- "Corey: HEAR YE, HEAR YE! I am Corey, His Majesty's most loyal servant... (sighs; unenthused) and this is my co-worker of sorts, Peel...
Peel: A little more enthusiasm, Corey?
Corey: What, you want me to do a fucking song and dance for you?!
Peel: Why, yes! I would love that, you vexatious little pissant!
Corey: (angry Corey noises) SILENCE! I AM ADDRESSING THE RABBLE! (faces the crowd) Don't be afraid, peasants! We bring a message from the king! We aren't here to harm you - at least not yet, though I can't claim for certain that King Lucifer won't want to torture you in the near future. He's just silly like that." - — Corey and Peel.
Corey and Peel are recurring antagonists-turned-supporting protagonists in Hazbin Hotel: Journey to the Light.
Created in the image of the forbidden fruit, Corey and Peel are a duo of smol apple angels who served as the abused chamberlains and highest-ranking servants of Lucifer and the royal Magne monarchy as a whole, announcing for the royal family, managing The Circus, enforcing Lucifer's will, and assisting him in all of his silly escapades. They were created by Lucifer to replace Razzle and Dazzle after the goat demons left Castle Magne to support Charlie with running the Hazbin Hotel.
After Lucifer had completely lost his drive and retired to Lu Lu World, Corey and Peel were kicked out of The Circus and effectively put out of a job, forced to fend for themselves in the streets of Hell. Fortunately for them, Charlie invited and allowed them to work at the Hazbin Hotel, ironically alongside Razzle and Dazzle, the very demons they were hired to replace.
Personalities
- "Peel: (he and Corey join them) Without Charlie... well, we'd still be livin' in the slums. Likely being eaten by some starving vagabond... (he puts a fist to his little chest) It'd be an honor to lay down my life for my princess.
Corey: And without Vaggie, I'd still be a sniveling coward... I'm not gonna lose my backbone after all she's done." - — Corey and Peel post-character development.
Corey and Peel are a chaotic and hapless pair, with Corey playing the hotheaded straight man to Peel's laid-back provocateur. Despite their distinct personalities, there are notable similarities between the two of them. Both exhibit sycophantic behavior toward Lucifer and Lilith, speaking of them in reverential tones, although their true loyalty is somewhat questionable.
Despite their goofiness, Core and Peel occasionally revel in sadistic and malicious tendencies of the more mischievous variety, delighting in torturing Lucifer's captives during their free moments. The prospect of the King of Hell inflicting pain excites them, forming a dark bonding point. They frequently engage in heated arguments and showcase cowardice, seemingly indifferent to each other's well-being. Their disputes often escalate to cartoonish brawls, competing for Lucifer's favor, as seen when they resorted to punches and kicks to be the ones to turn on a projector per Lucifer's directive. Despite their loud demeanor, their resilience has the fortitude of a marshmallow, and they found themselves treated like doormats, particularly by Lucifer.
Corey and Peel's bond deepened during Charlie's encounter with the Seraphim sisters and Metatron, the latter being the subject of a long-standing rivalry with Corey and Peel. As the meeting progressed, Corey and Peel found themselves unified against the Speaker of God, supporting each other instead of engaging in their usual bickering. Both harbored suspicions about Metatron's honesty, backing Charlie's assertions of redemption and faith in sinners. When Metatron confessed to fabricating messages and admitted his lack of communication with God, Corey and Peel couldn't contain their delight, even when Charlie and the Seraphim sisters were horrified and speechless at the bombshell. They exchanged high-fives and hugs, gleefully flipping off Metatron and reveling in their victory. Arm in arm, the ecstatic duo skipped joyfully out of the embassy as friends, even clicking their heels in excitement.
Corey
Corey is hotheaded, impulsive, and prone to emotional outbursts, often displaying a fragile ego and insecurity. He portrays himself as the responsible and composed member of the duo, making him out to be more intelligent than he actually is despite Peel constantly undermining him. Corey tends to get easily rattled and he is one who is rather easy to pity, displaying a penchant for meticulousness and becoming intimidated when attempting to assert authority. He's swift to yield and surrender in challenging situations. His profound fear of Lucifer's wrath and punishments has driven him to adopt abusive tendencies towards those beneath his rank, attempting to avoid disappointing the King of Hell.
Corey's interactions show a dependence on Peel, even though he tries to dominate their dynamic. Corey is also somewhat clumsy and defensive, often finding himself in ridiculous situations, such as falling out of a tree or getting flustered by Cerberus.
Corey has zero tolerance for what he deems as "slackers," often resorting to threatening them with outrageous punishments. To maintain a façade of competence, he compels the Castle Magne staff to photograph him organizing and "cleaning" the premises, aiming to flaunt this staged performance to Lucifer and others as proof of his managerial prowess, even though it's far from the truth.
In reality, Corey was initially an abysmal and utterly ineffective manager who neglected the castle's actual management and its associated problems. His typical day involved making announcements for Lucifer, asserting control over the staff, and indulging in Lucifer's exclusive apple cider, rather than attending to the castle's affairs.
Although Corey initially lacked strong managerial skills, he underwent a transformation under the guidance of Vaggie. She became his mentor and showed him how to develop assertiveness and leadership abilities, greatly boosting his confidence and competence in the process. This also led to him becoming very loyal to Vaggie.
Additionally, if any positive traits can be pointed out with Corey, it's his genuine loyalty to his superiors. He stayed with Lucifer despite years of abuse, and made the decision to stay at the hotel to defend Charlie and Vaggie even with the threat of the Exorcists - both to defend Charlie as his princess and the one who gave him a home and purpose, and Vaggie for teaching him how to assert himself.
Peel
In stark contrast to Corey's uptight demeanor, Peel exudes a laid-back and brash attitude, often showing little concern for his job unless directly overseen by Lucifer. He prioritizes personal indulgence, frequently engaging in his own hobbies, such as organizing his movie collection or casually enjoying a soak in a barrel of candy corn—instances that took place even as Corey faced off against Cerberus, the Magne family's pet. He also has a slightly cruder sense of humor than Corey.
He appears to revel in his perceived superiority, declaring himself an "alpha male" and frequently dismissing Corey's authority with crude humor. Peel also exhibits a playful, flirtatious nature, such as when he demands affection from Lilith or jokes about being put in her pocket, and mocking Corey's apparent desire to fuck him. Despite his carefree attitude, Peel isn't afraid to point out Corey's shortcomings, often doing so in a patronizing manner that adds to their comedic dynamic.
He possesses a notable sense of self-importance, unabashedly labeling himself an "alpha male" and priding himself on being a cultured individual and a connoisseur of classical and old films. Peel sees himself as the true leader in their partnership, often ridiculing Corey's managerial skills and engaging in playful mockery. His humor tends to be snide and cynical, relishing in making jokes at Corey's expense.
Appearance
Corey and Peel are two nearly identical apple angels who each stand at around one to two feet tall. They both have singular, large eyes that almost make up their entire bodies, apple stems on their heads with two leaves in the shape of devil-like horns, and have small, thin, black limbs with puffy white gloves. Their eyeballs are also their mouths, as they are capable of eating and drinking using their eyes.
Corey and Peel are very smol and are about the size of typical apples, so smol that any human-sized creature could hold them in their palm.
The superficial difference between them is that Corey's skin is a bright shade of red, whereas Peel has darker red skin.
Powers and Abilities
Natural Powers
- Angelic Powers: Despite not looking particularly formidable, Corey and Peel, as angels created from Lucifer's power, are shockingly extremely powerful, especially when fighting together. While not very competent fighters initially, they very briefly held their own against Stolas, until the Goetia demon used a gravity spell around them and the two were unable to communicate or work together, resulting in Stolas escaping. Later, after they became much closer on teamwork and fought in unison, they decimated an entire brigade of Exorcists during the War in Hell, fighting alongside Hell's army.
- Creation: Corey and Peel can magically conjure objects out of thin air, such as Corey producing a list of things Lucifer had ordered them to do.
- Ergokinesis: Corey and Peel are capable of flying around each other at lightning speed, creating a red vortex of energy that explodes when the two hurl it towards a target. They used this attack to decimate an Exorcist brigade in the War in Hell.
- Eye Beams: During the War in Hell, Corey and Peel were shown using eye beams on the Exterminators, firing white and yellow (respectively) energy beams from their pupils which instantly killed their targets.
- Flight: Both Corey and Peel are capable of flying and hovering in the air using a pair of small angel wings on their backs.
- Photokinesis: Corey and Peel can project a ray of light from their eyes that can illuminate their surroundings in dark settings.
- Regeneration: Corey and Peel have extremely powerful regenerative abilities. They were capable of healing back their forms seconds after Lucifer flung them into a wall with enough force to reduce them both into a paste.
Unique Powers
- Enhanced Speed (Peel only): Peel, as his name implies, can zip around at high speed and very quickly maneuver around obstacles with no apparent problems, appearing as a blur while doing so. During the War in Hell, Peel outran a blast of holy light sent by Lute, showing that he can move at even lightspeed.
Abilities
- Authority (formerly): Corey and Peel maintained a very high social ranking due to their positions as Lucifer's personal heralds, outranking the Overlords and even the Ars Goetia. They were valued enough by Lucifer to apparently go on diplomatic missions to Heaven, as Corey claims to have met the Speaker of God. They had the authority to have anyone who crossed them - or their creator - stripped of their position, tortured, or even executed. Despite their authority, Corey and Peel received very little genuine respect from others. Lucifer fired and kicked both of them out of the Castle Magne, effectively losing all of their authority and whatever power they had.
- Torture Mastery: Corey and Peel are experts of torture, and indulge in torturing Lucifer's prisoners, though their torture methods are marginally more juvenile and tame than Lucifer's, such as having prisoners suspended closely over a fire, jabbing them with sharp pikes, throwing prisoners in suspended cages and spinning them for minutes on end, and force-feeding them candy corn.
Relationships
Family
Lucifer Magne
Lucifer is Corey and Peel's king and creator. They were created by Lucifer to serve as replacements to Razzle and Dazzle after the two goats left Castle Magne with Charlie to assist the princess with her goals of redeeming sinners. Corey and Peel were extremely servile and asskissing towards Lucifer, addressing him by names such as "Right Ruler of Creation" and "Your Perfectness/Gorgeousness", carrying out any menial task he gave them, such as letting him stand on their backs while posing for portraits", fawning over his every move and treating his every word as if it was gospel. This was both out of loyalty and fear of the King of Hell, as he was very dismissive, ungrateful, and cruel towards them. He punished the two harshly for even minor slip-ups, tormented them for his amusement, and allowed them to be attacked and nearly eaten by the Magne family's pet Cerberus.
Despite Corey and Peel's service to him, Lucifer let go of Corey and Peel and kicked the two out of Castle Magne once he retired to Lu Lu World, leaving them to fend to themselves and remaining ungrateful to them to the very end.
Allies
Charlie Magne
Charlie is Corey and Peel's princess. Despite Charlie being the Princess of Hell and a member of the Magne family, Corey and Peel were very disrespectful towards her, likely the product of how Lucifer treats her. Charlie, however, is quite polite and nice to Corey and Peel, expressing sympathy for them when Lucifer kicked them out of Castle Magne and allowing the two to work and live at the Hazbin Hotel. This contributed to the apple angles starting a friendship with the Princess of Hell and currently setting all of their loyalty to her.
Charlie graciously permitted Corey and Peel to serve as chauffeurs and escorts for her and Vaggie at Hell's yearly Baphomet Ball. This gesture restored their sense of usefulness within the upper-class circles, a feeling they had lost after being dismissed by Lucifer.
Vaggie
Recognizing Corey's struggles to assert himself and his tendency to be overly accommodating to the hotel's guests, Vaggie felt compassion and decided to help. She assumed the role of a mentor, guiding Corey through a short journey of trial and error to teach him the art of assertiveness. Grateful for Vaggie's guidance, Corey successfully transformed into a more assertive individual, no longer allowing others to take advantage of him.
Corey and Peel were strongly affected by Vaggie's erasure, with Peel standing vigil and Corey finding himself unable to stop crying. Peel made a promise to Vaggie, wherever she was, to never lose his backbone and to keep standing up for himself.
Others
Lilith Magne
Lilith is Corey and Peel's queen. Their relationship with the Queen of Hell is far more positive than that of Lucifer's, as Lilith was shown giving Corey a pat on the head while he was tending to her and later encouraged her husband to go easy on them for their blunders. Corey is quite smitten with Lilith and often vies with Corey for her attention, leading to them fighting each other, despite Corey not even being interested in her due to his sexuality.
Metatron
Corey and Peel have a longstanding history and rivalry with Metatron from their diplomatic mission. Their relationship is characterized by a palpable animosity fueled by past grievances. Metatron takes pleasure in demeaning Corey and Peel for what he perceives as their incompetence and lack of authority, while they derive satisfaction from chipping away at Metatron's confidence with juvenile jibes and insinuations about Heaven's decline under his watch. Their dynamic is fraught with petty conflicts as they vie for dominance in the cosmic hierarchy.
During Charlie's meeting with Metatron, it did not take long for Corey and Peel to begin beefing with the Speaker of God, demeaning each other and hurling petty insults. The whole debate, initially about Charlie proving the merits of redemption, devolved into a clash of egos, with Corey and Peel challenging Metatron's leadership and highlighting supposed flaws within Heaven. Metatron retaliates by questioning their credibility, pointing out their dismissal by Lucifer and claiming Charlie accepted them out of pity and not because they have any real talents. The confrontation escalated into a flurry of insults and accusations, turning the diplomatic discourse into a trivial contest. When Serenity, Lux, and Charlie intervene, Corey and Peel manage to expose Metatron's deceit—he hasn't communicated with God in centuries and has been fabricating divine messages. Rather than feeling vindicated, they reveled in Metatron's downfall, celebrating with high-fives and flipping Metatron the bird.

Corey: It's not our fault! Cerberus bullied us!

Corey: Oh, no, I fed him - no thanks to Corey - but he went crazy and wanted us for seconds!
Lilith: (chuckles) Sorry, boys. You know Cerberus gets excited when he tastes blood. (she helps Peel out of the tree) Well done. (she pats him on the head, sets him down, and walks away as Corey tries to climb out of the tree, falling and face-planting on the ground)
Peel: My Queen! I also fed the Cerberus! Stroke me, as well! Hold me in your hands! PUT ME IN YOUR POCKET!!! (Peel looks at Corey with a surprised look) What can I say? I got a type." - — Lilith, Peel, and Corey after the Queen of Hell pacified the Cerberus.

Corey: THAT'S WHERE I SLEEP!!!!

- "What's up with the new visage? You get pinkeye or something?"
- — Peel asking Charlie about her new look.
- "Charlie: And Mr. Speaker... (she motions to Corey and Peel) This is Co-

Corey: Actually, Speaker of Fraud, she came to us, I'll have you know! Charlie, our glorious, bright, beautiful princess-
Charlie: Awww!
Corey: -is putting our talents to good use at the hotel until Lucifer is back in spirits!
Metatron Oh, shit! (he chuckles again; to Charlie) Good for you, Charlie! Your devotion to your hotel's namesake signifies diligence! These two certainly put the "has been" in Hazbin Hotel! (he laughs before looking down at Corey and Peel) Or perhaps not, considering you two were always the products of Lucifer's blasphemous attempts to imitate the Lord's power of creation.
Corey: (he stomps up to Metatron as Peel holds him back) How 'bout I take one of those rings of yours and use them as a dick ring?! HOW 'BOUT THAT!!
Metatron: (looking up distantly as Corey continues raving) You don't have a dick, dumbass. Good to know your intelligence is proportional to your vocabulary.
Charlie: (intervening) ANYWAY-" - — Corey and Peel confronting Metatron, the Speaker of God.
