Salvatore, known in Hell as Arackniss, is a supporting antagonist in Hazbin Hotel: Journey to the Light.
He was a chain-smoking, hot-tempered mobster, the edgy older brother of Angel Dust and Molly, and the son, right-hand man, and ward of Henroin. As Henroin's eldest son, Arackniss was raised from a young age to be a merciless and efficient mobster and served as the underboss of his father's mafia organization in Hell. Plagued by height issues since his life, he was an extremely loud, loose cannon with the mouth of a sailor, and an almost completely humorless attitude, unlike the rest of his family members.
Biography
Background
Arackniss was the first-born child of Henroin, an infamous mafia boss, and his wife Annie and was later followed by Anthony and Molly, his younger brother and sister respectively. Growing up, Arackniss suffered from a disorder that left him smaller than usual, which his father and Anthony would ridicule him for, thus he developed problems with inferiority. Despite his height angst, he was claimed to have been favored by their father, who raised him to become an underboss of the mafia. He was noted by Angel Dust to be far more adapt to the mafia lifestyle, and was emotionally distant and cold towards his brother.
Eventually, Arackniss died in his 50s and was reborn in Hell. Shortly afterward, he reconnected with his father and was appointed as the official underboss of his new mafia family based in Pentagram City.
Arackniss returned to his father's base to discovered Henroin brutalizing Angel Dust, who had found his way to them. Henroin and Arackniss had both discovered Angel's sexuality before he found them, which his father was disgusted by. Before his father could kill his brother with a blessed handgun, Arackniss managed to talk their father out of it, saying that Angel was not worth killing. Despite sparing him, Henroin bluntly threatened to murder Angel is he ever even approached him or Arackniss, before disowning him and leaving to fend for himself. After his father seemingly left, a battered Angel Dust, choking on his own blood, reached out for Arackniss as he saw him through his blood-stained eyes, weakly calling his name for help. Arackniss pondered the situation, before hearing his father angrily calling for him to leave. Fighting back tears, Arackniss emotionally collapsed and left his brother behind.
Following this, Arackniss continued to serve as Henroin's second-in-command, managing several of his business dealings and pulling off massacres and executions on rival gangs or any associate who disappointed him. Arackniss and Angel, despite disowning each other, would occasionally cross paths on the streets of Pentagram City, which would often see the two devolve into screaming matches at each other.
Chapter 5
In "My Brotha Arackniss", Arackniss is captured by Sir Pentious, Loopty Goopty, and Lyle Lipton, who have all mistaken him as being Angel Dust. They broadcast his capture on a rented local television station, which Angel Dust himself witnesses. He becomes conflicted over whether or not he should save his brother, claiming that he and Arackniss have never had any positive interactions with each other. However, at the behest and coercion of Manco and the seven angels, Angel chooses to rescue his brother. He brings Cherri Bomb as backup, who only agrees to come along so she can embarrass Sir Pentious and his new friends.
Meanwhile, Arackniss - who is chained to conveyer belt - furiously tries to tell Pentious that he isn't Angel Dust, but Pentious refuses to believe him, noting that Angel is excellent at disguising himself, and activates the conveyor belt, revealing it to be a death trap that leads to a meat-grinding machine. When Angel and Cherri arrive to the scene, the latter provides a distraction while Angel unchains Arackniss. Arackniss angrily insists he did not need Angel's help. When Pentious and his comrades unleash the Egg Bois and mechanical henchmen on Arackniss, Angel, and Cherri, the trio fight off the supervillains' minions together, with Arackniss using his machine gun to wipe out the Egg Bois, cackling maniacally along with Angel Dust. During the battle, Izzi arrives to Pentious' base to tell him that he fucked up and that Arackniss is not Angel Dust, and notices the skirmish going on. Amongst the chaos, he and Cherri Bomb lock eyes with each other; Izzi grins at her menacingly, while Cherri glares at him with burning hatred. Wanting to get away from Izzi as fast as possible, Cherri grabs Angel and leaps out of a nearby window, throwing a large bomb to mask her escape. Arackniss clumsily climbs out of the shattered window before being knocked out the window by the force of the explosion, landing on his face and next to Angel and Cherri.
Cherri, Angel, and Arackniss hijack a nearby car to make a getaway, but they are not out of the woods as Sir Pentious deploys the Egg Bois to pursue them, who chase the trio through the streets of Pentagram City in modified go-karts. With Cherri on the wheel, Arackniss and Angel try to shake the Egg Bois off by shooting at them, bantering along the way. When another unit of Egg Bois follow them in bi-planes, Arackniss tries take the wheel from Cherri, but she refuses and taunts him that his legs couldn't reach the pedals. Eventually, the trio manage to escape when Cherri drives through a large, abandoned mall that she wired with explosives months ago; before driving out the other end of the building, she detonates the explosives and uses the massive explosion and debris to cover their escape.
With the trio in the clear, Arackniss asks Angel why he and Cherri even bothered to save him, and Angel replies that he owed Arackniss for saving him from Henroin (which visibly affects the latter), and just wanted to pay his debt. Arackniss still furiously says that he will kill Angel Dust as he violated Henroin's wish for him to avoid Arackniss. Angel does not take Arackniss' threat seriously, and he and Cherri proceed to kick him out of the car and into a pile a trash before speeding off, leaving Arackniss stewing in his own rage.
In "A Behemoth of Fun", Arackniss, still covered in garbage and a rat living in his hair, Arackniss, prowls the Hazbin Hotel while clutching binoculars, intent on spying on Angel Dust amidst the pouring rain. He successfully catches a glimpse of Angel, only to be astounded as he notices Molly tailing closely behind. This unexpected sight leaves Arackniss bewildered, convinced he has encountered a spectral apparition.
Arackniss finally returns to Henroin's manor during a storm. He enters the mansion drenched in rain and swearing and muttering profusely under his breath as he storms upstairs. He enters his room and begins arming himself with weapons. Henroin appears and inquires the source of his son's anger and where Arackniss has been this entire time, to which Arackniss tells him that Angel had broken their truce. Arackniss then informs his father that he believed that he saw Molly while scoping out the hotel. In response, Henroin ducks Arackniss in the face for speaking Molly's name, telling his son that she was too good for Hell and threatening to kill Arackniss for suggesting otherwise. Henroin then orders Arackniss to follow him to his office.
Arackniss follows Henroin into his study, where one of Henroin's thugs reveals that they had spotted Angel with Moxxie at a bar. Arackniss, thinking that Angel and Moxxie are lovers, uses this to make a homophobic joke about their alleged sexual activity, though Henroin is less than amused. Arackniss suggests a plot to kill two birds with one stone by getting Crimson's help to torture and dispose of Moxxie and Angel. Henroin takes his son's advice under consideration and orders his receptionist to contact Crimson for a deal.
In "Extermination Day: Part 1", Arackniss tries to call the Hazbin Hotel's line to get information on Angel Dust. Crymini answers the phone on Husk's behalf. Arackniss' conversation with Crymini devolves into a hilarious screaming match, with the two hurling insults and slurs at each other.
In "What A Tangled Web We Weave", Angel Dust, Husk, Fergus, and Moxxie decide to have a night out on the town to celebrate Angel's impending ascension to Heaven. However, their night takes a dangerous turn when Arackniss, along with Henroin and Crimson's goons, begins to stalk them. Amidst a heartfelt conversation between Moxxie and Angel, Arackniss and his crew collide with Angel and his friends' vehicle, causing disorientation and alertness. Angel Dust bravely fights back with his Thommy gun, aiming to protect the injured Moxxie.
In the chaos, Angel carries Moxxie to safety while engaging the mob force. Moxxie identifies the attackers as his father's henchmen, the shark goons, while Angel recognizes the spider goons as his father's loyalists. During the struggle, Angel is ambushed by a smaller goon, leading to Moxxie being captured by the shark demons. Driven by determination to rescue Moxxie, Angel subdues the masked assailant, ready to kill them via a head shot. Yet, his resolve wavers as the small goon removes his mask, revealing Arackniss. Caught off guard and not willing to kill his brother, Angel hesitates, leading to him being tased into unconsciousness by another goon from behind. As Angel loses consciousness, Arackniss mockingly tells Angel that he should have taken the shot.
Angel Dust and Moxxie found themselves bound and brought to Henroin's mansion, where they are confronted by their parents. Much to Angel and Moxxie's amusement, it becomes clear that Henroin and Crimson mistakenly believe the two are gay lovers. Despite their respective fathers threatening them, Angel and Moxxie both stood strong, rebuking their parents' ignorance regarding LGBTQ terminology, mocking their lack of understanding and ignorance. Henroin socks Angel in the face to silence him and spitefully goes to poison Moxxie with his stinger, though he stood down after Crimson told Henroin that Moxxie was his to deal with. Henroin planned a public execution of Angel and Moxxie among Hell's mafia as an intimidation tactic.
Angel and Moxxie were tossed into a cage to rot under Arackniss and Alessio's watchful eyes. Arackniss, still fuming from Angel's earlier humiliation of Henroin, confronted his brother aggressively. He criticized Angel for not having the guts to kill him, demeaning him for his lack of ruthlessness towards family. In a surprising moment of vulnerability, Angel tried to bridge the gap with Arackniss, putting aside jokes and bravado to understand why he remained loyal to Henroin. Moxxie desperately pleaded with Arackniss to spare Millie, emphasizing her pregnancy, but Arackniss did not fall for Moxxie's seeming attempt to "tug at his heart strings" and remained resolute in his mission. Moxxie, gaining a cold expression, said that Millie will kill them all if they tried, a statement which is backed up by Angel Dust. Arackniss merely scoffed and laughed at the idea of being beaten by a woman. He, accompanied by Alessio and a sizable contingent of goons, set off to carry out the assassination.
In "The Family Jewels", Arackniss, Alessio, and their gang launch an assault on Millie while she searches for Moxxie and Angel alongside Molly. Millie attempts to confront the attackers, but Molly intervenes, refusing to let her engage due to her pregnancy. Taking matters into her own hands, Molly employs her four arms to draw pink pistols and defend against the thugs. Mesmerized, Millie observes this impressive display. In the midst of the chaos, Arackniss steps forward, leading to a comical showdown with Millie; Arackniss gets the ever-afterliving crap beaten out of him by Millie, who graciously allows him a free hit before pulverizing him. Yet, Arackniss gains an advantage by resorting to cheating, wielding a gun against Millie in what was meant to be a fair fistfight. As Millie stands her ground, Arackniss closely inspects her and is taken aback as he notices her burgeoning baby bump, gaining a horrified expression.
Alessio suddenly emerges, seizing Millie from behind with the intention of ruthlessly ending her life with a gunshot to the head. Molly desperately attempts to fire at Alessio, but her guns run dry, prompting him to pivot towards her. Molly nervously chuckles, brandishing a makeshift white flag from her purse. Unswayed by her theatrics, Alessio readies his weapon to kill Millie. However, in a surprising turn, Arackniss intervenes, fatally shooting Alessio in the head, refusing to partake in the murder of a pregnant woman.
In the aftermath of the tumultuous encounter, Molly and Arackniss come back together, though Arackniss makes the reunion slightly awkward by refusing a hug, prompting Molly to initiate the embrace while he grumbles. In the midst of this chaos, Rum holds Molly hostage, but Arackniss rushes in and saves her by poisoning Rum with his fangs Arackniss then attempts to grapple Stolas' grimoire by Izzi's hands, only for Striker to appear and wound Arackniss with a shot to the leg. As Arackniss falls to the ground in agony, Striker mercilessly erased Arackniss with a shot to the head. Molly and Angel are left devastated and speechless at his abrupt loss.
Henroin arrives at the gruesome scene, witnessing the loss of his son and Molly kneeling over his corpse. Overwhelmed by grief, Henroin rushes over, shoving Molly and Angel out of the way and cradling Arackniss' lifeless body, breaking down in tears for the first time.
Personality
Arackniss was a hard-shelled, impatient, unintentionally comical, and incredibly hot-headed mobster. A lovable, edgy tryhard, e clings to his "tough guy" exterior like he does a Thommy gun, burying any outward affection and love he has for others under a gritty exterior. he commanded respect and fear from other people, but was unfortunately often the butt of many jokes at his expense. Most often, he was ridiculed by other sinners for his very small stature, which undermined his attempts to act intimidating. While attending deals on his father's behalf, he tried to extort or intimidate his father's business partners into forfeiting their resources, believing himself to be far scarier than he thought he was, when in reality the fear he inspired was entirely on the part of his father.
Arackniss was incredibly, comically hot-headed and aggressive, willing to maim or murder anyone who refused to take him seriously or crack jokes at his expense, or causing brawls for seemingly no intelligible reason. He also displayed a willingness to murder anyone who crossed his father's mafia and took psychotic pleasure in killing anyone who provoked him.
He stood out as the only member of his family to be completely humorless and serious, though this did not stop people from making jokes at his expense. That said, he still had a very crude sense of humor, though many of his "jokes" were incredibly tasteless.
He was noted to have been very cold towards his siblings, especially Angel Dust, who he scorned initially due to his perceived disrespect to Henroin, and later due to his sexuality. He also found his sister, Molly, annoying and tried to stay away from her due to her interest in "girly" things such as makeup and fashion making, thus they were very distant while alive. He was very respectful of his father, Henroin, and appeared to outright fear him, following his orders to the letter. Angel had noted that Arackniss took to the mobster lifestyle more than Angel himself did, and as such he was preferred by Henroin over Angel.
Despite his violent and homophobic tendencies, Arackniss displayed glimpses of redeeming qualities and a softer side. He once intervened to prevent Henroin from erasing Angel, ostensibly framing it as his brother not being worth killing. However, a poignant glance he gave the battered Angel suggested that a part of him did not wish harm upon his brother, regardless of his sexuality. However, this fragile understanding rather sporadically shattered when Angel Dust rescued Arackniss from Sir Pentious, thereby violating Henroin's strict decree for Angel to stay away from Arackniss. Arackniss responded with fury and ingratitude toward Angel, vowing to kill him, informing Henroin of the situation, leading to him allying himself with Crimson to target Angel for retribution.

He revealed that his aggression towards Angel was fueled by a desire for revenge against years of humiliation and mistreatment at his brother's hand, telling Angel that he made him. He brutally lambasted Angel for his perceived weakness and inability to stand up to their father, Henroin. However, Angel lashed out at Arackniss defiantly, tearfully spilling his heart out at his brother and telling Arackniss of the pain he endured due to their father's favoritism towards Arackniss and the verbal and physical he suffered for not conforming to their father's expectations. Though Arackniss was visibly caught off-guard by Angel's emotional words, he remained steadfast in his loyalty to Henroin.
However, Molly was able to convince Arackniss to help save Angel. Arackniss initially displayed reluctance and apprehension, especially when confronted with the prospect of defying their father, Henroin. However, Molly's reassurance and encouragement emboldened Arackniss to reconsider his next course of action, eventually leading him to assist Molly and Millie in their quest to find Angel and Moxxie, though he made it clear he would not help Angel any more beyond helping him escape Henroin's mansion.
In the end, Angel seemed touched for Arackniss risking his afterlife to save him. When all hell broke loose and the mafia went after Arackniss and Henroin, the brothers grabbed their guns and slaughtered the mafia while laughing crazily together. Henroin was Arackniss' father and the one who introduced Arackniss to the mobster lifestyle. Arackniss was unquestionably the favored child in their father's eyes, far surpassing the regard given to Angel Dust. Arackniss harbored deep fear of Henroin due to his unrelenting brutality, often reacting with a flinch to his sudden movements. Despite this fear, Arackniss showed an immense amount of respect for Henroin, even when Henroin resorted to physical violence to correct Arackniss for his mistakes.
Molly
Molly is Arackniss's younger sister, but their relationship was initially fraught with tension and negativity. Arackniss strongly disapproved of Molly, primarily due to her feminine traits and lively, energetic nature, which clashed with his own demeanor. Conversely, Molly found fault in her brother's lack of humor and his treatment of Angel Dust, which only deepened their discord. During their time together in the living world, Molly took great pleasure in pranking and teasing Arackniss, much to his irritation and frustration.
However, upon encountering Molly again in her temporary visit Hell, Arackniss and Molly's relationship improved. Despite him showing initial reluctance to embrace Molly, and his fears of defying their father, Molly offered her older brother reassurance and support, passionately emphasizing the love he holds for Angel Dust. Arackniss eventually agreed to help Molly and Millie, showing a willingness to assist them, though he claimed he was not going to help them any more than that.
