- "I believe in knowing your enemies. So go ahead, sweetpea. Tell me everything. Your desires, your fears, your weaknesses. I know you have some because you wouldn't have come here if you didn't. (chuckles) So indulge yourself, I already told my fawners to be ready to make things happen. Anything within Rosie's realm is easy. So, let's hear your story. I promise it will be fun!"
- — Rosie to Charlie.
Lady Rosie of Pride is a supporting character in Hazbin Hotel: Journey to the Light.
She is a cannibalistic Overlord, owner of Rosie's Emporium, and the ruler of Pentagram City's lower right district, the Cannibal Colony. She is close friends with Alastor and serves as something of a mother figure and mentor to Charlie.
A sophisticated, influential, graceful, and charismatic demon with a craving for the flesh of other demons, Rosie is an incredibly resourceful, wise, and wealthy demon who has her hands in many pots across the seven rings and can make things happen on a whim, and because of this, she owns many souls with all of them owing her more than a few favors. She governs over a legion of cannibalistic demons who serve her every whim.
Personality[]
- "Well, my late husband, Ephraim Sweet-Brier, may he rest in pieces, always used to say that every town only has room for one busybody. And I was never late to be that busybody. A town of any size, really, should have at least one meddler, one chessmaster controlling everything behind the scenes, and that's me."
- — Rosie.
Rosie is a reserved, confident, affable, and articulate demon and Overlord. She has a great deal of power over the demon population of the Pride Ring, but in contrast to her contemporaries she prefers to not get involved in the typical power struggles for control or resources, though she will still watch from afar with great interest. She is very extroverted and a traveler of the seven rings, having gotten a taste of basically all of what Hell has to offer, and being connected to many highborn demon, from Bethesda to Beelzebub.
She is extremely intelligent, deceptive, and cunning, known for her ability to make anything happen once she arranges it, and when she spots physical or emotional weaknesses in her targets, she will quickly use it to her advantage. With a morbid sense of humor, Rosie is known for being admittedly very nosy; she simply must know everything and everybody, and involves herself in many of Hell's politics.
Incredibly capable, Rosie can seemingly do anything for anyone, in exchange for their loyalty and helpfulness. She has a stylish flair and bombastic presence with a habit of chewing the scenery like demon flesh. She commands every room she enters with her theatrical presence, exuding confidence and a bold, brassy charisma that Alastor and her loyal cannibal underlings deeply admire. Her personality is a captivating blend of charm, humor, and a vibrant zest for life. Rosie possesses a sharp wit that allows her to effortlessly navigate conversations, always armed with a clever and quick response. In her world, the word "can't" holds no sway, for she possesses an unwavering determination, capable of finding a solution to surmount any obstacle that may come her way.
Similar to Alastor, Rosie has a morbid and sadistic sense of humor. She casually cracks jokes and laughs about her partner Franklin's demise, and exhibits a penchant for crafting body-related puns while discussing about cannibalism.
Despite her poised and polite nature, Rosie has a darker side that aligns with her cannibalistic nature, permitting her subordinate cannibals to feast upon newcomers in the Cannibal Colony, and will readily kill without a care in the world. Her assistance to others comes at the cost of one's soul, and she's eager and unafraid to employ extortion to extract recompense. Upon the arrival of the hotel crew within her dominion, her initial inclination was to unleash her bloodthirsty adherents upon them, until Alastor clarified their association with him. Subsequently, her demeanor shifted to warmth and hospitality towards the hotel crew. She maintained a gracious tone when addressing Charlie, even extending the gesture of offering demon remains to avert the crew's hunger.
With time, Rosie became a mentor figure for Charlie, sharing invaluable business insights and proposing enhancements for the Hazbin Hotel, though Charlie usually insists on doing things herself, which Rosie respects. Though Charlie expected Rosie to want the princesses' soul as payment, Rosie humorously asked only for gardening advice and unique plants as compensation from the princess.
Rosie possesses a profound understanding of the intricacies of Hell and its internal mechanisms. She's well-acquainted with the names of every resident in her town and remains informed about all significant occurrences in real-time. When asked, she can provide comprehensive descriptions of any demon without hesitation. Rosie, however, chooses to shroud her knowledge in secrecy, sharing only a limited extent with those she trusts, citing the tendency for information to spread like wildfire.
Rosie has a fascination with old society; she dresses in Victorian-era clothing, attends vaudeville plays, and prefers to be driven around in a 1930s Cadillac. Much like Alastor, she is a luddite who detests newer technology and modern clothing, forcing anyone who enters her town to forfeit their technological devices and change their clothing to fit among her denizens, lest they be devoured. She hates newer technology so much that she doesn't even recognize smartphones as "phones", but rather "flashy picture boxes".
Rosie has a fondness for musical arts and botany. She even forms a connection with Charlie through their mutual affinity for gardens and singing.
Rosie's taste for the finer things in life is undeniable, and she exhibits a touch of refined opinion. She relishes surrounding herself in opulent, old-world settings adorned with occasionally ostentatious decor. Rosie insists on traveling in style, often chauffeured to her destinations in exquisite antique automobiles. Her penchant for elegance extends to carrying elegant, high-end umbrellas, even when the sun shines brightly. Upon encountering the somewhat dilapidated Hazbin Hotel, Rosie couldn't help but offer unsolicited advice to Charlie on how to elevate its presentation. Her input was delivered with an air of authority, even though it was entirely unsolicited. However, she graciously permitted Charlie to manage the hotel according to her own vision and the princesses' expectations. Additionally, Rosie is avid enthusiast of attending elite, high-class gatherings, where she slyly confesses to indulging in the art of gossip with fellow high-society demons who share her elevated status. These exclusive parties provide her with the perfect platform to both revel in sophistication and discreetly exchange tales and tidbits with her equally esteemed peers.
While maintaining an outward veneer of politeness towards her visitors, Rosie conceals a sadistic and bloodthirsty side. This darker aspect propels her to hunger for the flesh of fellow demons, impelling her to ruthlessly consume any dissenters who venture into her town, regardless of their intentions, even if they seek refuge. An intrigue for death further taints her demeanor, rendering her seemingly indifferent to the demise of her adherents and associates. A chilling example emerged when her partner Franklin was obliterated by the Exterminators; Rosie's reaction was to callously cross out Franklin's name on their emporium sign while grinning as her followers devoured Franklin's remains. Nonetheless, within this enigmatic blend, a contrasting sentiment does arise. Rosie exhibited a later remorse for Franklin's demise, expressing a hope that Franklin could find solace in the knowledge that she and her cannibalistic minions put her remains to use.
Appearance[]
Rosie possesses an elegant demonic appearance, with a slender frame, ghostly pale complexion, and razor-sharp, pearl-white teeth. She has pitch black eyes and sports a long neck. Her hairstyle is typically short and white, though it can occasionally be concealed beneath her large, red hat.
Her attire consists of a striking red dress adorned with gray shoulder pads, cinched together by a sleek black belt. Her wrists are also adorned in black. Relationships[]
Allies[]
Alastor[]
Rosie and Alastor share a profound camaraderie as allied Overlords. In the sprawling expanse of Hell, Rosie, alongside Husk, Mimzy, and Niffty, is one of the very few entities that Alastor genuinely views as friends. The cannibal duo's relationship is marked by mutual admiration, playful banter, and a shared history of theatrical and social engagements. Alastor visits Rosie's cannibal town frequently, where she and Alastor often catch up on Hell's going-ons, watch musicals together, and participate in the cannibal town's festivities.
Rosie openly celebrates Alastor's fame and influence, delighting in his achievements, such as his radio broadcasts and his connection to figures like Lucifer. She also highly respects him, telling the Hazbin gang to appreciate his assistance. She expresses nostalgia for their past interactions, hinting at a fondness for his company despite their busy schedules. She also is very familiar with Alastor's tendencies, such as the running gag of him suddenly appearing and jumpscaring people.
Alastor reciprocates Rosie's enthusiasm with charm and humor, acknowledging her knack for timing and her bold personality. He fondly recalls their shared experiences, like performing at the Cannibal Fair Dinner, and playfully teases her for her infamous appetite and her impact on their potluck. The two love to play off each other's wit while talking, as she retorts with a lighthearted quip about her insatiable cravings.
Franklin[]
Franklin was Rosie's best friend and former co-owner of Rosie's Emporium who was killed during an Extermination.
Overall, Rosie seemed to have a close relationship with Franklin, as shown by the portraits of them together in Rosie's Emporium. While Rosie expresses some pity over Franklin's erasure, she doesn't view it as something to cry about due to both her and Franklin loving and embracing all forms of death. She also casually cracks morbid jokes at Franklin's erasure, such as the cannibals not wasting any part of her corpse, treating Franklin's fate more as a matter of routine or efficiency than loss. There's a hint of dark humor in how Rosie handles the situation, knowing Franklin would have a good laugh and would likely crack jokes if Rosie was the one at the end of the spear.
Charlie Magne[]
Rosie is a mentor and something of a mother figure to Charlie. She maintains an exceptionally amiable rapport with Charlie, readily extending guidance and aid to the princess without any hesitation. Her support comes with minimal expectation of reciprocation; though the cost of Rosie's assistance is typically one's immortal soul, Rosie only asks for gardening advice and some spare plants from Charlie.
The dynamics of their interaction often mirror those of a nurturing, yet hard nosed and overbearing mother and a cherished daughter. Rosie often inquiries about Charlie's well-being, including her meals and rest, like an overprotective mother would their daughter.
Pets[]
Carnivorous plants[]
Rosie owns a greenhouse of carnivorous plants imported from the Gluttony Ring, which she claims was a gift from Beelzebub. She cares deeply for these plants and enjoys feeding them leftover flesh, considering them her "babies".

Chapter 2[]
- "Well... What have we here? Foreigners strolling into my dominion with their ostentatious apparel and cultish devices? [...] Allow my fawners to welcome you to Cannibal Colony. Here, you will find only the best buffets Hell has to offer! And the main course... (chuckles darkly) ...is you."
- — Rosie menacingly welcoming the hotel crew to Cannibal Colony.
- "Now, Alastor, why didn't you tell me these were friends of yours?! My late husband, Lincoln Wake, coined the phrase 'Rosie ensures she never leaves a bad impression on good company' and I've made great strides to uphold his words! (to her cannibals) Ladies, my dearest apologies for getting you all peckish and bloodthirsty for nothing. Don't get upset, Rosie'll treat ya to Hannibal's at five."
- — Rosie after Alastor told her the Hazbin gang were with him.
- "Rosie: You all should consider yourselves lucky to drink from the same cup as the Radio Demon! This man's rubbed elbows with Lucifer himself! Not to mention that darling radio broadcast of his!! Though, I DO miss his visits. (to Alastor, who is now right next to them.) Oh, there you are. (The hotel crew turn and notice Alastor right there; They scream and jump at Alastor's sudden appearance; Rosie claps and laughs.) Classic!!! (She elegantly approaches Alastor, a sway in her step.) We've been neglected ever since you've been puttin' on the ritz!
Alastor: (He chuckles proudly, checking his nails) That was quite a lovely and astute introduction, Rosie, I couldn't miss my shot to rise from the wings! (Leaning on his staff.) I apologize for my absence, but we both have our own affairs, as you know. I always enjoy this time we share, Rosie. I really do. You always have the happy saggly of saying the right thing at the right time! I remember, when we sang and hoofed it at last year's annual Cannibal fair dinner, you didn't do a thing wrong... Except eat my side of the potluck. (Mic plays stock laughter.)
Rosie: (She chuckles with a shit-eating grin.) Well, darling, you know what they say about my cravings. 'Rosie waits for no one!'
Alastor: And how! But what gave me the biggest kick I got at that dinner was when you got up and sang a song and I saw tears come to the eyes of those old-timers.
Rosie: (She turns her head and gives Alastor an 'oh, stop!' gesture.) Oh, don't sell yourself short, Al. When you got up on that stage and sang 'Ma Blushin' Rosie', I could see birds falling from the sky, cold dead... It was quite lovely!!!" - — Rosie and Alastor batching up with each other.
- "Rosie: Well, let Rosie make that fiendish welcome up to you all! (she snaps her fingers and a limousine instantly pulls up) My Emporium! Rosie'll even get you dolls all-expenses-paid trip to the cannibal salon! I know Vaggie would just adore a nail job!
Vaggie: How... How did you know my name?
Rosie: (puts a hand on Vaggie's shoulder, slowly wrapping an arm around her) Oh, doll, you'd be surprised at what I know about people even when they've only been in my home for 2 minutes.
Cannibal Valet: (to Vaggie; sarcastically) Like you bein' one of Al's chums!! Nek-nek-nek!!
Rosie: (to the Valet, playful) Oh, don't you dare doubt my powers, Mr. Vandergelder!" - — Rosie invites the gang to her emporium.
- "Rosie: My, Rosie's been just dying to meet you! (she takes off her hat with a bow) The pleasure is all mine, Princess!
Charlie: No need for the honorifics, ma'am. Just call me Charlie!
Rosie: Very well! Oh, where are my manners? (a sentient chair knocks into Charlie from behind, making her sit in it) Come, sit, stay for a while! (one of Rosie's servants presents the princess with a tray filled with mutilated body parts, glasses full of blood, and a bowl of removed eyeballs) Would you like some hors d'oeuvres? I'm sure I have some fresh blood or an arm lying about...
Charlie: Um...
Rosie: Oh! Who am I kidding? Small thing like you, you're obviously watching your figure. How about some pinkie fingers instead?" - — Rosie meeting Charlie.
- "Why? Why not?! I mean, think about it, darling, when you strip away all moral and civil boundaries, well, there's no limit to anything you can do. You can do whatever the hell you want, and that's an opportunity I simply REFUSE to fathom letting pass me by! The world is my oyster, and I shall do with it as I please! And if my heart so desires to gnaw on the flesh of my fellow demon, then that's fine and dandy by me!"
- — Rosie on why she is a cannibal.
- "Alastor, Alastor you know you're my favorite.... (to Charlie) Just tell Rosie what you need and know it's going to happen. I have a primo connection with a gentleman who possesses about eight blocks of territory and not enough goons to run it. Prime pickings for a deal to be made, my friends. And I tell you what, this little tidbits on the house today! No, no, no need to thank me, you know I'm always willing to help, but since I got you here how about you do me a little favor in return, just between us highborn."
- — Rosie.
- "My sweet dear, it takes no great talent at all to make the royal family swoon on a good day. Though if I do say so myself, I was simply dazzling on my last trip to The Circus."
- — Rosie to Charlie.
- "Poor, dear Franklin. Such a shame she had to be erased this year, but I already locked the doors. (chuckles) At least it may give her spirit some degree of solace... That we didn't waste any part of her."
- — Rosie lamenting the death of her partner, Franklin.

- "Charlie: Well, whaddya think?!
Rosie: Huh... (she looks at the hotel's decor uneasily, still maintaining a pained smile) Well... it has a charm to it! I wouldn't step foot in it, but you have an eye for your clientele, dear! (she spins around while looking at the stairs) This is a quaint little operation you have here! Not quite as well-lit or well-decorated or well-.. anything that I like myself. (to Alastor) Shame on you, Alastor! How could you let this poor thing toil away in a dingy, depressing place as this? (to Charlie) You know, dear, I have a couple people that could really put a bit of real shine on this place and it just so happens that they owe me a few favors. Lemme just-
Charlie: No, thank you! I, uuuuuh, like it just as is!
Rosie: (there's an explosion above the stairs, followed by Baxter laughing; Rosie smoothly holds her umbrella above herself, blocking dust and small debris that nearly falls onto her, before stylishly closing her umbrella) Whatever gnaws your flesh, dear!
