"Blitzø: Why... Why ME of all demons? I... I don't even deserve you.
Spindle: I wish I could explain, but you just have to wait, dear. I'll always be here for you. Even when you don't want me to... Even when I have to watch you cry yourself to sleep... I'll follow you until it's your time.
Blitzø: (with tears in his eyes, staring at Spindle with a lost expression) W- What the fuck does that even mean?!
Spindle: (she affectionately nuzzles Blitzø while fading away, briefly taking the form of Tilla in a flash) It means I love you, stupid.
"
— Spindle to Blitzø, before finally leaving him for good.

Spindle is a recurring character in Hazbin Hotel: Journey to the Light.

She is a enigmatic, shape-shifting mare who served as Blitzø's "pet" and spiritual guardian. She possesses distinct qualities that set her apart from Hell's native horses. Spindle often disappears for extended periods, only reappearing when Blitzø requires her assistance.

Biography[]

Background[]

Blitzø's connection with her goes back to a rescue mission when she saved him from being kidnapped. Spindle stayed by Blitzø's side from this moment on, but departed after Blitzø paid for her coffee, considering their "debt" settled. Nevertheless, her loyalty to Blitzø endures, and she continues to watch over him from afar. Spindle's extraordinary abilities include teleportation and telepathic communication with Blitzø, making her an invaluable companion in times of peril.

Chapter 5[]

In "Down at the Ranch", Spindle appears when Blitzø, Moxxie, and Millie are being attacked by Azazel's underlings, much to Blitzø's absolute joy. She wipes out half of Azazel's forces, using her shapeshifting to massacre or brutally devour them, before scooping Blitzø up and getting him out of harm's way.

In "All's Fair in Wrath and War", Spindle finishes whisking Blitzø out of safety, bringing him to the desert of Wrath, to a well leading back to Pride. Blitzø smothers Spindle with love and affection, before mounting her and telling her to trot back to where Moxxie and Millie were kidnapped. When Spindle disobeys Blitzø, the imp tries to run on foot, but Spindle pulls him back by his tail when tries to run off, not wanting him to potentially get himself killed. Blitzø tells Spindle that he has to go back to get Moxxie and Millie because he can't run a business without employees and because they are the only ones who tolerate him (though it is clear that he is genuinely concerned for their wellbeing). Spindle telepathically makes it clear that if Blitzø goes back, she will not follow him. Blitzø turns around and thinks it over, only for Spindle to abruptly vanish before he tries to face her, as Spindle knew he has made up his mind.

In "Goodbye, Spindle", Spindle visits a saddened Blitzø following Stolas' death. After allowing her inside, Blitzø receives a telepathic reprimand from Spindle, who calmly scolds him for burning numerous bridges and persistently evading his past. An overwhelming sense of shame washes over Blitzø as he tearfully attempts to apologize. Yet, Spindle reminds him that actions carry greater weight than mere words, urging him to mend his fractured relationships from the past while there's still time.

In the midst of a complete breakdown, Blitzø implores Spindle to guide him in this endeavor, acknowledging that he often worsens things for those around him and needs help from her to make things right. Spindle dishes out some tough love and advises him to summon courage on his own, warning that guilt will consume him otherwise. A light overtakes the room as Spindle begins to fade away, assuring Blitzø that she will continue to watch over him until an appointed time.

Tearfully, Blitzø questions the meaning of this, prompting Spindle to nuzzle him affectionately and express her love. As Spindle vanishes into the sky, she takes the form of Blitzø's deceased mother. His eyes widening, Blitzø desperately chases after her and begs her not to leave him, struggling to accept that his mother is truly gone.

With Spindle gone, Blitzø collapses to his knees, overwhelmed by a profound sense of loss. However, determined not to disappoint his mother, he gazes at a childhood photo featuring himself, Barbie Wire, and Fizzarolli. With renewed resolve, Blitzø wipes his tears and sets out to repair his past relationships before it's too late.

Personality[]

Spindle is an enigmatic and haunting figure, her emotions often difficult for even Blitzø to discern. Operating from a state of true neutrality, she exhibits unwavering loyalty to Blitzø, consistently safeguarding him in moments of danger. The rationale behind her steadfast protection and subsequent absences remains a mystery.

She does appear quite moral, not only protecting Blitzø from harm but also advising him to mend his broken relationships and avoid running away from his past.

One of the only pieces of info about Spindle that doesn't relate to Blitzø is that she loves coffee.

Although typically passive, Spindle undergoes a dramatic transformation when it comes to defending Blitzø. In the face of threats against him, she becomes fiercely aggressive and poses a grave danger to anyone who seeks to harm him. This is exemplified by her ruthless consumption of Azazel's soldiers when they attempted to capture Blitzø and his associates.

Appearance[]

Spindle manifests as an otherworldly mare with an ethereal presence. Her form is characterized by jet-black skin and a blood-red aura that envelops her, which shifts to a vivid blue when she employs her mystical powers. She possesses a skeletal, almost spectral physique, accentuated by piercing blue eyes. Her large, ever-moving mane adds to her otherworldly aura, in sync with her glitchy energy field that intensifies whenever she undergoes a transformation.

Notably, Spindle boasts sharp teeth, and her elongated, prehensile tongue is a distinctive feature of her eerie visage, adding to her mysterious and enigmatic nature.
