Cletus is a recurring character in Hazbin Hotel: Journey to the Light.
He is a baby-like cherub who served as a leading member of the C.H.E.R.U.B, being the self-appointed leader of his team, consisting of himself, Collin, and Keenie. However, he and his teammates were banished from both C.H.E.R.U.B and Heaven for indirectly causing the death of a human soul. Forced to illegally take refuge in Hell after their banishment, Cletus and his teammates were soon approached and recruited by the King of Hell, Lucifer Magne, as part of an assassination team he was enlisting to take out the hotel crew. After Blitzø and the rest of the I.M.P betrayed Lucifer to assist the Hazbin Hotel crew in stopping Leviathan from destroying Hell, they all joined the Hazbin Hotel crew in exchange of shelter from Lucifer. After the Hazbin Hotel's second reopening, Cletus and his teammates were hired as behavioral instructors, telling sinners how to behave properly once they are in Heaven.
Cletus and his teammates were eventually pardoned of their mistakes and accepted back into Heaven by Leo Lightheart, though the trio were demoted and compelled to work their way back to their original rank.

As to be expected from a cherub, Cletus is very virtuous, clean, and optimistic, seeing the good in all humans and portraying himself as an upstanding citizen of Heaven. However, while he presents himself as this, Cletus is shown to be rather infantile and easily angered when provoked, initiating a fight between C.H.E.R.U.B and I.M.P when the imps had proved to be nuisance to himself and his cohorts. In addition, he was very self-righteous about how good-natured he is; Blitzø even speculates that he does his job not out of a moral obligation, but simply to get points from God.
Cletus seems to be the kind of person who resorts to crying to get his way, as he almost always resort to crying excessively whenever punished or faced with danger; he burst into tears when he was banished from Heaven for indirectly killing Lyle Lipton, while his teammates at least took the news with some dignity, and he later cried at Lucifer's feet for mercy when the King of Hell had approached him, Collin, and Keenie.

Natural Powers[]
- Flight: Cletus can fly and hover through the air using a pair of wings on his back. He can zip through the air rather quickly, despite the small size of his wings.
- Weapon Summoning: Like his teammates, Cletus can instantly summon an angelic crossbow, as well as golden arrows to load it with. When fired from the crossbow, these arrows leave behind a visible trail of bright sparkling golden light, and when they strike a demonic target, are capable of melting the part of the body that it hits. To fallen angels like Fergus, however, they work like normal arrows and simply pierce the flesh without completely melting it.
- Immortality: Like all the other angels, Cletus' lifespan is indefinite and most likely doesn't require food, sleep, and oxygen.

Collin: (huddled close to Keenie and Cletus) Who- who's there?
Lucifer: Oh, just your new king and ruler for all of this eternity, that's all. But you may call me... (he appears behind them from the shadows) Lucifer. (he grins wickedly)
Collin: (he and the other cherubs turn around, gasp loudly, and back away fearfully) Oh, my g-g-g-g-gosh...
Keenie: The Fallen One...
Cletus: (on his knees at Lucifer's feet, tears streaming from his eyes like a waterfall) Please, please, please, please don't kill me! Please! I don't want to die! Oh, please don't kill me! Please don't! (continues blubbering)
Lucifer: (laughs) Oh, quit your wailing. I'm not here to harm you. Quite the opposite, in fact. Although I'm curious... What unspeakable act did you three doe-eyed little urchins do to end up down here?
Collin: We- We were just trying to stop some miserable old man from killing himself, and help him see the good he's done for humanity.
Keenie: And we would have gotten it done if those vile imps didn't get in our way!
Lucifer: Such a tragic tale. Tsk, tsk, tsk. The sad truth is that most angels in Heaven will eventually end up down here regardless of their loyalty.
Collin: W- Why?
Lucifer: 'Cuz no one is good enough for God, kid. The amount of souls down here who claimed to have followed that shitty book of His to the letter is astounding.
Keenie: (with tears in her eyes) We did everything He wanted... We loved humanity...
Cletus: We were upstanding citizens of Heaven...
Collin: Praised Him to high heavens...
Lucifer: And yet you were dropped like three pounds of shit for something that wasn't even your fault. (the cherubs look down, tears streaming down their faces) ...But don't fret. I am here to help you.
Collin: W- Wait, shouldn't you be t- t- t- t- ...Torturing us?
Lucifer: Child, you said a naughty word. There are rapists and murderers down here. The way I see it, you should be lavished for shuffling that piece of human filth from the mortal coil.
Collin: I- It's just...
Lucifer: I know. I know. Legends would have you believe I'm some sort of Machiavellian monster who eats babies, correct? But that's just baseless bullshit that the higher-ups have fed you and all the others. You'll find that, in reality, I'm a reasonable man. (he points up in the sky) The old man in the sky? He asks for nothing less than blind subservience and His own, fallacious idea of perfection. All I ask for is loyalty; for those who depend on me prove their worth and believe in me, and I will pay them back in kind.
Cletus: (he and the other cherubs share an uncertain look before turning to Lucifer) What- What can you do to help us?
Lucifer: Well, first, I have a little assignment for you three to complete. There's this little operation that has been a thorn in my side for quite a long time, and I need you lot to rid me of this nuisance. If you fulfill your mission, you will have your positions back in Heaven once I ascend to my rightful place. You grant me my wish, and I grant you yours. (grinning deviously) Deal?" - — Lucifer making a deal with Cletus, Collin, and Keenie.

Trivia[]
- He is C.H.E.R.U.B's foil to Blitzø; they are both the leaders of their respective groups, and tend to get easily frustrated whenever faced with problems or consequences. However, while Blitzø usually finds a way around it, Cletus reacts with petulant tantrums.
- Whenever Cletus cries, his tears stream out of his eyes like a geyser. He also thrashes around and makes wailing noises similar to that of an actual baby.
- Blitzø claims that Cletus is in a sexual relationship with both Collin and Keenie, though this could have simply been a joke at his expense.
- It is implied by Blitzø that Cletus wears diapers. Given how offended Cletus gets at this accusation, he's certainly suspect.
