Holy Hell[]
In "Kill Them With Kindness", Heaven buzzes with excitement as news spreads of Gabriel’s brief return to showcase his remarkable inventions. Gabriel, who left Heaven long ago with his siblings, is coming back for a day to personally present his latest creations and make up for much lost time.
In Halo City, a grand assembly awaits, with even the Queen of Heaven, Asherah, and the Seraphim Sisters attending to witness Gabriel's arrival. The Archangel makes a spectacular entrance, flying through the skies as he high-fives winners and angels, while his entourage of seraphim sings an introduction, allowing Gabriel to indulge in an extended trumpet solo. He then addresses the crowd, apologizing profusely for his prolonged absence. The archangel remarks on how different Heaven looks, yet expresses gratitude that its inhabitants remain as bright and lovely as ever. As a golden, futuristic, spaceship-like hovercraft lands behind him, Gabriel invites the crowd to enter his workshop and enjoy his inventions for the day, allowing those in need to take ownership of all they require. Sounding his trumpet, Gabriel enthusiastically leads the audience, including Serenity - who is eager to meet him -, into the spaceship, which reveals itself to be much larger on the inside than it appears from the outside.
Amidst the gathering, Serenity finally meets Gabriel. She warmly greets Gabriel, expressing her excitement to meet him. Gabriel recognizes Serenity as one of the seraphim, mentioning how Seraphiel constantly praises her. Serenity shares her enthusiasm for her work, emphasizing her desire to help others and make a difference. However, their conversation takes a more grim turn when she reveals her concern about the Extermination. Gabriel acknowledges the Extermination as one of Michael's creations, but mentions rumors of its potential cancellation. Serenity affirms these rumors, but is worried that if they can't prove redemption as a viable alternative, Adina will be allowed to reinstate the cleanse. Gabriel humorously refers to Adina as being crazy and assures Serenity that he believes in redemption, noting that even sinners have the potential to change.
Serenity questions why they can't focus on reforming sinners instead of destroying them, expressing her belief that Heaven should be a place of love and second chances. Gabriel agrees, highlighting the importance of bright angels like Serenity who seek greater solutions. He admits the cleanse serves a purpose but stresses the need to fight for redemption. Serenity, moved by Gabriel's support, asks if Adina might ever understand their perspective. Gabriel doubts it, humorously describing Adina as irrational and unlikely to change. He encourages Serenity to pursue her dreams and not let people like Adina deter her, adding a playful note about avoiding dreams of world domination. Serenity giggles and thanks Gabriel, hugging him. Gabriel, initially surprised, warmly returns the hug, reaffirming his support.
Serenity then mentions Heaven's "prayer problem" to Gabriel, highlighting its potential severity. Gabriel acknowledges the issue but explains that managing Heaven's prayers is no longer his responsibility, as his loyalty now lies with his siblings and their duties. Donning a pair of eccentric goggles, Gabriel quickly sets to work on a parting gift for Serenity. He gathers a collection of seemingly random objects, dips them in gold liquid, and feeds them into a whimsical machine, which produces an item that Serenity describes as a baby rattle with a glowing rattle, though Gabriel optimistically chooses likens it to a wand. When Serenity asks what it does, Gabriel admits he has no clue, but suggests it might help her when she least expects it.
As evening falls, Gabriel then sings a song to Serenity, offering her wisdom and encouragement, drawing from his experiences as an archangel. He talks about his status as an archangel and his wisdom, but rather than brag about this, he uses this to reassure Serenity of her inner strength and intelligence, urging her to believe in herself even when facing the challenges ahead of her. He swoops her up, flying her through the skies as he emphasizes that her journey, with its wins and losses, is completely worthwhile. Touching down on Heaven's grounds, Gabriel concludes his number by encouraging Serenity to remember his words if she ever feels her own strength falter. He floats into the air and blows his trumpet one final time, vanishing in a bright flash of light, returning to his siblings.
Personality[]
- "The way I see it, humans have enough things they have to pay for. They have to spend their money just to survive. People suffering and dying from sicknesses. Being depressed. Being deprived of the joys in life from lost limbs. Living in poverty... I won't stand for it. I'm in a very privileged position and I have more than I need. I could make a profit, yes, but... I don't want to. I want it to be about their well-being and happiness, not me. Besides, there's something about seeing humans thrive that feels oh so good inside. I... love helping people. It makes me happy."
- — Gabriel.
Gabriel is an earnest, stubborn, compassionate, community-minded, loyal, charming, and down-to-earth cinnamon bun who values kindness, innovation, empathy, and the pursuit of justice and charity. He has a personality akin to a bubbly youth pastor or head-in-the-clouds theater kid, and founded Thrones Industries, which crafts fantastic inventions geared to help the sick and injured, making him exceptionally intelligent. He has a very hopeful demeanor, with a sense of idealism and unyielding optimism.
He has a calm confidence in his purpose and abilities, even in the face of jeers and adversity. He sees things such as music as a force for healing and restoration, and though some find him a bit odd, his sincerity and faith in his mission gives him a sense of purpose that transcends normal "human" concerns. Ultimately, he masterfully (but unintentionally) blends an angelic purity with a kind, charismatic presence that sets him apart from others.
He has a vibrant, enthusiastic, and compassionate personality and is nice to almost everyone. Exuding confidence and charisma, as seen in his introduction video for Thrones Industries, where he expresses excitement about creating a brighter future and helping both angels and humans. When discussing his success, he always expresses that it was his family and employees that got him where he is, not his skill at making inventions. He is clearly a passionate and dynamic genius, with a focus on innovation and improving lives. Gabriel is one who sees the bigger picture, rather than focusing on tiny details.
That said, he can easily get lost in the sauce while inventing and get quite carried away, typically resulting in his assistant, B.L.Y.T.H.E., having to rectify his errors, even if she has to sabotage them.
Gabriel is also very humorous and goofy, using playful banter, cheesy puns, and jokes to lighten the mood. He has the tendency to say exaggerated expressions before over-explaining what he meant, such as when inquiring Serenity about what was bothering her ("You tell me what's got your wings in a tangle, and I'll KILL IT! ... With kindness. Obviously."), and when he specifies that one should always follow they're dreams, unless it's an "uncool" and selfish one. He also has a sense of sarcasm, calling the Extermination one of Michael's "brilliant" ideas. Gabriel can come across as distracted, sometimes forgorting to bring his weapons with him into battle, which forces him to improvise weaponry in creative and eccentric ways on the spot.
Like most archangels, Gabriel LOVES combat and throwing himself into the heat of battle, so much so that he often forgors to bring his weaponry with him into battle. In battle, he exhibits a playful enthusiasm, embracing his holy abilities with both scientific precision and childlike glee, laughing and shouting random phrases mid-battle.
Furthermore, Gabriel is renowned for his benevolent leadership style towards the employees of Thrones Industries. Although his journey in managing the corporation initially posed challenges leading to periods of stress, he has since evolved into a seasoned and revered leader among his team. Gabriel's generosity knows no bounds as he showers his employees with rewards such as treats and unexpected days off simply in response to their cheers, a gesture born out of profound gratitude for their unwavering support. Under his guidance, work routines adopt a relaxed pace, commencing late and concluding early, allowing ample time for leisure activities. Despite this leniency, Gabriel's loyal employees often find themselves willingly attending work even during designated off-hours, a testament to their deep loyalty and admiration for their boss.
Moreover, Gabriel highly esteems input from all corners of Heaven, recognizing the worth of individuals, including those lower in the celestial hierarchy, like Serenity. He maintains a casual demeanor with those beneath him in rank, often cheerfully exchanging high-fives with winners and common angels.
While charitable, Gabriel also shows a great deal of sensitivity and modesty; he consciously avoids profanity at any expense. According to Saint Peter, there was one time when even saying "heck" brought him to tears, requiring him to be comforted from his colleagues.
Additionally, Gabriel seems to have a surprisingly rebellious streak, as evidenced by his willingness to challenge authority figures like Adina and his disdain for oppressive systems like the Extermination. He encourages Serenity to think independently and pursue her ideals, even if they diverge from the established norms. Unlike a lot of Heaven's leaders, Gabriel ignores logic for the sake of personal meaning much of the time; he tends to look at things from an empathetic point-of-view, rather than the "matter of fact" way. He also chooses to view Creation for what it could be, while also appreciating it for what it is.
Gabriel is obsessed with their prized trumpet, which their brothers and sister playfully tease them about. They are said to be very sensitive and express extreme devotion to their Father, God.
Appearance[]
Gabriel has an ethereal and androgynous appearance. He has porcelain skin with twin expansive wings which extend from his back, while his platinum locks and scelera shimmer with a celestial glow. His eyes are adorned with white pupils and halolike irises. A two-ringed halo hovers just above his head.
Adorned in attire befitting his celestial status, Gabriel dons a white gorget accented with silver embellishments, matching epaulettes, and fingerless gauntlets. His ensemble is completed by a white long-sleeved minidress, and metallic boots with silver trim and protective shin guards.

Though they have only met once, their bond was full of empathy, camaraderie, and a shared commitment to their ideals, making them allies in the pursuit of a more compassionate and just heavenly order.
Serenity's excitement and admiration for Gabriel are palpable in her enthusiastic greeting and admiration for his kindness. Gabriel reciprocates this warmth with genuine interest in Serenity's well-being, her dreams, and her concerns. Despite her being the youngest and lowest-ranking of the Seraphim family, Gabriel values her input and acknowledges her potential to bring about positive change, even within the constraints of their celestial hierarchy.
Gabriel and Serenity both have a shared belief in the importance of redemption and second chances, contrasting with the harsher approach advocated by figures like Adina. Gabriel's reassurance and encouragement validate Serenity's convictions, reinforcing her confidence in her beliefs and aspirations.
Quotes[]
Holy Hell[]
- "(He excitedly flies backwards towards his ship) Well, let's go, you beautiful souls! We have so much to time and too little do! (He blows his trumpet, but ends up crashing into the door, slowly sliding off; He gets up and dusts himself, chuckling) Oh. I must've brought the one ship without the flying detection. My bad, hehe."
- — Gabriel to Heaven's crowd.
- "(He sighs, hugging his trumpet) Oh, Cornelia. How I missed sharing your godly melody to the masses... (His tone darkens with each word) Y'know, don't tell anyone, but sometimes, I have these silly, wacky lil' dreams where I use you to herald a- I dunno- day of judgement, or some junk. Skies crashing, the worlds being uprooted, all because of humanity's unrepented sins... (He snorts, laughing) Thank God that's never gonna happen, right?!"
- — Gabriel to his magic, holy trumpet.
- "In Heaven, we accept everybody. But, like, if you, like, pray for forgiveness on your deathbed without having worked on improving your sins, you miiiiight get sent to the basement of Heaven where all the noisy laundry machines are... And sometimes, that can be a Hell in its own right."
- — Gabriel.
- "Winner: Do penguins see God?!
Gabriel: They do, and don't let your therapists tell you otherwise!!!" - — Gabriel encouraging a winner.
- "Winner: (A winner approaches Gabriel, holding up a picture of their deformed nephew) You got anything to help my ugly nephew?
Gabriel: (He briefly examines the photograph, before chuckling and wagging his finger) Ah, it matters not what he looks like on the inside, friend. What matters is the content of his character. And, by golly, with a face like that, he MUST have fallen from Heaven!!! Right?! ...Right...? (After a long pause, he groans, handing the winner a capsule; droning) Here's the God-Tier Beauty Boost. Go nuts." - — Gabriel and a winner.
- "Alright, gang. You can test out as many inventions as you want! Angelic surveillance, Virtue-Visions, you name it! I assure you, (Gabriel nonchalantly leans his right hand on a machine, a confident smile on his face) Everything has a safety seal of approval from my bro, Ra- (He intentionally slips his hand, which falls into the machine's insert slot; Heaven's denizens gasp and scream as he struggles to take his hand out; Gabriel chuckles) Don't worry, folk! H- Ho- Hold your horses! Let's not get outta... (He finally removes his hand, only to reveal it is gone) HAND!!!!! (The crowd screams and begins panicking; Gabriel dramatically puts the back of his hand to his head) Oh, why'd I have to go and let this happen again? And to my inventing hand, too! Ooooh, this is what we call a bummer! Such a drag... (Suddenly, Gabriel regenerates his hand, laughing and placating the crowd) Okay, guys, calm down. I'm not really hurt. Just a bit of- uh- tomfoolery. (Gabriel's assistants wheel the invention out) I test my inventions on myself. It's fun."
- — Gabriel around Heaven's denizens.
- "Gabriel: Huggie, show me what ya got!
Huggie: (they set a living teddy bear onto a table) I created the greatest thing ever... your own personal buddy that hugs you during times of need! Even when they aren't willing! Whether you lost a job, a love one, your dignity, this little guy will be here for you
Gabriel: Mmm, but Huggie. There's a thing called boundaries, bud. Your heart's in the right place, but... sometimes the solution to sadness isn't a hug, but just some time alone to process things.
Huggie: You're right, my archangel. (he sets another plushie on the table) That's why I made a Mark II that politely asks to hug the owner... before doing so anyway!
Gabriel: Well... A for effort, buddy." - — Gabriel overseeing new inventions.
- "Serenity: Oh, my goodness... (smiling brightly, she curtsies to Gabriel) Gabriel, hi!!!
Gabriel: Ah, you must be the radiant, Serenity! Seraphiel goes on and on and on about you! How goes it? (Gabriel smiles warmly and high-fives Serenity)
Serenity: (she squeals excitedly) I'm doing great! I just can't wait to get started with my work, you know? I want to help as many people as I can, and you know, do good. I feel like we've been really making a difference... but there's one thing that's bothering me.
Gabriel: And what's that, sweetie? You tell me what's got your wings in a tangle and I'll KILL IT! ... (he smiles) With kindness. Obviously.
Serenity: Well... you know about the Extermination, right?
Gabriel: (he nods solemnly) Yes, of course. (he looks out a window) That was one of Michael's 'brilliant' ideas. Though, I HAVE heard rumor of its cancellation.
Serenity: Well, yes! ...But if we can't prove that redemption is a good alternative to just destroying souls, Adina said she's gonna reinstate the cleanse!
Gabriel: Ah, I've heard of Adina. (he does the "cuckoo finger swirl" with a whistle before chuckling) Eh, don't tell her I did that. Let's just say she's made quite the reputation for herself.
Serenity: (she sighs) I don't know... But Gabriel, why does it have to be so awful? Why can't we all just try to reform them? Why can't we try to bring light to the sinners' spirits? People deserve second chances, third chances, fourth chances, even! I thought Heaven was supposed to be a safe place for love and light... I thought that was the whole idea...
Gabriel: (he puts both hands on Serenity's shoulders) What you are saying is true. And the fact that sinners are only given one chance bothers me as well... they have the potential to change their ways! I know there's a little bit of good inside sinners, even if they do drugs and have premarital sex! Sinners are people... no different than you, me, and our Father. The ugly truth is that the cleanse serves a purpose... But, in my opinion, that's why we need bright and beautiful angels like you who think outside the system and find greater solutions, such as redemption.
Serenity: (she smiles and wipes tears from her eyes) Thank you, Gabriel. That's so good to hear coming from you. But what about Adina... do you think one day, she'll understand that what we're doing is wrong? She never really gives me much of an answer... She only says that it's the "way of the Lord." Will I ever have it in me to convince her?
Gabriel: That, my dear, I doubt. Adina is what we call a few eggs short of an omelette. Off her rails... Batshit crazy. And if she genuinely thinks she's an example of what a 'pure' and 'holy' person should be like... then... I don't think there's any hope at all for her. Not at this point... But nevermind her. Redemption is something we have to fight for, (he flexes) and I say LET'S THROW DOWN!!! You have to focus on your dreams and hold them close, not let people like Adina stomp on them! ...Y'know, unless that dream is something uncool, like world domination or putting a paywall over a newspaper that doesn't even have funnies, which is ridic on it's own...
Serenity: (she giggles) Don't worry, Gabe, I knew what you meant. (she hesitates for a bit before hugging Gabriel) Thanks, Gabe. I really needed to hear this...
Gabriel: (he seems surprised at first, before smiling warmly and returning Serenity's hug) Any time, kiddo." - — Gabriel and Serenity.
