"Your people may appear demonic, but, deep down, they are still human. Souls who fell to the darkness. There is always room for forgiveness, and no angel in the right would turn their back on humanity if there was not something they could do to save them. There is a better way, and you must look to the light and discover a way to make your dreams a reality."
— Forti to Charlie.
"Hold on to the light, Charlotte... and never let go..."
— Forti's final words as he succumbs to his self-inflicted wounds.

Archangel Forti Morningstar of the Heavenly Host is a major protagonist in Hazbin Hotel: Journey to the Light.

He serves as a minor but pivotal protagonist in Chapter 1, the overarching protagonist of Chapter 2, the deuteragonist in Chapter 3, the posthumous overarching protagonist of Chapter 4 and a posthumous protagonist of Chapter 5.

Formerly a seemingly normal Heavenborn angel before pulling Excalibur from its magical stone, Forti was an ascended archangel and the first commander of Heaven's military the Heavenly Host, and God's top servant and champion. When Lucifer and Satan attacked Heaven and the Universe with their respective armies, Forti and his fellow archangels rose to end their onslaught and, despite losing nearly all of his fellow archangels to Satan, he was successful in sealing the Devil and its followers in Purgatory, sacrificing himself in the process by imprisoning himself with them. Afterward, Satan took revenge on Forti by trapping him in a torturous prison and left him to suffer in the vacant dimension of Limbo.

Billions of years later, Forti contacted the Princess of Hell, Charlie Magne, and guided her and the hotel crew on a quest to free him. After the crew successfully freed Forti from Limbo, the archangel joined them on their mission to save Manco from Purgatory. After Manco was freed, Forti began his crusade to end Satan once and for all. During an attempt to help Charlie and the warrior angel Adina, Forti was poisoned by Satan and forced to kill Adina, leaving him riddled with guilt, and resulting in him sending himself into a self-exile to protect Charlie and the hotel crew. Eight years later, Forti returned in a weakened state to help the hotel crew rescue Charlie from being corrupted by Satan. After aiding the hotel crew in finally escaping Purgatory, Forti, refusing to be corrupted by Satan and used as a weapon against the Universe, fatally stabbed himself with his own legendary sword, saving creation from certain destruction and leaving behind an inspiring legacy as the Archangel who saved all creation.

Forti's body was later recovered by the Morningstar siblings and given a proper burial, while, his sword, Excalibur was mended by God and bestowed upon Michael.

Personality

When he was the head of the archangels, Forti was stern, intimidating, and lionhearted, but truly and deeply benevolent. He was unwaveringly loyal to God, Heaven, and the Universe, fighting against countless cosmic and divine threats to defend his homeland and all souls within, even willingly allowing himself to be imprisoned with Satan and the Army of Darkness if it meant the Devil could also be imprisoned in the process. Despite his serious and stoic deposition, he was a deeply compassionate angel who possessed a profound love for life itself and all of God's creations. He clearly cared for his fellow angels, as demonstrated when he commanded the hotel crew to save Manco from Purgatory, and his immense guilt when Satan forced him to kill Adina. His benevolence even extended to demons, as he defended the hotel crew from being killed by Satan and the Army of Darkness while they were trapped in Purgatory, and shielded Charlie from being struck by one of Satan's poisonous spikes, which resulted in him being poisoned, thus costing him his life in the long run. He also affectionately addressed Charlie by "my child", and embraced her when she was left distraught after Adina's death.

Forti's entire crusade to end Satan and Lucifer was built upon the fact that he wanted to avenge his fallen archangels and all the lives lost during the War in Heaven, to ensure that no one else would have to endure the same agony he went through when he failed to protect them. And ultimately, he gave his own life to give the hotel crew a way out of Purgatory, and to ensure that Satan would not use him as a puppet to destroy the Universe.

Around Charlie and the hotel crew, Forti assumed the role of a mentor and a guide. Due to being ancient, Forti possessed a large vocabulary and used older and more formal words, such as "abscond" while ordering the hotel crew to escape from Manco's prison. His preferred word choices, method of phrasing his sentences, and serious personality often led to comedic interactions with the more rude and immature members of the hotel crew, especially Angel Dust. But despite his regal manner of presenting himself, Forti did possess a far more down-to-earth attitude while interacting with his subjects, playing with the young children of Heaven and joining in on the caroling with other angels. He was shown to get annoyed with Angel Dust's backhanded comment regarding his "family jewels", and openly berated Husk for suggesting that he quit his position as archangel and take a "permanent vacation". Due to being an ancient angel, he appeared to have seemingly no knowledge of obscenities, as he seemed slightly confused when Angel Dust called Beelzebub a "fucking asshole", and uncertainly repeated Angel's words.

While being benevolent to his people, Forti possessed a notable ruthless side to all who threatened Heaven. As Heaven's champion and greatest protector, he was exceptionally ruthless while dealing with those who threatened his subjects and homeworld, had little to no qualms with using lethal force against his enemies, and was shown to be very vengeful; he held a bitter grudge against Satan for murdering his fellow archangels and also held immense contempt to Lucifer starting the War in Heaven, and swore to destroy Satan and Lucifer along with all who followed them. When in Purgatory with the hotel crew, Forti acknowledged that he could have left Purgatory at any point, being an archangel, but refused to leave until he erased Satan for good. He was merciless when confronting Satan and Lucifer personally, furiously wiping out droves of their underlings to get to them, and fought Lucifer with just as much ferocity during their confrontation. That said, he ultimately set aside his vengeful crusade to help to hotel crew escape Purgatory, calmly accepting that his fate was sealed and that he could not carry on with his revenge.

Appearance

Forti was a humanoid archangel who possessed pure white skin, shoulder-length, light blonde hair, and a beard. He had light blue eyes that often glowed an eerie yellow color whenever he utilized his supernatural powers. He was exceptionally tall standing at around 9 feet tall, far exceeding Alastor and even Angel Dust in terms of height, and had a burly and muscular build.

Forti had a halo that was wrapped around the top of his head, and wore a long, hooded, white cloak, a cream-colored tunic with golden embroidery, a golden belt around his waist with a golden clasp in the design of a lion's head, light brown gauntlets and boots, and beige-colored pants. As an archangel, he was capable of producing six massive wings from his back that he was also capable of hiding.

Powers and Abilities

When he was the head archangel, Forti was exponentially powerful, and was even regarded by the cherubs as the strongest of God's angels. His power was great enough for him to have been the only angel capable of battling Satan one-on-one during the War in Heaven, and ultimately defeated the Devil and its army by imprisoning them within Purgatory. His power was so great that he was one of the rare entities in the Universe comparable to Lucifer, and gave the fallen archangel a substantial fight even after he was weakened as a result of being poisoned by Satan.

Natural Powers

  • Angelic Power: Forti was born with dormant, yet unfathomable angelic and divine power, unlocking his full potential when he pulled Excalibur from its stone. Leo Lightheart outright called him the strongest of God's angels and Lucifer himself acknowledged Forti's power and skill, citing that the Archangel did possess the power to vanquish him, with Forti being one of the few factors that made the Prince question his plan to wage war against God. During the War in Heaven, he was the only Archangel that was capable of fighting Satan one on one, whilst the rest of his comrades were almost effortlessly slaughtered by the dark God. When Beelzebub, one of the most powerful demons in creation, attacked him Forti was able to effortlessly subdue the archdemon and nearly erased him. In the past, he defended Heaven from numerous threats and during the fight in Manco's prison dimension and he effortlessly wiped out droves of the Army of Darkness, which included beings that eclipsed the size of planets. Most impressive of all, Forti could rival Lucifer, who was the most powerful angel that ever existed. Only the top Archangels, such as Michael, Azrael and Lucifer, were capable of rivalling Forti.
    • Angelic Transformation: Forti possessed the ability to transform into a more traditional, eldritch angel form at will, and then effortlessly return to his standard form.
    • Aura: Forti possessed a sacred aura that defended him from external attacks, vaporized attacks from demonic beings, which rendered Forti utterly impervious to even the most powerful of demons. When Alastor (possessed and empowered by Satan at the time) attempted to attack Forti using shadow tentacles, the tentacles were instantly vaporized by the aura of Forti.
    • Blessing Inducement: Forti could use his holy powers to bless weapons or objects, allowing them to empower the user or smite demonic entities.
    • Cloudwalking: Forti could walk on clouds and even use them as a method of travel, treating them as if they were a solid surface.
    • Creation: As an archangel, Forti was amazingly skilled at creation magic, often using it to craft holy weapons for himself, as demonstrated by him forging a sword of pure light by solidifying photons during a time where he was not in possession of Excalibur.
    • Divinity: Formerly the head archangel, Forti was blessed with immense divine power that allowed him to permanently erase demonic beings and even angelic beings.
    • Ergokinesis: Forti could project streams or bolts of white and yellow concussive energy blasts from his hands and from the edges of his wings. While buying the hotel crew time to escape from Manco's prison dimension after they rescued the young angel, Forti projected yellow energy blasts that vaporized most of Satan's army when it struck them. Upon arriving in Satan's dimension to assist the hotel crew in saving Charlie, Forti blasted Lucifer with an energy blast that sent the blind-sided fallen archangel barreling into a wall. Moments later, when his powers were amplified by the reignited Excalibur, the archangel charged his legendary blade with an immense amount of energy and directed the immensely powerful projectile blast at Satan's entire army, vaporizing several planet-sized creatures leading the charge. The tremendous release of energy from the collision converted the mass of his projectile attack into a column of super-heated plasma that shredded and vaporized the rest of Satan's army instantaneously. The plasma remnants of Forti's blast continued forward at lightspeed, cracking open the walls of Satan's domain, which left even Lucifer utterly bewildered at the display of power.
      • Force-Field Generation: During his battle with Lucifer, Forti conjured a yellow energy barrier to protect himself from Lucifer's energy-based attacks. However, due to his power gradually decreasing as Satan's poisoning took effect, Forti was unable to hold the barrier, resulting in it collapsing and the blast colliding with Forti, sending him barreling into a wall.
    • Flight: Forti possessed a pair of six large wings which granted him the ability to fly up to speeds well beyond the speed of light, and allowed the archangel to levitate mid-air. His landings were capable of causing large eruptions, and left behind a crater in the ground when he landed in Satan's dimension. After being freed by the hotel crew, Forti flew at Alastor (under Satan's influence) with such astonishing speeds that the Radio Demon, despite his abilities being amplified by Satan, could not keep up with him. Even when Lucifer severed his bottom left wing during their fight, Forti was still capable of flying steadily.
    • Immortality: Having existed for billions of years, Forti possessed an infinitely long lifespan, and was almost impossible to kill without divine intervention. In addition, Forti was beyond the need for food, water, oxygen, or sleep to sustain himself; he went billions of years without any of these amenities while trapped within his agonizing prison. However, Forti could still be killed by high divine entities or archangel blades, the latter of which he ultimately used to end his own life.
      • Nigh-Invulnerability: As an archangel, Forti was blessed with invulnerability to almost every form of harm. Attacks from the dark entities within the Army of Darkness did very little, if any, damage to Forti, and while battling Satan, an exiled Light Beyond the Stars, with his fellow archangels, Forti was one of the only archangels who managed to survive the Devil's onslaught, and still possessed enough strength to keep fighting despite the Devil's attacks. While fighting Satan alongside Adina, Forti was struck with the energy of his own attack when the Devil converted his energy blast into a red wave of magic and sent it back in his, Adina's, and Charlie's directions, and he was only knocked back for a few seconds. However, the poisonous spikes conjured by Satan were capable of piercing Forti's skin due to their being conjured by Satan's divine power. During his battle with Lucifer in Purgatory, where Forti was gravely weakened as a result of Satan's poisoning slowly corrupting his mind and form, the head archangel still retained his incredible durability by withstanding many of Lucifer's attacks, such as the King of Hell kicking Forti through a ring of holy fire he conjured, blasting Forti with numerous energy blasts, and even severing one of his wings off, only for Forti to barely power through each attack, although the head archangel did ultimately succumb to his injuries as he could barely stand up as the poisoning spread throughout his body. Despite Forti's nigh-invulnerability, he was still vulnerable to entities of superior power or archangel weapons, as shown during his battle with Lucifer, notably when Lucifer severed one of Forti's six wings from his body, which caused Forti to yell in agony.
      • Regeneration: As a result of his angelic physiology, Forti possessed a powerful regenerative healing factor which enabled him to quickly regenerate from wounds, regardless of the severity. The scars that were on his body as a result of the scalding, magical chains placed on him by Satan in his prison disappeared shortly after Forti was freed, as his liberation enabled his healing factor to return. However, the archangel seemingly lost his healing factor after he was poisoned by a malevolent spike created by Satan, as his body failed to combat the poison, and as a result he did not regenerate from severing his infected arm, nor did he heal from his injuries and wounds sustained during his battle with Lucifer, and he did not regenerate from his self-inflicted wound.
    • Immunity to Possession: Forti was one of the two entities in all creation who was able to resist Satan's possession through sheer willpower after witnessing the Devil murdering his fellow archangels.
    • Photokinesis: As an archangel, Forti possessed an amazingly strong connection to light, and was a very proficient user of light manipulation. Shortly after his liberation, Forti used his wings to cast a holy light that exorcised Satan out of Alastor's vessel. Forti could also solidify light, as shown when he adopted a sword forged from solidified photons shortly after beginning his crusade to destroy Satan in Purgatory, although he later destroyed the sword out of guilt after Satan forced him to kill Adina with it.
    • Supernatural Stamina: Forti almost never seemed to grew tired, allowing him to fly and fight for extremely long periods of time, even within spaces. Forti's endurance was perhaps best shown in his grueling battle with Lucifer, even when weakened, missing an arm, all while simultaneously fighting Lucifer and Satan's poisoning, Forti was still able to fight Lucifer for several minutes on end, even managing to tag Lucifer several times with Excalibur, and kept fighting furiously against the King of Hell despite receiving multiple wounds in the process. However, Forti did begin to slow down at a certain point, and in the end was unable to even raise his sword, despite attempting to, as the poisoning had rendered him borderline immobile.
    • Self-Sustenance: Possessed an eternal stamina, Forti was capable of surviving in the harshest of environments without food, water, air, or sleep for indefinite periods of time, as evidenced during his imprisonment in Purgatory, where he spent billions of years in never-ending agony without suffering any long-term effect once he was freed.
    • Supernatural Speed: Forti's wings allowed him to travel or dash forward at amazingly fast speeds. Upon being freed from his prison, Forti flew at Alastor with such speed that the Radio Demon (despite being enhanced by Satan) could not keep up with him. During his crusade to defeat Satan in Purgatory, Forti was capable of traveling across Purgatory at speeds far beyond the speed of light to get to his locations.
    • Supernatural Strength: Forti was the physically strongest of the archangels, even surpassing the physical strength of Lucifer, who is one of the most powerful archangels in all of creation. Even before becoming God's most trusted and high-ranking servant, Forti displayed immeasurable feats of strength; he was the only angel, including the other archangels, who was capable of pulling Excalibur from the magical stone it was embedded it, which caused the seemingly unbreakable stone to shatter in the process. During his battle against Lucifer, Forti was able to push Lucifer, who himself possesses supernatural strength, back several times despite being weakened by Satan's poison. After using Excalibur to fatally stab himself, Forti broke the giant sword in half through sheer strength by driving his wrist down upon its blade.

External Powers

  • Spatial Manipulation: Forti's divine sword, Excalibur, granted him to ability to both tear and seal potentially massive holes in reality, most often creating doors leading to alternate dimensions. During the War in Heaven, Forti used Excalibur to cut a hole in space that was large enough to drag multiple planets, Satan, and millions of its followers, into the prison dimension of Purgatory. Shortly before his demise, he used Excalibur to cut a hole in reality big enough for Baxter's spaceship to fly through, creating a portal that led back to Hell. Forti could also seal these tears in reality by mending them together with the powers of his sword, which he used to close both tears in reality. During his fight with Lucifer, Forti also used Excalibur to cut in half a miniature black hole Lucifer was sent in his direction.

Abilities

  • Combat Mastery: When he was the leader of the archangels, Forti was one of the most powerful warriors of Heaven, and subsequently the Universe, with immense training and millennia worth of experience in swordsmanship and unarmed combat, which allowed him to fight off any and all external threats to Heaven and possibly train the other archangels in combat, effortlessly defeating hundreds of creatures of the Army of Darkness with little effort, and even giving Lucifer, the one of the strongest archangels in all creation, a substantial fight, though Lucifer had the upper hand in their battle. In fact, Forti was one of the few archangels to survive a direct battle against Satan, whereas most of his fellow archangels, who were legendary for being elite, god-like warriors, were easily massacred by the Devil.
  • Intimidation: Forti was widely feared by those who sought to threaten Heaven for his immense angelic power and the utter ruthlessness he displayed towards external threats. Even Lucifer, during his time in Heaven, was capable of acknowledging Forti's strength and skill, as the head archangel was one of the few factors that caused the former Prince of Heaven to experience a sense of reluctance while he was considering to usurp God's throne. Shortly after being taken by Satan, the Devil imprisoned Forti in a torturous, magical prison and left him in the vacant dimension of Limbo, knowing the extent of the threat Forti would pose towards Satan and its army if left unchecked.
  • Multilingualism: Forti was well-versed in angelic languages, in addition to human languages such as English.
  • Swordsmanship: As his favored weapon, Forti was masterfully skilled with angelic swords, particularly his own holy sword, Excalibur, managing to slaughter droves of the Army of Darkness typically using spin attacks, and fought against Lucifer with some difficulty, a master swordsman himself.

Weapons

  • Excalibur: Excalibur is a massive, almost unlimitedly powerful archangelic sword that was Forti's weapon of choice while defending Heaven or dealing with his foes. According to Heaven's scriptures, it is said that Excalibur magically appeared into existence, itself embedded into powerful stone. Following its appearance, God Himself proclaimed that whoever was capable of removing the sword would be worthy of protecting Heaven. None succeeded in removing the sword, with even the other archangels failing to remove the sword. That was until Forti, who was a typical Heavenborn at the time, successfully removed the sword from the stone, shattering the stone in the process, which earned him the position of God's champion, and the sword bestowed upon him the powers of an archangel. Excalibur is considered to be one of the most powerful weapons in the Universe and is enchanted so that it could only be broken by Forti himself, and he would be the only one capable of wielding its powers. The blade is capable of tearing the fabric of reality, opening massive holes and portals to other dimensions capable of dragging entire planets and entities of the size of planets, and is capable of absorbing divine energy and projecting it at Forti's target. Forti was also able to fuse Heaven's Light into Excalibur's blade to enhance the blade's already immense power, as displayed during his final confrontation with Satan in Purgatory. Being an archangelic sword, Excalibur is capable of truly slaying demons and angels like every other holy weapon and is also capable of severely injuring and destroying other archangels, something standard angel weapons are not capable of doing. Excalibur met its end when Forti broke the blade in half after using the sword to fatally wound himself, likely to prevent anyone from using its powers for evil. However, the remnants of Excalibur would later be recovered by Michael and the other Morningstar siblings on their mission to retrieve Forti's body. Michael took the sword to God Himself, who mended the blade and bestowed it to Michael.

Weaknesses

  • Archangelic Weaponry: While Forti was immune to virtually kind of weapon, including demonic and angelic weaponry, archangel weapons were capable of injuring or even erasing him. During his battle with Lucifer, Forti was cut and stabbed several times with Lucifer's archangelic sword, even lost a wing at one point, and he did not heal from the onslaught and displayed visible pain as a result. Ultimately, Forti would use Excalibur, his own archangelic sword, to claim his life.
  • Divine Intervention: Forti could be injured or possibly erased from the power of equal or superior divine entities. Satan's attacks were capable of stunning and harming him, and the poisonous spikes conjured by the Devil were able to pierce his skin and slowly cripple and poison him overtime, removing him of his healing factor and hindering his ability to fight. Later, Lucifer was able to harm Forti by burning him with holy fire, and injured the archangel with magical bolts of energy.

Relationship

Family

Lucifer Magne

Forti harbored an intense hatred for the King of Hell due to his betrayal of God and Heaven. This animosity was further fueled by the King's indirect role in the deaths of Forti's brothers, as he unleashed Satan upon Heaven. As a result, Forti made it his personal mission to annihilate both Lucifer and Satan, seeing them as a threat to the very fabric of the Universe. In return, Lucifer held a deep contempt for Forti, mocking him as a "lapdog" for his unwavering loyalty to God. Nevertheless, beneath this mutual disdain, there existed a begrudging respect between them. They recognized each other as formidable rivals in terms of power, a fact that neither could dismiss.

Forti's existence posed one of the few factors that made the King of Hell question his audacious plan to wage war against God. It demonstrated that the former Prince of Heaven possessed immense power, a realization that wasn't lost on Lucifer. While Forti found Lucifer to be "pathetic" in certain respects, the King's potential to overthrow God and his forces demanded Forti's utmost attention. He solemnly swore that if Charlie and her allies proved incapable of dealing with the King of Hell, he would take matters into his own hands, driven by a deep sense of responsibility and determination to protect the Universe.

In "We Can Be Heroes", Forti, after being out of commission for eight years as a result of being poisoned by Satan, aided the Happy Hotel crew in their mission to rescue Charlie from Satan's domain, leading to a one-on-one confrontation between Lucifer and Forti. Lucifer sadistically mocked Forti for killing Adina, ignoring Forti when he pointed out that Satan had poisoned and forced him into doing so, and Forti proclaimed his desire to kill Satan after he had dealt with Lucifer. Shortly after, Forti and Lucifer engaged each other in a vicious fight, with Forti utilizing his recently recreated sword, Excalibur, and Lucifer using his own conjured angelic blade. The archangels were initially evenly matched, but Forti became weaker as a result of both the poison within him and the injuries he sustained during the battle, including Lucifer severing one of his wings from his body. After Forti could barely lift his sword, Lucifer left the head archangel to be corrupted so he could witness Satan corrupting Charlie.

Charlie Magne

Charlie has a level of endearment towards Forti, she saw him as a father figure and at their first meeting, she was reduced to tears as he was the first one who genuinely expressed belief in her idea. Hearing it from an Archangel of all people gave Charlie resolve and hope for success, which was previously crushed by Azrael. Forti comforted and protected Charlie during their time in Purgatory. Saving her from Satan's clutches and even saving her from the Devil's corrupting spike. Overall Forti genuinely cared about and loved his niece, seeing great potential in her, even setting aside his vengeance to help her and the hotel crew escape Purgatory, before he sacrificed himself to save the Universe.

Archangel Michael

Little is known about Michael and Forti's relationship, Michael fought alongside him during the War In Heaven, saving him as he was getting overwhelmed by Lucifer and Satan's combined assault. After Forti's sacrifice, Michael succeeded him as the Head Archangel.

There appears to be a notable level of respect from Michael towards Forti. Evident by Michael's actions, such as embarking on a mission to Purgatory to recover his body and give it a proper burial. Michael also expressed solemn reverence while wielding Forti's legendary sword Excalibur, following his passing.

Enemies

Satan

"I am sorry about your brothers. Hehehehe-hahahaa!"
— Satan, mocking Forti over the deaths of his fallen archangels.

Satan is Forti's eternal archenemy. When Satan attacked Heaven, Forti rose against the Devil and, after a bloody and intense battle, sealed Satan and its followers in Purgatory using the power of his divine sword, which led to Satan developing an intense hatred of the archangel. Forti and Satan opposed each other for thousands of millenniums, with the archangel seemingly being the only force capable of stopping Satan, Lucifer, and the Army of Darkness. Due to Satan murdering his fellow archangels and brothers during its assault on Heaven, Forti made it his life's mission to put an end to the Devil in his siblings' names.

Even eons after the War in Heaven, there was still a profound and undying amount of hatred between the two; centuries of being imprisoned in Limbo left Forti with a desire for vengeance; he became even more determined to destroy Satan and its army for good, while Satan desired Forti's death and eternal suffering for preventing it from extinguishing all creation.

When Forti arrived to help Charlie and Adina in escaping Satan's dark dimension, the Devil inadvertently poisoned Forti after the archangel shielded Charlie from a poisonous spike. Deciding to improvise, Satan manipulated the poison within Forti to control him like a puppet, forcing the archangel to attack and then kill Adina against his will. This forced Forti to go into hiding to prevent himself from being completely corrupted by Satan and used as a weapon against the Universe. That was until Forti came out of his hiding eight years later after being informed by Angel Dust, Fergus, and Vaggie that Satan and Lucifer had captured Charlie and plotted to corrupt her soul, leading the archangel to retrieve his legendary weapon, Excalibur, and fight Satan and Lucifer personally. Confronting each other for the first time in eight years, Forti swore to satisfy his vengeance by killing the Devil once and for all, while Satan taunted Forti by saying that he would die screaming in agony, just as his fellow archangels did when Satan murdered them. After Forti stabbed himself fatally with Excalibur to ensure Satan would never be able to use him as a weapon, the Devil bitterly remarked its disappointment in the archangel, before angrily knocking the critically injured Forti into the darkness of its dimension, leaving the archangel to succumb to his injuries in total darkness, thus putting an end to Satan and Forti's long-running war with each other.

Quotes

Chapter 1

"Forti: Charlotte? (Charlie looks both ways in confusion, before slowly returning to what she was doing) Princess Charlotte?
Charlie: (Charlie looks both ways again before slowly looking over at Heaven's Light) Wait... Am I going crazy or... Are you... Talking?
Forti: If what you are referring to is Heaven's Light, no. But, I am utilizing it to communicate with you.
Charlie: (clearly confused) ...'Kaaaay... And, uh... (she leans in closer to Heaven's Light) Who- who are you?
Forti: I am Archangel Forti, but you may simply cite me as Forti if you wish.
Charlie: O.. Kaaay... W- wait... You're an archangel?! (she begins to feel lightheaded and stumbles) I.. Uh... Oh, shit, oh, shit, oh, shit!
Forti: Be not afraid. I wish you no harm or danger.
Charlie: (she recovers) Uh, no! I- I get that. It's just... My dad doesn't exactly, uh, like you guys. (she laughs sheepishly) If he found out we would talking, yeesh! I don't even want to know what he would do.
Forti: I am well aware of your father's contempt of me.
Charlie: (she laughs nervously again) Yeah... By the way, how do you know my name?
Forti: As an archangel, it is my duty to know the names of every soul dwelling in this realm, especially its sovereignty.
Charlie: ...Riiiight.
Forti: I have reached out to you as I wish to consult with you personally. Please consider my offer.
Charlie: ...Well, I guess it does feel a bit silly, talking like... This.
Forti: Place your hands upon Heaven's Light, that we may meet personally.
"
— Forti's first exchange with Charlie, before transporting her to Limbo.
"Charlie: Forti... What happened to you? I mean, how did you get... In there. And those chains... (she winces as she notices Forti's burn marks) They... Don't look comfortable.
Forti: This was my fate for protecting Heaven from your father. After he was banished to Hell, I was imprisoned and left to suffer in Limbo for my sacrifice. It is unfortunate, but I am willing to suffer far worse to protect my sacred home.
Charlie: Oh... Forti, I'm so sorry...
Forti: Do not be. No child should suffer for their parent's sin.
"
— Forti and Charlie after the latter witnessed Forti in his prison.
"Forti: God has sent Heaven's Light for a purpose; to aid you in your cause and, potentially, to gift you with what you desire.
Charlie: G- God...? So, wait... I know I'm gonna sound crazy for asking this, but... Do you think it’s possible to rehabilitate a sinner? Do you think they could ascend to Heaven?
Forti: Of course.
Charlie: (sighs) I had a feelin- (she blinks twice) H- Hold on... Y-you really mean it...? Because everyone- Everyone in Hell doesn't think it's will work! But you... You really think sinners can be absolved?
Forti: Indeed. All are worthy of redemption and can be absolved of their sins, but only if they strive to seek it.
Charlie: Oh, my gosh... (Charlie falls to her knees, her eyes welling up with tears)
Forti: Is there something troubling you, my child?
Charlie: N- No... I just... I can't believe this... (she holds Heaven's Light in her arms and hugs it tightly, crying with joy, before facing Forti) Oh, thank you... I'll treasure this, always.
"
— Forti reveals to Charlie that redemption is possible.
"You are so much more important than you perceive yourself to be. Whether or not your objectives flourish, your mission is most virtuous, and your heart is pure. As long as you remain on your path, you could change the course of the Universe. Never forget that, Charlotte. Until we meet again."
— Forti to Charlie, before returning her to Hell.

Chapter 2

"Forti: Beelzebub is evil incarnate! Apart from Lucifer, he is the Devil's most powerful and proud minion! He will do anything in his power to veer you and many others against me! I beg of you, do not yield to his deception.
Angel Dust: Ah, so he's a fuckin' asshole, right?
Forti: (rather confused) Yes... A fucking asshole.
"
— Forti to Angel Dust and Vaggie, regarding Beelzebub.

Chapter 3

"Charlotte! Take Manco and abscond as far away as possible!"
— Forti ordering Charlie and the hotel crew to escape Manco's prison.
"King of Gluttony, I've been made aware of the fables you have spread about me. You will pay for attempting to sway my allies against me!"
— Forti while confronting Beelzebub.
"Forti: Are those...
Satan: (through Manco's counterparts) Variants of the boy.
Forti: And you're puppeteering their corpses.
Satan: What else does it look like?
Forti: Just when I thought you could sink no lower! How could you murder such innocent and defenseless lifeforms?
Satan: It gets quite boring in this dimension. You of all entities would understand.
Forti: You will suffer for their agony, Devil.
Satan: Our confrontation will come soon, archangel, but only once my power has been restored. Continue your futile quest as you will.
"
— Forti and Satan confronting each other following the Happy Hotel crew's escape.
"Charlie: Forti, of all people in the Universe... Why does it want me?
Forti: As Adina said, the Devil desires to poison all that is virtuous and pure. Satan does not want those who seek it. It wants those who don't.
"
— Forti, warning Charlie of Satan's manipulative ways.
"To return to Heaven while the Devil and its servants are conspiring to extinguish all creation would be an act of cowardice. The walls of Purgatory are weakening. It is only a matter of time until the Devil breaks free from its cage, and at that moment, no past, present, or future... will survive. This could be our only chance to end this war once and for all. Purgatory has been lost, but we can still save the Universe. I ask you, help me exact retribution upon these beasts."
— Forti to Charlie.
"Adina... Oh, my child, please forgive me..."
— Forti pleading for Adina's forgiveness after being forced by Satan to kill her.
"Charlie: (choked up) I- It's okay, Forti.. I- I don't blame you. Y- You couldn't control yourself... She wouldn't blame you, either.
Forti: (composing himself) Controlled or not, I was the one who held that sword. (he faces Charlie) It is too dangerous for me to carry on. With this poison within me, I am a danger to all, including you. It will not be long until I am consumed from within. I must venture far away, to ensure the well-being of you and your allies. Charlotte, give me your word that you will preserve Heaven's Light, and protect the children from the Devil and Lucifer... No matter the cost.
Charlie: (emotional) I- I don't know if I can do this with you!
Forti: (he approaches Charlie and tenderly cups her hands) You are so much stronger and wiser than you believe you are. You are special, Charlotte. The light and children are most safe with you. (Charlie nods before crying into Forti's chest, and he slowly embraces her) Everything will be okay, my child... I swear it.
"
— Forti and Charlie's last conversation before going into self-exile following Adina's death.
"Satan: Forti... At last, you have returned.
Forti: Long have I waited for this moment. You may cower behind your minions, but no amount of them will stop me from abolishing you from existence! I will satiate my vengeance with your blood! (Forti summons his divine sword, Excalibur, and fuses Heaven's Light into it) Your vile existence in this universe ends now! Prepare to die, unholy devil!
Satan: You will scream like your brothers!
"
— Forti and Satan finally confront each other for the first time in eight years.
"Lucifer: Forti... It's nice to finally see you join the party! Better late than never.
Forti: You vile snake! You left me to rot within Limbo for centuries! You betrayed Heaven, and killed your kin!
Lucifer: (laughs heartily) You're still on about that? Come on, old man. That was ages ago. I always knew you were a slave to my Father, but now you're taking orders from my daughter? (laughs) How the mighty have fallen. Shouldn't you be off killing more warrior angels?
Forti: Adina's death was not my fault! Satan poisoned me!
Lucifer: It poisoned you, you shoved a sword through her heart, what does it matter really? (Lucifer laughs and takes notice of Forti's missing arm) I notice you've tried to slow the poisoning process. (giggles) You've merely delayed the inevitable! And it seems you're nearly out of time. Step aside and accept your transformation. You are clearly in no condition to fight, and I don't want to damage Satan's newest toy.
Forti: Enough of this! With the power of Excalibur, you will die now! And when I'm done with you, I will kill Satan.
Lucifer: Hmmm, this is interesting! Will Heaven's champion defeat me, or has he spent too long in the cage? (chuckles) Let's find out.
"
— Forti and Lucifer seconds before engaging each other in battle.
"Lucifer: (walking methodically around Forti, who is on his knees) You look tired, friend. Maybe you aren't suited for combat after all.
Forti: (he seems defenseless for a moment... until he flashes a grin at Lucifer) You stake your life on it? (taking advantage of Lucifer's arrogance, he suddenly turn around, clashing blades with the King of Hell; while their blades are locked, Forti knees Lucifer in the abdomen with enough force to send him into the air, before flying up and using his one arm to punch him down to the ground with enough force to leave a massive crater)
Lucifer: (when the dust clears, he crawls out of the crater, Looney Tunes-style) Ugh... Should've landed on my good neck...
"
— Lucifer, mocking Forti as the latter is progressively weakened by Satan's poisoning.
"Forti: (telepathically) Charlotte?
Charlie: Yes...?
Forti: I'm sorry I neglected to tell you about the trial.
Charlie: (laughs softly) Forti, that happened so long ago! What's with the apology?
Forti: I just wanted to tell you, because I will not be coming back from this.
Charlie: What...? (Forti flies in front of Baxter's spaceship, facing Satan and its army) Forti! No! Please don't! You can't...
Forti: I couldn't save the Universe... (he pulls Heaven's Light from Excalibur and teleports it to Charlie) ...But you can. (he uses Excalibur to cut a hole in space, creating a portal leading back to Hell) Farewell, Charlotte. I wish you only the best of luck.
"
— Forti's final goodbye to Charlie.
"YOU... WILL NOT... TAKE ME!!!"
— Forti before fatally stabbing himself with Excalibur to avoid becoming Satan's puppet.

Quotes about Forti

"All was good for a time, until a great war began against the Creator and His elect angels. An army of corrupt angels, led by the Dragon and the Devil, and so the great war ravaged the heavens. The Creator sent forth His champion, Archangel Forti, to evict the Devil and the Dragon, that old serpent, from our heavens. And so the Dragon fell along with those who followed him in exile, to walk and wander the physical plane, awaiting their final judgement. The war still rages on against the darkness. Us angels must fight on with might and valor to ensure the safety of the material universe, and the precious lives of all who inhabit it."
— A scripture in Heaven, detailing the war in Heaven.

Trivia

  • Forti's name in Latin translates to "mighty" and "strong".
  • Forti's character is based on Archangel Michael from Abrahamic religions, the archangel who serves as the leader of the heavenly hosts. In the New Testament of the Christian Bible, the Book of Revelation describes Archangel Michael as leading God's angels against an army of corrupted angels led by "the dragon", identified as the Devil or Satan (or the former angel, Lucifer), who Michael defeated and threw down to the Earth.
    • He and Michael are separate characters in the series, Forti sacrificed himself and trapped Satan in Purgatory, whilst Michael bested Lucifer.
  • So far, Forti and Azrael are the only members of the Morningstar family that Charlie has personally interacted with.
  • His theme song would be "Holding Out For A Hero" by Bonnie Taylor and Frou Frou.
