Morningstar is the surname of the divine, royal family that presides over Heaven and the Universe. They consist of God, the ruler of all creation and the family's sole progenitor, and the Seven Heavenly Virtues, a choir of divine angels, princes and princesses and the leading defenders of the angelic order.
History
During the creation of Heaven, God created eight beings - bonded by soul - who would serve as His sons and preserve Heaven alongside Him as archangels. Eventually, the royal family expanded with several other angels being created soon after, each modeled after the Seven Heavenly Virtues. Eventually, Forti was adopted into the family after he proved his worthiness to God by pulling the legendary Excalibur from its stone, and appointed as leader of Heaven's military.
However, tragedy befell the royal family when one of their own, Lucifer Morningstar, conspired against his own blood after God commanded all angels of Heaven to worship and love humanity. The Prince of Heaven, having only seen the evils of humanity, amassed an army of angels to help him in overthrowing God, and allied himself with Satan, who had also desired vengeance on God for creating life. Setting his plan into motion, Lucifer enlisted Heaven's captain of the guard, Fergus (then named Koatal), in assassinating his seven brothers in cold-blood and unleashed the Devil upon the Universe, which devastated Heaven and humanity. Forti rose to defeat Satan and its dark army, at the price of imprisoning himself alongside it in Purgatory. Shortly after, Michael Morningstar, at God's behalf, defeated Lucifer and banished him to Hell along with all of the angels who followed him.
The War in Heaven dealt a mighty blow to the royal family; with most of the family's leading defending archangels dead, and Michael, being the one who stopped the war and succeeding Forti's place, assumed the role of commanding the entire Heavenly Host. The surviving members of the family were given their own duties (excluding the youngest member of the family, Azrael), which involved repairing the damage causes by the war and honoring the millions who had fallen.
At some point in time, God chose His children to uphold and protect the entirety of The Universe, though Michael, desiring more glory than leading the Heavenly Host and protecting Heaven, was indignant at his Father's decision. Michael made an extremely foolish move by replacing a young and inexperienced Azrael as Heaven's new protector and burdening him with military responsibilities. After that, God and His children left Heaven to embark on a journey across the cosmos, leaving Azrael as Heaven's new champion and the only remaining archangel in the sacred realm.
Following his banishment, Lucifer, embittered by God's actions, renounced his family name and went on to establish his own family with the first sinner, Lilith, which became known as the Magne family. He even went as far as to destroy his own soul to break the soul bond he had with his family members. Because of this, all of Lucifer's siblings forgot about him and would only know him as the King of Hell. Only God retained all of His memories of Lucifer.
