves to the point where it would be almost impossible to pay him back, he is capable of transforming them into demonic creatures, forcing them to serve him until their debts are paid.
    • Doll Manipulation: Alastor can summon an army of small, mischievous, doll-like demons who he can seemingly control to do his exact bidding. It is unknown if Alastor created these creatures or if they are merely natural-born demons of Hell whom Alastor can control. They could also potentially be victims of Alastor's cursed deals who are forced into serving him.
    • Electrokinesis: Alastor is capable of summoning lightning bolts of magical properties, as seen when he spawned a lightning bolt that changed the Hazbin Hotel's sign from "Happy" to "Hazbin". Later, while terrorizing Yuck's underlings, he spawned a lightning bolt that set the slave driver's crops ablaze, with the flames generated from the lightning being unaffected by rainfall from a storm he conjured. Alastor can also cause electronics to flicker through his anger, as seen when he discovered that Vox had tortured Husk.
    • Enhanced Strength: During his battle with Stellar, Alastor used his claws and sheer strength to tear the Music Overlord's jaws and tongue from his mouth.
    • Ergokinesis: Using demonic magic, Alastor can project red and black energy blasts, streams, waves, and bolts of concentrated magic, allowing him to hit, destroy, or blow away his targets, potentially exerting enough force to destroy other entities or structures altogether.
    • Fear Inducement: As a result of his horrific reputation, immense power, and past crimes, Alastor inspires an extreme amount of fear in others, and his mere presence seems to instinctively strike intense horror into nearly everyone within the Radio Demon's vicinity. Even the most homicidal of maniacs, crime lords, other Overlords, and those who eclipse the Radio Demon in terms of power, such as Charlie, is put into a state of crippling fear while in his presence.
    • Fragokinesis: Alastor can cause objects to overcharge with energy and explode merely by staring at them, as seen when he destroyed several vehicles that surrounded Vox in an attempt to injure the TV Demon, although the TV Demon easily blocked the attack by conjuring an electrical force-field.
    • Hallucikinesis: Alastor, typically when making deals, can conjure magical images and screens that can make others see and hear things that are not actually there, in order to demonstrate to his clients what they would supposedly gain from bargaining with him.
    • Immunity to Madness Inducement: After already gone insane from shaking hands with a malevolent force, Alastor can casually enter and look into his mind-breaking pocket dimension, "The Show", without suffering a mental breakdown like most upon seeing the ungodly realm.
    • Limb Extension: Alastor can stretch his limbs, such as his arms and neck, into unnatural contortions and lengths, whether it be for grabbing the hotel crew into a group hug, or to avoid someone who is trying to touch him.
    • Madness Inducement: Alastor can seemingly create demonic dimensions that are capable of altering the sanity of other entities, this includes demons and sinners, just by the mere sight of them. One peek at Alastor's pocket dimension "The Show" caused one sinner to suffer a psychotic breakdown in which they attempted to violently take their own afterlives.
    • Mind Control: Alastor can control the minds and actions of other entities simultaneously, typically doing so by projecting a wave of red magic that allows him to instantly possess whoever it strikes. Once under his control, his victims undergo a transformation, causing them to twitch supernaturally, gain red eyes with radio dials for pupils, the Radio Demon's sharp teeth, and allow him to speak through his victims.
    • Non-Physical Interaction: Alastor is capable of interacting with objects that would typically be intangible to other entities, as shown when he grabbed and held a piece of Vox's magic, or the many times he interacted with his shadow minions.
    • Perception Manipulation: Alastor can alter the way others perceive him. This was shown after he entered the Happy Hotel, when he corrupted Vaggie's perception just by smiling, which caused her to see him in a more threatening visage with reality distorting around him.
    • Photokinesis: Alastor is capable of manipulating light to a limited degree. He can make his cane glow a faint red color and can project a bright yellow light from the eyeball on his cane, allowing him to essentially use it as a flashlight. He can also create a green light whenever he offers someone a handshake to seal a deal. Additionally, he can make his eyes and teeth glow red on a whim, allowing him to see in complete darkness.
    • Pocket Dimension Creation/Manipulation: Alastor has unlimited control over "The Show", a constantly shifting, chaotic pocket dimension which he has complete control over and presumably created. Alastor used The Show as a way to torture and imprison the Overlords he defeated when he first arrived in Hell, as well as a way to punish his more despised victims in Hell. In The Show, Alastor's victims are forced to live in an endless cycle of humiliation, torture, and being killed once again. Due to their demonic physiology, Alastor's victims will merely regenerate after their "deaths", only to simply be put in yet another cycle of torture and death which is worse than the previous one, a process which they will go through forever, or at least until Alastor decides to release them, which has rarely if ever, occurred.
    • Portal Creation: Alastor can transport himself and others to any given location in the Pride Ring easily via the use of fiery portals. The Radio Demon can also utilize these portals to summon swarms of giant demonic tentacles which he can manipulate and can generate portals that lead to his pocket dimension, The Show.
    • Power Granting: Alastor can potentially bestow immense power upon anyone who strikes a deal with him, turning everyday sinners into fearsome and destructive pseudo-Overlords. However, this comes at the cost of the Radio Demon essentially owning their afterlives.
    • Pyrokinesis: As another one of his signature abilities, Alastor can summon powerful, magical fire at will to attack his enemies, cause massive damage to anything in his vicinity, or simply as a means to display his power. Alastor's flames are especially powerful and capable of burning entire buildings across Pentagram City to the ground and severely damaging even entities that are immune to flames, such as demons and sinners, a testament to the power and magical properties of Alastor's flames. He also lit a fireplace with a snap of his fingers and used a torrent of fire generated from his hands to heat up a bowl of gumbo.
    • Reality Warping: During his musical number, Alastor altered the clothing of the Happy Hotel's staff, changed the interior of the hotel into that of a funky ballroom to fit the aesthetic of the song he was singing, and turned the hotel's interior back to normal once the song was interpreted. Earlier, when coercing Husk into working at the Happy Hotel, he spawned a bottle of booze by simply waving his hand. Later, Alastor completely revitalized the exterior design of the Happy Hotel simply by tapping his cane on the ground, in addition to changing the building's sign from "Happy" to "Hazbin" with a bolt of lightning. Later, when Charlie morphed the interior of the Hazbin Hotel into something of a funhouse while brainstorming ideas with the Radio Demon, Alastor reversed the princess' reality warping by turning the hotel back to its original form that he had chosen upon his arrival.
    • Shapeshifting: Alastor lacks a single form, and can take on many different types of forms and various creatures, including his human form and animals, with one of his favorite forms being a demonic deer.
    • Shockwave Generation: Whenever Alastor offers his targets a deal, a burst of green light appears that is capable of slightly pushing back those nearby, as seen when he offered Charlie a deal at the Happy Hotel which pushed back her, Vaggie, and Angel Dust.
    • Soul Manipulation: Alastor can take control and manipulate the souls of others through deal-making. Once Alastor strikes a deal with someone, he gains full control over their very existence and being, which allows him to summon and command them whenever he pleases, or even erase them or torture their souls for any disobedience.
    • Summoning: Alastor is skilled in conjuration magic, which allows the Radio Demon to summon seemingly anything he desires, whether they be items, spirits, other entities, or elements. Among many things, he is capable of summoning up to thousands of sentient shadow demons, diminutive doll-like creatures, and smaller, unidentified demons to do his exact bidding, such as assisting him in cleaning the hotel and fending off external threats, to aiding him in his acts of terror and mayhem. With a snap of a finger, Alastor can summon gigantic, demonic tentacles that he often uses offensively to attack his enemies or cause massive amounts of destruction to his vicinity. These tentacles can grow large enough to wrap around entire skyscrapers, if not larger, and effortlessly impale demons with their sharpened tips. Furthermore, he can summon his cane at will, like how he summoned Husk from a casino across Pentagram City to the Happy Hotel and manifested Niffty from a fireplace.
    • Technology Manipulation: Alastor can affect cameras and smartphones in a way that it never allows his face to be photographed properly, as either the entire footage is distorted, or simply just his visage is covered by glitches and distortions.
    • Telekinesis: At one point, Alastor used telekinesis to manipulate multiple booms, buckets, mops, and feather dusters in order to use them to clean the Hazbin Hotel, without having to physically do it himself.
    • Teleportation: Alastor can instantly teleport anywhere he desires across the Pride Ring. While teleporting, he either dissolves into darkness and reappears from the same element, fades into or appears from the shadows, or disappears and reappears through portals.
    • Transmutation: Alastor can transform victims of his deals into supernatural creatures of his design, such as poppets, shrunken heads, or demonic deer.
    • Umbrakinesis: One of Alastor's signature and preferred abilities is manipulating darkness and shadows, including his own sentient shadow. Among many other things, he is capable of darkening a room to the point where he is the only thing visible to others, summoning a swirling tornado of darkness that spewed out his demonic henchmen from the top, and when he was under the influence of Satan, Alastor was also shown to be capable of spawning a dark, oil-like substance that he used to trap nearly every member of the Happy Hotel crew in order to suffocate them.
      • Shadow Generation: Alastor can summon a group of shadow creatures to assist him in his various activities, as well as disperse said shadows on a whim.
    • Voodoo Magic: Using it in combination with his demonic powers, Alastor is proficient in many forms of voodoo, mainly Petro Voodoo (dark voodoo magic), though he is also proficient in Rada Voodoo (healing magic).
      • Blood Magic: Using voodoo magic, Alastor can inflict a large amount of pain on his victims by harming himself, typically in a way that draws blood. The more blood he draws from himself, the more damage is inflicted on his targets. When Alastor defended the Happy Hotel from Sir Pentious, he could be seen clenching his fist until droplets of blood dripped from his fingers, which allowed him to finally crush Sir Pentious' giant airship, with Pentious and the Egg Boiz still inside. Later, when he was possessed by Satan, Alastor used his blood magic to inflict pain on Charlie by cutting his own face with his claws, which resulted in Charlie's wounds she had sustained moments earlier being telekinetically ripped open.
      • Force-Field Generation: Alastor can manifest highly durable barriers of various sizes in order to shield himself, others, or even objects and large constructs from offensive attacks. His shields are capable of growing large enough to envelop the entire Happy Hotel crew, or even the Hazbin Hotel itself, which he used to protect the hotel during the Vees' assault. Notably, his shields are layered with voodoo symbols, suggesting that they are generated using voodoo magic.
      • Healing: Alastor can use Rada magic to heal others from injuries or sickness.
      • Pain Inducement: Alastor can utilize voodoo magic to cause tremendous pain to one or multiple victims. This was demonstrated in a flashback, showing Alastor using this curse on a group of demons, causing them to writhe in pain on the floor while surrounded by a red aura and voodoo symbols.
      • Protection Spell: Alastor can use protection spells via voodoo symbols on the walls of the Hazbin Hotel that neutralized the weapons of Vox, Velvette, and Valentino's underlings, and revitalize Alastor's own magic, even after he had been overwhelmed by Vox's onslaught.
      • Poppet Creation: Alastor is capable of creating poppets in the likeness of other entities which he can utilize in whatever way he pleases, typically gifting them to his allies and friends as a means of good fortune.

Abilities

  • Authority: As an Overlord and diplomat of Hell, Alastor has away over the souls of most sinners, and as an ambassador he has the power to communicate with Heaven as well as go on diplomatic missions.
  • Broadcasting: Even before he died, Alastor excelled at broadcasting what he wanted the public to hear over the radio. Later, when he was reborn in Hell, Alastor used his broadcasting abilities to force the public to witness his atrocities firsthand, earning him the title of "The Radio Demon". After joining the Hazbin Hotel, Alastor continued his broadcasts using a radio tower he had conjured on the side of the hotel.
  • Charisma: Alastor is incredibly charismatic, having used his powers and charm to sway hundreds, if not thousands of sinners into making deals with him, befriending him, and tricking others into believing false notions. He is charming enough to win over people who were previously untrusting and terrified of him, such as Charlie Magne, who now sees the Radio Demon as her friend and partner despite initially avoiding him at all costs.
  • Culinary Skills: Having been taught how to do so at a young age by his loving mother, Alastor can create amazing meals, and the dishes he has crafted have been surprisingly enjoyed by a majority of the main cast, with his specialty being jambalaya and gumbo. Some of his dialogue implies that he is also very skilled at cooking the remains of humans and sinners.
  • Deal-Making: As a deal-maker, Alastor can perform deals, even between souls, in order to increase his already immense power. Using deals, he is capable of essentially owning his clients' souls and placing curses upon them. Alastor can forcibly control the actions of his clients and can transform them into demonic creatures and force them to serve him to pay off their debt. Alastor can also render soul contracts null and void through deal-making, as shown when he freed Angel Dust of Valentino's soul contract after winning a bet placed by himself, Vox, and Valentino himself.
  • Flexibility: Alastor can position, twist, and bend his body into many inhuman positions without injuring his joints. This includes being able to turn his head 180°.
  • Hand-to-Hand Combatant: Although he rarely fights without using his powers, as he sees it as informal, Alastor is a surprisingly capable hand-to-hand combatant. Experienced from his years as a serial killer, Alastor is able to easily wrestle with fully-grown adults, and typically beats them down by breaking their bones and injuring their eyes. He also demonstrated fierce fist-fighting prowess to the point he could take on multiple individuals at once and even render his victims unconscious with a few well-placed hits, as seen during his battle with the Happy Hotel crew in Limbo while being possessed by Satan.
  • High Intelligence: Alastor is exceptionally cunning, deceitful, and manipulative. He was able to manipulate the entire populace of New Orleans, deceiving everyone into believing that he was a comedic radio host who would never hurt a fly. Retaining a state of unpredictability by feigning weakness and neglecting to use his powers, he frequently plays into his target's weaknesses, as seen when he antagonized Sir Pentious and sent the snake demon into a blind rage. He was also smart enough to tear Stellar's jaws and tongue from his mouth to severely cripple the Music Overlord's singing ability, and seconds earlier exploited Stellar's arrogance by feigning injury to lure him into getting closer. He maintains a charming and pleasant exterior in order to mask his truly malicious and tyrannical nature, opening up those around him to a false sense of security, all for his entertainment and to advance his cryptic goals. Either through sheer power, intelligence, or a combination of the two, he overthrew centuries-old Overlords and rose to great infamy throughout the seven rings of Hell all in one night, a testament to his ability. In addition, Alastor almost never underestimates his opponents, and always thinks ahead and strategizes before proceeding to execute his plans.
  • Hunting Skills: During his life, Alastor was a skilled deer hunter, enough to decorate his home with antlers and a deer rug. As such, he is highly skilled at hunting and tracking. He even employed his skills as a hunter while murdering people, often gravely wounding his targets, allowing them to escape, and calmly following their blood trail to finally kill his victims.
  • Intimidation: Due to his terrifying presence, Alastor is capable of effortlessly frightening even the most depraved of entities, sometimes unintentionally, into obeying his commands. Even while strolling the streets, Alastor's presence was enough to send every demon in the street packing and running when they hear his radio sound effects. When Fergus was about to turn down Charlie's offer to stay at the Hazbin Hotel, Alastor easily frightened Fergus into staying at the hotel by threatening to brutally murder him if he turned down Charlie's offer. Even Charlie (despite being far, far more powerful than the Radio Demon) was visibly frightened upon meeting him face-to-face.
  • Marksmanship: Although he no longer uses firearms due to gaining demonic powers, Alastor was an avid and successful deer hunter in his life, with his favorite weapon being a scoped hunting rifle which he used for his deadly efficiency.
  • Multilingualism: Alastor can speak English fluently as well as broken Creole French. Throughout his time in Hell, he has also learned to speak in some demonic tongues, which he mostly learned from his friend Rosie, albeit he is not completely well-versed in them.
  • Musical Talents: Alastor has displayed strong vocal abilities and excels at many forms of dancing (tap, ballet, ballroom), as shown throughout his musical numbers. He also displays a flair for theatrical showmanship which he demonstrates in his broadcasts, and can several different instruments with moderate skill, such as piano, tambourine, violin, trumpet, and saxophone.
  • Natural Weaponry: Alastor can use his horns, claws, and teeth as offensive weapons. This was shown after he used his teeth and claws to mutilate and devour a butcher who attempted to murder a defenseless sheep demon. His teeth are sharp enough to allow him to dismember other sinners by biting their limbs off. He also used his claws effectively during his battle with Stellar in order to tear the Music Overlord's jaws and tongue from his mouth, and later when he was possessed by Satan, violently attacked Charlie using his elongated claws, which gave her a gaping wound across her side.
  • Ocular Illumination: Alastor's eyes glow a bright red color whenever he is in dark environments, allowing him to see in total darkness.
  • Stealth Mastery: Alastor is a master of sneaking up on his victims or associates, sometimes even standing right beside them with them completely unaware of his presence until he makes himself known. He often appears behind or even beside the Hazbin Hotel's staff and patients when they least expect it, which startles them every time. He was able to sneak into Yuck's home and stood in the darkness of a corner, with Yuck, Charlie, and Vaggie all unaware that he was in the room with them until he sent his doll minions to mutilate Yuck.
  • Weapon Mastery: Alastor can use different types of weapons, such as his cane and knives, effectively in close combat.

Weapons

  • Butcher Knives: During his life, Alastor's primary weapon for murdering people was an assortment of butcher knives.
  • Mic: Alastor is never seen without a thin, sentient cane that holds the soul of Mike, his broadcasting mate in life. The cane has a microphone attached to it that he can use to project many different sound effects such as a crowd screaming, laughing, or jeering, and can make his cane say anything he wants. The microphone atop his cane can also be used to amplify the volume of his voice. The cane's microphone also possesses an eyeball that Alastor can use to project a bright yellow light, allowing him to use it as essentially a flashlight. Although he mostly uses his cane to amplify his voice and play sound effects, he has occasionally used it as a weapon, mostly to violently strike his opponents, or impale them with the pointed tip.
  • Hunting Rifle: During his life, Alastor utilized a scoped hunting rifle as his favorite weapon while hunting. The rifle was decorated with deer teeth, and his name had been engraved on the barrel.

Weaknesses

  • Distrust: For the most part, Alastor refuses to ally himself with other Overlords, preferring to work alone. This flaw is the very reason why the allied Overlords, the Vees, were able to overthrow the Radio Demon in terms of status and power.
  • Divine Intervention: Although Alastor is virtually indestructible as a result of his demonic physiology, he can be truly erased by an angel's weapons or divine power, which can result in his soul ceasing to exist.

Relationships

Family

Ms. Hartfelt

Alastor's profound affection for his mother shines brightly even in the afterlife, encapsulating a profound mother-son bond. He is a total momma's boy who would do anything for her as she did everything for him. In his entire existence, she likely stood as the sole genuine emotional tether he held. Alastor loves reciting his mother's advice to the hotel crew, reminding him of the only principles he lives by.

From his earliest days, Alastor absorbed a wealth of knowledge and skills directly from his mother; Practical skills ranging from cooking to mathematics, as well as dancing, were all acquired through her guidance. She served as his educator during his formative years, opting to homeschool him as a means of shielding him from the harsh and prejudiced period they inhabited.

Throughout their lives, he remained steadfast in supporting her, a commitment that continued even after her passing.

Her death left an indelible mark on Alastor. He stood by her side as she died, smiling through tears. Of course, his mother being a saint, Alastor knew he was on the road to Hell when he started murdering people. Upon his descent into Hell, he harbored a secret and malicious ambition: to ascend to Heaven through any means possible, even if it meant by force and tearing Heaven and its denizens apart to get to her. This aspiration was born from an ardent yearning to reunite with his mother or, at the very least, to glimpse her presence once more.

Allies

Charlie Magne

"Both: We may not agree on everything as far as we can tell
But we both want this new venture to do well
Alastor: So, with her passion
Charlie: And his power
Both: And this rinky-dink hotel
We might just bring some Heaven to Hell!
"
— Alastor and Charlie during their duet, Heaven 2 Hell.

Alastor took an interest in Charlie after witnessing her disastrous interview on the 666 News regarding her operation, the Happy Hotel. Shortly afterward, the Radio Demon dropped by the Happy Hotel, where he attempted to greet the Princess of Hell when she answered the door, only for her to fearfully and rudely slam the door in the Radio Demon's face, having been aware of his grisly reputation. Once Charlie decided to let him in, Alastor proposed to the princess that he would help support and run the Happy Hotel. However, Alastor was very transparent that helping Charlie was mostly - if not entirely - out of "sheer, absolute boredom", as he had grown bored of his escapades the past decades. He assured Charlie that he believes the hotel's premise and ideals are "wacky nonsense", and announced his belief that sinners are inherently beyond redemption, but that he will gain great entertainment out of watching sinners repeatedly struggling and failing to redeem themselves, and falling deeper into despair and depression for it.

Although Charlie was well aware that Alastor was not an honest sponsor and couldn't be fully trusted, Alastor's changes made to the hotel, combined with his methods of reeling in more patients to the hotel and ordainment of being an ambassador of Hell with a direct line to Heaven, convinced her to enlist the Radio Demon's help.

Alastor, with his charismatic and dominating personality, seems to take charge in his dynamic with Charlie, often interrupting or overshadowing Charlie. He likes to exude a sense of control and power, perhaps reflecting a desire for control over the princess. On the other hand, Charlie's compassionate and empathetic nature bounces off with Alastor's more sinister nature, expressing concern for the well-being of others and advocating for rehabilitation rather than punishment. While they may not always see eye to eye, they share a common goal: the success of the Hazbin Hotel venture, albeit with totally different endgames. Despite their differences, they recognize each other's strengths and the potential of their partnership to make a positive impact, even in the chaotic realm of Hell.

As business partners, Alastor and Charlie frequently brainstorm ideas to attract new patients, although this often leads to the two clashing and being at odds with how the Hazbin Hotel should be running, as Alastor's mischievous (and often sinister) ideas clash with Charlie's noble intentions. Alastor wants the hotel to be a place of pain, misery, and punishment, while Charlie wants the hotel to be a place of happiness and redemption. Alastor and Charlie also frequently argue over what the hotel's name should be, with Alastor insisting it is called the 'Hazbin Hotel'. While interacting, Alastor mostly treats Charlie like a child and finds her belief in redemption to be hilarious.

Regardless, he enjoys Charlie's company more than anyone at the Hazbin Hotel besides Husk, Mimzy, and Niffty, and thinks that she is funny, and likes talking with her because she makes him laugh. He personally likes Charlie's smile and positive, determined attitude, and during "Inside of Every Demon is a Lost Cause", he affectionately refers to Charlie as 'one of a kind' and a 'charming demon belle', all while ridiculing her dreams as a joke. Although Alastor seems to view Charlie as childlike, he does appear to respect her position as the Princess of Hell as well as her immense power and typically follows her orders when given. He tries to be polite and somewhat nice to Charlie because he sees her as weak and inferior.

Alastor often acts as the devil on Charlie's shoulder, pushing or convincing her into making cutthroat and morally dubious choices and decisions seemingly in the name of reforming sinners.

Despite seeing her operation as a joke, Alastor actively assists Charlie and the hotel crew with their endeavors, with the Radio Demon and the Princess of Hell developing a complex friendship over time, although it is clear that the Radio Demon is only helping her to manipulate her and see the hotel's patients break down when they fail to redeem themselves, there does seem to be a degree of legitimacy to their friendship. Alastor often goes out of his way to cheer Charlie up whenever she becomes upset, as he hates to see her frown, and at one point offered to make her tea when he walked in on her crying to herself, and offered to teach whoever made her cry a lesson. When Alastor noticed that Charlie became upset when Fergus implied that he would not be accepting her invitation to join the hotel's redemption program, he pulled Fergus aside and essentially threatened to murder him if he turned down Charlie's offer, which caused Fergus to rethink his choice and join Charlie's operation, which brought the princess great joy. Charlie and Alastor also bond over their love for music by collaborating on and performing songs.

Regardless of Alastor's rather degrading opinion of her, Charlie is shown to care deeply about Alastor, despite his flaws, and seems to be the only person who believes that he can be redeemed. Alastor tends to be very ungrateful towards Charlie, as although she has risked her life to save him on multiple occasions, the Radio Demon still shows a level of deceitfulness towards her and doesn't seem to take her faith in him seriously. Despite all of this, when offered the chance to betray the princess and gain ultimate power by Satan, the Radio Demon ultimately chose to stay with Charlie and the hotel crew, as he knew Satan wouldn't be honest with its deal, and he personally wanted to see the hotel through to the end.

Husk is one of Alastor's many slaves. However, unlike many of the Radio Demon's slaves, Husk is one of the few people in Hell that Alastor considers a true friend, having grown weirdly attached to him. Alastor himself often likens Husk to a stay cat he adopted off the streets and got attached to. Still, Alastor enjoys tormenting and bugging Husk, often putting him through the wringer, preying on and enabling his addictions, and dragging him into chaotic situations. While Niffty is with Alastor to laugh with him, Husk is solely there to be laughed at by Alastor.

Husk is one of the many sinners who made a deal with Alastor in the past, in a feverish attempt to satisfy his gambling addiction. Alastor played along, granting Husk influence and power, but like all who made a deal with the Radio Demon, Husk was forced to serve Alastor after he fell to his own greed and had sunk himself into Alastor's game.

Husk and Alastor have worked with each other in the past numerous times, as shown through Alastor's backstory and Husk's dialogue. Alastor used Husk as a mole through the years, using him to gain information on the Overlords he planned to conquer. He would send Husk in, have him rat out information about the Overlords and associates, before using all the info Husk gave him to overthrow the targeted Overlords and kill their underlings. Notably, some of these underlings Husk had befriended in his mission, only increasing his animosity towards Alastor, though the Radio Demon only reacted sadistically to Husk's anguish.

In their interactions, Husk tends to react with animosity to Alastor, as seen when he lashed out at Alastor upon realizing that the Radio Demon summoned him to assist in managing the Happy Hotel, indicating that Husk doesn't like getting pulled into Alastor's schemes. Despite Husk's frequent rudeness towards the Radio Demon and the fact that he is essentially Alastor's slave, Husk is one of the very few sinners that Alastor genuinely cares about, and he treats Husk as a genuine friend rather than a slave, often leaving Husk alone to do his own business until he requires his assistance and giving him a lot of freedom. Alastor has a habit of stopping by Husk's bar to chat and have a drink with him, even if he has more interesting things to attend to.

Alastor is only willing to allow Husk to insult him because he sees himself as far above Husk, and that attacking him over petty insults would be below an archdemon of his caliber.

Alastor's endearment of Husk was perhaps best shown when he reacted with extreme anger and was intensely agitated when Vox kidnapped, tortured, and mutilated Husk in order to draw the Radio Demon out to a personal confrontation. While Husk was recovering from having his wings torn off by Vox, Alastor paid his injured friend a visit and gifted him with a bottle of booze that magically refilled itself, much to Husk's pleasant surprise.

Niffty

"(while watching Niffty rip the wings off of flies) She is indeed quite the exotic creature, isn't she?! Like the daughter I never knew I yearned for! But, do well to stay on her good side. Don't forget that such an entertaining and seemingly innocent soul can always hide a much darker secret..."
— Alastor about Niffty.

Alastor and Niffty have been acquainted with each other for almost as long as she has been in Hell. Alastor views Niffty as his "stupid" adoptive daughter, and is quite prideful of her. He is tolerant of Niffty's air-headedness and tendency to climb all over him, since he finds her endearing, entertaining, and charming. Alastor is also respectful and confident of Niffty's abilities, even immediately jumping to her defense when Charlie expressed doubt about her upon her arrival.

Alastor and Niffty first met after the Radio Demon happened upon her mutilating a pedophilic sinner who attempted to take advantage of her. Impressed by her bloodlust and viciousness, Alastor joined in and help her get rid of the sinner, imprisoning him in The Show. Following this incident, Niffty fell in love with Alastor, and he enlisted her as his assistant.

Alastor finds Niffty adorable, but also finds her stupid, albeit in a way that endears him. Much like Husk, Niffty is one of the few entities that the Radio Demon genuinely regards as a friend. She is frequently shown to admire and fawn over him and his abilities, as she is frequently seen smiling at him while he uses his powers. Furthermore, Niffty is shown to generally enjoy the Radio Demon's company, insisted to Fergus that Alastor wasn't that bad to those he is acquainted with and does not fear him the same way many sinners do, as shown by her closely following Alastor around the hotel.

Mimzy

Mimzy is one of Alastor's few genuine friends he has acquired in life and still maintained in Hell, with them bonding with each other due to their love of singing and musical theater, and Alastor enjoying Mimzy as someone to remind himself of the timeframe that they existed in. The two have a rather wholesome friendship, despite Mimzy being an overall unreliable and horrible friend.

In life, Alastor and Mimzy first met at a gala where the famous star defended Alastor from a racist nobleman while drunk. Alastor, grateful, helped her to her room to avoid embarrassment after Mimzy had drunkenly spilled wine on her dress. There, they bonded over Alastor's passion for theater, sharing a spontaneous song and dance after Mimzy beckoned Alastor to strut his stuff. Mimzy later used her connections to secure Alastor a job as a vaudeville performer, maintaining their friendship.

Because of what Mimzy had done for him in life, Alastor is willing to perform acts of kindness for Mimzy which he would never do for just anyone, and he is very patient with her antics. He sees something in Mimzy that not everyone at the hotel does, thus he is able to completely ignore her somewhat vexatious tendencies. In a rare act of generosity from the Radio Demon, Alastor often slaughters the loan sharks and criminals who want Mimzy dead for her reckless escapades. Though he would never admit it, seeing how far Mimzy has fallen saddens Alastor, to a certain degree.

Alastor seems very much aware of Mimzy's crush on him and indulges her by holding hands. Because of this, they are notable friends, close enough that Vox threatened to harm Mimzy as well as Rosie in order to torment the Radio Demon. Alastor at one point mentioned that he enjoys attending various theater events with her, using his intimidation to give them both the best seats.

Razzle and Dazzle

Alastor shares a friendship with Razzle and Dazzle. The goat dragons often help the Radio Demon prepare meals for the hotel crew. Alastor appreciates their goofiness, and cheerful attitudes, and compliments their constant smiles.

Alastor's friends

Alastor commands a legion of supernatural creatures, unofficially known as "Alastor's friends", who follow his every command and accompany him almost everywhere, usually hidden in his shadow. These creatures were once demons and sinners who made a deal with Alastor so that he could enable their sinful behavior. After their deals were made, Alastor gave them remarkable power which they would often use to cause destruction, gamble, or exact revenge on those who wronged them, unknowingly giving Alastor what he wants and sinking themselves into his game to where they are forced to serve him until their debts are paid.

Despite their names, Alastor holds a degree of contempt towards his minions for their sinfulness, implying that he specifically cursed them as vengeance for their wrongdoings; he simply calls them his "friends" as he does not want to offend them. Though, despite them effectively being his slaves and him somewhat loathing them, Alastor gives his minions a surprising amount of free will and is never shown mistreating them, preferring to instead make contemptuous comments at their expense. Deviating from most Overlords who have a doctrine for abusing their henchmen, he allows them to run rampant all throughout the Pride Ring, at least until he requires their assistance.

Rosie

Alastor and Rosie exhibit a strong, delightful bond of camaraderie, sharing a common identity as fellow Overlords and enthusiasts of traditional values, while harboring disdain for modern societal conventions like technology and television. They readily support one another, with Alastor esteeming Rosie, alongside Niffty and Husk, as his exclusive circle of intimate friends.

Upon his descent into Hell, Rosie assumed something of a mentor role towards Alastor, guiding him through the intricacies of speaking in various demonic tongues and introducing him to the pleasures of consuming the flesh of sinners. Alastor, having previously only tasted human flesh, deeply appreciated her tutelage.

Alastor frequents the Cannibal Colony to engage in discussions with Rosie about the happenings within Hell and "cannibal stuff." Given Rosie's involvement in countless endeavors, she ensures Alastor remains informed about events spanning the seven rings, particularly considering his tendency to vanish for extended periods.

Lucifer Magne

Lucifer is Alastor's king. Alastor and Lucifer share an unconventional friendship, united by their eccentricities and penchant for theatrical flair. Their friendship thrives on a mutual admiration stemming from their shared narcissism and theatrical inclinations. Their dynamic resembles that of a pantomime, old-timey, vaudevillian performer duet, often engaging in playful duets during their infrequent encounters. They mutually respect each other, with Alastor respecting Lucifer's superior power as the King of Hell, while Lucifer admires Alastor's musical taste and captivating charisma.

Alastor gets quite a few perks out of being Lucifer's bestie; besides being a diplomat of Hell, he is also an honored guest of The Circus, allowing him to travel to the royal kingdom without getting instantly nommed by Cerberus.

Lucifer's fondness for Alastor is partly rooted in the latter's bold overthrow of the Pride Ring's Overlords upon his arrival in Hell. This action impressed Lucifer, who saw it as a cleansing of the old order, paving the way for more ambitious and powerful figures like the Vees to emerge. This restructuring allowed Lucifer to reorganize his domain and resolve previous territorial disputes.

Interestingly, Alastor is conspicuously absent from Lucifer's annual Halloween gatherings, raising questions about his exclusion. It remains uncertain whether he is deliberately not invited, potentially due to his rivalry with Vox, or if he chooses to decline Lucifer's invitations.

Death

"Death: (he stares at Alastor intently, who grins at him) Hmm.... I like you! What do you say we meet up sometime and fuck some people over?
Alastor: I just might have to take you up on that, good sir!
"
— Death greeting Alastor.

During Death's visit to the Hazbin Hotel, Alastor was the only inhabitant of the hotel who the Grim Reaper respected and got along with, due to their mutual enjoyment of tormenting others for personal amusement. Upon arriving at the Hazbin Hotel, Death confronted Alastor and stared the Radio Demon down. When Alastor continued smiling at him, displaying no hint of fear towards the Grim Reaper, Death admitted to taking a liking to Alastor and recommended that they should get together and cause havoc in the future, to which the Radio Demon replied that he would consider it.

Enemies

Vox

"Hmph. Show off. All hat and no cattle... Obnoxious, pompous, piece of shit television..."
— Alastor after an encounter with Vox.

Vox is Alastor's most personally hated enemy and rival, as the two do not get along in the slightest due to their different views and preferences when it comes to technology. Alastor views Vox with a combination of contempt and annoyance. He refers to Vox's behavior as "cultish" and loathes his habit of spreading "silly, mindless gossip", accusing him of being incapable of civil discussion due to his childish ego. Alastor also appears to be frustrated by Vox's henchmen pestering him and his associates, indicating that Vox's actions have been a source of irritation for him.

On the other hand, Vox does not seem to take Alastor all that seriously, and takes pleasure in antagonizing him and his friends. He mocks Alastor's presence and refers to him as an old man, suggesting a dismissive attitude towards the Radio Demon. Vox also seems to revel in the power dynamics between them, asserting his dominance and superiority over Alastor. He taunts Alastor about his lack of popularity compared to himself and openly threatens him with consequences if he interferes further.

It is also demonstrated that Vox is the only entity in all of Hell (this includes even Angel Dust) who is capable of making Alastor swear, as when he hijacked a TV station to make his face appear on a TV that Alastor was watching in an attempt to intimidate the Radio Demon, Alastor while brushing Vox off as having "all hat and no cattle", proceeded to go on a quiet swearing tirade about Vox shortly after leaving, showcasing his hatred for the former.

Alastor has once implied that he has been saving a special place in The Show for Vox, and loves cracking jokes at Vox's expense during his broadcasts.

Despite Alastor's hatred of Vox, the two Overlords are capable of holding small and, sometimes, even comical conversations with each other without so much as an outburst, often making snide remarks and jokes at the other's expense, like preschoolers arguing. However, these conversations are practically oozing with hatred on Alastor's part, as the Radio Demon views Vox with nothing but barely concealed contempt, becoming frustrated at his almost cultish opinion on modern technology, and angered at Vox's omnipresent advertisements across Pentagram City, as well as Vox himself going out of his way to arouse the Radio Demon's ire by mocking him on his TV shows and displaying embarrassing videos, photos, and drawings of him on Pentagram City's billboards. Vox's minions also show no respect for Alastor and go as far as to taunt him on the streets of Pentagram City with no provocation from the Radio Demon, which only increases Alastor's hatred of Vox.

Valentino

Alastor despises Valentino and is very open about his disdain for the moth demon, referring to Valentino as a "pest" and a "bug", and he is repulsed by Valentino's predatory nature, as well as disliking him for his association with Vox. In their first interaction, after Alastor confronted Vox on his underlings' behavior, Valentino attempted to flirt with Alastor, to which the Radio Demon replied by threatening to dismember Valentino if he continued his advances. Valentino is shown to enjoy making fun of Alastor along with Vox, calling Alastor's cane a "dildo". Although Alastor hates Valentino, he is still fully aware that the moth is a dangerous threat with a lot of connections, and as a result, he avoids fighting the moth demon directly, unless it involves defending the Hazbin Hotel or its staff.

Loona

When I.M.P clashed with the entire hotel crew at Hell-antis, Alastor and Loona came face-to-face. Alastor was immediately set off by Loona's dog-like appearance, demonically ordering her to get away with him, angrily calling her a "mangy, flea-ridden mutt". Loona, who had previously insisted she was not afraid of Alastor, responded by fearlessly telling the Radio Demon to make her, before fulfilling her deal with Vortex by calling him "Radio Bitch". In response, Alastor summoned his minions from the ground to attack her and a flurry of summoned demonic tentacles, which actually deeply unsettled Loona and made her realize why the Radio Demon was so feared.

Baxter

"Alastor: It appears our cultish clientele are calling for a sacrifice. I nominate Baxter!
Baxter: Vat iz your fucking PROBLEM with me, you cervine, noisome luddite?! (Alastor laughs demonically, dissolving into blackness)
"
— Alstor and Baxter.

Alastor holds an intense disdain for Baxter, and the root cause remains a mystery. Alastor consistently engages in belittling, taunting, passive-aggressive commenting, and mocking Baxter without offering any explanation for his strong aversion. When Baxter attempts to confront Alastor about this animosity, the latter just responds with laughter and vanishes through teleportation to stay away from Baxter as much as possible. The true source of Alastor's loathing remains enigmatic, whether it stems from Baxter's insufferable arrogance or a more profound, undisclosed reason.

Others

Vaggie

"I see why you've taken such a liking to her! She's got more smoke than a burning oil well! The rage and bitterness and trauma practically leaking out of her! Oh, and I love the way her hair stands on end when her can is snapped! Looks quite fetching."
— Alastor to Charlie about Vaggie.

Despite essentially being co-workers, Vaggie and Alastor's relationship is characterized by skepticism and hostility. She refuses to trust Alastor, and for good reason, as she is well aware of Alastor's reputation as a treacherous deal-maker, as well as his habit of causing total chaos and conflict inside and outside the hotel. Upon Charlie first warning her that the "Radio Demon" was at the door, Vaggie insisted that Charlie shouldn't let him in. After Charlie let Alastor in any way, Vaggie was determined not to let him hurt anyone with affiliations to the Hotel and threatened him at spear-point, insulting the Radio Demon by referring to him as a "pompous, cheesy, talk-show shitlord". Alastor responded by gently swatting the spear from his face and assured Vaggie that he would have killed everyone at the hotel the moment he entered if he truly wanted to.

Vaggie is both disrespectful and distrustful of Alastor's intentions and exacerbated as Alastor continuously infuriates her with patronizing remarks and gestures for his personal amusement. Alastor loves going out of his way to annoy, mock, or anger Vaggie because he thinks her reactions are hilarious, as seen by his constant shoving her around, invading her personal space, separating her from Charlie, playing pranks on her, and when he slapped her on the ass during a musical number. He greatly enjoys making her miserable in general by making her job as hotel manager more difficult, and constantly attempts to separate her from Charlie so he can get closer to the princess.

When Alastor was possessed by Satan, Vaggie did not hesitate at all to try to kill the Radio Demon with her angelic spear, and nearly did so when he came close to murdering Charlie on the orders of Satan, fatally wounding the Radio Demon by hurling her spear into his chest.

Angel Dust

"Alastor: And what can you do, my effeminate fellow?
Angel Dust: I can suck yer dick!
Alastor: HA! No.
"
— Alastor and Angel Dust's infamous exchange.

Despite being (or perhaps because they are) polar opposites in terms of personality and demeanor, Alastor and Angel Dust are an entertaining duo to watch, with them sharing numerous comedic interactions with each other. Due to his lack of interest in politics, Angel was unaware of who Alastor was after the Radio Demon entered the Happy Hotel, having to get information on his identity and history from Vaggie. In their first interaction with each other, Angel offered to give Alastor fellatio after the Radio Demon inquired what Angel's talents were, which managed to break Alastor's composure for a split-second before he responded by chortling and swiftly turning the porn star down.

Alastor is usually portrayed as being very annoyed by Angel's presence and finds him vulgar and irritating. He dislikes Angel's presumptuous attitude, antics within the hotel (such as pranking its staff and other patients), and constant sexual remarks directed at the Radio Demon, as well as his lack of supervision over his messy pet pig, Fat Nuggets, and relishes the moments where Angel is not present at the Hazbin Hotel. Alastor is a frequent victim of Angel's pranks, which he often responded to by threatening to eat Angel's pet pig, Fat Nuggets if Angel continued to vex him. Angel Dust displays a protective and affectionate attitude towards Fat Nuggets, and Alastor seems to enjoy provoking Angel Dust and engaging in playful banter with him, even going as far as proposing a wager involving Fat Nuggets, questioning and testing the beloved pig's loyalty.

Despite hating Angel Dust, Alastor always manages to restrain himself from severely harming Angel (if only to avoid getting in trouble with Charlie) and usually retaliates in harmless ways, such as sending his doll minions to pour liquids (such as juice or even blood) on Angel's fur to ruin his appearance.

Their interactions can sometimes have moments of negativity, such as when Alastor laughed at Angel when the spider confessed that he genuinely wanted to better himself, as Alastor does not believe that any sinner, much less Angel, can be redeemed, which caused the spider to become visibly upset. Despite their relationship seeming rather vexatious at first glance, Alastor still defended Angel from Valentino and his associates when they attempted to take Angel back. Though the Radio Demon was adamant that he only did so to defend the hotel itself rather than Angel, Angel was still gratified by it and teased the Radio Demon, referring to Alastor as his "dark knight in crimson armor".

Despite his clear disdain for Angel, Alastor would later go on to free Angel from Valentino's control by winning a bet against the moth Overlord and Vox. However, Alastor only did this to prove to Sera that he was capable of doing "good", as well as some way to validate Charlie's claims that even the worst demons were capable of doing good deeds.

Sir Pentious

"Sir Pentious: Well, well, well. Look who it is harboring the striped freak! We meet yet again, Alastor!
Alastor: Do I know you?
"
— Sir Pentious and Alastor during the former's attack on the Happy Hotel.

Alastor and Sir Pentious apparently knew each other before the events of the series and were mortal enemies, at least from Sir Pentious' perspective. It is implied that the two have fought each other in the past, as Sir Pentious longed to defeat Alastor in order to gain recognition from Vox, with all of their interactions resulting in Alastor effortlessly defeating Sir Pentious. When Sir Pentious attacked the Happy Hotel, Alastor in general barely seems aware of Sir Pentious' existence, as he answered "Do I know you?" after Sir Pentious threatened the Radio Demon, and also not seeming to remember Sir Pentious during a conversation with Angel Dust, despite having encountered him hours ago (although both of this instances could have been Alastor being facetious, given his sense of humor).

They both permanently ceased their enemyship, mostly due to Pentious joining the hotel crew. Alastor wasn't above exploiting Pentious' desperation of having a romantic partner by manipulating the snake into summoning a love demon, informing him of this purely to find entertainment in upcoming events that he was aware that would be happening.

Sock and Buskin

During his takeover of Pentagram City, Alastor targeted the duo of Overlords, Sock and Buskin, attempting to overthrow them as he did previous Overlords. However, the duo of Overlords fought off and defeated Alastor, becoming the first Overlords to do so. Their defeat of Alastor was a momentous event in Hell's history, being the first time Alastor had shown any vulnerability.

In the present, Alastor has a tense relationship with the Theater Overlords, though they are capable of cooperating together. They both view Alastor with a mix of mockery and grudging respect, acknowledging his infamous reputation as a tormentor and irredeemable sinner. Sock, the more flamboyant and taunting of the two, delights in teasing Alastor, particularly by commenting on his past failures against them. Buskin, though more composed, echoes this condescension with a dry wit. Alastor, in turn, matches their theatrics with his own confidence and sharp wit, demonstrating irritation at their jabs but refusing to back down. It's an open secret that Alastor desires a rematch with the two, though he's patiently waiting for the right time to challenge them...

Crymini

Alastor and Crymini don't interact much, but it is fairly clear that they both dislike each other. Alastor is antagonistic and condescending towards Crymini, likely due to her uncouth attitude or even her dog-like appearance. Crymini openly dislikes and distrusts Alastor; she hates his constant smiling - since she sees Hell as an unhappy place, refers to him derisively as a "cannibal, Overlord, dog-killer," and growls or snarls at his behavior. Alastor, in turn, mocks her openly, condescendingly petting her while implying the only reason he hasn't killed her is because she isn't a "stray" (as if she's an animal owned by Charlie or possibly Husk). Alastor knows how to under her skin and provoke her anger.

During Octavia and Crymini's night out, Alastor upheld his promise to Charlie not to harm them but, out of boredom, used his magic to stir conflict between the two. However, they eventually saw through his scheme, embarrassed him in public, and blackmailed him into leaving their friendships alone. In the end, Crymini had Alastor clear out a theater and fetch snacks for her and Via while they enjoyed movies together for the rest of the night.

Octavia

Alastor met Octavia formally when Charlie tasked him with chaperoning her and Crymini on one of their nights out. Alastor maintains an air of unnerving charm around the Goetic heiress, addressing her by status (despite Octavia disliking that) as with exaggerated civility, which only heightens her unease. He acts almost forcefully friendly, compliments (not thanks) her for knowing of his Overlord status, and is also casually dismissive of boundaries, forcing a handshake on Via and locking his arms around her, leaving her cringing and disconcerted. Octavia openly says that she feels unsafe in his presence, cringing at his exaggerated politeness.

During Octavia and Crymini's night out, Alastor honored his promise to Charlie not to harm them directly and even scared off a few creeps. However, he grew bored with Crymini and Octavia bonding over shared interests like clothing and music. Using his magic, he tried to create discord between them, stirring up squabbles to drive a wedge between the two. Despite his efforts, Crymini and Octavia eventually saw through his scheme. They turned the tables on the Radio Demon by embarrassing him in front of a large crowd, before pulling him away and threatening to tell Charlie about his meddling, effectively blackmailing him into leaving their friendships—and others'—untouched. Ultimately, Crymini took advantage of the situation by having Alastor scare an entire theater at the Jealousea Mall. As payback, they made him fetch popcorn and beverages while they enjoyed movies together for the rest of the night.

Sera

"Alastor: Alastor! (Alastor twirls his cane, offering a handshake to Sera) Pleasure to meet you. Quite a pleasure!
Sera: (Sera stares at him grudgingly) Radio Demon.
Alastor: (Alastor laughs, lowering his hand) Ah, I see you prefer to call me by the moniker adopted by those who aren't quite fond of me. I had a sneaking suspicion you didn't like me. Then again, you don't particularly like anyone, don't you? (His smile widens as Sera scowls at him) But, credit where it's due, you seem to have a mind for yourself, at least. It's a welcome change to have someone from the opposing side who isn't completely brainwashed by all that religious garbage. Ha-ha-ha-ha! You are quite the interesting creature...
"
— Alastor to Sera.

Alastor admires Sera's convictions and moral clarity, even as he enjoys teasing her skepticism about his morality. Alastor, despite embracing his irredeemable nature with pride, finds himself bothered by Sera's moral judgment that he is completely incapable of doing good. He values his unpredictability and dislikes when others try to box him into a particular perception. To prove her wrong, he orchestrated a risky scheme involving her sister, Serenity, to free Angel Dust from Valentino's enslavement. Despite Sera's extreme anger and threats, Alastor remained unfazed, believing the ends justify the means and mockingly telling Sera that she, of all people, would agree with him, referencing her involvement with the Extermination. While his actions may seem morally ambiguous, he sees them as necessary to demonstrate his potential for good. However, Sera remains unconvinced, viewing Alastor's willingness to endanger her sister as evidence of his true nature, overshadowing any apparent acts of benevolence.

Following this incident, it is suggested that Alastor deliberately endangered Serenity as a response to Sera's skepticism toward him out of spite. He casually admits to Charlie that he could have chosen one of his numerous demon minions to face Vark instead.

Chapter 1

"Welcome one and all to the Hazbin Hotel! We hope you enjoy your stay..."
— Alastor.
"Vox: Well, well, well! If it isn't the Princess of Hell's latest simp! We were just-
Alastor: Spreading silly, mindless gossip about myself?
Vox: ...You've got a lot of nerve showing your face around here.
Alastor: And you have a lot of nerve being alive.
Vox Henchman: You better have a good reason to come here, Radio Boy! You're on our turf now - (Alastor magically removes the mouth of the henchman, causing them to fall to the ground, screaming muffledly and clawing at their face as Vox's other henchmen watch in horror)
Alastor: (to Vox) Let's try to have a civil discussion, shall we? Or are you incapable of running your mouth in such an imprudent manner?
Vox: (laughs) Okay, Al. I know you're obsessed with me, but you really should have scheduled this, rather than interrupting my post-Extermination rave party. (chuckles) But, how can I deny my number one fan some attention? (laughs) So, what's so important for you to crash the party? And let's get this over with, quickly. I have a show at five.
Alastor: Your underlings have been pestering me incessantly, and my good friend, Husker, has been in quite the tizzy lately. He claims that he spotted one of your goons vandalizing the side of his casino. (one of Vox's henchmen slowly hides a spray can behind his back, looking terrified) Not that a query is needed, we all know the answer, but you wouldn't happen to have a hand or say in this, did you?
Vox: (laughs) Oh, Al. I didn't need to say anything. Unlike you, people love me, and, well, let's face it, you're my competition. I can't help it if my fans show their love for me. Are you just upset that everyone stans me and not you? (chuckles) Maybe if you didn't scare everyone who so much as looks in your direction, you'd have half the reputation I do. Tell me... How does it feel to be feared? (chuckles demonically)
Alastor: This has nothing to do with reputation. It's about your brainwashed delinquents badgering me and my dear companions when we've done nothing to deserve such treatment. (he turns his back to Vox)
Vox: (he places electric fields around the base's exits) Aw, leaving so soon? This conversation was just getting good...
Alastor: There's only so much swellheaded, misplaced arrogance one's senses can take! (he opens a red portal in front of him)
Vox: Whatever you say, granny. (cackles) You're lucky I'm in a good mood. I'm gonna let you off with a warning. But if you show your face in here again, your radio frequency is gonna hit dead air real fuckin' fast.
Alastor: And if we ever cross paths again, or you continue to send your underlings to pester me and my associates again... I will prove all of the doubters wrong that you can die twice. (he slowly exits through the portal)
Vox: To be continued... (he chuckles evilly as his henchmen stare on with looks of fear)
"
— Alastor confronting Vox and his henchmen at one of the TV Demon's bases.
"This little darling is Niffty! Steer clear of her, because she's determined to keep this ramshackle hotel as neat as possible! And yes, she bites."
— Alastor introducing Niffty.
"The stage has been set! Big changes are on the way! (Alastor begins changing the interior design of the Happy Hotel, revitalizing it; he looks at himself in a mirror) Hmm.... (he snaps his fingers, changing his outfit very slightly) You can't change perfection!"
— Alastor while modifying the Hazbin Hotel and himself.
"Vaggie: (looking at Alastor's radio tower atop the hotel) Your own tower? Seriously?
Alastor: Of course, my dear! How else do you expect me to perform my broadcasts?
"
— Alastor and Vaggie after Alastor remodeled the Hazbin Hotel.
"Charlie: Not so fast! (she changes the hotel's sign from "Hazbin Hotel" to "Happy Hotel"
Alastor: Oh, no, no! I insist! (he changes the hotel's sign from "Happy Hotel" to "Hazbin Hotel")
Charlie: Al... You know we can't go on with that name. It's degrading to our patients.
Alastor: Very well, then. (he slowly starts reverting his changes made to the hotel) I suppose if you don't desire my assistance, I'll just be on my way...
Charlie: Wait! (sighs) Fine.
Alastor: Splendid! (he reinstates his changes made) Dear... (he motions to the hotel's sign) Will you do the honors? (Charlie sighs and changes the sign from "Happy Hotel" to "Hazbin Hotel" as Alastor smiles in victory)
"
— Alastor and Charlie arguing over the hotel's name.
"Angel Dust: Thanks fer fixin' that hole Pentious blew in the front doors. I can't have my creepy stalkers peepin' at the goods. It costs extra!
Alastor: ...Who?
Angel Dust: Oh, y'know, my stalkers. Buncha creepy, ugly freaks who want summa-
Alastor: No, no, no, I understood that part quite well. What I am referring to is the identity of who blew a hole in the hotel? I'd love to meet them myself! What a spectacle!
Angel Dust: (with an awestruck expression) ...Pentious. (Alastor smiles cluelessly) Sir Pentious? ...The snake in the blimp with the eggs? You just destroyed him- Nevamind. The point is, you betta be 'round next time he comes knockin' again.
Alastor: ...Pentious... Sir Pentious...
Alastor: This person's name confounds me... Tell me, is this 'Sir Pentious' one of my new age, adoring, idiotic 'fangirls'? If so, I guess putting all those arrows around my tower may have not been the wisest idea...
Angel Dust: W- What tha fuck are you talkin' about? (Alastor continues smiling as Angel waves his hand in the Radio Demon's face while he stares unflinchingly) Helloooo? Hell to Alastor?!
Alastor: It's on the tip of my tongue...
Angel Dust: (sighs) Aight, you have fun with that. I'm hittin' the sack. (he walks away)
"
— Alastor and Angel Dust.
"Hello, hello, hello, hopeless sinners of Hell! Gather 'round this wireless contraption, because your one and only Radio Demon host is live straight from Hell's newest, frivolous establishment, the Hazbin Hotel! Ho-ho! You (lunges at his microphone demonically) better not touch that dial (normally) because there's bound to be some BOUNDLESS entertainment coming our way! So, sit back, relax, and let's get this show started! (the sounds of screaming begin to play over the radio) Stay tuned..."
— Alastor addressing Hell's populace in his new radio tower.
"I can't say I'm a fan of it, my dear. I don't particularly see any value in it! Sure, the convenience is nice, but what fun is there in just pushing a button and getting what you want? What happened to hunting it yourself, catching it in your claws and enjoying the fruits of your labor? It's just so... mundane. So BORING! There's no thrill to it, no excitement! And what's life without excitement, hmm?"
— Alastor on why he hates modern technology.
"Charlie: Al? It's not that I don't appreciate your help, I do, and it's not that there's anything wrong with a little presentation, but, maybe it would help if the first face a customer sees isn't as, uh... (Alastor's friends grin fiendishly at Charlie) Um... Unsett- No, creepy? No, I mean- hmm...
Alastor: Naughty?
Charlie: Yeah... Isn't as "naughty" as theirs.
Alastor: Sucker for the mild, hm? Luckily for you, dear, I know just the man for the job!
"
— Charlie and Alastor while selecting a front desk face for the hotel, and before Alastor summons Husk to the hotel.
"Alastor: Ah, Husker, my surly friend! Glad you could make it!
Husk: Oh, don't you "Husker" me, you son of a bitch! I was about to win the whole damn pot!
Alastor: Good to see you, too!
Husk: What the hell do you want with me this time...?
Alastor: My friend, I'm excited to inform you that we are investing in some charity work! (he wraps his arm around Husk and points to Charlie, who waves a smile at Husk) The valiant Princess of Hell is trying her hand at reforming lost souls, and I've taken it upon myself to volunteer your services! I hope that's okay!
Husk: Are you shittin' me?!
Alastor: Hmm... No, I don't think so!
Husk: (shoves Alastor off of him) You thought it'd be some kind of big fucking riot just to pull me out of nowhere and string me along to some halfway house?! You think I'm some kind of fucking clown?!
Alastor: (trying not to laugh) Mmmmaybe!
Husk: I ain't doing no fucking charity job. Pssh, charity... Like I ain't got a fuckin' casino to run...
Alastor: And who, pray tell, was the one who got into the position to own that casino, hm? All I'm saying, Husker, is that I've done more for you than you, quite frankly, deserve, and I figured you would be the perfect face to man the front desk of this fine establishment! Wouldn't it be nice to escape the riff-raff and mingle with your fellow sinners? With your charming smile (he pulls Husks' lips into a forced smile) and welcoming energy, this job was made for you! Don't worry my friend, if you have any reservations, I can make this more welcoming! ...If you wish. (he waves his hand making a bottle labelled "Cheap Booze" appear from out of nowhere.
Husk: (stares at the booze for a second before facing Alastor) What? You think you can buy me with a wink and some cheap booze?! (grabs the booze and looks at it) ...Well, you can! (he downs the booze)
"
— Alastor enlists Husk's help with running the Hazbin Hotel.
"Gooood morning, everybody! It is officially day one of the grand opening of the Hazbin Hotel! The birds are singing, the sky is shining, and I, for one, can't wait to see what ill-conceived exercises in futility we have on the schedule for today!"
— Alastor.
"Ah... Just like mother used to make!"
— Alastor while cooking gumbo for the hotel crew.
"Alastor: (Alastor mystically appears, standing next to Angel as he lays on a couch, Fat Nuggets on his lap) Angel... Your little swine has been nicking from the kitchen... again.
Angel Dust: (He squishes Nuggets' cheeks) My wittle Nuggsy ate food from yer kitchen?! How DARE HE!!! You DISGRACED me, Nuggsy!!! Pfft-HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! (Nuggets is "laughing" with him) Yous must've fuckin' been out of your fuckin' mind to leave the fridge unlocked, buddy. Nuggs could see and smell that fuckin' shit a mile away! Ha! My fuckin' pig's got more fuckin' brains than you!
Alastor: (Alastor shrugs) Oh, well! If I don't have the means to prepare a more conventional meal for our clientele... (He looks at Fat Nuggets sinisterly, who trembles in fear; Alastor reaches his claws out to him) I guess we'll be having BACON tonight...
Angel Dust: (He defensively places Fat Nuggets behind him as he leans up) Ay, he's MY fuckin' pig! If any fuck's goin' to be dealing with 'im, it's me, ya fuckin' got me? (he goes back to laying on the couch, Fat Nuggets laying on his chest)
Alastor: Hmm... (he grins deviously) You seem to care a lot about that rotund pound of flesh... Fancy a stake?
Angel Dust: (he looks up from his smartphone, raising his eyebrow) 'Stake'? Fuck yous tallkin' about?
Alastor: (Alastor twirls his cane) If Porky's as 'smart' as you cap, let him choose between the two of us. If he chooses you, I'll let this grievous transgression slide, for now. If he chooses me... I'll treat you and the others to a nice buffet of pork chops tonight.
Angel Dust: (He looks disturbed) Shit, yous a sick fuck, y'know that? ...Yer on. (He gets up from the couch, standing beside Alastor as Nuggets sits on the couch, darting his head between them; to Fat Nuggets) Come to Mama, Nuggsy!
Alastor: No, no! Come to me, you little son of a-
Angel Dust: Nuggsy! You know I love you! (Angel makes kissing noises at the pig as Nuggets continues darting his head between them)
Alastor: (He holds out a frying pan) Hop on, little one! You know you want to! (he suddenly holds up boxer briefs) And LOOK! Fresh undergarments just WAITING to be torn asunder!!!
Angel Dust: (Motioning to himself) Let Mama hug ya! (Nuggets oinks and runs over to Angel)
Alastor: NO, OUR PORK LOINS!
Angel Dust: That's it! (He scoops Nuggets up, holding him close) I knew ya'd neva leave me! Mama's got ya... (Angel kisses Fat Nuggets on the head, flipping Alastor off with his lower arms)
Alastor: (He raises a finger) One day, I shall have my revenge! (He slams his can on the ground, vanishing into red smoke)
"
— Alastor and Angel's wager of Fat Nuggets' loyalty.
"Charlie: Al, I mean this in the nicest way possible, but are you sure we need Niffty's help? I appreciate her helping us with the bug infestation, but the hotel's residents find her... How do I put this... Creepy as fuck?
Alastor: Are you doubting our little Niffty's talents?!
Charlie: No, not at all! I just-
Alastor: SPLENDID! She loves a good challenge! (to his radio staff) Niffty to the main hall, please!
Niffty: (instantly appears, magically crawling out from behind Charlie and hanging off the princess's shoulder) Nifty and quick!
Alastor: You're aware of that derelict town that has recently became occupied by that dismal gang, the Rippers, no? I'm making it your job to prove yourself to our princess here by cleaning that entire town of its recent vermin problem! HAHAHAhahaha... (Niffty blinks cluelessly) And by that, I mean slaughter all of them.
Niffty: (whips out her knives) Okey dokey! (she bolts out the hotel's doors)
Charlie: WAIT, NO-
"
— Alastor tasks Niffty with massacring the Rippers.
"Charlie: (Alastor is accompanying Charlie in a search around the hotel for Angel Dust) Angel!! Where did he go this time? I knew we shouldn't have left his room...
Alastor: Charlie, listen... Do you hear that? That blissful silence? Every time Angel Dust is not here, the silence is like a thousand babies dying all at once. Exquisite...
Angel Dust: (kicks open the hotel door) I'M BAAAAACK!
Alastor: Oh, never mind, they've been resuscitated.
"
— Alastor's peace is ruined by Angel Dust.
"Fergus: You gonna tell me there's more to me than I think there is, Red? (scoffs) Piss off, pal. I don't want to hear it.
Alastor: (chuckles) Well, not exactly... You see, Charlie is the one who believes the best in everybody. All I care about is staying entertained. Whether that entertainment comes from watching the scum of humanity struggle for redemption or watching them squeal for their lives, doesn't mean one bit to me. (Fergus slowly shifts his eyes to the door) Oh, I suggest not trying to run. I do enjoy a good romp as much as the next fellow, but I'd hate to make a mess in the front hall. Why, the time it would take Niffty to clean the ceilings would be dreadful! So, just do what Angel Dust brought you here to do; stay in the hotel and put as much or as little effort into bettering yourself as you please. If the day comes when the hotel gets a bit more crowded and Charlie won't notice, then by all means, crawl back to whatever drunken stupor Angel Dust pulled you from. But until that happens, you are to stay right here. I do think I've made myself clear, (in a mocking, demonic tone) pal?
"
— Alastor coercing Fergus into staying at the Hazbin Hotel.
"Angel... I know you're going through a time of difficulty. So let me say... I'm glad it's not happening to me!"
— Alastor upon seeing Angel crying over Fat Nuggets being taken.
"Pentagram City; A miserable stain in the dimension of Hell. Home to billions of sinners, wallowing in a pitiful stew as they struggle to comprehend their meaningless existence. They are a contemptuous and cretinous lot, but have made for such wonderful entertainment in the past."
— Alastor's opinion on sinners.
"Why I must say, you all make such adorable sounds! Why don't you make more of them for me?"
— Alastor in a flashback, reveling in the screams of his victims while terrorizing a town.
"Now, now, good sir, aren't there more appropriate ways to use a noose, hm? Tying loose ends, securing lifelines, strangling your enemies- Ho-ho! The possibilities are endless!"
— Alastor while stopping a sinner from hanging themselves.
"I must say, old chum, when I pictured our battle - for some inexplicable FUCKING reason - I assumed you'd have the courage to face me yourself. But, silly fucking me, you've stooped so low as to harm my dear friend. (laughs demonically) What a goddamn, fucking fool I was. However, I will admit, I'm impressed with you at this moment. In all my years in this Inferno, I've never been quite so angry as I am now. (Alastor grins malevolently and darkens the setting around him, surrounding himself with shadow demons and demonic tentacles) I will take great pleasure in breaking you into pieces, you cultish, SHITHEAD TELEVISION."
— Alastor confronting Vox after the TV Demon tortured and mutilated Husk.
"Alastor: Husker, my dear friend! You look swell, given the circumstances. And it seems your wings are coming back in! I just knew you'd pull through!
Husk: YEAH, BUT IT STILL FUCKIN' HURT, ASSHOLE!
Alastor: (chuckles) Apologies for my insensitivity. We've all had quite the eventful night.
Husk: Ladi-fuckin'-da. You got any fucking booze? I'm thirsty as a motherfucker. (Alastor spawns a bottle of booze in Husk's hand, who begins gulping it down)
Alastor: Now, about your insensitivity... Need I remind you that we could have easily left you out there to dry? Vox and his associates are not going to forget about this little skirmish. The tension that has been building between this hotel and those three has only grown ever stronger.
Husk: Figured you'd be into that shit.
Alastor: (grinning) Oh, don't misinterpret this turn of events! There will be some entertainment value from this, no doubt... But also consequences. I would just appreciate a little gratitude. Because next time I might not be so generous...
Husk: (he groans and wipes the booze from his lips) Okay, fine... Thanks fer savin' me. Ya happy now?
Alastor: (he laughs) Indeed! Well, I'll 23 skidoo! We have a tumultuous week ahead of us!
Husk: (looking at his booze) Did... Did this shit just refill itself?
Alastor: Hehehe... Consider it a gift for all your troubles. (he walks away, humming, as Husk stares at him incredulously)
"
— Alastor visiting Husk after Vox tortured him and ripped his wings off.
"Charlie: Alastor, what did you do?!
Alastor: Certainly not Angel Dust!
Angel Dust: The drug or the slut?
Alastor: Yes!
"
— Alastor, Charlie, and Angel Dust.
"It's times like this where I remember some sage advice my mother bestowed upon me; 'Smile! Even as the darkness swallows you whole, use your smile to cast a light!' Ho-ho! She was a wise woman, I'm sure you all would have loved her!"
— Alastor while annihilating the Vees' minions.

Chapter 2

"Charlie: So, Al, you're a cannibal, right?
Alastor: Why, yes I am, dear!
Charlie: Calcifer told me about those... That means you only ate other humans, right?
Alastor: Ha, ha, ha! Of course not! I didn't indulge in the flesh of sinners until I was reborn here. My good friend Rosie didn't want me to miss out on the fun, and boy am I glad she didn't!
Charlie: Okay... So, what do other demons taste like?
Alastor: Hmm... Not as savory as, say, venison, or even Cajun greens, but still satisfactory to ones taste buds! Why have a favorite when you can have everything, as I always say! How about we swing by Cannibal Colony and you judge for yourself?
Charlie: Eh... No, thank you.
Alastor: (his grin deepens) Now that I mention it, I haven't introduced you to Rosie, have I?! Oh, what a doll! (he grabs Charlie by the waist and leads her as she awkwardly goes along) It's a GAS, darling! The atmosphere! Demons gathering 'round and 'round in the blood-drenched kitchen, all sharing tales and exchanging knowledge about their culinary exploits! And not to mention... Hellhound filet mignon. Mmm, juicy...
"
— Alastor takes Charlie to Cannibal Colony..
"Rosie: You all should consider yourselves lucky to drink from the same cup as the Radio Demon! This man's rubbed elbows with Lucifer himself! Not to mention that darling radio broadcast of his!! Though, I DO miss his visits. (to Alastor, who is now right next to them.) Oh, there you are. (The hotel crew turn and notice Alastor right there; They scream and jump at Alastor's sudden appearance; Rosie claps and laughs.) Classic!!! (She elegantly approaches Alastor, a sway in her step.) We've been neglected ever since you've been puttin' on the ritz!
Alastor: (He chuckles proudly, checking his nails) That was quite a lovely and astute introduction, Rosie, I couldn't miss my shot to rise from the wings! (Leaning on his staff.) I apologize for my absence, but we both have our own affairs, as you know. I always enjoy this time we share, Rosie. I really do. You always have the happy saggly of saying the right thing at the right time! I remember, when we sang and hoofed it at last year's annual Cannibal fair dinner, you didn't do a thing wrong... Except eat my side of the potluck. (Mic plays stock laughter.)
Rosie: (She chuckles with a shit-eating grin.) Well, darling, you know what they say about my cravings. 'Rosie waits for no one!'
Alastor: And how! But what gave me the biggest kick I got at that dinner was when you got up and sang a song and I saw tears come to the eyes of those old-timers.
Rosie: (She turns her head and gives Alastor an 'oh, stop!' gesture.) Oh, don't sell yourself short, Al. When you got up on that stage and sang 'Ma Blushin' Rosie', I could see birds falling from the sky, cold dead... It was quite lovely!!!
"
— Rosie and Alastor batching up with each other.
"Ren: Here's something I don't understand. If you wanna sabotage this place so much, why do you keep helping us? You're not exactly doing a good job.
Alastor: Hahahaha! Where in Hell did you get an idea like that?! I don't want to sabotage this operation! This establishment's failure means good, potential entertainment going down the drainer! No, sir, I want the hotel to be the best it can possibly be!
Ren: Why?
Alastor: Why...? (chuckles darkly) ...Because watching people fail is all the sweeter when they were given every chance possible to succeed.
"
— Alastor and Ren's conversation after Alastor and Charlie's duet Heaven 2 Hell.
"Now, I enjoy the misery of others as much as the next fellow, but what you've done to these people when they've done nothing to deserve such a thing... It is... Unsavory. Fortunately, I have a very special place for filth like you."
Alastor to Yuck, before introducing him to The Show.
"Alastor: Wonder, wonderful, wonderful! Glad you all could join me to partake in some harmless witticisms!
Husk: I can't wait...
Alastor: Did you hear the one about the guy who invented the knock-knock joke?
Angel Dust: No, why?
Alastor: He won the NO-BELL prize! (he plays a laugh track on his cane)
Vaggie: Wow.
Niffty: THAT WAS A GOOD ONE, ALASTOR! (laughing hysterically)
Alastor: So a man walks into a theater and sits next to a pig. He turns to the pig and inquires 'What are you doing here?' The pig says 'Well, I liked the book'. Ah-hahahaha!! (Niffty continues laughing hysterically as the rest of the hotel crew remains silent, with the exception of Charlie awkwardly clapping)
Angel Dust: The fuck?
Alastor: What is brown and sticky?
Niffty: OOH! I KNOW THIS ONE! A STICK!!!
Alastor: (with a displeased smile) Yes, Niffty, a stick.
Fergus: Could have also said shit.
Alastor: I used to hate facial hair, but then it grew on me! Did you hear about the new restaurant on the moon? The food is out of this world!
Angel Dust: Tha fuck are you talkin' about? When have you been on the moon?
Alastor: What do you call someone with no body and no nose? ...Nobody knows! (he plays a laugh track on his cane)
Charlie: (laughing) Ok, you got me there, Al!
Alastor: How many apples grow on trees? ALL OF THEM! AH-HAHAHAHA!!! (Niffty laughs again) Why did the coffee file a police report? It was mugged! (Charlie stifles a laugh)
Ren: (sarcastically) These are some great jokes, Dad. (Vaggie laughs lightly)
Alastor: I thought about going on an all-almond diet, but that's just nuts! (Niffty falls out of her chair with laughter)
Angel Dust: I like nuts!
Alastor: Where did the little boy go after the explosion? ...Everywhere! (crickets as the hotel crew look on with shock and/or concern)
Vaggie: That- That's just awful. How is that funny?
Alastor: I suppose that one was an acquired taste. How about a joke about paper instead?
Angel Dust: NO! GET THA FUCK OFF THE STAGE!
Alastor: Oh, never mind, it's TEARable! (Fergus and Husk begin drinking alcohol excessively) I'd also tell a joke involving pizza, but it's a little cheesy! (he and Niffty laugh hysterically as Fergus, Angel, Ren, and Husk exit the room, Vaggie follows suit, dragging Charlie with her)
"
— Alastor trying to entertain the hotel crew with jokes.

Chapter 4

"So, you really insist on keeping these children under our roof despite the enormous danger their presence will incur? [...] (laughs) No problem at all, my dear! Back in my times, we used to ship all the boys to fight overseas, while the women would sing hilariously somber tunes while awaiting their return Oh, how could I forget 'We'll Meet Again'? Those tunes were a blast to hear, particularly because the words rang true for many of those involved in the war. Not everyone made it back home, and those songs really brought that truth to light. Of course, the only thing funnier than those silly sad songs was the look on those foolish women's faces when they realized for the first time that their men weren't coming back. (laughs) Ahh, those were the days... Anyway, sorry darling. I got a tad off-topic there for a moment. I assume they all had a blast, so please do carry on!"
— Alastor to Charlie about Charlie's Angels.
"Welcome, you filthy sinners! As you are aware, Charlie has business to settle within the Ring of Envy, so she has tasked me with punishing you lot! Unfortunately, at her behest, my preferred methods of correcting bad behavior have been... restricted. So I made other alternatives. In my days, little children would be spanked until they learned discipline! 'Grab a paddle, give 'em a rattle! If mischief won't lessen, teach 'em a lesson!' That's what my mother used to say and I am happy to uphold her values! I will be correcting all who were there on the... infringing day and all of the ugliness that entailed. You aren't quote adolescent enough for a paddle and some of you degenerates might even enjoy it... So I will punish you with the worst torture imaginable: BOREDOM!!!! Here are your options; you can read something... (Alastor is handed a newspaper by a shadow demon) like I'm going to do, or you can put your head on a table and sit quietly for six hours. (he goes to sit down as a dark chair in conjured from under him) I have some reading to catch up on, which is good, so I will be using this time productively. Whether you choose to do so as well is all up to you. For all the guilty parties, you may read or put your head on the table and reflect on how you ended up here, but whatever you do, it must be quiet so that the rest of us can enjoy some peace. Any disruptions will add 3 hours to the clock and believe you me, I have all the time in creation! And we are starting the clock... right now."
— Alastor punishing the hotel's unruly patients.
"Whoever said violence doesn't solve problems... Clearly had no idea what they were talking about!"
— Alastor after the battle with Leviathan.

Chapter 5

"Looking to fill your miserable, worthless afterlife with 24/7 exercises in false hope? Apply now and check into the new and improved Hazbin Hotel! If you're listening in, there's 50,000 souls in it for you, and the pleasure of watching you fail to claw your way to redemption for me!"
— Alastor advertising the Hazbin Hotel after its reopening.
"I must say, Charlie, I had my doubts about that rancid new friend of yours, but it seems as though she's actually pulled through! If this continues, we just might have to put a 'no vacancy' sign on the hotel doors for the very first time!! So many souls to look after! So many souls putting their faith all in you! (his tone darkens) So many hopeful souls lining up like livestock to fall into the pit of despair and realization of the failures they truly are... (cheerfully) Well, don't let me hold you back! Break a leg, kid!"
— Alastor to Charlie as they watch the hundreds of sinners checking into the Hazbin Hotel.
"Buskin: Alastor Hartfelt. Spirit of revenge opposite the wicked. Torturer of millions.
Sock: He protects the weak, yet tormented them should their agony entertain himself.
Buskin: The most irredeemable of the sinner caste. He shall never reform... and he knows it.
Alastor: Quite correct, you two! You've hit the nail on the head! Though, I'm personally not a fan of the honorifics. 'Alastor' would have suited just as well.
"
— Sock and Buskin roasting Alastor.
"Lux: I've been waiting to say this to you since I first got here! You stay away from Charlie, 'kay? She's my bitch, and if you do any creepy voodoo spells on her, I'll... I'll... I'll blind you! Or turn you back into a human! You wouldn't like that, would you?!
Alastor: (laughs) You've nothing to fret, my scintillating friend. I would never hurt a hair on Charlie's head, so long as she provides a steady stream of entertainment! If you don't mind me saying, you need to work on your intimidation. I could give you some pointers!
Lux: Get fucked with that shit! Now why don't you prance off and take a fucking bath with your bad SELF?
Alastor: Not much of a cunning linguist, are you? Then again, you were born yesterday. Ah-hahaha!
"
— Alastor is confronted by Lux after their awakening.
"Charlie: And, Via... (she motions to Alastor, whose grin deepens at seeing Octavia) This is Alastor. (she chuckles nervously) Y'know, (awkwardly) the Radio Demon~?
Crymini: (to Octavia) Yeah, Al got roped into babysitting or some fucking bullshit. I guess he's gonna make sure we're safe...
Octavia: Well, now I feel unsafe.
Alastor: (butting in between Octavia and Crymini) ALASTOR! (he forcefully shakes Via's hand, causing Crymini to growl lowly) Pleasure to meet the acquaintance of a (he politely bows) Goetic heiress!
Octavia: (she cringes when Alastor bows to her before looking at her hand, squinting) Is that... someone's... fucking blood?
Alastor: (hurriedly) It's technically my blood, I'm in possession of it. (normally) Now, (he wraps his one arm around Crymini and the other around Octavia; Crymini snarls while Octavia is cringing) I know you ladies may think you're of the age where you can engage in whatever rabble-rousing you take pleasure in, and, personally, I'd agree wholeheartedly! Buuut, Charlie insisted on my chaperoning. So, you can blame this all on her.
Crymini: (to Charlie) Yeah, leave us with the fuckin' cannibal, Overlord, dog-killer. (she crosses her arms) Good one, Char.
Charlie: (with a reassuring smile) You two have nothing to worry about. I ordered Al to only lay a finger on someone if it's to scare off any creeps... (she suddenly snaps to Alastor, looking scary as fuck and speaking in a corrupted, threatening, and protective tone) RIGHT, Al?
Alastor: Haha, indeed!! And everybody knows I would never break the rules, darling! (he sneers at Crymini) Besides... (he condescendingly pets Crymini) I only kill strays. (he and Mic laugh heartily together)
"
— Charlie tasks Alastor with looking after Crymini and Octavia / Octavia meeting Alastor.
"Valentino: (he exits a store beside one Crymini and Octavia were checking out, running into them; both of them look up at him with widened eyes; he looks down at them, a sharp grin creeping on his face) ...What are you doin' out here, alll alone in the big, scary city, hmmm~?
Crymini: (as Octavia looks like she's going into fight-or-flight mode, Crymini protectively puts herself in between the Overlord and Via) We know your game, you fuckin' shitsack. (flips him off) Go fuckin' deepthroat a cactus.
Valentino: Awwww, whaaat? Am I not your type? (he laughs, taking a drag on his cigarette and puffing a heart-shaped cloud at Octavia and Crymini) How cute. Your pet Hellhound is pretty feisty, I see, and that makes you all the more appealing to me~....
Crymini: PET FUCKIN' HELLHOUND?!?!
Octavia: (she begins glaring daggers at Valentino and steps in front of Crymini) She is not a pet, nor a Hellhound. She's my friend, and you'll do well to fuck off and leave us both alone. (she clenches her fists, which become consumed in purple fire; even Crymini seems surprised at what's happening)
Valentino: (he seems more amused, chuckling for about five seconds straight) Ah... A Goetia heireece runaway with daddy issues and her fiery mutt. (his eyes begin glowing pink as his grin deepens) I know there's an audience for you two somewhere... Tell me, what's your names?
Octavia: Like Heaven I'll tell you anything about us. And I'm not a runaway, dickhead.
Crymini: (her eyes turn full red and she stands beside Octavia) She said fuck off! Are you fuckin' deaf AND blind?!
Valentino: (to Crymini) I see your little birdie didn't bother domesticating you, what with you speaking when the high-class are talking. (to Octavia) It's alright, we all have our kinks. (he chuckles, titling his head in amusement as he suddenly grabs Crymini by the chin, leaning in) But since you're clearlyso desperate for my attention, here's a fun fact; fiery ones like you often give the best head. Such spunk is wasted when you're barely scraping by... Maybe after we... file your teeth or somethin', you could work wonders on your pillow princess here.
Octavia: (she grabs Val's wrist, her eyes glowing with anger) Leave. Her. Alone.
Valentino: (he recoils in surprise, then scowls in anger, raising his other hand as if to strike Octavia) You fucking-!!
Alastor: Valentino... (he materializes in between Valentino and the two, a broad grin on his face) Fancy running into you, but I think we've all just about had enough of your charm, hmmm?
Valentino: (he groans) Oh, fuck me, it's the Radio Demon... You part of this frilly girls' night out?
Alastor: Actually, Charlie, the princess of Hell mind you, put me in charge of chaperoning these two and preventing any and all 'creeps' looking to dampen their evening fun. That goes for creepy crawlies and deviant filth. Sound familiar...?
Valentino: (he sneers at Alastor, before turning to Octavia and Crymini, composing himself) Ladies, what do you say to removing this third wheel? Not everyone has to be a turbo virgin like him.
Alastor: (shaking his head and checking his nails) Mmm-mmm. I think these two ladies have said all they have to say to you.
Valentino: (he sneers, fixing his coat) Whatever the fuck you say, old man. (to Octavia and Crymini) My offer still stands, ladies. You know where to find me if you change your minds~ Vee Tower, can't miss it. (he blows out a large cloud of smoke that swirls around him; he teleports away through it, his laughs echoing)
Alastor: (long pause; cheerfully) ...Anyhoo, how was Stylish Occult?!
Crymini: (her left ear twitches and her tail flicks) Don’t think you’re off the fuckin' hook, radio fuck. You let him harass us for your own amusement and then swooped in and play the big hero, didn’t you?
Alastor: (with a large grin) Guilty as charged, my dear. I always enjoyed a touch of theatrics. (he and Mic laugh together, before his voice softening slightly) Though, I must admit... even I have limits. That pesky bug stepping any further would have surely spoiled our evening. And yours.
Octavia: (tilting her head) 'Our' evening...? (tentatively) So... you actually wanted to help us? Like, really helped us?
Alastor: (with a proud, mysterious grin and slight bow) Interpret my actions as you will. But, I do detest seeing the innocent or naïve tangled in the web of someone like him. (he leans on his cane) Now, you two continue your rabble-rousing! My advice? Commit vandalism! And the secret ingredient all the great nights-out; ARSON! Forget this ever happened. (he backs away, vanishing in the shadows) And I'll keep a close eye...
Crymini: (grumbling, crossing her arms, clearly not having it with Alastor's theatrics; she and Octavia continue walking down the streets of Pentagram City together) Fuckin' asshole Overlords.
Octavia: I still don’t trust that guy. But... that was pretty cool of him, I guess?
Crymini: (her look softens a bit) ...Yeah. I guess it was.
"
— Valentino harasses Crymini and Octavia after running into them on their night out.
"Lux: (Lux delightfully floats around Alastor) Well, looks like the hotel is more successful than ever! There's barely been any fighting amongst ourselves the last few days. (they stop floating in front of Alastor's face and grin smugly) What do you think of that, Rudolph?!
Alastor: It's certainly... unusual, I'll say that. I'd say the hotel is doing too well. Makes me suspicious, honestly.
Lux: You're just jealous that Charlie's winning! Admit it!
Alastor: (he chuckles) ...Jealous? Nah, not particularly. I'm just waiting for the other shoe to drop.
Lux: (they get in Alastor's face) Is that some kinda threat?!
Alastor: (his entire body dissolves into blackness and he reappears behind Lux, laughing) Don't get so bright and bothered! I'm not going to do anything! I'm simply going to wait for it to fall apart on its own.
Lux: What makes you so sure it's going to fall apart? There's been a few bumps in the road, sure, but we've weathered the storm and there's sunnier days ahead!
Alastor: (he laughs loudly) You really are new to this side of the afterlife, aren't you? This is HELL. Nobody ever truly gets better and there's always a catch when something good happens here.
Lux: (Lux looks down for a second before looking back at Alastor) I'll admit, I'm still learning much about Hell, but I have had the distinct pleasure of meeting other angels and primordial beings who have told me a lot of interesting things. I know the difficulty of redeeming the fallen in Hell, but I'm not willing to just give up! I feel like Hell may be a bit more pleasant if there were more redemption opportunities or if some souls were at least given a chance to make things... better.
Alastor: (he shakes his head, still grinning widely) Oh, you're just a little too optimistic for my tastes. You see, Hell likes to teach beings like you and Charlie a lesson, one way or another. (Alastor begins backing into the shadows) And when reality comes crashing down hard enough, I'll be there to sit back and say I told you so... (he fades into the shadows, his eyes and smile still illuminated) after I have a good laugh, of course.
"
— Alastor cryptically foreshadowing terrible things to come.
Sera: As if you aren't brainwashed by some demonic influence. (her glare deepens at Alastor) I assure you, Radio Demon. No amount of repentance will get you past the pearly gates. I do not play these games.
Alastor: (Alastor and Mic both laugh uproariously, waving his hand in Sera's face) Oh, darling! Darling, darling, darling, darling- SWEETHEART!! Hahaha! (his voice is full of passive-aggressiveness) Fret not! I'm not planning on going anywhere near those gaudy 'pearly gates' of yours. ME, among those silly, drab little do-gooders... (the lights around him and Sera flicker) No... (he menacingly approaches Sera, who narrows her eyes and flares her wings, eyes appearing across her body) I intend to stay RIGHT WHERE I AM, take some pleasure out of my time down here, (he uses black tentacles to elevate himself to Sera's face) and bide my time until me and an old friend of ours can reclaim what you've KEPT from ME...
"
— Alastor and Sera meet.
"Sera: If anything happens to Serenity, Radio Demon... (Fire appears in Sera's eyes) I will raze the sinful flesh from your bones.
Alastor: (Alastor casually checks his nails) Come now, princess, smile! I believe your darling sister's in the groove on this one! The ends will justify the means. You of all people would agree with me... (Alastor snaps his head to Sera, his smile unhinged) RIGHT?
"
— Alastor and Sera.

???

"Buskin: (dry chuckle) Thou wish'st to do battle with the Rulers of the Script, Alastor? How droll.
Sock: (joyful chuckle) Thinking you can challenge the Overlords of Theater after we sent you running with your cute little tail tucked between your legs? My, I didn't know you were well-versed in comedy! Hehehe!!!
Alastor: (he shows mild irritation in his smile at Sock's comment on his tail, but confidently points his staff at them, ready to rumble) I've learned a thing or two since our last romp, Theater Twins. And I'd like to make some overdue revisions to that drab little script of yours. Now... Lllet's get ready to rumble!!
"
— Sock and Buskin and Alastor.

Quotes Pertaining to Alastor

"Deep within the recesses of Hell, there lies a demon who is so evil and so powerful, that very few dare to cross him. A demon so vicious and deadly, that the blood of his victims stains every part of his body. A demon so frightening and encased in mystery, some dare to question if he has ever existed in the first place. It is said that he has the power to dominate the seven rings of Hell. A power that, if left unchecked, could tear apart the very fabric of the void itself. And he'd happily do it with a skip in his step and a wide, toothy smile on his face. They call him... The Radio Demon."
— Blue Raven in the intro to "A Day in the Afterlife".
"Decades ago, Alastor manifested in Hell. Seemingly overnight, he began to topple Overlords who have been dominant for centuries. That kind of raw power had never been harnessed by a mortal soul before. Then, he's broadcast his carnage all throughout Hell just so everyone could witness his ability. Sinners started calling him "The Radio Demon"... As lazy as that is. Many have speculated what unimaginable force enabled him to rival our world's most ancient and destructive evils. But one thing's for sure: He's an unpredictable source of danger, a wicked spirit of mystery, and a violent monster of chaos, the likes of which we can't risk getting involved with unless we want to end up erased!"
— Vaggie explaining who Alastor is to Angel Dust.
"Charlie, listen to me. You can't believe this creep! He isn't just a happy face! He's a deal maker! Pure evil! He can't be redeemed! ...And is most likely looking for a way to destroy everything we're trying to do!"
— Vaggie to Charlie regarding Alastor.
"He's REAAAL nice when you get to know him!"
— Niffty reassuring Fergus after Alastor threatened him.
"We are all pawns in Alastor's game."
— A crazed sinner.
"The rumors are true: Alastor the Radio Demon is consorting with the Princess of Hell at her extravagant hotel! How amusingly out-of-character! What could possibly be the motive behind such an unlikely alliance? A mere spectacle for public attention, one might surmise? Is he down bad perhaps...? The answer is clear, my devoted followers. It's merely another desperate endeavor to grasp at fading relevance. Alastor... we see through your façade. Try as you will and try as you might, you are but a relic, a bygone era, a... has-been. Your actions, especially not whatever the fuck you're doing at that stupid hotel, will ever alter this reality, old man."
— Vox during his broadcast.
"Good will accept you... Evil will try to change you."
— A message to Charlie about Vaggie and Alastor, warning Charlie about Alastor's influence.
"(cackling) This is the best you can do? Dolls and a little tentacle action? C'moooon! Where's the Radio Demon who brought legions to their knees? The Radio Demon that Overlords pissed themselves just thinking about? (laughing) Or- Oooor... Is this really your best? (laughs) That's your problem, old man; always stuck in the past, using your old trick we've seen a thousand times. Meanwhile, I've adapted, evolved. But, by all means, keep trying! If you're not gonna give me a good fight, you might as well amuse me with how pathetic you are, right?"
— Vox taunting Alastor during their fight.
"I don't get your boss. How is he so happy and smiley all the time? It freaks me out. Like, this is Hell. No one cares if you're happy! STOP SMILING AND BE DEPRESSED LIKE THE REST OF US!"
— Crymini to Husk about Alastor.
"He's the evilest guy in all of Hell... He's always lurking in the shadows... Looking for some way to hurt Charlie... He's been keeping his distance since I showed up, but I know that he's just biding his time, waiting for the perfect moment to strike! Not gonna happen on my watch, I'll tell you that!"
— Lux about Alastor.
"Alastor isn't even relevant, he's not a threat to me, he's as old as the dinosaurs, he's a fake ass 'asexual' who simps for Charlie and walks around with a giant fucking dildo on a stick. He'll fail and so will the stupid hotel bullshit. I'm not even going to attempt to 'deal' with him, because that would be implying that some sort of competition was even fucking possible. The most effective and soul-crushing way to outcompete Alastor, is to completely ignore him. Let the Elder Furry fade away into irrelevance like the device he's based his entire life on, and let him wallow in his own failure. Which he will."
— Vox to Velvette.
"You claim to be on Heaven's side, and yet you ally yourself with the Radio Demon. An interesting contradiction, to say the least. I will give you this, Princess, he is a rather resourceful demon who, if he wasn't so thoroughly evil, would make an excellent ally. Be that as it may, his heinous atrocities are so blasphemous that even the saints and Heavenborn quiver at the mention of his name. He has great skill and talent, and I have some grudging respect for that. But, he has made it very clear that he has no intention of reforming himself nor the capacity to even perform good deeds. I find your credibility very questionable when you would associate with one who harms those who are innocent and faithful to God and the order of Heaven."
— Sera to Charlie.

Trivia

  • Alastor's name in ancient Greek means "spirit of revenge" or "tormentor". Given that he was a serial killer in life (specifically one who mostly targeted criminals) and enjoys torturing his victims, this is very fitting.
    • His surname "Hartfelt" is a play on the expression "heartfelt" which means "sincere; deeply and strongly felt". The "hart" part of his surname also befits his deer motif, as a hart is a male, red stag.
      • Alastor goes by his mother's last name, as opposed to his father's, which is quite uncommon as, historically, (and especially during Alastor's lifetime) many societies were patriarchal and lineage was traced through the male line, with any such deviations being considered controversial.
  • His theme song would either be "You're Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile" by Daniel Craig, "Let's Misbehave" by Cole Porter and Irving Aaronson, or "Smile" by Charlie Chaplin.
  • Alastor is meant to serve as a villainous counterpart to the series' main protagonist, Charlie Magne. Both of them are generally affable towards others; possess a generally upbeat disposition; love musicals and have a penchant for impromptu musical numbers; and are more human in appearance compared to Hell's other denizens. The main difference between the two is that Charlie is a genuinely good-natured demon who passionately believes in redemption and that every sinner deserves a chance to be reformed, whereas Alastor is a feared and monstrous Overlord who believes redemption is nonsense and sinners are beyond such a thing.
  • The series' authors intentionally wrote Alastor in a way to subvert the "Jerk with a Heart of Gold" trope, in that, rather than having a hidden heart of gold or slowly growing to care about the Hazbin crew, Alastor completely lacks any redeeming qualities, consistently hates almost everybody in the main cast, and only becomes worse as the series continues.
  • The authors of the series listened to hours of real-life radio broadcasts from the 30s while writing Alastor, so that his dialect would be as authentic and "aggressively 30s as possible".
  • Is aroace because he is too heartless to love anyone besides himself.
    • He is also a virgin.
  • He thinks that Heaven is worse than Hell.
  • Because of his friendship with Lucifer, Alastor is an honored guest of The Circus and is a diplomat of Hell itself. This is also one of the reasons why Charlie allowed him to be at the hotel, since Alastor could give her a direct line to Heaven.
  • The authors of Journey to the Light have teased that Alastor will eventually become an antagonist, but it will only happen when the viewers would least expect it.
  • While Alastor is virulently irreligious, he is quite knowledgeable on prayers and can recite many by heart. This is because the many people he tortured and murdered in life would pray as he did so, so he learned them over time.
  • Alastor is the second character to be an ascended demon, the other being Lilith.
  • Alastor is the subject of numerous running gags throughout the series:
    • Due to his insisting on the hotel being called the 'Hazbin Hotel', a running gag throughout the series is him and Charlie arguing over the hotel's name.
    • Another running gag throughout the series is Alastor almost always appearing suddenly, startling the hotel crew or other people.
    • Whenever he attempts to greet someone, they almost always run away in fear or avoid him before he can even finish saying a simple "Hello".
    • He will randomly make a jab or ridiculing comment at Baxter, making his hatred of the scientist very apparent but never elaborating as to why.
  • Alastor utterly despises dogs, going into an almost animalistic fury whenever he sees a dog or anything resembling them, such as Hellhounds. This is most likely a (possibly PTSD-related) response to his death from being mauled by a pack of hunting dogs.
  • Lux, Serenity and Buskin claim that Alastor is the single most irredeemably evil soul in all of Hell.
  • Speaks with a very faint Southern accent which is only apparent whenever he is angry.
  • At one point, Alastor jokes that his signature outfit was white when he first obtained it, implying that it was stained red from the blood of his victims.
  • Squish and Fergus claim that Alastor has several pet alligators who guard his radio tower against intruders.
  • Though Alastor hates anything that is modern, he enjoys old horror movies and watched many Buster Keaton films while he was alive.
  • While Alastor hates almost everybody inside the Hazbin Hotel to a certain extent, he seems to especially despise Baxter, and no one knows why.
  • Alastor can speak in some demonic tongues, which was taught to him by Rosie.
  • According to Vaggie, Alastor has a very unnatural way of sleeping; as opposed to laying down, he "sleeps" by standing straight and facing a corner with his eyes wide open.
  • Alastor is one of the few Overlords that is not exclusively referred to by a nickname in Hell. Although most souls regard him only as "the Radio Demon", Alastor himself prefers to stick with his true name, as he is not a fan of making nicknames for himself.
  • His favorite holiday is Christmas, since he has fond memories of it with his mother, and because it brings people lots of joy and smiles.
  • Alastor has a quirk of gifting his favorite people in Hell with poppets crafted in their image as a token of good fortune, such as Rosie, Niffty, Mimzy and Lucifer.
  • Alastor is a masochist, which allows him to smile even through horrible physical and emotional pain.
  • He has his own dedicated booth in every single one of Mimzy's theaters.
  • Alastor is not a fan of hygiene and refuses to brush his teeth or take a bath. As a result of this, he carries an extremely pungent order which everybody in the hotel has complained about at least once. Angel Dust eloquently describes his stench as being like a "dumpster fire filled with shit-brown swamp water, a thousand puss-filled rotting assholes, and century-old used condoms".
    • In life, Alastor used to care a lot about his appearance and continually kept himself well-kempt, though this care for himself degraded after becoming a demon (though he did make strides to hide the scars of his handshake with the eldritch evil being).
  • Alastor, both in life and afterlife, avoids killing children—not out of morality, but because they lack the strength to offer him a real challenge (since he likes his victims to fight back). However, he readily disciplines bratty or misbehaving kids through corporal punishment, torture, or even leaving lifelong scars. He also does openly take twisted pleasure in children's pain not caused by himself.
  • Of everyone in the hotel crew, Alastor would give the worst hugs.
  • Alastor is very passionate about food; he is considered to be a "food snob", and despises "lazy" processed meals such as canned cheese, Easy Mac, and other such items. He also dislikes sweets, as seen by his negative comments on Velvette's confectionery shop, The Sweet Spot. This was also demonstrated in "A Day in the Afterlife", when he demands that the venison from the butcher shop be carefully skinned, as he wants "fresh meat, not bubblegum."
  • Alastor owns the Hazbin Hotel's kitchen. When he's cooking, no one is allowed in the kitchen lest he sic tentacle demons or unleash the gators on everybody (though Charlie makes him swear on his mother to not put any sinner remains in any dishes he plans to share with the crew). Only Niffty or (sometimes) Charlie are allowed to waltz in on him.
  • Alastor has come to blows with Sock and Buskin in the past during his conquering of Overlords, with it being implied that he was defeated by the conjoined Overlords.
  • Some sinners can be heard gossiping about Alastor and Lucifer being the same entity, due to their eerily similar appearances and vaguely similar personalities. This is a reference to the old ass fan theory that Lucifer is Alastor in disguise.
  • Sometimes, whenever Alastor makes a joke or insults someone, the sound of canned audience laughter can be heard, apparently coming from the radio on his cane.
  • In "Heaven Meets Hell", it is mentioned that Alastor's crimes and reign of terror in Hell were so infamous and horrific that the angels in Heaven are aware of him.
  • A running theme throughout the series is that, despite being sworn enemies, Alastor and Vox are not that different from each other.
    • They are both Overlords based on a technological device.
    • They have similar tastes in attire and extravagant, showman-like attitudes.
    • They are massive attention whores who love the spotlight and have a very high opinion of themselves, though Alastor isn't nearly as arrogant as Vox.
    • Both are proudly irredeemable and ridicule the possibility of redemption.
    • They both hate being touched and value being respected and feared, and yet they have little to no concern for the personal space of others, coming across as somewhat rude.
