Magne is the surname of the royal family that rules over Hell. They consist of the patriarch and King of Hell, Lucifer Magne; the matriarch and Queen of Hell, Lilith Magne; and the Princess of Hell and daughter of Lucifer and Lilith, Charlie Magne. Their house is Castle Magne in the Pride Ring.
History
Lucifer adopted the last name "Magne" shortly after the War in Heaven, as he grew to despise his birth surname "Morningstar" as it was the name God bestowed on him. He primarily fancied "Magne" due to its meaning.
Lucifer crossed paths with Lilith following his fall from heaven. Initially, her encounter with the fallen angel sparked a profound connection, leading to a partnership that reshaped both their destinies. The two lifted each other up, sharing dreams of founding their own kingdom full of wonder, and aspirations of starting a family.
After they established Hell, Lucifer began touring with his Seven Deadly Sins circus troupe, while Lilith used her songs to inspire hope in Hell's denizens. They ruled over their kingdom happily, until, tragedy would strike; each child they conceived met a grim fate of stillbirth. Despite their anguish, the couple persevered, driven by hope for a living offspring. Their perseverance is rewarded with the birth of Charlotte, a living child cherished as the symbol of their enduring love and pride.
However, Lilith's joy was short-lived; her past caught up with her in the form of the Root of Evil, the one who gave her life and form. Evil revealed that it inflicted a curse upon Lilith, condemning all her offspring with Lucifer to be born lifeless, though it allowed Charlotte to live as a spark of hope that could be easily snuffed out should Lilith refuse its deal; to her music not to inspire hope, but to sow chaos and malevolence to empower Evil. In a bid to save her child, Lilith agreed to Evil's offer. Though this resulted in Hell's downward spiral, turning it into a realm of sin and evilness, Charlotte continued to live.
Despite her diminished spirit, Lilith persists in her performances, driven solely by the imperative of her daughter's safety. She becomes fiercely protective of Charlotte, shielding her from the brutal realities of Hell, including the annual Extermination event.
However, as Charlotte grew and assumed control of the Happy Hotel, a divide forms between mother and daughter. Lilith struggles to connect with her daughter amidst her busy schedule, which strains their relationship further. This emotional strain exacerbates the growing distance between them, leaving Lilith grappling with her daughter's goals and her own duties as queen of Hell.
The Magne family resided in the massive kingdom of the Pride Ring, where Charlie was barred for most of her upbringing to venture beyond the walls unless it was for family visits or vacations. The family maintained a relationship with the Von Eldritch and Ars Goetia families.
