"My followers! Wrath now belongs to us!! Let us celebrate by drinking from the skulls of the fallen leaders and their stupid and weak followers, and burn the seven rings with our fury! The time has come for Wrath to rise once again to glory of its new leader... SCORPIUS!!!"
— Scorpius.

Scorpius is a supporting antagonist-turned-character in Hazbin Hotel: Journey to the Light.

He was an extremely homicidal and barbaric Hellcat and Azazel's former top enforcer and slave, having risen to the said position after murdering the Wrath Ring's previous rulers and all of their followers. Armed with a legendary holy fire axe, Scorpius was determined to conquer the seven rings of Hell and make all within fear the name of his master. However, while very dangerous and vengeful, he was also a slow and reckless dolt who simply wanted people to think he was intelligent. While feared universally through sheer reputation, many who encounter the ruler of Wrath were often left surprised by how foolish he truly was. He was, at one point, one of I.M.P's many adversaries who was enlisted by Lucifer to aid I.M.P in their suicide mission to kill the Happy Hotel crew, where he established a strong friendship with Millie for her being one of the only people in his life who did not see him as a stupid monster.

After I.M.P betrayed Lucifer in exchange for joining the Happy Hotel crew in stopping Leviathan and aiding them in the King of Envy's death, Scorpius returned to the Wrath Ring to assist Azazel in destroying a rebel uprising. When Moxxie and Millie were captured by Azazel's forces, Scorpius eventually betrayed his former master to assist them in escaping from the Wrath Ring. Following his betrayal, he was fatally wounded and killed by Azazel but was still able to assist in the imp king's downfall.

Biography

Scorpius was a Hellcat born into the Wrath Ring, Hell's most chaotic and lawless ring. During his childhood, Scorpius' home was decimated by the forces of Azazel, who had all the survivors of the land enslaved, including Scorpius and his family. Scorpius' father was among the many great warriors of the land, therefore Azazel saw to it that Scorpius be alive as a bargaining chip, forcing his father to do his bidding under the threat of killing his son.

When Scorpius was a child, he witnessed Azazel murdering his father. His father had sustained too many injuries and lost limbs from combat, and thus Azazel deemed him worthless. In a bid to clean out the dead weight of his ranks, Azazel would then out Scorpius and numerous other children and warriors (who, like Scorpius himself, had been taken hostage from various lands) in a death tournament to decide who would live and become a member of his army. Having already received combat training from his father, Scorpius was able to channel the rage and used his newfound strength to slaughter the other combatants, thus securing his place in Azazel's military.

From that point on, Scorpius would slowly rise to become Azazel's top enforcer, slaughtering any populace the ruler of Wrath ordered him, and securing any piece of land Azazel desired. Scorpius instilled great fear into the populace as the single most bloodthirsty being within the ring.

Events of Hazbin Hotel: Journey to the Light

Chapter 4

Scorpius was recruited by Lucifer to aid I.M.P in its mission to kill the Happy Hotel crew due to his immense prowess with fighting and his supernatural durability.

In "Assemble", Scorpius was waiting in the halls of Lucifer's fortress along with Verosika Mayday, her crew, Striker, and the C.H.E.R.U.B, until I.M.P themselves entered the room. Desiring Blitzø and Moxxie's violent deaths for stealing his flaming axe, Scorpius instinctively barred his teeth and took out his legendary axe, ready to kill. However, Lucifer himself entered shortly afterward, preventing any fight from occurring. Lucifer advised Blitzø not to kill Scorpius, claiming that the hellcat was the strongest fighter among the recruited.

Lucifer then led the team to an auditorium where he explained their mission and the capabilities of the hotel's crew members, advising them to kill everyone involved with the hotel, except Charlie Magne. Scorpius barely paid attention to what Lucifer was saying, using a crayon to messily draw an image of himself decapitating Moxxie with an axe and showing it to the imp, who was a couple of rows ahead of him, which caused Moxxie to nervously duck down in his chair.

While I.M.P and their head-butting "allies" were loading their equipment into a specialized van, Verosika ordered Scorpius, who was sharpening his axe nearby, to load her equipment in for her. Scorpius was incensed by the pop star's demand, shouting that he was not a "laptop" while angrily approaching her with his axe in hand. Before Scorpius could do anything, Verosika's bodyguard, Vortex, stepped in Scorpius' path to defend his boss. Scorpius ordered Vortex to step aside, to which the latter insisted that Scorpius make him step aside. Scorpius and Vortex proceeded to get into a snarling match with each other, which Scorpius wins after his rage increases his size and strength. Vortex, having taken a liking to Scorpius, laughs the encounter off, compliments Scorpius on his ability, and pats him on the shoulder before walking away, leaving Scorpius confused at Vortex's friendly gesture.

In "Connection", Scorpius and the rest of his team traveled across the Pride Ring, tracking one-half of the Happy Hotel crew, before most of the gang stop their search to sleep as night falls. While most of the team were sleeping outside of the van, Scorpius attempted to decapitate Moxxie while he was sleeping, but Blitzø catches him in the act and stops the hellcat by shooting him with a shotgun. Scorpius viciously charged at Blitzø with his fire ax, but he and Striker teamed up to take down Scorpius, even though the wrathful hellcat put up some resistance. The entire team is awoken by the commotion, and Striker offers the option of killing Scorpius due to him being too much of a liability, but Moxxie, of all people, objects to this out of pragmatic reasons. The team makes Scorpius sleep several meters away from the van for the rest of the night to prevent him from attacking one of them.

The next day, Scorpius and the rest of the team continue tracking the hotel crew, leading them to a traffic jam on a highway. Scorpius warns the team that his "battle gland" is hardening, while Moxxie noticed people running away from the bridge. The team readied for a fight as Sir Pentious, piloting a giant egg robot, emerged from under the bridge with an army of Egg Bois. Since Pentious stood in the team's way of getting to the hotel crew and would not back down when Blitzø asked him to, they promptly engaged Pentious and his small army in a lengthy battle, with Scorpius viciously crushing and even eating some of the Egg Bois. Despite their efforts, I.M.P were overwhelmed by Sir Pentious' weaponry, prompting Lucifer to send Robo Fizz and the Loo Loo Land mascot to even the odds. Robo Fizz wrapped himself around the legs that supported Pentious' robot, toppling it over, and giving Scorpius the opportunity to decimate the robot using his axe. Although defeated, Pentious is able to escape after the Egg Bois prevented Striker from mercilessly killing him.

In the aftermath of the battle, Scorpius attempted to devour Moxxie while seemingly no one was looking, only for Millie to intervene by smacking Scorpius on the top of his head with one of the severed legs of Sir Pentious' robot. When Millie incredulously asked Scorpius if that was any way to treat his friends, he angrily stated that Moxxie was no friend of his and that he has no friends regardless, which Millie reacts to sympathetically. Millie asked Scorpius if she could be his friend, which confuses the hellcat. Millie tells Scorpius that she sees some good in him and he should not be afraid of having friends. Scorpius was astonished to have his first friend, wordlessly handshaking Millie.

Chapter 5

In "Down at the Ranch", it is revealed that Scorpius returned to the Wrath Ring shortly after the death of Leviathan to continue serving Azazel and help his lord destroy a rising revolution. While on his way to receive orders from Azazel, Scorpius crossed paths with Millie, who had recently become enslaved into serving in Azazel's military. Millie was delighted to see her friend and tried to greet him, but Scorpius only looked at her with a depressed and empty expression before continuing his path to Azazel's throne room.

The following day, Scorpius leads Azazel's army into a battle against the Uprising. During the battle, Scorpius saves Moxxie and Milie from being killed by a blessed missile, though he receives an injury in the process. Enraged by seeing Scorpius get hurt and refusing to let herself and her husband be used as cannon fodder, Millie goes ape on the Uprising, killing them in droves while Moxxie provided ranged support. After recovering, Scorpius fight alongside Millie as they both scream like mighty warriors and decimate the opposition. After the battle, Azazel, not even noticing (or perhaps not caring about) Scorpius' injury, bluntly ordered his slave to return to the fortress as there was nothing left to destroy.

In "All's Fair in Wrath and War", Scorpius continues assisting Azazel in securing territory over Wrath, fighting a war on one of the few beautiful landscapes in Wrath along with Millie and Azazel's army. During one of these battles, Scorpius saves Millie when she is pinned by a soldier by biting the enemy soldier's head off, and Millie returns the favor by annihilating archers who briefly crippled Scorpius.

Following the battle and annihilation of the rival army, Scorpius sits down on a rock and watches solemnly as Azazel's army pillages the beautiful land, stealing its rich resources, enslaving innocent bystanders, and causing a massive wildfire by burning Azazel's symbol into the forests to serve as a symbol of the imp king's power. Millie sits next to Scorpius and tries to speak with him, but Scorpius is forced to give her the cold shoulder as he does not want anything bad to happen to her. Millie tells Scorpius that he is not alone and can escape with her and Moxxie just before she is dragged back to the ranks by Azazel's guards.

An exhausted Scorpius begins aimlessly exploring the rich land, eventually entering a cave and happening upon an oasis. He tosses his axe to the ground in disgust and strips himself of his armor before taking a dip in the pool and feeling peace for perhaps the first time in his life, which he realizes is all he ever wanted. Scorpius then begins self-reflecting and remembering his traumatic backstory, including being taken from his father; watching his father slowly become weaker and weaker every time he would return from fighting Azazel's wars; witnessing Azazel murder his father once he was crippled during conflict; and finally, being forced to kill other pups and warriors to avoid being killed himself, which earned him his position of Azazel's right-hand man. Scorpius wordlessly looks at his wounds, realizing that he is following in his father's footsteps and is now too weak to help Moxxie and especially Millie, just as his father became too weak to help him. Knowing he is failing the two imps, he begins fighting back tears out of frustration of being too afraid to help the one demon who has ever shown him kindness, before taking a much-needed nap in the oasis.

In "Double Agent, Double Pain", Scorpius accompanies Azazel on a mission to destroy the Uprising after he had tricked Moxxie into leading his army to their base. He watches as Azazel tasks Moxxie with single-handedly wiping out their ranks, and when Azazel threatens Moxxie by strangling Millie with a noose, Scorpius seems to move slightly to stop his master but knows he is too weak to stop Azazel, giving him no choice but to watch and not risk his or Millie's safety. Once the Uprising is annihilated, Azazel declares that Moxxie and Scorpius are going to fight to the death the next day, and proceeds to brutally injure Moxxie for his defiance, taunting Scorpius afterward by saying he now has an "easy target" after growing so weak over time. As Millie breaks down in tears over Moxxie, Scorpius looks at them with sadness before heading back to Azazel's fortress to prepare for the next day.

In "See The Fire in Your Eyes", on the day of his fight with Moxxie, Scorpius enters the colosseum and faces the imp. Following his arrival, Azazel declares that the two are to fight to the death at the threat of Millie being hung should they both fail to comply. Moxxie is given his weapons as Scorpius conjures his fire axe, and the battle began.

Initially, Scorpius holds back massively against Moxxie, not making any serious attempt to fight him and allowing the imp to land hits on him with his sniper rifle. Azazel notices Scorpius' hesitation and suspends Millie with her noose to motivate him. With this, Scorpius fights more ferociously, nearly cleaving Moxxie several times and successfully cutting many of his firearms in half. A desperate and bloodied Moxxie refuses to stand down, attempting to climb on Scorpius and stab him with a knife, but the Hellcat catches him and hurls him into a boulder, taking him out.

Azazel sadistically orders Scorpius to finish off Moxxie for being weak. Scorpius somberly approaches the unconscious Moxxie with his fire axe as Millie practically begs Scorpius to spare Moxxie. Scorpius raises his axe above Moxxie and remembers the last conversation he had with his father before he was murdered by Azazel, telling his son his regret for living as a slave than dying a warrior. Realizing in that moment of suspense that he would rather die at a warrior's end than continue being Azazel's slave and carrying out his atrocities, Scorpius turned around and roared ferociously as he hurled his axe at Azazel, who just barely dives out of the axe's path as it explosively destroys his throne. This allows Mille to free herself and leap into battle alongside Scorpius as Azazel's forces charged at them. Scorpius and Millie work together to massacre Azazel's forces, both of them bursting into maniacal cackling. Soon after, Blitzø (riding Spindle into battle) and the soldiers of the Hellcat arrive at Moxxie and Millie's aid, storming into the colosseum and pushing Azazel's army back. Fed up, Azazel himself finally gets involved in the battle, using his spear to split the earth around everybody apart, causing dozens of fighters to fall into the fiery chasm while others barely make it to safety.

Scorpius stops Azazel from killing a defenseless Moxxie by stopping the imp king's spear with his axe, finally declaring that Moxxie is his "friend" and he will not allow Scorpius to harm him. Two fight and Azazel initially overwhelms Scorpius, telling him that he is just as weak as his father. Millie comes to Scorpius' aid and fights Azazel alongside him. The two are able to clip Azazel's wings, but the imp king still handily fends off both of them and manages to punch Millie to the sidelines.

Surrounded by fire and bloodshed, Azazel and Scorpius continue their battle. Azazel punches Scorpius' axe out of his hand and begins slicing the warrior across his chest and legs with his spear. Scorpius tries to fight back, but Azazel easily knocks him to the ground and impales the warrior in the chest with his spear, pinning him to the ground before mercilessly pounding his face bare-handed. While getting the life beat out of him, Scorpius remembers a memory where Azazel beat him within an inch of his life when he was made his lieutenant. Scorpius musters up his last bit of strength, lunging up and catching one of Azazel's punches with his teeth before using his jaws to tear the imp king's right hand off, causing Azazel a tremendous amount of pain. With Azazel wounded and dismembered, Millie, wielding Scorpius' axe, attacks the imp king with insane fury, castrating him with his own spear before beheading him with Scorpius' axe.

With Azazel defeated, Moxxie and Millie rush to Scorpius' side as he lies dying. Millie tearfully begs Scorpius to hang on, but he tells her that the war against Azazel has finally been won, thus he can finally rest. He declares that Millie has proved herself a warrior worthy of being the owner of his axe, passing it down to her. Scorpius then passes peacefully, surrounded by his only friends.

Personality

During Azazel's reign over Wrath, the very mention of Scorpius' name was enough to instill great fear into most of Hell's inhabitants. He presented himself as a highly brutal, vicious, and borderline animalistic warlord of unrelenting fury with a penchant for destroying anything in his path, and then enslaving any potential survivors; the perfect killing machine. He was very loud and ill-tempered, almost never speaking at a low volume, and was practically fuming with unadulterated rage most of the time, even when he did not particularly have anything to be mad about. It was not difficult at all to set him off and even something as playing a harmless trick on him was enough to send him on a rampage.

Despite his fearsome reputation and his priding himself on being a competent ruler, Scorpius was frequently shown to be quite idiotic, childish, and literal-minded, lacking any semblance of self-awareness, and as such served as the comic relief of I.M.P when he teamed up with them on their mission to kill the hotel crew. He believed Blitzø was praising him when the imp sarcastically called him a "great leader" while commenting on the state of the Wrath Ring. In addition, he had a habit of making incredibly reckless mistakes, like accidentally getting himself crushed while destroying a giant building, and sleeping carelessly, which allowed Blitzø and Moxxie to steal his prized fire axe, effectively making him a very humorous antagonist, despite how incredibly seriously he takes himself.

Whenever Scorpius attempted to think strategically, he seemed to be capable of only coming up with very simplistic and ineffective ideas, such as disguising himself with nothing but a pair of fake glasses and a tie to sneak into The Deep End nightclub, or suggesting that I.M.P sneak into Hell-antis by hiding in a giant cardboard box. He was also implied to be rather chauvinistic, not seeing females as strong as their male counterparts, as he had his men kidnap Moxxie and Blitzø specifically to carry out an assassination mission, while not even considering Millie and Loona for the job, despite their clear capabilities, as he believed that one should not send a woman to do a man's job. However, not only does this seem to be a result of Wrathian values and especially from serving Azazel, did seem to rectify toxic masculinity as he forged a close friendship with Millie on I.M.P's mission, and, upon his death, passed his holy axe down to her as she proved herself to be worthy of wielding it.

Going in hand with his wrathful nature, Scorpius was exceptionally vengeful and unforgiving, as he desired the brutal deaths of Moxxie and Blitzø after they took his legendary fire axe, despite the fact that the two eventually returned it to him (along with a gift basket) when the axe served its purpose to them. He was, however, eventually able to let go of his hatred for them.

Despite seeming like an animalistic monster at first glance, Scorpius was, in reality, a deeply unfulfilled and pathetic demon. A lifetime of living in the inhospitable Wrath Ring, coupled with being treated like an idiot and a monster his entire life through events mostly no fault of his own, led him to never have any friends or experience affection from others (occasionally outside of his cold father). He did not even seem to know what affection or friendship was until his death and displayed confusion whenever it was shown to him. When Vortex gave Scorpius a friendly pat on the back, it snapped him out of his rage and left him astonished and confused, and when Millie offered to be friends with Scorpius, he wordlessly accepted her offer with a dumbfounded expression. Following this, Scorpius slowly became more amiable towards I.M.P and his other teammates as a whole, taking orders from Blitzø without so much as an outburst, and forming a friendship with Vortex. Though unlikely to admit it, he was shown time and again to have a soft and caring side to him, enough to comfort Millie when the latter seemingly lost her husband, Moxxie. He believed that his sole purpose in life was to kill and destroy, which was psychologically implanted in him by his abusive master, Azazel. Though he seemingly no longer let his former master's words get into his head.

Appearance

Scorpius was a massive, snoutless hellcat with disheveled grey fur and a black mohawk. He was covered in scars and fresh cuts, with a large scar on his left eyebrow, and sports-notched, tattered ears, all of which were given to him by Azazel. His right eye was yellow while his left eye is damaged and red-colored, possibly from blood. He wore a slightly damaged, black, armored vest, a medium grey skirt, a dark grey bandolier against his chest, wrist gauntlets and a belt with a black buckle, and grey boots with black leggings.

Whenever Scorpius was particularly enraged, he gained black claws, his eyes became blood red, and his muscle mass and size increased exponentially.

Powers and Abilities

"Showtime, boy!"
Blitzø siccing Scorpius on the Happy Hotel crew.

Scorpius was an incredibly capable warrior, having slaughtered countless warriors of Wrath who stood in his way of conquest. Lucifer himself even claimed at one point that Scorpius was the strongest among the assassin team he had assembled to kill the hotel crew, placing his strength above I.M.P, Striker, and the C.H.E.R.U.B combined.

Natural Powers

  • Demonic Transformation: Scorpius had the ability to transform into his Full Demon Form, as well as revert back to his normal form at will.
  • Immortality: As with all Hellcats, Scorpius possessed a potentially endless lifespan.
    • Nigh-Invulnerability: Having been battle-hardened from living his entire life in Wrath, Scorpius was virtually impervious to any form of attack outside of divine power or weaponry, or warriors of equal strength. He could withstand falls from great heights, exposure to extremes in temperature, high caliber bullets and explosives, and being crushed by entire structures, all without sustaining an injury and only being mildly annoyed. In Blitzø's flashback, he was shown to endure being bitten in the legs, neck, and arm by numerous hellhounds, all of which only served to enrage him. Not only was his hide strong enough to tank several point-blank shotgun blasts from Blitzø with no visible damage, but shooting him only served to piss him off more than anything else. During I.M.P's encounter against Sir Pentious and the Egg Bois, Scorpius caught a missile using his teeth and proceeded to bite down on it so that it would explode in his face, setting himself on fire as an intimidation strategy since the explosion or fire did not affect him at all. He also endured several direct hits from Cherri Bomb's cherry bombs and Fergus' robot arm cannon, the latter which is powerful enough to destroy large stone structures, both of which only served to slightly stun and anger him. However, his durability had its limits as it was shown later that decades of endless battles had taken a toll on Scorpius' body, and he was in constant pain. His durability also showed its limits during his battle with Azazel, as the imp king's punches were enough to daze and bloody Scorpius, and he was ultimately killed when Azazel impaled him through the heart with his spear.

Unique Powers

  • Enhanced Senses: According to Moxxie, Scorpius had an extrasensory awareness of danger, known as a "battle gland", that alerted him to an incoming enemy, fight, or battle from miles away. Before I.M.P's battle with Sir Pentious, Scorpius was altered to Sir Pentious' presence moments before the snake launched his attack on the highway they were attempting to cross.
  • Rage Power: Scorpius had the ability to become stronger, faster, larger, and more durable through his anger, rage, hatred, and vengeance.
  • Supernatural Speed and Reflexes: Despite his massive frame, Scorpius was capable of reacting and moving at amazing speeds, at one point catching a missile with his teeth.
  • Supernatural Strength: Scorpius possessed supernatural levels of physical strength that enabled him to overpower nearly every entity that opposed him. In Blitzø's flashback, he was shown crushing a demon's head with one hand, and violently tearing one hellhound's arms off in order to use them as clubs to savagely beat them to death, as well as tear a demon vertically in half with no visible effort. He could swing his axe with enough force to easily dismember and bisect other demons, barrel through walls without effort or hindrance, and use his strength to fling a car at Sir Pentious' giant robot. When fighting against the Happy Hotel crew, Scorpius was strong enough to fight and overpower Fergus, who possesses enhanced strength and who was once a captain of the guard in Heaven (that was before his banishment from the realm and his angelic power being stripped away), landing a punch that sent Fergus flying into a wall with enough force to smash through said wall, and body-slammed him through multiple floors of The Deep End.

External Powers

  • Pyrokinesis: Scorpius' holy axe is imbued with fire, which allowed him to project torrents of flames from the head of the axe, create rings of fire, project fireballs, and summon a hail of fiery asteroids to devastate his surroundings. Scorpius could also form massive walls of fire and lava or even summon fire tornadoes around himself or his allies capable of instantly melting bullets and other projectiles. As a result of being an angelic axe, the fire created by the weapon is capable of permanently killing demons and lower angels.

Abilities

  • Hand-to-Hand Combat: As the mightiest warrior of the Wrath Ring, Scorpius was an extremely skilled combatant with decades worth of training and experience, as he had single-handedly killed almost every demon who has opposed him, and many other powerful beings, which allowed him to take over the entire Wrath Ring despite constant opposition. He single-handedly annihilated numerous forces while claiming territory for Azazel. In Blitzø's flashback, he was shown effortlessly overpowering an entire army of imps and hellhounds, and effortlessly slaughtering them. Scorpius was even skilled enough to have seemingly killed dozens of Exterminators in the past, who are exceptional killers capable of massacring even the strongest demons. That said, his fighting style was purely barbaric and untrained.
  • Intimidation: Due to his psychotic ferociousness and unpredictability, Scorpius was one of the most feared warlords in all of Hell during his service of Azazel, with many inhabitants of Wrath expressing great fear of him. Moxxie and Blitzø were visibly afraid when they realized that Scorpius desired revenge against them for stealing his axe. To get rid of the long line in front of I.M.P at a Lust Ring club, Scorpius simply roared loudly, which sent the occupants scurrying down the streets.
  • Natural Weaponry: As a hellcat, Scorpius' nails and teeth were as sharp as blades, and was shown effortlessly slicing an imp into pieces in one brutal swipe and rending the flesh from an imp's skull. While fighting the Egg Bois and Sir Pentious with the rest of I.M.P, he easily crushed one Egg Boi using his massive jaws.
  • Weapon Proficiency: Scorpius could use many different types of weaponry with greater skill than the average person. Specifically, he specialized in swords, knives, firearms, and heavy weaponry, with his signature weapon being a massive, angelic battle axe.

Weapons

  • Holy Fire Axe (formerly): Scorpius' primary weapon was an angelic axe that was imbued with fire. How Scorpius obtained such a weapon is unknown, although legend claims that he obtained his weapon from the body of a slain Exterminator. When in combat, his axe emits a yellow-hued flame that, when struck against a solid surface, causes explosions of varying intensity, and disperses and spreads fire continuously. The axe was extremely sharp and powerful, capable of cutting through solid rock and heavy machinery like a knife through butter, easily dismembering or bisecting other demons, and could erase the soul of whichever demon Scorpius slayed with it. During I.M.P and the hotel crew's battle against Leviathan, Scorpius used the axe to sever one of the King of Envy's tentacles from his back, and Millie used the axe to outright erase Leviathan by destroying the inside of his skull.

Equipment

  • Tactical Vest: Scorpius wore a heavily damaged bullet, knife, and explosion-proof vest as part of his attire.

Weaknesses

  • Anger: Scorpius had a furious temper which his enemies could potentially exploit by baiting him into making reckless actions. Early in I.M.P's mission to kill the hotel crew, Scorpius nearly put their entire mission into jeopardy by devouring Moxxie, the team's main tactician, out of revenge for Moxxie stealing his axe before Blitzø and Striker caught him in the act.
  • Diminished Intelligence: While a remarkable warrior, Scorpius was incredibly reckless and idiotic, having made a fool of himself or made stupid, reckless mistakes many times in the past. He also demonstrated many times a severe lack of understanding of metaphors and symbolism. He was easily distracted and fascinated by objects or animals, completely forgetting what he was doing and instead on whatever caught his attention. Whenever he did attempt to use his brain, he only came up with simple and ineffective ideas when strategizing, although he believed them to be genius. He was also very impulsive with the tendency to let his vengeance drive most of his decisions with no consideration to the consequences of his actions. Most of all, Scorpius had his legendary axe briefly stolen by Moxxie and Blitzø, while he was carelessly sleeping.
  • Divine Intervention: Like all demons, Scorpius could be erased if he is lethally struck with angelic weaponry or divine power, as angels' weapons are capable of erasing the souls of demons and angels.

Millie

"Millie: Now, is that any way to treat your friends?!
Scorpius: (growling) That thieving imp is no friend of mine! I've never had friends! I don't need them, and I never will!!!
Millie: You... Don't have friends? (Scorpius huffs and walks a few feet away; after consideration, Millie approaches him) Everyone needs one. I bet underneath those cold eyes and that sour expression, you're just scared and confused. But y'all don't have anything to be afraid of. (she smiles and extends her hand) Friends? (Scorpius stares at Millie's hand before shaking it with hesitation, eventually gaining a look of contentedness)
"
— Millie befriends Scorpius after stopping him from eating Moxxie.

Millie is Scorpius' former enemy and his first friend. Millie and Scorpius first interacted after she stopped the hellcat from eating her husband, Moxxie. Angered, she asked the hellcat why he would try to kill his friends, to which Scorpius furiously said that Moxxie was not his friend, before admitting to never having friends, which Millie reacted to with sympathy. She asked Scorpius if she could be his first friend, which Scorpius accepted after some hesitation. Following this, Millie became somewhat endeared to Scorpius for becoming his first friend, showing him what affection was, and convincing him that he shouldn't kill his friends; He became fiercely protective of her during I.M.P's mission, despite her not needing much of his protection.

When Moxxie seemingly died during I.M.P's attempt to kill the hotel crew by drowning in the ocean of the Envy Ring, Millie desperately attempted to save him from drowning, nearly drowning herself in the process, although Scorpius apparently saved her and Blitzø along with Vortex. Later, when Millie was alone and crying uncontrollably over Moxxie's death, Scorpius comforted her by sitting next to her and wordlessly stroked her head, having learned the warm gesture from Millie herself. This slightly calmed the mourning imp down as she leaned against the hellcat for support.

When Millie and Moxxie were captured by Azazel, Scorpius was clearly hurt to see them used as a soldier and servant respectively, but initially made no real attempt to help them out of fear of Azazel punishing him, and knowing that Azazel would hurt Millie as he knew how much she meant to Scorpius. He fought alongside Mille when Azazel forced her into war, with them protecting each other from their opposition and briefly teaming up to complete their goals. When Azazel choked Millie with a noose, Scorpius could be seen gripping his axe as if was about to attack Azazel but decided to not go through with it. Ultimately, during his death fight with Moxxie, Scorpius finally gained the courage to rebel against his master and actively assisted Millie and Moxxie. He and Millie worked together to massacre Azazel's forces, cackling with each other and letting out all of their rages for what Azazel put them through.

After being fatally wounded by Azazel, a dying Scorpius passed on his axe to Millie, declaring that she had proven herself a worthy warrior.

Blitzø

"Scorpius: Imp, can you not see the good I have done for this ring?!
Blitzø: (glances to the devastated and war-torn Wrath Ring; sarcastically) Oh, yeah. You're doing a great job. You really are the best, Great Leader.
Scorpius: THERE ARE NO MORE GREAT LEADERS! I KILLED THEM ALL TO DEATH!!!
"
— Scorpius and Blitzø.

Scorpius first encountered Blitzø when he ordered him and Moxxie to be kidnapped and brought to his fortress in Wrath to assist him in killing a rival gang leader. Scorpius and Blitzø held mutual disdain for each other, with Scorpius hating Blitzø for the imp and Moxxie stealing his axe for the job he tasked them to do, and Blitzø hating Scorpius for kidnapping him. Blitzø was also very contemptuous towards Scorpius' intelligence and openly calls him an "edgelord" and "the big idiot".

When Scorpius encountered Blitzø again when enlisted by Lucifer to help I.M.P kill the Happy Hotel crew, Scorpius was not subtle about still wanting Blitzø and Moxxie dead for stealing his axe. Early in the mission, Scorpius attempted to devour Moxxie while he was sleeping, only for Blitzø and Striker to team up and stop him. Scorpius attempted to kill the two imps for sabotaging his attempted murder but was taken down by their combined efforts.

However, Scorpius and Blitzø's relationship had seemingly taken a positive turn after Millie befriended Scorpius, who convinced the Lord of Wrath to not kill his "friends". He never minded whenever Blitzø started ordering him to do something, like devouring a bouncer who rejected their entry at a Lust Ring club, waiting for the imp to give him a signal when the team waited for the hotel crew to arrive at The Deep End, and when Blitzø ordered the Hellcat to lead an offensive attack on Leviathan during the Happy Hotel crew's and I.M.P's battle against the King of Envy, all without ever questioning his orders or so much as an outburst.

Although their relationship had a rocky start, Vortex became one of Scorpius' only friends over time. They first interacted when Vortex prevented Scorpius from harming his boss, Verosika Mayday, getting in between Scorpius and Verosika. The two then had a snarling match when Vortex refused to move, which Scorpius won thanks to his rage powers. However, Vortex was actually impressed by this and laughed their rather tense encounter off, complimenting Scorpius and giving him a pat on the back, which confused Scorpius. After Scorpius began to warm up to the team after Millie befriended him, he began to become friends with Vortex. Vortex often encouraged Scorpius to participate in fun activities, such as inviting the wrathful hellcat to partake in fun activities, such as taking a selfie together with him and Loona while I.M.P were in the Lust Ring.

During I.M.P's fight against the Underground, Scorpius saved Vortex from being killed from behind by a member of the Underground, to which the Hellhound reacted by trying to get Scorpius to high-five him, but Scorpius was only left confused, not knowing what the gesture meant. Vortex could later be seen teaching Scorpius what a high-five was, only to accidentally agitate Scorpius by pulling the "too slow" trick.

Moxxie

Moxxie held great fear of Scorpius for his past deeds, and, unlike Blitzø, tried his best to not arouse the hellcat's ire. Moxxie also initially objected to stealing Scorpius' axe when Blitzø suggested it. Regardless, Scorpius still desired Moxxie's brutal death for stealing his axe.

During the briefing in Lucifer's theater to explain to I.M.P and their "allies" the capabilities of each hotel crew member, Scorpius showed Moxxie a badly drawn image of him decapitating the imp as a non-verbal death threat, which made Moxxie gulp in fear and slumps down in his seat to avoid Scorpius' sight line.

Once on the mission to kill the Happy Hotel crew, Scorpius attempted to decapitate and devour Moxxie twice while on the mission, only to be stopped by Blitzø and Striker, and later Millie respectively. Although, he seemingly has given up on his attempts to kill Moxxie and Blitzø after befriending Millie, who attempts to convince Scorpius to not kill his "friends".

It is difficult to tell what Scorpius felt about Moxxie's presumed death (who actually survived), as he was primarily concerned with comforting his wife and widow, Millie.

When Moxxie and Millie were abducted by Azazel, he was genuinely hurt to see them both coerced into slavery and did nothing to stop it only because of the great fear he had for his master. When Azazel had him and the married imps into fighting off the Uprising, the Hellcat saved Moxxie from being violently murdered by five hellhounds, which Moxxie repaid him by sniping an Uprising sniper before the sniper could take out the Lord of Wrath down. When Scorpius was relaxing in an oasis, he nearly burst into tears in frustration for being unable to help Millie and Moxxie, due to his fear of his master being stronger. After Azazel caught Moxxie being the informant of the Uprising, Scorpius was unable to do anything to stop his master from beating Moxxie to near-death, even after Moxxie sacrificed his own life into reluctantly slaughtering nearly the Uprising to protect Millie, and just sadly stared at both defeated Moxxie and an anguished Millie before returning to his master's fortress.

When Azazel had both Scorpius and Moxxie held into a tournament, Scorpius was initially hesitant into fighting Moxxie, while the imp fought back with all of his might and all of the weapons he had. When Azazel took notice of this, he held Millie by the noose at the threat of her life to motivate him, which caused Scorpius to start fighting back against Moxxie. When he beat Moxxie to unconsciousness, he raised his angelic axe above the imp, while Millie desperately begged him to spare Moxxie's life. Instead, however, Scorpius decided to hurl his axe in Azazel's direction after realizing he would rather die as a warrior than as a slave. When Azazel raised his spear to end Moxxie's life, Scorpius stopped him at the last second, refusing to let him hurt his friends again, showing that the Hellcat developed to care and view Moxxiee as a friend, just as much as Millie.

After Azazel's death, Scorpius' heart was left impaled by his former master, gave his angelic axe to Millie out of honor and complete respect to Millie, and peacefully died, while being surrounded by the only people he had as friends, with it being Moxxie and Millie.

Enemies

Azazel

Azazel was Scorpius' master and arch-enemy. Azazel enslaved Scorpius from the latter's young age and used him as a weapon of war to annihilate the arch imp's opposition and secure power and territory over Wrath. Azazel was perhaps the only thing Scorpius was afraid of, due to his doctrine of mutilating and torturing Scorpius for his failures and displays of "weakness". Azazel did not care about Scorpius at all, always emasculated him to build himself up, and only valued him as a sentient weapon he could use to annihilate, intimidate, and oppress his enemies. Despite his master's constant abuse, Scorpius remained loyal to Azazel and never seemed to be bothered by Azazel's treatment of him, since it would've been seen as a weakness for Azazel to actually value him.

Scorpius' fear of his master surpassed that of his care for both Moxxie and Mille, who were both enslaved and abused, physically, mentally, and psychologically.

After many, many years of constant enslavement and torture, the Hellcat finally stood up to his master after realizing that he would rather die as a warrior than as a slave, before throwing his axe at the arch-mp, causing an explosion with both Azazel and Millie surviving, and the latter being freed in the process. Whatever fear of Azazel he had was nullified when he saved and declared Moxxie as his friend. Because of this, Azazel no longer viewed Scorpius as an effective weapon, but as a weakling, he angrily taunted Scorpius over the latter's father's sacrifice for his son and attempted to beat him to death with his bare hands. The Hellcat, mustering whatever strength he had left, grabbed and bit the King of Wrath's right hand off using his mouth, causing Azazel a completely immense amount of pain. This caused the absolutely enraged Millie to take advantage of this by savagely attacking Azazel by cutting his left hand off, which held a spear that castrated the arch-imp, and finally decapitating him, indirectly causing his arch-enemy's death and finally avenging all the lives that were taken, abused, and tortured by Azazel, both directly and indirectly.

Trivia

  • Scorpius' name is a reference to Scorpius, one of the constellations of the zodiac which is located in the Southern celestial hemisphere.
    • His name also means "Scorpion" in Latin.
  • His theme song would be "Another Way Out" by Hollywood Undead.
  • He was illiterate.
  • According to Moxxie, Scorpius hunted Exterminators every Extermination Day and collected the heads and wings of the ones he killed. According to legends, he claimed his legendary axe from the body of an Exterminator he managed to kill.
  • Despite claiming to be a hellhound, Scorpius lacked a snout. This led many to speculate that he is actually not a hellhound at all. It has also earned him mockery from many denizens of Hell and even other hellhounds, with them jokingly calling him a "Hell-Cat".
    • At one point, Blitzø says that it is not wise to make fun of Scorpius for this, as he is apparently "sensitive" about it, while at the same time joking that Scorpius lost his snout while fighting an Exterminator.
    • It is revealed in Chapter 5 that Scorpius is, in fact, not a Hellhound, and instead belonged to a now-extinct subspecies of demon known as Hellcats, who were wiped out by Azazel and his army.
  • He had a pet hell horse named Mortem.
