"I know they treat me like crap... But... They're all I have right now. I know they can be mean and they think I'm annoying, but we're still all sisters-in-arms stuck in the worst part of Heaven, together. If we're all just indifferent or mean to each other, it just sucks. I... love them all, and- I dunno... I feel like they all just need someone to open up to. And I guess I wanna be that person... (her mask expression swaps to a "D:<" expression) Ah, shit, word vomit! (expression swaps to a "-_-", before becoming more somber) ...Don't tell them I said that, alright?"

Biography[]

Background[]

Not much is known about Ebony's past besides her at one point being a choir kid, and also being the daughter of an Exterminator who she brags had a body count of 120,000. In reality, Ebony's mother was a medic who not only healed Exterminators on the field, but also went out of her way to help demons who became injured, when the other Exterminators were not paying attention. Throughout her childhood, Ebony wanted to be an Exterminator herself so she could be out in the field alongside her mother, looking up to her as the woman that made it seem like being an Exterminator was a gift, rather than a curse. Before she could become of age, Ebony's mother would soon be murdered by Lute during one Extermination, who had gotten privy to her "Hellspawn sympathizing".

Ebony was eventually able to join the join the ranks of an Exterminator, being given a job of being a soldier and caring for the Heavenly Horses, even though she had wanted to be a medic like her mother before her. However, Ebony was only chosen to be an Exterminator as her father had begged Lute to let her join their ranks, and the cruel lieutenant had plans to dispose of Ebony as she saw no use in a compassionate soldier.

Events of Hazbin Hotel: Journey to the Light[]

Chapter 5[]

In "A Simple Scouting Mission", Ebony and a squadron of Exterminators are dispatched on a black-ops mission to the Pride Ring to retrieve a stash of angelic weapons obtained by a band of demons. Unbeknownst to the squadron, who had been told they were going on a simple "scouting mission", it is, in reality, a suicide mission and the Exterminators selected were ones that Lute had deemed to a liability or of no value.

While the ill-fated unit gears up for the mission in Haven, Ebony makes sure all the unit's horses are attended to, until she is called over by Raven, the unit's supervisor. Ebony meets Sable, the de-facto leader of the unit, who introduces herself warmly to Ebony, who is surprised by Sable's friendliness, since other soldiers have treated her harshly. Raven then rudely interrupts the conversation, dumping horse care supplies into Ebony's arms and providing an overwhelming list about Ebony's numerous duties related to horse care. By the time Raven is finished speaking, Ebony is confused and overwhelmed, her eyes swirly. Raven expresses frustrated confusion at Ebony's reaction, and Sable suggests that Raven should not overload her with information all at once, offering to help Ebony go over her schedule and duties more gradually. Ebony snaps out of it, appreciating the offer before asking for Sable's name again.

Before traveling to their designation, Ebony tries to get to know her sisters-in-arms better, only for them to give her the cold shoulder and send her out to do menial tasks on their behalf, like collecting firewood. While scouting, Ebony tries to cozy up to one Exterminator, Blade, by awkwardly trying to start a conversation with her or make her laugh with jokes, though all of her attempts fail. Blade ordered Ebony to clean their horses, to which the dejected Ebony left to do so. Ebony cares for the horses and finds comfort in the horses' reactions, feeling appreciated and understood by the.

Later, the team travels to Hell on horseback, using the cover of night to elude any prying demon eyes. However, the sun begins rising so they waiting for nightfall inside of a cave. There, Ebony confronts Blade about her harsh treatment of Snowy, Blade's mount, noting the whip marks and Snowy's skittish behavior. Blade pretends that she doesn't know Ebony, questioning her authority to comment. Ebony insists that Snowy, being a living creature with emotions, deserves better treatment. Blade sarcastically pretends to consider Ebony's point before rudely dismissing it with a loud burp. Frustrated, Ebony questions why Blade can't be nicer. Blade then aggressively backs Ebony into a corner, emphasizing the seriousness of their mission and threatening to cut her lips, face, and breasts off if she doesn't stop talking. Ebony, unfazed by Blade's oddly specific theats, asks if Blade is flirting, which Blade vehemently denies.

Once night falls, all of the Exterminators crowd around a fire and begin sharing stories of the demons they've slaughtered, all except for Ebony, who they tasked with cleaning their mounts, the Heavenly Horses. Ebony watches them from afar and discovers that they all have their own quirks and backstories, so once she is done maintaining the horses, she joins them in the fire, putting on a confident façade in order to impress them, bragging about her mother being a very experienced Exterminator who had a kill count of 120,000, before she passed away during one Extermination. The squadron continues bonding until most of them are asleep, and Ebony is keeping watch of the campsite alongside another Exterminator named Sable. Sable and Ebony have a heart-to-heart, with Sable telling Ebony that she knows her mother did not have a kill count that high and was, in reality, a medic. She tells Ebony that she does not have to act like someone else to impress them. Ebony tells Sable that all the other Exterminators back in Haven just find her "weird", but Sable comforts her by saying that their squadron are all weird, with their own quirks and flaws, and that she is not alone in feeling left out, which lifts Ebony's spirits.

The next night, Ebony excitedly livestreams about her upcoming mission in Hell on her Divinegram account, enthusiastically discussing her team's readiness. Ebony tries getting Blade to say hello to the stream, but she deadpan points out that all of the "people" on Ebony's stream are porn bots. After an awkward pause, Ebony suggests they should follow each other on Divinegram, to which Blade unironically threatens to murder Ebony after their mission.

Ebony and her sisters-in-arms proceeded to fly over to the location of the stashed holy arms, but while Sable is assigning positions, one of the Exterminators is sniped out of the air by an unseen sniping, sending the entire squadron flying down for cover. Ebony begins to get overwhelmed upon seeing one of them die, but Sable sternly ordered her sisters-in-arms to get into their positions, so Ebony follows her orders gets into her position, using the woods near the factory as cover. Ebony then peered around the greenery and gazed at their target; a factory that had been taken over by the Insurgency after they murdered the previous owners. Overwhelmed with the potential dangers, Ebony admits she doesn't like killing, frustrating nearly everyone. Blade is furious that Lute assigned an Exterminator who can't exterminate, but Sable compromises by telling Ebony to stay back with the horses. Before advancing with the team, Blade warns Ebony that she should have "[stayed] in her lane", flashing a sinister grin on her face.

Ebony stayed safe, hiding behind a large rock, and watched the other members of her squad stealthily make their way to the factory before going on an all-out assault on Insurgency. Only a few minutes into the battle, the squad of Exterminators began to die brutally by the Insurgency, realizing too late that Lute had intentionally ill-equipped them for their mission and thus they were unprepared for the Insurgency's angelic firepower. Watching her 'sisters' be killed, Ebony rushed into the battle, only to quickly cower in fear at the explosions and gunfire around her. She ducks under a row of tables in the factory's courtyard, desperately army-crawling amidst gunfire and explosions to get over to the Exorcists' position.

While Ebony was hiding under a ruined tank, Ebony becomes overwhelmed by the constant sounds of war around her and covers her head, trying to calm herself down by counting. During this, Ebony lifts her head to see Sable fighting several of the Insurgency's members by herself, so she rushed to her aid. While running to fight alongside Sable, a demon threw a holy grenade at Ebony's feet, forcing Sable to fly over and knock Ebony just barely out of the blast radius, causing her to be caught in the explosion. Alive but scuffed up, Ebony ran over to Sable's body, trying to make sure she was alive, but a squad of the Insurgency surround her with holy rifles, ready to mercilessly gun her down. Out of instinct, Ebony accidentally creates a flashbang attack with her light powers, causing the Insurgency's soldiers to become disoriented. After realizing what had happened, Ebony flew her out of the battle with Sable in her arms, leaving the Insurgency to brutally kill the rest of the injured squad as Izzi desired their heads as trophies.

After bringing her several meters away from the factory, Ebony lays the critically injured Sable down, begging her to keep fighting for life. Choking on blood and dying painfully, Sable begins pouring her heart out to Ebony, crying as she tells her that they are all disposable to their superiors, and begs her to escape from the life of an Exterminator while she still can. Ebony continues begging Sable to hang on, not realizing that she has already succumbed to her injures. Ebony breaks down in tears before seeing a squad of the Insurgency's soldiers running towards her. She tries to fly back to Heaven with Sable in her arms, but she is quickly hounded by the Insurgency's soldiers, who shoot at her, forcing her to reluctantly leave Sable's corpse behind. Using the darkness of the night as cover, Ebony retrieves the Heavenly Horses and rides off back to Heaven with them, breaking down in tears while hugging Sable's horse.

Ebony returns to Haven, defeated, disappointed in herself, and splattered in the blood of her own "sisters". Shortly after, she is confronted by Lute, who demands the whereabouts of her fellow squad members. Ebony is shell-shocked and can only tell Lute that she was too scared to help them, which causes the enraged Lute to lambast and brutally berate her, as well as demote her to cleaning duties and strip her of her rations. Ebony is then carried away by the Exterminators' medic and an old friend of her mother, Destiny, who tends to her injuries.

While in the infirmary, Ebony tells Destiny what Sable what had said about Exterminators being nothing to their superiors, to which Destiny harshly responds that Sable was correct. Ebony tells Destiny that even though Sable begged her to leave with her dying breath, she still wants to remain an Exterminator, not leave her "sisters" behind, and live up to her mother's memory. Destiny somberly presents Ebony with three options; leave their ranks and risk being executed for desertion; forfeit all her morals and become the deadly warrior everyone expects her to be; or be killed by demons during the cleanse. Destiny also gives Ebony a blunt reminder that the Exterminators are not her sisters, but rather her comrades. After fixing Ebony up, Destiny hands her a mop for her new position and leaves. Despondent with everything that had transpired, Ebony somberly leans her head to a wall, feeling lost.

In "What's Up, Heaven?", Ebony is called by Azrael and Lute while lugging around cleaning supplies. Dropping everything, Ebony reports to the archangel, who instructs her with taking Charlie's Angels - who have been recovered from Hell - to their residence in Heaven.

Left alone with the children, Ebony greets them nervously, clearing trying to get in their good graces. Despite the children hearing nothing but bad things about the Exorcists from Charlie, they warm up to each other easily and go for a walk; Ebony tells the children that being stuck in Hell had to of been a terrifying experience, only to become bemused when Giulia says that they had made many friends when they are in Hell. Giulia takes a special liking to Ebony, saying that it is cool she is a member of Heaven's military. Despite basically being a glorified janitor, the Exorcist goes along with Giulia, hesitantly assuring her that she has fought many wars and did many badass feats. Along the way, Ebony expresses her aspirations to be like her mother one day. When Manco brings the Extermination into topic, Ebony confides in the children her own doubts about the cleanse, to which the children mention the Hazbin Hotel and its goal of redeeming sinners. Ebony claims to already know about the hotel since Azrael enjoys making a mockery of it, forcing the Exterminators to sing songs disparaging it, and the propaganda posters in Haven depicting the hotel's destructions. Ebony says she does not think it will be successful, but is pleased that the Princess of Hell is not like what she expected.

Ebony takes the children to their new residence and promises to help them around in Heaven should they need it, since they have been away from Heaven for quite some time. Ebony says her goodbyes, only to get frustrated at herself for the length of her parting words. Megara sweetly assures Ebony that she is the best new angel they've met in Heaven, which nearly drives Ebony to tears before she leaves the children to adjust to their home.

In "Remember Who the Enemy Is", Ebony continues bonding with Charlie's Angels, Megara in particular. During this time, two general Exterminators interrupt their conversation and bully Ebony for not doing her job, furiously berating her to keep tending to the horses for the Extermination. As Ebony sadly brushes the horses, Megara comforts Ebony and says she should be treated better by her superiors. She reassures Ebony that she doesn't need to follow the path of an Exorcist solely to honor her mother's legacy, given her mother's history as a formidable demon hunter. This revelation prompts Ebony to introspect silently, recognizing the embellished tales she had associated with her mother, inadvertently portraying her medic mother in a negative light to others.

Later, Ebony discreetly watches Charlie's Angels and Azrael. She witnesses the children tell the archangel that they want to return to Hell, since Heaven is no longer the place it once was, which shocks her. Ebony watches Azrael beam the children back to Hell, and realizes that the beam of light leads into the Greed Ring, to her horror. Ebony tries to tell Lute that the children should have been sent to the Pride Ring and could be in danger, but Lute ignores Ebony as one Exterminator shoves Ebony into a mud puddle for disrupting Lute. As she lays in the mud puddle, Ebony slowly clenches her fist with a look of determination.

In "When We Do Wrong, No One Forgets", Charlie's Angels are quickly seized by Crimson's mafia, who hand them over to Mammon. Imprisoning the children, Mammon attempts to interrogate them, but a revelation takes his eyes off them as he abuses and berated his goons, Larson, Calliope, and Tingles. During this, Ebony pops up next to the children out of nowhere, startling them. Ebony tells the children to stay quiet and begins unshackling them. After freeing them, Ebony is spotted by one of Mammon's goons, alerting the King of Greed to her presence. An alarm is sounded as Mammon orders his goons to kill Ebony and capture the children. Ebony and the children pull off a daring and dynamic escape, evading the countless mercenaries and mobsters chasing them and flying out of the windows and into the Greed Sky.

After escaping Mammon, Ebony and Charlie's Angels all fly back down to the ground, coughing violently and gasping for air, Ebony quipping that flying through the Greed Ring's polluted sky was not a good idea. Arthur asked Ebony why she was in Hell, revealing that she had traveled down to Hell to help them get back to the hotel safely. This makes Amelia curious, and she asks if Ebony will get in trouble with her superiors for abandoning them, but Ebony says that they won't even know she's gone (comedically, all she has done is arranged her room to make it appear as if she's sleeping in her bed, using various items to create the illusion).

Wasting no time, Ebony and the kids arrive to the Hazbin Hotel. The children run inside and eagerly reunite with the hotel's staff, who are elated to see them, Charlie especially. After tightly hugging Manco, Charlie asks how they got back to the hotel, to which the children introduce Ebony to the crew, who sheepishly waves at them. Seeing an Exterminator, the sinners of the hotel run away in fear or brandish weapons, ready to kill Ebony. However, a wide-eyed Vaggie slowly approaches Ebony from the crowd, and the two exchange each other's name, revealing that they know each other, much to everyone's shock.

In "The Clock is Ticking", Ebony and Vaggie's encounter is filled with uncertainty, catching Charlie's attention as she inquired about their relationship. Ebony proceeded to reveal her prior meeting with Vaggie during a trip to Haven in her childhood.

During this nostalgic flashback, a young Ebony excitedly approached Vaggie, proudly showcasing a self-made mask resembling the Exorcists' own LED masks. Despite Vaggie's disquiet at the thought of little Ebony aspiring to be an Exorcist, she masked her unease and settled for praising Ebony's talents in mask-crafting. Their exchange was abruptly interrupted by Lute, who chastised Vaggie for being distracted by a child, grabbing Vaggie by the neck and shoving her into a wall in front of Ebony, ordering her to return to her duties before leaving. After the incident, Ebony lent a helping hand to the bruised Vaggie. Vaggie, touched by the concern, gently advised Ebony to consider a different career path, believing she deserved a better future than that of an Exorcist. This encounter left a lasting impression on the aspiring young Exorcist.

Despite her obligation to be in Haven, Ebony chooses to remain in Hell to have a heartfelt conversation with Vaggie, eager to understand the circumstances that led her to Hell. The two sat together in the hotel's library, where Vaggie bravely opens up to Ebony, recounting the tragic events of her human life. This included the harrowing experience of having to defend herself against her own abusive father, resulting in her killing him in self-defense, leading to her own arrest and suicide. Vaggie also revealed that Azrael only allowed her in Heaven on the condition that she become an Exorcist as penance for her sins.

As the conversation unfolds, Vaggie describes the nightmarish mistreatment and pervasive misogyny that plagued her and numerous other Exorcists, all inflicted by Azrael and Lute. Captivated by Vaggie's raw account, Ebony attentively listens, absorbing the depth of suffering Vaggie endured - including Lute taking her eye. Vaggie went on to disclose a near-brainwashing ordeal she suffered for her insubordination, revealing how close she came to being ensnared into absolute servitude under Azrael's influence before ultimately escaping and finding refuge in Hell with Charlie.

Ebony, shattered by the weight of Vaggie's painful history, expresses her sincere apologies for the suffering Vaggie endured. In response, Vaggie calmly articulates her hope that Ebony now comprehends the reasons behind her reluctance to see her become an Exorcist when she was a child. The scars of her own experiences have shaped Vaggie's perspective, leading her to caution Ebony against involvement with the Exorcists. Despite now seeing the truth about the Exorcists and their actions, Ebony clings to a glimmer of hope, believing in the possibility of saving them from Azrael's influence. Vaggie, however, holds a more pessimistic view, advocating for Ebony's safety by urging her to steer clear of the treacherous path. Their conversation concludes, and Vaggie and Ebony depart the library separately, unaware that Serenity and Leo Lightheart had been eavesdropping on their discussion, privy to the raw emotions and revelations exchanged within.

In "Extermination Day: Part 1", on the eve of Extermination Day, the hotel braces itself for the impending storm, preparing for the merciless cleanse that Azrael plans to unleash. Charlie remains resolute in her determination to convince Azrael to halt the catastrophic event, regardless of the means. Baxter and Sir Pentious reveal their creation to the assembled crew—"Anti-Exorcist" armor, a symbol of resistance crafted from salvaged Exterminator weaponry. Fergus further emphasizes their advantage of having Vaggie and Ebony, both former Exterminators, now standing on their side and able to help them combat the Exorcists' strategies.

Amidst the tension, Ebony, wielding her determination, offers to join Charlie and Vaggie in their confrontation with Azrael. However, Vaggie, motivated by protectiveness and concern, firmly insists that Ebony stay within the confines of the hotel. She understands the perilous consequences Ebony might face if she defies Lute or Azrael's authority. Their conversation is abruptly halted by the ominous tolling of the clocktower. In a chilling moment, Azrael makes her grand entrance into Hell, setting the stage for the annual cleanse with an electrifying rock performance. The Exterminators surge into Hell, commencing the terrifying ritual, leaving Vaggie and Ebony to watch in horror, their hearts heavy with the knowledge of the impending battle and the dire consequences it might entail.

In "Extermination Day: Part 3", Charlie and Vaggie approach Azrael in an attempt to sway him and the Exorcists with reason, but the archangel remains unmoved by their pleas. Standing by Charlie's side, Ebony appears along with Charlie's other allies, ready to defend Hell against the looming threat of another massacre. As tensions rise, the confrontation erupts into a full-blown conflict. Despite Ebony's commitment to pacifism, both she and Vaggie share crucial intelligence with Hell's army, offering strategic advantages against the Exorcists.

As the conflict dragged on, Hell's forces found themselves initially overwhelmed despite the strategic insights provided by Ebony and Vaggie. However, the tide began to turn with the unexpected arrival of Carmilla Carmine and her soldiers, wielding powerful angelic weaponry. Their entrance sparked a shift in momentum as they began systematically slaughtering the Exorcist ranks, bolstering Charlie and her allies in their struggle. Amidst the chaos, Ebony bore witness to the grim toll of the battle, watching helplessly as her former comrades fell from the sky, their corpses littering the battlefield.

It dawned on Ebony and Vaggie that Azrael was using the Exorcists as sacrificial pawns, shielding himself behind their futile efforts to ensure his own safety. The realization struck Ebony with horror; she couldn't bear the thought of her allies perishing in vain. While Vaggie tried to offer solace, arguing that confronting Azrael directly was imperative for a brighter future, Ebony refused to accept the brutal calculus of war. To her, the Exorcists weren't merely expendable soldiers but her sisters, and she couldn't standby as they were mercilessly slaughtered.

Driven by her unwavering resolve to protect her comrades, Ebony defiantly threw herself into the fray, with Manco following suit in unwavering support of her cause.

Ebony navigated the chaotic battlefield with unwavering courage, dodging attacks from both Exorcists who deemed her a traitor and demons who mistook her for an Exterminator. Knocked down by a holy missile, Ebony found herself cornered by a trio of Exorcists bent on her demise. Yet, Manco swiftly intervened, unleashing concussive blasts to scatter their assailants, allowing Ebony a fleeting chance to dash towards the Exorcists' ranks.

Arriving amidst her former allies, Ebony's plea for understanding was met with immediate hostility and aggression. Despite her earnest attempts to reason with them, Ebony faced rejection and hilariously over-the-top threats of violence, culminating in a brutal strike from Lute, who vowed to murder Ebony for her perceived betrayal. However, Manco and Charlie rallied to Ebony's defense, ready to defend her. Undeterred by the looming threat, Ebony rose defiantly, addressing the Exorcists as her "sisters," urging them to see beyond Azrael's manipulation. Though Azrael descended upon them and attempted to silence Ebony, passionately emphasizing her former teammates' self-worth beyond being pawns and toys for Azrael's amusement.

As the Exorcists showed hints of rebellion and listening to Ebony's pleas, Azrael's desperation reached new heights as he offered rewards such as a tampon to any Exorcist who would kill Ebony. Enraged, Lute moved to strike Ebony down, but Azrael, gripped by fear of losing control, stepped in himself and attempted to kill Ebony while her back was turned with a fatal blow from his guitar's concealed holy blade. However, Vaggie leaped forward, blocking Azrael's attack with her spear and saving Ebony's life, her eye ablaze with determination.

Witnessing Azrael's treachery, the Exorcists were overcome with shock and indignation, even those loyal to him, leading them to turn against their erstwhile leader. Lute's furious commands fell on deaf ears as one brave Exorcist stepped forward to shield Ebony, inspiring others to follow suit. Moved to tears by this display of unity and courage, Ebony's hope soared—only to be shattered when the Exorcists' LED masks began to malfunction, subjecting them to excruciating pain. Controlled by Azrael's electric guitar, they were compelled to continue fighting against their will, trapped in a nightmarish struggle for their own bodies and minds. Ebony was the only Exorcist spared from the mind control however, due to her unique mask being crafted by her own hands, distinct from those donned by her comrades in arms..

Lute, brimming with hostility, initially directed her lethal intent towards Ebony until Vaggie courageously interposed herself, resolute in her determination to protect her friend. With a smirk, Lute shifted her focus, using Vaggie as a grim demonstration of the fate awaiting Ebony for her perceived betrayal. Engaging in a furious duel, Vaggie and Lute clashed with such ferocity that the very environment around them trembled and crumbled. As the battle raged on, Ebony attempted to assist Vaggie whenever possible, but Lute's relentless assaults repeatedly brought Ebony to the brink of death. Despite Ebony's efforts, Lute proved to be a formidable adversary, her strikes calculated and deadly, leaving Ebony with little opportunity to provide meaningful aid to her beleaguered friend.

Ebony resolved to aid Manco and Squish in their mission to remove the Exorcists' masks, thereby freeing them from Azrael's control. As Lute poised to deliver a fatal blow to Vaggie, the newly liberated Exorcists rallied to her defense, launching a collective assault against Lute. Despite her formidable resistance and the demise of several Exorcists at her hands, Lute ultimately succumbed to the sheer numbers arrayed against her. In a desperate bid to salvage the situation, she managed to flee, signaling Azrael to order a retreat to Heaven.

Refusing to concede defeat, Azrael attempted to obliterate the Hazbin Hotel, only to have his plans thwarted when his guitar was destroyed in the process. Seizing the opportunity, Vaggie impaled Azrael with his own instrument, rendering him vulnerable enough for Lux to intervene and strip the archangel of his powers. Meanwhile, Ebony and the Exorcists struggled to contain Lute as she tried to defend Azrael, who faced a similar fate as she was deprived of her angelic abilities.

In the aftermath of the harrowing battle, Extermination Day is cancelled and Ebony finds herself hailed as a hero by the liberated Exorcists, who hoist her up in jubilation, finally acknowledging her valor in facing off against them, Azrael, and Lute. Amidst the cheers, they present her with tokens of camaraderie, including playful punches to the arm and even a necklace crafted from a demon's disemboweled digestive tract, eliciting a mix of gratitude and revulsion from Ebony.

Approaching her with words of admiration, Vaggie commends Ebony for her courageous and steadfast actions, urging her not to let anyone diminish her worth as merely a pawn or weapon. Overwhelmed with emotion, Ebony embraces Vaggie tightly, their bond strengthened by the trials they've faced together. As Ebony bids farewell to the Hazbin Hotel crew, she joins the Exorcists on their return to Heaven, their destination fraught with uncertainty. On the way back, Ebony makes an astute and comedic inquiry about what the Exorcists are going to do in the future.

Holy Hell[]

In "Exorcises in Redemption", Serenity and Saint Peter visit Haven, where they are quickly greeted by Ebony. Serenity is elated to see Ebony and gives her a hug, holding her hands and asking Ebony how things have been going in Haven. Ebony expresses concerns about the Exorcists' readiness to integrate into heavenly society despite their newfound freedom. Peter tries to reassure Ebony that they, as a trio, can help the Exorcists, but the trio's confidence wavered as they witnessed one Exorcist aggressively confronting and assaulting an ice cream vendor after they gave her the wrong ice cream flavor. Ebony, Serenity, and Peter watch the assault with their mouths agape.

Later, Serenity and Saint Peter assemble the Exorcists into a sanctum, including Ebony. Ebony offers support to Serenity and Saint Peter, nervously giving them a thumbs up even as the Exorcists curse at and boo them for tying to tame their violently urges ingrained into them by Azrael and Lute.

Eventually, Serenity and Peter realize that therapy is necessary to address the deep-seated psychological conditioning of the Exorcists. In a heartfelt exchange, Serenity, Ebony, and Peter challenge the Exorcists' beliefs, highlighting their inherent worth and advocating for change, reminding them of the good people they once were. Despite the Exorcists showing a willingness to change, the trio's hope is shattered when Metatron announces that the Exorcists have been called by their current leader, Adina, to return to Haven for training. The Exorcists excitedly cheer and fist-pump, excited to exterminate demons again; Serenity is enraged; Peter faints in defeat; and Ebony, exasperated, can only shout "oh, FUCK me!!!".

In "Everything You Know is Wrong", Tory urgently flies over to Ebony, looking terrified and exhausted. Ebony jokes about his terrified demeanor until she realizes how series he is being. After Ebony coaxes him, allowing him to hide in his shell if he feels safer that way, Tory reveals that Adina has been harvesting the prayers of tortured sinners, using the powers of their prayer to maintain control over Heaven. He also explains that royal guards are searching for him to silence him. Ebony, confused and worried, tries to calm Tory. However, Adina's drones appear, searching for Tory. Ebony tries to warn the turtle cherub, but he is too terrified to even leave his shell, so Ebony takes action to protect him, picking him up by his shell and using her own body to shield him from the drones' sensors, successfully avoiding detection.

After the drones leave, she reassures a trembling Tory that they are safe, at least for now. She takes him into the nearby horse stables to keep him safe, and comforts him as he nearly has a breakdown. After Tory's mind clears, he also tells Ebony that Serenity was banished to Purgatory, which he overheard while listening to Adina and Fitch. The two agree to stop Adina and Fitch's plot, starting with alerting St. Peter.

Ebony and Tory eventually rendezvous with Saint Peter, where Tory anxiously and incoherently recounts the entire ordeal, and Ebony has to explain it calmly. Though Peter seems skeptical of everything, he strongly believes that Serenity doesn't deserve to be in Purgatory, Peter resolves to orchestrate her liberation. After some persuasion from Ebony and Tory, Peter consents to their involvement in the plan.

Tory, Peter, and Ebony made their way to the Realm Travel Facility at C.H.E.R.U.B. Headquarters. Due to the staff at the headquarters' unwillingness to let them in, Peter disguises as a cherub delivery boy, claiming to be delivering "portal supplies." Despite his nerves, the disguise proved effective, allowing him to reach the portal room leading to Purgatory. Tory and Ebony concealed themselves in the cart Peter pushed, successfully infiltrating alongside him.

As Tory and Ebony emerged from the cart, they and Peter are startled by a cherub employee who calmly questioned their presence. Peter, hesitant but determined, admitted their mission. The cherub, with a suspicious demeanor, simply responded, "Okay." Tension hung heavy in the air until Peter moved to activate the portal. Suddenly, the cherub's eyes turned yellow, and they attacked Peter. Tory and Ebony, shocked, swiftly intervened, wrestling the possessed cherub away. As Tory and Ebony helped Peter to his feet, the trio found themselves surrounded by all the cherubs in the building, their eyes glowing yellow—a sign of Adina's possession.

As the trio stood together, the cherubs spoke with Adina's voice, urging loyalty to her as if she were gospel. To make things worse, Fitch, donning golden armor and wielding a trident, appeared from the crowd. Peter, shocked and betrayed, realized Adina's true role in recent events, and Tory, picking up on Peter's shock, incredulously asked Peter if he believed him at all, to which Peter just somberly apologized to Tory. Fitch butted in, laughing and telling Tory that Peter has a problem with putting faith in his "friends." Tory and Ebony expressed disbelief and defended Peter, while Fitch continued taunting Peter about his past unfaithfulness. Adina reveled in all the discord, mocking Peter's loyalty and suggesting he doesn't belong in Heaven. She challenged whether he had changed since he denied an "old friend," giving him the choice to be spared from Adina and Fitch's crusade as long as he denied Tory and Ebony.

Despite Adina's tempting offer, Peter remained steadfastly loyal to Tory and Ebony, refusing to betray them. Adina shrugged nonchalantly and authorized Fitch to execute them. Thinking quickly, Peter utilized his powers to create a blinding flash, instructing Tory and Ebony to shield their eyes. Seizing the opportunity, Peter dashed towards the portal, urging his friends to find safety and assuring them that they could handle the situation. Before he left through the portal, Tory and Ebony thanked Peter for not giving them up, to which he gave them a grin and nod. Thanks to Peter's diversionary tactic, Tory and Ebony managed to escape. However, their getaway was hindered when Fitch unleashed his dragon pets to pursue them.

In "For Heaven's Sake", Ebony and the Exorcists appear to help Serenity, St. Peter, and Tory battle Adina's artificial angelic army, with Ebony's sisters-in-arms slaughtering these artificial angels, refusing to be mere weapons as they were with Azrael.

At the end of the battle for Heaven, Ebony witnessed Tory's near-dead state after he took a lethal blow from Fitch for Serenity, covering her mouth in horror. Fortunately, Asherah would appear and revitalize Tory, ordaining him a guardian angel for his courage and near-complete lack of concern for his own life if it meant saving others.

Later, while celebrating Serenity's coronation, Ebony and many other angels witness Sir Pentious ascension into Heaven, her mouth agape and eyes wide.

Short Stories[]

In "You're Different", Ebony sneaks into the Exorcists' holding cells, carrying her weekly rations. She ensures no guards are nearby before looking into a sinner's cell and greeting him. The sinner, who appears malnourished and has only one eye, reacts with suspicion and hostility, assuming she's there to harm him further. Ebony clarifies that she's there to give him her rations, sliding the food under the door. The sinner is skeptical, accusing her of poisoning the food, but cautiously begins eating. He questions Ebony's motives, wondering how helping him benefits her, to which she responds that not all Exorcists are ruthless. The sinner, convinced there are no kind Exorcists, notices Ebony is different from her sisters-in-arms and doubts she's ever killed a demon. She admits she's not an active Exorcist, but a stable girl who prefers talking to others over violence.

The sinner, appreciating her kindness, advises her to leave before getting attached, predicting his imminent death. Ebony dismisses the idea of attachment, sharing that demons seemingly killed her mother, who was a medic who helped sinners in secret during the cleanse. The sinner, curious about her kindness despite her past, prompts Ebony to explain she doesn't hate sinners and believes no one should suffer from starvation.

The sinner warns her to harden her heart or risk a fate like her mother's. Ebony asserts her individuality, believing her mother would be proud of her actions. The sinner, admiring her spirit, expresses his support despite his bleak outlook. Ebony is touched and asks for his name, which he reveals as Slitz. They bond over shared acquaintances and humorous stories from past Exterminations, ending their conversation on a lighter, more friendly note as they laugh together.

Personality[]

"Can you believe this bullshit, girls? Lute stuck us with an Exterminator who CAN'T FUCKING EXTERMINATE!!!"
— Blade about Ebony.

Ebony is very outgoing, naïve, and somewhat socially awkward with big chaotic energy, making her stand out drastically from the other Exterminators. She very much wants to prove her worth as a way to honor her erased mother's memory, views all of the Exterminators as her "sisters", and is horrified by the thought of their sacrifices being in vain. With a bright, loud, and youthful tone of voice, she tries to be friends with everyone and tries to act as someone to lean on for the other soldiers, but has trouble connecting with them, who either ignore her, find her annoying due to her upbeat attitude, playfulness, inexperience, incompetence, or are just too grizzled to tolerate her.

Ebony is deeply compassionate, as shown by her giving her rations to the Exorcists' abused and starved demon captives, despite being given strict orders not to so much as pay them any mind and her only getting one pack of rations a week. She has a strong sense of right and wrong, choosing to help others because it aligns with her values, not because it benefits her directly. Additionally, despite being informed by her superiors that sinners murdered her mother, Ebony doesn't harbor hatred towards all sinners, though she doesn't easily trust them either. She acknowledges the complexities of their actions and chooses to help them regardless of her painful past.

She is full of habits and quirks which tends to bother the other Exterminators, such as moving her legs and rocking back and forth whenever she is sitting, feeling the constant need to move, or not fully paying attention to whatever people are telling her and saying "ok!" in response to every lengthy order she is given to pretend that she was listening. Ebony is also quite a chatterbox, with the tendency to unknowingly go on long tangents about subjects or her interests, which she usually beats herself up for when she realizes what she is doing. She is very unserious and is a bit of a girlfailure, but is willing to die for her fellow warriors, and is compassionate and friendly.

Ebony is one of the few Exterminators that debated the meaning of the Extermination, though she initially only did this in secret or with people she thought she can confide in. She had a lot of very understandable questions and doubts which, if anything, challenged a lot of her higher-ups' "ideas" and plans. Despite her questioning why redeemed sinners cannot be allowed into Heaven, Ebony consistently rides along with the Exterminators because she wants to impress them. She is optimistic and, initially, simple-minded with the philosophy of simply going with the flow; while many of the Exterminators seek to control and oppress, Ebony simply did whatever would allow her to stay out of their way. When one soldier in her squadron professes the existential crisis of erasing souls, Ebony zones out or doesn't really absorb anything they say, whether it be because of her ADD or because she simply tries not to think about that kind of stuff.

Ebony can occasionally show a more sassy and cheeky side, using humor and mockery to get what she wants. She often brushed off Blade's threats and even teased her by mimicking her husky voice right in front of her. Ebony can also be sly, cunning and a bit mischievous, playfully manipulating Blade into peeling an apple for her by sarcastically highlighting her knife skills to goad her into actions. Despite her compassion, Ebony shows a willingness to tease and provoke those who are unkind to her.

While typically optimistic, Ebony does have some level of self-awareness as she knows that Lute and the other Exterminators think lowly of her, which motivates her to impress them even more.

Ebony is an animal lover. She especially loves horses, tending to the Heavenly Horses ridden by the Exterminators, cleaning them, doting on them constantly, and talking and confiding to them as if they were people. She is disgusted by animal cruelty, hating the way certain Exterminators treat their horses, and called out Blade for being overly harsh to her mount. Shortly after the Insurgency slaughtered her squad, Ebony still went back to retrieve the Heavenly Horses, rather than immediately return to Heaven or leaving the horses behind as her orders dictated.

Ebony is a bit of a tech whiz and is very passionate about arts and crafts. She built and designed her own mask "from scratch". She acknowledges that, as an angel, she could build her own things using magic, but likes to build them by hand as a way to challenge herself, as it is more rewarding. She loves telling people every last detail of her contraptions, and can go one for hours about merely one device.

Ebony often tries to mask her true personality with a confident and overly charming one so she can better befriend people. One of her greatest fears is that her true self will never be enough for everyone, and that they will only brush her off as being "weird" and too much for them to tolerate. She also struggles with self-worth as she knows she is not nearly as skilled as her fellow warriors, but still desperately wants to help them. When her entire squadron who she managed to bond with was killed on their black-ops mission, she was devastated and even said that she wished she died in their place since they were far more capable and useful than her.

Initially committed to pacifism, Ebony's initial compliancy changed upon learning Azrael and Lute's cruel treatment of Vaggie, who Ebony had met in her youth. Despite facing hostility and rejection from her former allies, Ebony persisted in her efforts to reason with them, driven by her belief in their inherent worth beyond being wholly devoted "groupies" of Azrael. During the War in Hell, she refused to accept the brutal realities of war if it meant having to kill the Exorcists, showing her compassionate nature. Throughout the war, she displayed courage in the face of danger, risking her life to protect both her friends and her ideals. She navigated a chaotic battlefield with determination, even when facing overwhelming odds, to get to the Exorcists and reason with them.

Her bravery was further shown by her willingness to confront Lute and Azrael directly, even as he attempted to manipulate and control the Exorcists into killing her. Ebony's actions inspired unity among the Exorcists and ultimately led to them rebelling against their commanders. In the aftermath of the war, Ebony still retained a sense of humor, appreciating the friendship offered by her liberated comrades, even if they are unconventional. Her bond with Vaggie is particularly strong, forged through shared experiences and mutual admiration.

Ultimately, despite initially being passive and compliant, Ebony learned to embrace her own worth and stand up for what she believes in, even in the face of extreme danger.

Despite her compassion, even Ebony has her limits when it comes to really icky sinners. While discussing with her squad which specific sinners they planned to kill in the next purge, Ebony showed a strong disgust for Valentino, calling him "creepy" and believing that the Exorcists were slacking since he hadn't been exterminated, showing that she does believe that certain sinners are worthy of Extermination.

Appearance[]

Ebony has looks nearly identical to her fellow Exterminators, being a monochrome-colored angel with grey fur, two large wings, black, goat-like horns on her head, and a halo that sports a central gem and 3 smaller crystals on both sides. The only superficial difference between Ebony and the other Exterminators is that the eyes and mouth on her mask are a blue color (rather than the standard red or white), seemingly to denote her low rank.

Ebony's mask is very expressive and capable of changing emotions to match her own, such as smiling, frowning, or creating comical, swirly eyes and a squiggly mouth whenever she is confused. Every time her expression changes, her mask creates a glitch effect in between the change.

Powers and Abilities[]

Natural Powers[]

  • Angelic Power: Ebony is an angel and therefore a very powerful being, naturally, with her angelic power allowing her to potentially smite demonic entities with relative ease.
    • Flight: Ebony can fly quickly through the air using her large wings. She can also use her wings to hover, glide, or soften her landings.
    • Immortality: As an angel, Ebony possesses an indefinite lifespan, allowing her to effectively live forever unless she is killed with a angelic weapon. She is still a bit young by angel standards and had yet to stop aging.
      • Nigh-Invulnerability: TBA
    • Photokinesis: Ebony has a strong connection with light and can manipulate and shape it to her desires. While escaping the Insurgency's factory with the injured Sable, Ebony inadvertently created a flashbang that allowed her to temporarily escape from the dazed gang members.

Abilities[]

  • Combat Skills: As an Exterminator, Ebony should possess, at least, rudimentary combat abilities.
  • Craftsmanship: Ebony is passionate about arts and crafts, and greatly enjoys building many gizmos and contraptions. She built and designed her own mask, creating a near-perfect replica of the standard Exterminator mask. She learned how to build Exterminators masks from watching her mother tinker with and repair the damaged masks worn by the Exorcists.
  • Musical Talents: Ebony has very good singing abilities, having once been a choir kid.
  • Weapon Proficiency: Ebony possesses rudimentary prowess with various bladed weapons.

Equipment[]

  • Exorcist helmet: Like the other Exorcists, Ebony has a magical LED mask that is able to convey her emotions and move along with her actual faces. Her mask is different from the other Exorcists' mask, with more cartoonish facial expressions as well as lacking the link to Azrael's guitar, making it impossible for him to control her like the other Exorcists.
    • Omnidirectional Sensors: While showing her mask to Charlie's Angels, Ebony claimed that her mask has omnidirectional sensors. This was shown when her mask alerted her to Azrael's attempt to kill her from behind in the war in Hell.
    • X-Ray Vision: While showing off her mask to Charlie's Angels, Ebony claimed that her mask has X-ray vision, allowing her to see targets through solid surfaces.

Relationships[]

Allies[]

Sable[]

In the short time they knew each other, Sable was something of a big sister figure to Ebony and initially the only Exterminator she has managed to befriend. When Ebony attempted to impress the Exterminators by telling false stories about her mother, Sable saw through the ruse and told Ebony that she does not need to pretend to be someone else to impress them. She then comforted Ebony over insecurities, telling her that their whole squadron were all weird and that they weren't perfect and had their own quirks and flaws, and that she is not alone in feeling left out. They quickly became friends after this, with Sable dying to save Ebony from the Insurgency's assault and telling Ebony in her dying breath to escape the life of an Exterminator before she suffers an unfortunate fate. Sable's death affected Ebony greatly, who began to wish she had been killed in Sable's place. Ebony adopted Sable's horse, Aurora, following her death.

Blade[]

While on their missions together, Ebony and Blade were shown to be a highly contrasting, but oddly fun duo that play off of their differences. The two have very different personalities, Ebony being cheerful and empathetic while Blade is uncaring and ruthless. Ebony overall didn't seem to take Blade very seriously and was surprisingly not scared of her, even when Balde was threatening her. She attempted to befriend Blade, while the latter constantly rejected these efforts and countered it with her trademark aggression and threats, even hissing at Ebony when Sable was introducing her. Ebony has a habit of misinterpreting or brushing off Blade's threats with surprising nonchalance or witty remark.

Ebony tried to befriend Blade using humor and lighthearted banter, attempting to win Blade over with a series of knife-related jokes. Blade intensely disliked Ebony, seeing her as an insult to what the Exorcists stand for and viewing her attitude as a trivialization of their work.

Ebony strongly disproves of Blade's harsh and abusive treatment of her horse, Snowy. When Ebony confronted her on it, Blade threatened to cut Ebony's "pretty" lips, "pretty" face, and breasts off if she kept speaking with her. Humorously, Ebony misinterprets Blade’s violent threats as flirting, which Blade strongly denied.

Ebony sometimes enjoyed teasing and mocking Blade, using humor and sly remarks to push her buttons in a flippant and playful way, such as goading Blade into peeling an apple for her by sarcastically mocking her knife skills, providing Blade with an "opportunity" to prove her wrong while also giving Ebony what she wants.

Vaggie[]

When Ebony returned Charlie's Angels to the hotel, Vaggie approached Ebony amidst a crowd, revealing that they already knew each other. Ebony then recounted her childhood meeting during a trip to Haven, where when she was a child, aspiring to be an Exorcist, excitedly showed off her self-made mask to Vaggie. Despite Vaggie's reservations about Ebony's career choice, she masks her unease and resigns to praising Ebony's talents. However, their interaction was abruptly interrupted by Lute, who violently reprimanded Vaggie in front of Ebony. After witnessing Lute's aggression towards Vaggie, young Ebony, showing her compassion, extended a helping hand to the bruised Vaggie, asking if she was alright. Vaggie, appreciating Ebony's support and trying to make the situation not seem as bad as it was, lightly told young Ebony to consider a different path than an Exorcist, leaving a lasting impression on her.

After reuniting with Vaggie in her adulthood, - and despite her obligation to be in Haven - Ebony chose to remain in Hell to engage in a heartfelt conversation with Vaggie, seeking to understand her circumstances better. In the hotel's library, the two engaged in a long conversation, where Vaggie bravely opened up to Ebony about the traumatic events of her past, including defending herself against her abusive father and being manipulated by Azrael into Heaven. As Vaggie recounted her experiences of mistreatment from Lute and misogyny from Azrael within the Exorcists, Ebony listened attentively, empathizing with her suffering. Vaggie's revelations deeply impacted Ebony, who was left speechless for a moment before apologizing sincerely for the pain Vaggie endured. Vaggie, in turn, articulated her reluctance towards Ebony becoming an Exorcist, stemming from her own traumatic experiences and cautioning Ebony against involvement with the Exorcists, hoping for Ebony to understand why she said what she said.

Despite their differing perspectives on the possibility of reforming the Exorcists, Ebony clung on to hope, while Vaggie had a more pessimistic view, telling Ebony to avoid the Exorcists for her own safety.

Ebony and Vaggie's relationship further developed throughout the conflict with Azrael and the Exorcists, which quickly spiraled into a war. Initially, they both stood together with Charlie and other allies, attempting to reason with Azrael. As tensions escalate into full-blown conflict, Ebony and Vaggie - using their knowledge as Exorcists themselves - worked together to provide crucial intelligence about the Exorcists' tactics to Hell's forces, despite Ebony's commitment to pacifism.

Ebony's realization that Azrael was using the Exorcists as sacrificial pawns deeply affects her, leading her to defy her pacifist stance to protect her former comrades. Vaggie tried to offer support, telling Ebony that war in this scenario is a necessary consensus, even if it meant they had to kill the Exorcist army. However, Ebony defied Vaggie and remained resolute in her desire to protect her "sisters" among the Exorcists. Ebony ran into the battlefield to get to where the Exorcists' position was, to Vaggie's frustration.

Despite her frustration, Vaggie followed Ebony into the battlefield, determined to keep her safe as she appealed to the Exorcists. Vaggie saves Ebony's life from Azrael, using her spear to black Azrael's potentially fatal attack that was meant for Ebony.

In the aftermath of the battle, Vaggie expressed admiration for Ebony's courage and reaffirms her worth beyond being a pawn or weapon. Their bond deepens as they embraced, having faced the trials of war together.

Tory[]

Tory and Ebony have a little brother-big sister-type dynamic, and it is implied that they have known each other for some time.

When Tory, in a state of panic, confided in Ebony about he dangerous secret of Adina's deceit he discovered in the Heavenly Court, Ebony quickly shifted from lighthearted to serious, showing deep concern for his well-being. Despite her initial surprise and confusion, Ebony took immediate action to calm Tory and even protected him, risking her own life in the process, when she realized he was in danger.

Enemies[]

Lute[]

"Okay, okay, gotta focus. (with a ">_<" expression on her mask) Head in the game! I don't wanna upset Lieutenant Lute. I was lucky enough to be assigned to this mission (wobbling with a "o_o;;" expression) and she kiiinda scares the shit outta me, not gonna lie."
— Ebony.

Lute was Ebony's superior and commander. Ebony initially respected Lute as her superior - completely unaware that Lute was the killer of her mother -, but was also greatly intimidated by her. Ebony does seem to be aware of the fact that Lute dislikes her. Because of this, she tried to please her commander as best as she could and believed that she must win Lute over, which only lead to her falling victim to Lute's unrealistic expectations.

Ebony's once-glowing perception of Lute shattered upon discovering the depth of her cruelty, such as sending Ebony, along with several Exorcists, into a suicide mission while claiming it was a "scouting mission", aimed at purging the legion of its liabilities. Moreover, hearing about Lute and Azrael's ruthless and evil mistreatment of Vaggie added to her disillusionment.

Amidst the chaos of the War in Hell, Ebony opposed Lute and Azrael despite the former's brutal threats to make her die a painful death. Ebony was appalled by their tactics of sacrificing Exorcists as shields against the onslaught of Hell's forces. Her horror fueled her to spark a rebellion within the Exorcists ranks, rallying the other Exorcists against the genocidal duo. With a determined effort, Ebony provided crucial aid to Vaggie in confronting and ultimately defeating Lute, bringing about the downfall of her mother's killer.

Quotes[]

Chapter 5[]

"Raven: And then this girl... Ebony!
Ebony: (she is speaking to the Heavenly Horses until she looks over her shoulder at Raven) Oh! Coming! (she runs over, saluting)
Raven: D- Don't do that unless to a superior officer...
Sable: (she smiles at Ebony) It's good to meet you soldier. Name's Sable. (she extends her hand for a handshake)
Ebony: (she gasps, her mask flickering to a "X_X" expression as she whispers) a nice one.
Sable: Excuse me?
Ebony: Oh! S- sorry. Most of the other girls are just like 'Ebony, are you listening to me? Ebony! Did I say you could look in my general direction?!' Y'know. (she blows a raspberry and waves her hand) It's fine, though. It's okay, I guess... I- I'm used to it.
Sable: (she chuckles, lowering her hand despite Ebony not shaking it) Well, I know a thing or two about being looked down on.
Raven: (she suddenly drops a bag of horse care supplies into Ebony's arms; reading off her orders in a fast-paced manner) Alrighty, we need you to make sure the horses are well-fed, ensure the stirrups are in good condition, the saddles are properly fitted, make sure their hides are clean - matted fur reads to infection as you know -, give them adequate exercise and don't allow them to run off, groom their hooves every three hours without fail. Your work hours are 03:00 to 22:00. You were granted three first-aid kits from Destiny. Use them well for the preservation of our unit. If a rider perishes, leave the mount behind. If both the rider and their mount perishes, retrieve any holy weapons from the fallen, no matter the cost. Understood? (she and Sable both look at Ebony, who has a perplexed- swirly-eyed face) ... (to Sable) You see this shit?
Sable: (she sighs) I know...
Raven: What is that? Why does she do that?
Sable: (she puts her hands up) Just- Just... you can't drop all that crap on her at once. Or anyone, for that matter. Give her a chance to acclimate. (she looks over at Ebony, smiling) Uh, wanna go over your schedule and duties together, soldier?
Ebony: (she snaps out of it, shaking off the confusion) Oh, sure! ...Uh, I'm sorry, what was your name again?
"
— Ebony, Sable, and Raven.
"Ebony: Soooo... (laughs awkwardly) Blade, is it? Oh, I get it! 'Cause you like throwing knives, right? That's epic. Is that your actual name or is it, like, some fly shit or a badass codename? Y'know, unless your parents wanted your life to revolve around knives? Or is that what demons started calling you and you just went with it? 'Watch out! It's Blade!' Ha ha! That would be so killer! (Blade slowly turns to Ebony, staring at her for several seconds with a grim expression before going back to sharpening her blades; Ebony awkwardly puts her hands behind her back and darts her head) ...So, uh... Blade, I think you and me are gonna be besties! Y'know why? 'Cuz you're a cut above the rest! (laughs) Get it? Ok, ok... I'll cut to the chase. (continues snorting and laughing as Blade tries to ignore her) Are my dumb jokes cleaver enough for you? (she doubles over laughing, holding her stomach)
Blade: Everything's a joke to you, ain't it?
Ebony: (wiping her tears) W- What?
Blade: (she backs Ebony into a corner, holding a knife to her chin) This job, me, it's all a fucking joke is it, stable girl?
Ebony: H- Hey, I'm sorry, ok?! I was just trying to-
Blade: Make friends? While guess what, rookie? We're here to make demons die and make them beg for mercy. (she grabs Ebony by the collar and tosses her to the ground) Go do your job and clean the horses... Or I'll gut you from ass to nose.
"
— Ebony tries to befriend Blade.
"'Ebony, quit trying to contribute to heavenly society and clean the horses'! Pssh. Fine, Blade. I’m, like, the master of cleaning horses. Or is it mistress? Yikes. (to the Exterminator's mounts) Listen up, guys! And, uh, girls. Come get your bath. Come on, Snowy. (she notices whip marks on Blade's horse) Ugh... I can't believe Blade treats you like that... (while cleaning and brushing them) You guys don't mind me talking, right? (one of the horses shakes their mane) See? That's why I love you guys. You actually... Listen to me. Right, Belle? (Belle whinnies and taps her hoof) Ayyy, that's my girl!"
— Ebony while caring for the Heavenly Horses.
"Ebony: (Ebony approaches Blade, crossing her arms) You need to be nicer to Snowy, Blade. I saw those whip marks and the way she stumbles back when I try to pet her. Not cool.
Blade: (she doesn't break eye contact with her kunai) Who are you again?
Ebony: (she blinks) I'm... Ebony? The 'rookie stable girl'? We met earlier.
Blade: 'Stable girl'. Yeah, cool. And, uh, what exactly makes you think you're in any fucking place to tell me how to treat my mount?
Ebony: (she rubs her arm, still frowning) I just... Um... Don't you think you are being, like, really harsh on Snowy? Don't you think she gets upset when you're hurting her like that? She's not like not those ugly, metal, polluting things that humans ride around on. She's a living, thinking creature who has, y'know, emotions and feelings...? Like us. Aren't you supposed to, like, care for them the way they care for you? You know... Be considerate?
Blade: (Blade looks at Ebony, as if she is coming to a profound realization... until she burps loudly and continues sharpening her kunai) I dunno what that is.
Ebony: Okay, I get it. Like, you're this (deep voice) 'tough, badass, scary Exterminator'... (she sighs in frustration at Blade's behavior, making air quotation signs with her fingers; normal voice) It's just like... What's wrong with being nice?
Blade: (she suddenly leaps up from her seat, backing Ebony into a corner) What's fucking 'wrong' is that this isn't some goddamned playground. This isn't a fucking petting zoo. I'm here to kill demons. Got it? (she gets face-to-face with Ebony) And if you don't shut your fucking mouth, I'll cut your pretty little lips off, and then your pretty face. And if that doesn't shut you up... (she grabs Ebony by the collar) I'LL CUT YOUR FUCKING TITS OFF!!!
Ebony: (her mask has a "ಠ_ಠ" expression; she doesn't look especially scared) Are... are you flirting with me?
Blade: NO!!!!
"
— Blade and Ebony.
"Ebony: (as they are around a campfire, Ebony holds out an apple to Blade) Could ya peel this apple for me, Blade?
Blade: (Blade stops sharpening her kunais and gives Ebony a squinted glare) Do I look like a fucking servant to you? You can't peel a fucking apple yourself? (she goes back to sharpening her blades, aggressively scraping them against a whetstone)
Ebony: Oh, c'moooon! Hell apples probably have a million diseases on them. And, uh... I'm not really good with knives (mocking Blade) "rookie stable girl", (normal) remember? (while watching Blade, the expression on Ebony's LED mask morphs into a sly, cat grin - literally a "(≖⩊≖)") Whaaat, Blade? YOU can't peel an apple? (Blade looks at Ebony, incredulous) What kinda knife nut are you if you can't even peel a damn apple? You can flay twelve Chernabogs in a row, but God help you if you try to peel a tiny little apple!
Blade: (Blade's eye twitches) Gimme the stupid fuckin' thing.
Ebony: (Ebony smirks and tosses the apple to Blade) Have at it, Stabby Gurl.
Blade; (Blade goes to town aggressively peeling the apple, muttering and swearing about Ebony and the apple under her breath; after a moment, she tosses the peeled apple back at Ebony) There you fucking go, dumbass.
Ebony: (cheerfully) Thank youuuu!!!
"
— Ebony and Blade.
"That creepy-ass moth Overlord hasn't been exterminated yet? Eugh. We gotta stop slacking, girls..."
— Ebony while talking about sinners with her squad.
"Raven: When we exterminate a sinner, their soul is gone forever. Snuffed out... Left adrift in another plane where only their thoughts can provide them with any extent of comfort. Sometimes... I just think we, as Exorcists, don't truly acknowledge grasp the power we hold over the lives of our quarry... (she slowly looks up at Ebony, who is watching the sky) ...Ebony? ...Did you hear me?
Ebony: (she does a double-take) Whuh? Who now?
"
— Raven and Ebony while around a campfire.
"I'm only doing this for my mom, but I also feel like if we could somehow stop the conflict between angels and demons, she'd still be proud of me. Don't tell the others, but I remember that time Archangel Azrael and Lieutenant Lute met up with that wack demon princess, and I'm kiiinda starting to think maybe she was onto something. Like, for a place that's literally inside a paradise, Haven can be REALLY boring sometimes. C'mon, wouldn't it be awesome to not have to kill things, train, kill things, train, kill things, train, and just chill out with the other angels and redeemed souls again? Diversity is the spice of life! Am I talking too much?"
— Ebony to Sable.
"Ebony: (she is on her smartphone, livestreaming on Divinegram as she and her fellow Exorcists prepare to head out) Hey, guys! Mounts are ready so figured I'd give ya'll a quick update! I'm in Hell!!! (with a "(˵>ᗜ<˵) !!" expression) Aaaah, crazy shit, right? Ya gurl is doin' field work! Moving up in the ranks! Me and the girls are about to fuck so much shit up-
Sable: (passing by, amused) Scouting mission, soldier. No fucking shit up.
Ebony: (looking at Sable) Oh, right- (she looks back at her phone camera with a "T_T" expression) She's right, (back to a "^_^" face) but it's still gonna be so kickass, I promise! Speaking of cool... (she pulls Blade into frame and touches cheeks with her, who looks like she wants to die) Stabby Gurl herself! Say 'hi' to the people, Blade! (she stays silent with a ":D" expression, awaiting Blade's response)
Blade: You say 'hi' to the twelve porn bots that you're pretending are real?
Ebony: (with a "('⸝⸝𓏗 - 𓏗⸝⸝)" expression) Oh, is that what they are? Forget we're using Hell's internet now, hehe... (she keeps her cheek pressed against Blade's, awkward pause) ...Wanna follow each other?
Blade: I am LITERALLY going to murder you when this is over.
"
— Ebony livestreaming before the Exorcists ride out.
"Hey, hey, I get that you're all 'grrr, be silent but deadly' mode, but let's be real—me talking is kinda 50% of my thing. Lemme cope with this however I want."
— Ebony.
"Ebony; (she approaches Sable from behind, holding something behind her back) A-Ahem! (Sable turns to face Ebony, who has a grinning expression) Heeey, Sabe'! Soo, would I get a demerit if I told you I was thinking of making us neon friendship sweaters all last night?
Sable: (she has a raises eyebrow) ...Well, that would be extremely impractical to our mission, not to mention the amount of time it would take to forge such apparel in one night's time would mean you likely had no sleep last night, dampening your senses on a pivotal, black-ops mission... (Ebony just there with a "ˆᵕˆ" face; Sable sighs) You... already made them, didn't you?
Ebony: (she presents the friendship sweater to Blade; it's black, has neon patterns designed to look like blood, and Ebony and Sable's heads on it in chibi style, winking at each other periodically, like a neon billboard sign) Ta-daaa!!!
Sable: (Sable sighs, shaking her head... but smiles warmly at the gift) ...You are somethin' else, you know that?
Ebony: Heheheee! You liiiiike it? I thought our faces would look super cute on a sweater! (she looks at the sweaters sentimentally) I made it for you... We're friends, right? I... Never really had friends in the corps.
Sable: (she sighs, still staring at the sweaters) ...Of course, we're friends. Sisters-in-arms, remember?
Ebony: (she has a "(ಥ‿ಥ)" look on her mask, before letting out a squeal of joy with a "(T▽T)" face) Aaaah!!! FUCK YEAH!!! ...Well? C'mon! Try it on!
Sable: (playfully) Ehhh, you SURE it fits my style, though? (she checks her nails, "haughtily) I've been rockin' this 'stoic, badass, hot girl Exterminator shit' since I got promoted...
Ebony: (she rolls her eyes) Oh, c'mon!!
Sable: (she laughs) How about after we're done getting our shit back, cadet?
Ebony: Ooooh, riiiight. Right, right. But, but you swear to God we'll both wear it once we're done, right?!
Sable: (she giggles, crossing her heart before wrapping an arm around Ebony) ...Swear to God.
"
— Ebony shares a present with Sable.
"Ebony: (while she and her squad are peering over at demons from the bushes; Ebony thinks, a "(ᇂ_ᇂ)" expression as she scratches her chin; then, a lightbulb appears on her mask, as she has an idea) Hey, hey, guys. I have an idea...
Unnamed Exorcist: If it involves a musical distraction, you can shove it.
Ebony: (with a ""ಠ益ಠ" expression) Oh, c'mooon! (she crosses her arms with a bitter "( ¬‎ ࡇ,¬ )" expression on her mask) I was a choir kid, I still got the chops for it...
Raven: Ebony, shaddup.
"
— Ebony and her squad bantering.
"Sable: (while planning) And Ebony, we need you to dive their backline. Pick 'em off while they're distracted. Got it? (Ebony has a ";;⊙﹏⊙;;" expression, which Sable notes) ...Everything alright, Eb?
Blade: (groaning) Aaand she's fucking zoning out again.
Ebony: (she snaps out of it, shaking her head as her mask depicts a "(⊙_☉)?" expression) ME?! Zoning out? No, no! It's... Just... Um... (she fidgets with a "(。﹏。)" expression, the team sharing confused/disappointed glances) Hehe... So, funny thing... I- uh... I don't really... liiike... (shrugging with a "(ᵕ—ᴗ—)" expression) killing things all that much...
"
— Ebony confessing her unwillingness to kill to her unit.
"Lute: What happened to your unit?!
Ebony: I- I'm sorry, Captain. They- They came out of nowhere, and I g- I got scared. I'm sorry...
Lute: (she grabs Ebony by her collar and pins her to a wall by her head, holding her arm in a "pain grip" position) You were SCARED?! Excuses! This weakness is completely unacceptable! You were too much of a trembling coward to even help your sisters! Now they're dead because of YOU!
Ebony: I- I SAID I WAS SORRY!
Lute: Do anymore of your sisters need to die before you grow a pair and learn how to kill?! Is that what you want, Ebony?! ANSWER ME!
Ebony: (crying) NO! NO! STOP, PLEASE!
Lute: (she releases Ebony, who slumps to the ground; to a medic Exterminator) Destiny, get this worm out of my sight and put her on cleaning duties until she learns how to fight.
Destiny: Yes, Commander... (she helps Ebony to her feet)
Lute: (to Ebony) The cleanse is fast approaching, Ebony. If you don't learn how to fight by then, I'll hand you over to be violated and murdered by the Hellspawn myself. You are a disgrace to Archangel Azrael, your sisters, and your mother. No rations until further notice.
"
— Ebony is punished by Lute after returning from her suicide mission.
"Destiny: (she is patching up Ebony's arm, who is wincing and turning her head away, fighting back tears) Come on, dear...
Ebony: I let them down, Dest... (she rubs her face, tears streaming) You're not supposed to let family die! EVER!!!
Destiny: Eb... (she reluctantly strokes Ebony's hair to calm her down, before returning to her professional demeanor with a hushed tone) Come on. You can't be showing weakness around here.
Ebony: (she sniffles) I know... Destiny? When S- Sable died, she told me that we were all just expendable.
Destiny: (grimly) She is correct.
Ebony: (she sighs heavily; leaning up as she moves) But that's so SHITTY! (she winces) Fuck...
'Destiny: Stop. Moving. (she continues tending Ebony's arm)
Ebony: (she pouts) Even after this... I still wanna be with you guys. Like... I'm never gonna step up again, I promise... But I still wanna be there for all of you. You're my sisters. And, I dunno... I don't wanna just leave you guys... (she puts her head in her hands) Oh, God... What would Mom think of me?
Destiny: (she sighs) Eb, I'm gonna be straight with you. You have three paths ahead of you. You leave our ranks and be executed for desertion; throw aside any and all of your virtues and morals and become an Exterminator; ...or be left behind and killed by the Hellspawn.
Ebony: But... we're supposed to be-
Destiny: Exterminators. And nothing more. No one here is your 'sister'. We're all cold-blooded killers; born to maintain angel supremacy and the order of Archangel Azrael. It's all we're good for. May God help those of us who forget that. (she finishes patching Ebony up, putting her hands on her shoulders, sighing heavily) So much like you're mother... (Destiny looks sad, almost frustrated, she admires Ebony's compassion, but in this path of life it's only good for getting her killed) ...I'm sorry.
"
— Destiny caring for Ebony after the "scouting mission".
"Well, I don't just look after the horses. I care for them, you know? They're like my children. 'Cuz, like... I... don't... reeeeeally get along with the Exterminators... But they let me babysit these dudes. (Ebony strokes the mane of one pony, which nuzzles her hand affectionately in return; her expression shifts to "♡( ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ)") These guys actually are pretty neat. They listen to me. I'm, like, the horse whisperer. They love me in here."
— Ebony showing the Heavenly Horses to Charlie's Angels.
"Ebony: (Ebony is stargazing with Charlie's Angels, all of them kicking back on a rooftop) So, you kids wanna know any more awesome facts from Yours Truly?
Megara: Ummmmm... What's your favorite color?
Ebony: Well, I have a lot, really. Like, my favorite color is white- No, no, no, no, mint green! Wait, wait, nah. It's actually teal. No, cobalt blue! Uh... (Ebony's mask glitches to a ">.<;;" expression, before she shakes her head and composes herself) I guess I just really like colors. Wait, wait. Did I tell you guys my mask can change colors?
Arthur: (He and the other children look over at her) Shut up?
Ebony: No, really! (Ebony sits up and tinkers with the side of her mask as it flips between yellow, red, purple, green, and white before returning to blue; the kids look in amazement) I - uh - made it myself.
Manco: You really built your own mask?! That's really cool!
Simon: Are you a wizard?!
Ebony: (Ebony is smiling bright and wide, happy to finally have others who appreciate her talents) Thanks, dudes! I designed the color scheme myself. The mask can turn into all kinds of colors. (She speaks nostalgically, in deep thought) My mom would repair the Exorcists' masks when they would get broken from training or after a cleanse. And I'd would watch her fix them and sometimes she'd even let me fix the little things... It was really fun. (She snaps out of her nostalgia) Oh! And it has omnidirectional sensors and X-ray vision in the eyes and ears and stuff. It's basically like... An extra set of eyes? But no, yeah, I'm, like, a total tech whiz.
"
— Ebony showing Charlie's Angels her mask.
"Ebony: He's using them as shields! He's going to get them all killed!
Blitzø: (shouting at Ebony while fighting Exterminators) What was that you said, Tits?! Heaven's all about forgiveness?! OH YEAH, WE'RE REALLY DROWNING IN FORGIVENESS!!!
Ebony: I- I never wanted this! None of us did!!! (she begins panicking) M- m- maybe there's still time to talk things over, w- w- we can stop this...
Vaggie: Ebony! (she runs to Ebony before turning to Blitzø) Leave her alone and do your fucking job, CABRỎN DUENDES! (to Ebony) Sweetheart, listen to me... I know how hard it can be. But... Bigotry just can't be reasoned with. None of us want any of this, but sometimes... Sometimes you have to fight against monsters to make a better future... I'm sorry, hermana...
Fergus: (to Ebony) It's best you just stay by us, kid. Most demons'll try to kill you on sight if they see an Exterminator.
Ebony: NO! Archangel Azrael and Lieutenant Lute can burn... but those are MY sisters! I know they're not monsters! And I'm not going to let them be killed over a stupid, pointless war! (she begins running off)
Vaggie: EBONY!!! What are you doing?!
Ebony: Saving my sisters!
Vaggie: Are you loco?! They'll kill you!
Ebony: Is dying for love not the best way to go?! (she sprout her wings flies off)
Vaggie: EBONY, STOP!!! ...Goddammit!
Manco: (to Ebony) Ebony, wait!
Vaggie: (groans) Well, at least you're on my side...
Manco: I'M COMING WITH YOU! (he flies off next to Ebony)
Vaggie: OH, FUCK ME!!!
Fergus: (standing proudly while watching Ebony fly away) Well, diligence is a virtue. Gotta say, the angel side of me is shedding a tear. (sniffles and wipes away a tear) Ah shit, that's just me... GO GET 'EM, YOU GOLDEN GREMLIN!!!
"
— Vaggie to Ebony during the War in Hell.

Holy Hell[]

"Tory: EBONY!!! (Ge flies up to Ebony, panting and looking terrified.)
Ebony: (Surprised by him, she takes a pause from cleaning the horses, releasing it back into the nearby stable.) Huh... Hi, Tory. You okay? You look... Frazzled. Like you just saw a ghost, or something. (She giggles as Tory's eyes are bloodshot and sunken, he's sweating from his shell, trying to catch his breath. Ebony notices this and stops laughing, disturbed. She slowly walks over to him as the severity of the situation dawns on her.) Hey... you okay? Like, seriously...
Tory: (He speaks rapidly, causing Ebony to recoil.) IwasintheHeavenlyCourtandsawsomethingIREALLYshouldn'thave! There'sroyalgurdslookingformeRIGHTNOW!! (He retracts into his shell.)
Ebony: (Her mask switches to a "(𖦹 ﹏ 𖦹)" expression before she shakes her head, putting her hands up.) Whoa, whoa, whoa, slow down! (She gently grabs Tory by his shell to calm down down.) Y'know, for a turtle, you sure speak really fast. (She sighs, looking down into the slit of Tory's shell.) Like...What did you see?
Tory: (His large eyes pop out from the slit. He scans the area before whispering) Adina... She's been... Harvesting the prayers of tortured sinners...
Ebony: (Her eyes widen.) Oh, my God...
Tory: She's been using that power to keep Heaven under her control. I- I- I was eavesdropping... But they spotted me. (He's shaking in his turtle shell.) They sent the guards after me... I think they want to silence me... (He trembles violently in his shell, on the verge of hyperventilating.)
Ebony: (She blinks a few times and releases Tory, seeming to be processing this.) Damn, this is big... I mean, I called Adina being wacko, but... Silence you...? What do you mean they want to... Silence you? W-Why would they want to do that?
Tory: BECAUSE THEY DON'T WANT THIS NEWS GETTING OUT!!! (Tory hides in his shell to where his body isn't visible to Ebony, only his shaking shell. There is an unmistakable aura of dread going on.)
Ebony: T- Tory... The wouldn't wanna kill you, right? (Suddenly, Ebony sees two of Adina's drones in the horizon, scanning for Tory. A cold dread grips Ebony as her eyes widen) ...Oh, my God! (She glances at Tory.) We, uh... we have to hide! (Tory is just shaking in his shell, it's his only defense, after all. He's a sitting duck, overcome with fear. Ebony's eyes widen, panic rising as the drones make their way over to them. She grabs Tory by the shell, pulling him into a tight embrace and trying to hide his trembling body with her own to obscure the drone's scanners. Tension reaches its highest as the drone scans Ebony and Tory, Ebony hunching over to shield Tory, closing her eyes and holding his as closely as possible... Miraculously, it's enough for the scanners to not pick up on Tory. Both drones fly off into the sky, creating a small shockwave from their intense flight. Slowly opening her eyes, Ebony breathes a sigh of relief, breathing shakily. Still holding Tory, she whispers quietly.) W-We're okay, Tory... We're okay...
"
— Ebony protecting Tory after he uncovered a conspiracy.
"Saint Peter: Oh, crabapples... (he, Ebony, and Tory are surrounded by cherubs, possessed by Adina's magic)
Angels: (they all speak in Adina's voice) You will commit to Adina, or be treated no different than Hellspawn. Adina. Is... The Gospel.
Fitch: (he comes out from the crowd with his golden armor and trident, pushing the possessed out of his way) Enough with the self-glorification, Your Honor...
Angels: (still in Adina's voice) What? I'm right, aren't I?!
Saint Peter: Adina... You're... You're really behind all of this?
Adina: Oh, you didn't know?
Saint Peter: So... all those vows to protect Heaven, all those... THOUGHTFUL words you said to me... none of it was true? No... You... you wrote me a very nice birthday card!!!
Adina: (she giggles) Dearie, I am protecting Heaven. (shrugging) But, yes I might've told you some little white lies... And that birthday card? I had Fitch write it for me. Couldn't bother. (Saint Peter's jaw drops to the floor and he hangs his head)
Ebony: (she puts a hand on Peter's shoulder) That's rough, dude...
Tory: Wait a minute... (to Peter) You didn't believe us?!
Saint Peter: I... (sighs) I'm sorry, little guy.
Fitch: (he chuckles rhythmically with his mouth closed) Oh, come now. Peter here knows a thing or two about being... unfaithful.
Ebony: (she shields Tory) Don't you dare talk to him! Or Peter!
Fitch: Oh, you forgot, didn't you?
Adina: (through the angels, feigning being shocked) Oh, dear me! Such hostility! (the angels tilt their head demonically) What's the matter, Peter? Is Fitchie perhaps telling the truth? (to Ebony) Why so defensive, Ebony dearie?! Why the need for protection from one who would sell you out at a moments notice?
Ebony: Ha! Peter wouldn't EVER sell us out!
Adina: (she cackles evilly, wiping a tear) Oh, so naive, Ebony! Sweetheart, Saint Peter is more of a sinner than he looks! (she gives Peter a devious, hard look) But let's test that loyalty, shall we? Peter... will you give these two the same fealty you failed to give Him? Will you... DENY them, as you did Him?
Ebony: (everyone looks at Peter, who just has his head hung in shame) That...
Tory: That was a long time ago! Peter's grew since then! Why else would he be accepted into Heaven?!
Fitch: Leeching off His infinite kindness, I surmise.
Adina: (shares a head shake with Fitch) Once a sellout, always a sellout.
Fitch: (he stands beside the possessed angels) But deep down, he knows he doesn't belong here. No... (he aims his trident at Peter) He belongs on the head of a spear, like all. Sinners. DO.
"
— Peter, Ebony and Tory are surrounded by Adina's possessed victims.

???[]

"Peter: (she, Peter, and Tory run around in the underground of Heaven; dead end after dead end until they find one passageway into a small room; they instinctively run in) I think we're good here. Whew... Everyone alright?
Tory: Yeah.. but why does it feel... Too easy?
Adina: (her echoing laughter fills the room) C'mon, Tory, don't be so paranoid! This safe room was surely just sitting here waiting for you all to run in. Sometimes miracles just... happen! Not for you, of course, but for those who deserve them...
Ebony: (looking around with the other two) What the heaven are you talking about? You trick us into coming in here with some (she mimics projecting magic) dark, deceitful holy power or something?
Adina: Aaaand she's right!! All that prayer-siphoning's given this gal a boatload of new powers to play with!!! And you kids sure made this easy. And not just you three scamps, the whole angelic order! Delivering prayers, passing my legislations, and keeping the Extermination going for as long as you id... and all I had to do was smile and bang a gravel once in a while. Appreciate the heavy lifting!
Tory: So that’s your game?! You used us to get what you want?!
Adina: (bowing mockingly) Bingo. Anyhoo, I have some plotting to do with Fitch. Loose ends, gotta tie 'em! Oh, and one more thing... (a divine gate slams shut, sealing the gang inside the room)
Ebony: (she runs up and struggling against the bars) Fuck! Hey! (she pulls at the divine gate with all her might, jumping up and pressing her boots against the wall beside the door for extra strength, her mask making a ">.<" expression) LET US OUT OF HERE, YOU CRAZY WITCH!!
Adina: (she mystically appears on the other side of the bars, leaning forward and grinning through the gate) I'll leave you two in here, but don't worry! (Adina snaps her fingers, conjuring a ball in the center of the room, displaying Heaven's denizens going throughout their say) Because I'm just the bestest ever, I'll give you guys a front-row seat to Heaven's subjugation. Free of charge! Grab some snacks.
Peter: NO! ...You won't win! Heaven's impregnable!!! (laughing) And, moreover, you're MAD overdosing on crazy pills if you think you can break the will of Heaven's people!
Adina: ((she claps like a child) Oh, and the best part is gonna be figuring out what to do with you all! (musing, finger on her chin) Should I just fill the room with poisonous gas and call it a day...? Oh! Or maybe subject you all to some angelic mind control! (to Tory) Hey, Tory! You might be a guardian angel yet, buddy! My personal shield of justice!
Ebony: (she and Peter get defensive, both of them guarding Tory) Don't you dare speak to him.
Adina: Ah, who am I kidding? Toxic gas! Oldie but a goldie. (she mocking bows while praying) Aight, good luck, kiddos. (she vanishes in a bright flash of light)
"
"Ebony: No friggin' way... You're Lucifer?! What are you doing here?!
Lucifer: Hold my horses, you're an angel AND know your way around technology?! (he suddenly appears next to Ebony, wrapping an arm around her and speaking in a charmingly manipulative tone as she uncomfortably darts her eyes) So, my honey butter chicken biscuit, do you plan on falling by any chance? Also, are you the 'brilliant but lazy' type? 'Cuz there's this Sin I've been looking to replace.... Uh, what was his name again? 'Smell-my-s'more'?
"
— Ebony and Lucifer.

"Ebony: (She sneaks into the Exorcists' holding cells, holding a package of her rations; making sure no guards are nearby, see looks into the sliding window of a sinner's cell.) Um... Hey! (The sinner recoils upon seeing her, shielding himself. He looks like he hasn't eaten in days, or weeks.) Sorry! I- uh- didn't mean to scare you, but-
Sinner: Why the fuck are you here? Here to take me other eye for shits and giggles?
Ebony: Whaaat? No! I- Uh-
Sinner: Don't you DARE play innocent with me... I know you bloody Exorcists. Fuck off!
Ebony: Well, then you SHOULD know I just came here to, uh, give my rations for the week. (She kneels down, sliding her rations under the door) Bon appétit!
Sinner: (He wearily stares at the rations.) ...What 'ave you done with that? Didja sprinkle some star dust in it that'll make me vomit me brains out?!
Ebony: (Scoff-laughs.) Dude, I WISH we got star dust here up in Haven. Only Archangel Azrael can have that, though. ...C'mon, eat up! I know you're hungry...
Sinner: (he cautions crawls over to the rations, snatching them up and eating a piece; Pause; He snickers softly.) ...Why are ya doing this? You know the captured practice dummies like meself aren't allowed to eat. How does this benefit you at all?
Ebony: (Leaning against the bars.) Wow, you've either never encountered a nice Exorcist, or you're completely distrusting. How does it have to benefit me for me to do it?
Sinner: (While scarfing down food.) There ain't no "nice" Exorcists. They all relentless, cold-blooded killers. But you... You're different.
Ebony: (She tilts her head, sounding a bit annoyed.) What's that supposed to mean?
Sinner: You're riskin' yer tits just to give me a tiny bit of yer shitty food. The only food you get in a week. (He points at her using a carrot.) Hell, I bet ye never even... Erased a demon before. (He and Ebony make eye contact. Long pause. He scarfs the carrot noisily.) You're not like the rest of 'em.
Ebony: (She fidgets.) Well... I guess technically, I'm not an Exorcist, I'm a stable girl. And... I don't really wanna kill anyone, either. You need that food more than me, anyway. Usually I just try to talk to the girls in the mess hall, and I scrounge up whatever food they throw at me to get me to fuck off. (She laughs. The sinner even has the tiniest hint of a smile.) Pluuus, we ARE angels. We don't really need food, but we can still get hangry and all that jazz. ...Shit, am I talking too much again?
Sinner: (He shakes his head.) You're a marvel lil' lassie. I guess... It's nice to 'ave someone to speak to in this hellhole. (After finishing the rations, he sits back into a corner.) Now piss off, before you get attached to me. I won't be alive for long.
Ebony: Get 'attached'? (She rolls her eyes.) Please, dude, I could never. You're a demon. You guys would, like, rip out my jugular or something if I even remotely showed you an ounce of kindness.
Sinner: (He smirks.) And why's that? Touchy subject.
Ebony: (Aggressively.) Yeah, you could say that, dude. Sinners killed my mother. She was a medic. She tried to help any injured sinner she could find clinging to afterlife in the alleyways. But the ONE time she helps the wrong demon, (Voice breaking.) they fucking murdered her.
Sinner: (He scoffs.) Then why are ya helpin' me, if you hate sinners so blood much?
Ebony: I don't... (She cross her arms.) I don't hate sinners... A- And because I'm nice, dummy! And I don't think you should starve and suffer. Is that the answer you want? How's that for 'cold-blooded'?
Sinner: (He lays on the floor, looking up.) Heh. I like ye. But my advice? Get the fuck outta 'ere, or get more stone In your heart. Or you'll end up like yer mummy.
Ebony: (She sighs.) I'm not my mom. And I'll never be like her. But I know she's looking down at me, and I think... I know she's proud of me. Whatever's gonna happen, I'm doing things my way.
Sinner: (He chuckles, but almost in a manner as if he is admiring her.) Believe what you will, kid. Y'know... I ain't livin' long enough to see it... But I'm rootin' for ya. Give 'em 'ell, kid.
Ebony: (Her eyes widen.) Damn, really? I- I- I mean, right! Thanks, uhh... Wait, what's your name?
Sinner: ...Slitz.
Ebony: 'Slitz'... Y'know, in another afterlife, you coulda been friends with Blade. Ya know her?
Slitz: Oh, we're well acquainted, luv. Where do you think I lost me eye?
Ebony: Oooooh, shit. Yeah, sorry... (She thinks of something to try and make the situation lighter.) You know about when Blade got crushed under one of Stolas' trees?
Slitz: (He leans up, interested.) No fuckin' way...
Ebony: (She nods.) Oh, yeah! One Extermination, there was an imp hiding up in a tree outside the Goetia palace, and Blade, in her wisdom, tried to chop the tree down even when me and Sable tried to tell her the tree was alive. She didn't listen, cut the tree down, and it made itself fall on top of her. (She and Slitz both cackle together.) We spent, like, an hour trying to get it off of her!
Slitz: (He laughs, trying to hide it but failing.) Y'know, I got some funny Extermination day stories of me own...
Ebony: (She gasps, sitting criss-cross on the floor.) Really? Tell me, dude!!

Quotes Pertaining to Ebony[]

"Okay, Lutey, hear me out... Is it, like, totally twisted that I'm kinda, sorta hoping she bites it? I mean, no offense, my northern star, my bodacious Lutie beauty, but why'd you even let her in the band? She's totally lackin' that killer vibe we're all about! Completely unfuckable! I'm over here tryin' to mold a killer band of babes from unformed clay here and here comes you, handin' me... wet cement."
— Azrael about Ebony.

Trivia[]

  • Her character design was provided by Avi0301.
  • Her theme song would either be "Break the Ice" by Jingle Punks, or "Angel With a Shotgun" by The Cab.
  • She is an autistic-coded character and is strongly implied to have ADD, which is shown through several of her habits.
    • She rocks back and forth and fidgets when sitting down, feeling the constant need to move.
    • She tends to zone out when people are explaining something lengthy to her, saying affirmations afterward to pretend as if she was listening.
    • While executing orders, she tends to forget minute things - or generally forgets people's names - even if it was said to her moments before.
    • She feels the need to hide behind a confident and overly appealing personality that is much different than her actual one so that more people will accept her, otherwise known as "masking".
  • Ebony is one of two characters in the series confirmed to be autistic, the other being Vox.
  • Unlike most Exterminators, Ebony wears a blue-colored mask to denote her low rank.
    • Ebony's mask is not the same type of mask worn by the other Exterminators. Rather, it is a mask which she crafted herself, hence why it is blue-colored and looks much less menacing than the masks worn by the other Exterminators.
  • Ebony loves building things and is great at arts and crafts, hence how she was able to build her own functioning Exterminator mask, which she picked up from watching her mother repair the Exorcists' damaged masks.
  • Was a choir kid.
  • Her Divinegram username is "ebnythexterminator".
    • Her Divinegram bio reads "💀 exorcisin' and vibin' 😎".
  • Ebony was originally intended to die in "Extermination Day: Part 3" at the hands of Azrael. Mid-Chapter, the series' authors eventually agreed against it as they felt killing such a wholesome character felt too grim and mean-spirited.
