"I relish power and don't give a flying, feathered fuck who I have to go through to get it! I am of noble blood, and thus it is my obligation and my duty to step on the poor little peons to keep the balance between the classes as they should be! (chuckles smugly and sips her wine) If they didn't want to get stepped on, they should have been born into money."
— Stella.

Princess Stella of the Ars Goetia is a supporting antagonist in Hazbin Hotel: Journey to the Light.

She one of the two overarching antagonists of Chapter 4 (alongside Lucifer Magne) and a supporting antagonist in Chapter 5.

She is a wrathful, elitist socialite, and Goetic marquise. She is a former princess consort, being the ex-wife of Stolas, and the mother of Octavia. Having been scorned by her husband's infidelity, she is determined to make his life a living hell and regain her position as a princess or queen.

Biography

Background

Stella's upbringing was one of privilege, resembling the typical indulgent existence of a Goetia demon. Her desires were effortlessly fulfilled, and hard work remained unfamiliar to her. As a child, Stella displayed a disturbing propensity for violence and unpredictability, notably exhibiting a disturbing habit of causing harm to strangling her pet Queives to death. Andrealphus, in particular, asserted that she needed to be put on a leash in public settings. Astonishingly, Stella's parents appeared unfazed by her aggressive outbursts, opting to replace the pets she took the lives of, rather than addressing the deeply concerning behavior. The perpetual pampering she received throughout her life, coupled with subtle insinuations of emotional and sexual mistreatment from Andrealphus, contributed to a profound emotional underdevelopment in Stella.

During her infancy, Stella found herself promised to Stolas, who happened to be Andrealphus' half-brother. As they matured into their late teenage years, the two were united in marriage, driven by the objective of preserving Stolas' lineage through an heir. Stolas genuinely endeavored to provide Stella with contentment and to cultivate a harmonious union, yet Stella persistently exhibited a disposition of mockery and cruelty towards him. She took charge of his affairs and belittled him for any perceived social missteps, imposing her will upon him. Stolas, motivated by a desire to please Stella, often acquiesced to her wishes. Yet, whenever he summoned the courage to assert his own desires, Stella responded with physical violence, using force to suppress any form of defiance. Over time, despite Stolas' profound reservations, the couple managed to conceive a child together, who would later be recognized as Octavia.

While the aggressor in their relationship, Stella appeared to be a victim of their arranged marriage as well; Shaped by a childhood of excess and mistreatment at the hands of Andrealphus, Stella's emotional development remained arrested, leaving her inadequately prepared for the role of a parent. When confronted with the relentless cries of the infant Octavia, Stella's impatience and unresolved emotions frequently boiled over, leading to instances of mistreatment where her exasperation escalated to the point of nearly striking her own infant. However, she would only break down in frustrated tears before anything could happen. In these moments, Stolas consistently stepped forward to take on the responsibilities of parenthood. In a particular past incident, Stella's reluctance to rise from her bed to console a young Octavia following a nightmarish episode was evident. The underlying cause of this behavior remains ambiguous, leaving open the possibility that it could stem from either her lack of enthusiasm for tending to Octavia's needs, or her own fatigue, resulting in her delegating the situation to Stolas.

Much later down the line, The dynamics of Stolas and Stella's marriage took a dramatic turn when Stolas initiated a transactional, sexual relationship with Blitzø, a move that culminated in Stolas publicly humiliating Stella amidst her associates. This occurrence further exacerbated her already volatile temperament, intensifying her outbursts of anger and aggression toward him. Consumed by a vengeful intent, Stella began devising sinister schemes to end Stolas' life, even going to the extent of divulging his arrangement with Blitzø to Lucifer.

Events of Hazbin Hotel: Journey to the Light

Chapter 5

In "A Complete Shitshow", Stella attends a meeting Lucifer holds with the entirety of Hell's nobility. While there, she loudly berates Stolas, her recently divorced husband, for his infidelity in front of everyone, all while Andrealphus watches with joy and eggs them to fight. When Stolas gains the courage to imply that Blitzø was better in bed than her, Stella nearly attacks him, only for Bethesda to put her hand on Stella's shoulder and motions her away, telling Stella to act proper in front of her fellow royals. Bethesda quietly invites Stella to the Envy Ring to discuss certain things, before leaving. Andrealphus makes a mocking comment to Stella, much to her quiet rage.

In "Make New Friends But Keep Roo", Stella goes to her appointment with Bethesda at the latter's new royal castle made in the wake of Castle Von Eldritch's destruction. After catching up on each other's lives, Stella begins angrily discussing Stolas, which Bethesda replies that Stella should have him killed. Stella replies that she has attempted to have Stolas assassinated to no avail, to which Bethesda says that it would be more effective to make Stolas suffer and kill him herself. She suggests to Stella that she would torture and kill I.M.P before hurting Stolas even more by turning Octavia against him, and then killing Stolas once he loses everything, if he hasn't offed himself by that point. Stella loves Bethesda's ideas and compliments her, leading Bethesda to passionately make out with Stella, revealing that the two had established a secret relationship with each other.

Later that day, Stolas' arrest is issued by Lucifer - who has been left paranoid following Stolas' warnings of an impending apocalypse -, but the prince refuses to go quietly when Lucifer's goons come to arrest him, and escapes with his grimoire to parts unknown. Stella takes full advantage of the situation and moves back into Stolas' palace, to which she is granted ownership of all his possessions and political power, and is even granted full custody of Octavia, and expresses her eagerness to use her new-found authority to its fullest extent.

In "Over the Moon in Ecstasy", Stella and her half-brother, Andrealphus, have all of her belongings moved into Stolas' manor. Stella barks orders at her servants to be careful with her possessions and remove Stolas' plants from the greenhouse since Andrealphus wanted to convert it into a room for his ice sculpture collection. Stella then summons a squire to write out all of the oppressive new laws she is imposing on imps, since she now has absolute power over them in Stolas' stead. Stella and Andrealphus begin excitedly thinking about inventive ways to oppress imps, before holding hands and spinning each other while laughing maniacally, all of this while Octavia watches from her bedroom window with a look of dread.

Later that night, Stella invites Bethesda over to the manor, and they find themselves bathing together in a comically large bathtub filled with bubbles. They talk business and family matters, with Stella ridiculing Octavia for worrying about Stolas' wellbeing. While Stella is enjoying wine, Bethesda goes underwater before resurfacing right in front of Stella's face. Bethesda uses her tentacles to drag Stella underwater and creates an air bubble for her. The Queen of Envy then pins Stella to the ground of the tub and calmly tells her that she cannot get complacent until Stolas is dead. Bethesda begins teasing Stella by stroking her body with her tentacles and begins fingering her while telling the Goetia to use Octavia to bring Stolas out of hiding. A flustered Stella nods in agreement before she and Bethesda begin making out with each other, where they unknowingly resurface to a confused imp servant. Stella freaks out at him just before Bethesda grabs the imp with her tentacles and begins drowning him, flirtatiously telling Stella to not tell anyone. The two royals continue making out as the imp's violent struggling slowly becomes weaker.

In "A Dream Realized", Stella is confronted in her office by Octavia, who demands to know what is happening with Stolas after being kept in the dark of what has transpired. Stella begins berating Octavia for her imprudent entrance, only to see that Bethesda is watching them from afar. With Bethesda's advice in mind, Stella tones herself and down and begins insidiously manipulating Octavia, declaring that Stolas never loved her and only saw her as a precautionary heir and "egg", and that he said he would abandon them when she came of age. This utterly devastates Octavia, who begins to believe Stella's lies. Octavia breaks down in tears, inconsolable as her worst fear has, in her mind, come true. Stella dismisses the heartbroken Octavia before sharing a devious grin with Bethesda, who nods at her approvingly.

In "All's Fair in Wrath and War", Stella holds a publicity rally with Andrealphus and a distant Octavia. During the rally, she spews lies about Stolas and his infidelity, before excitedly announcing with Andrealphus that one of her newest laws decrees that imps must sit at the back of public transportation. She goes on to publicly announce her other laws such as gentrifying slums and low-class neighborhoods, and having any homeless imps imprisoned in order to make Hell's cities look more appealing.

Upon returning to the Goetia manor, Stella is visited by Lucifer's squires, Corey and Peel, who inform Stella that Stolas is still missing. Stella is furious to hear this and orders the two to increase the manhunt for Stolas before bluntly excusing them. Unbeknownst to Stella, Octavia, determined to find out the truth of what is going on, eavesdrops on this conversation and sneaks out of the manor to tail Corey and Peel.

Upon learning that Stella had told Lucifer about Stolas' deal with I.M.P to get him and the imps potentially killed, Octavia returns home and tries to stealthily make her way back to the mansion, only to be instantly confronted by Bethesda, Andrealphus, and an angry Stella the second she enters the front door. Stella furiously demands to know why Octavia had left the palace, but Octavia is having none of Stella's lies and berates her mother for putting Stolas in danger and telling her that he had abandoned her, all in an attempt to turn her against him. Stella blames everything that has transpired on Stolas, and reveals to Octavia her intentions to marry Bethesda and rule over the Envy Ring alongside her, trying to sway Octavia with promises of power. This only hammers into Octavia that Stella has only ever cared about power and influence. The Goetia princess declares that she is leaving Stella to find and be with Stolas, but when she tries to leave, Stella grabs Octavia by the arm, refusing to let her go. Stella somehow manages to one-up herself in her quest to be Hell's most repugnant demon when she furiously hits Octavia in the face with enough force to send her to the ground after the princess struggled against her, leaving her face bloodied and bruised. Scared for her life, Octavia runs back to her room - while Stella furiously taunts her along the way- and has an emotional breakdown.

After this blowout, Bethesda calms Stella down by rubbing her shoulders, and although Stella's chances of turning Octavia against Stolas are basically gone, the envious queen still congratulates Stella for punishing Octavia for her defiance. Bethesda assures Stella that they will abandon Octavia once Stolas is dead so she can be someone else's problem, and cheers Stella up by reminding her that they will rule together with virtually limitless power over Envy. Stella and Bethesda do a big evil laugh together, spinning each other around playfully and excitedly before kissing passionately as Andrealphus rolls his eyes and sips his wine.

In "A Behemoth of Fun", Stella and Bethesda announce their engagement to all of Hell, forcing their servants to plaster their faces across all of Pride to let it be known. The evil sapphics celebrate themselves, spending their day drinking and partying until they literally pass out on the floor of the palace. The next day, Octavia has an emotional breakdown over Stella micro-managing her existence and cuts her hair short in an exercise of control. When Stella sees Octavia in this state during their dinner, she is infuriated and berates Octavia. She tells her daughter to wear hair extensions in public, and to be sure no one on the outside sees her in her state.

Later that night, Stella and Bethesda head to their boudoir and Stella begins strip-teasing for Bethesda as the Queen of Envy expresses her satisfaction in Stella in making the lives of the poor a living hell. After getting in bed with each other, Bethesda and Stella have graphic sex, with Bethesda using her tentacles to stimulate Stella as they both become intensely aroused by each other's awfulness, laughing themselves silly as they share ways they can torture Stolas, getting off at the idea of his suffering. Just before they could both have an orgasm, Andrealphus interrupts them and intentionally embarrasses them, leaning in the entrance of their room and informing them both that Princess Charlie is at the door, much to Stella's ire.

After getting dressed, Stella addresses Charlie at the doorway, clearly not having a lot of respect for the Princess of Hell, but feigning it for the sake of reputation. Charlie says that she wanted to know if Octavia was okay, having heard of Stella's divorce with Stolas and engagement. Stella tells Charlie that Octavia is doing better than ever, but Charlie sees through her lies. Taking advantage of Charlie's presence, Stella says that Octavia is "unstable" at the moment and tasks Charlie with sedating her while they rearrange the palace. Charlie accepts Stella's offer, and Stella calls Octavia out. A submissive Octavia exits the palace, and as she walks past her mother, Stella whispers to her Octavia and menacingly grips her shoulder, quietly threatening to harm her if she does anything to make their family look bad, before leaving in cold poise.

In "Old Habits", Stella and Andrealphus are enjoying tea together on the balcony of Andrealphus' palace in Cocytus. Andrealphus informs Stella about his recent confrontation with Stolas and the prince's apocalypse "ramblings", but Stella is not the least bit interested about it, despite Andrealphus believing that it is worth looking into. As Stella sips her tea, Andrealphus summons his grimoire and travels to the center of Cocytus, performing a ritual to find out if Stolas' warnings are true. He travels back to Stella and shows to her that Stolas was not lying, but she barely comprehends any of it and refuses to believe it is true. Despite this revelation, Andrealphus grins and tells Stella that he has a plan on how to use the apocalypse to wipe out all of their enemies while they get to stay alive.

In "Tunnel of Lust", Stella, Andrealphus, and Bethesda are spaing together, generally relishing their lives of excess as usual. Stella flirts with Bethesda until the Queen of Envy leaves to attend to important matters. Stella and Andrealphus begin conspiring with each other, giddily gushing about how they cannot wait for Stolas to be out of the picture. However, the conversation takes a grim turn when Andrealphus snaps at Stella for recommending ways they could kill Stolas. Andrealphus says that if they are killing Stolas, he will be the one who decides the method of execution. Stella, for once, stands up to her half-brother, emboldened by her new-found status of power, but her courage turns to fear when Andrealphus raises his hand at her and threatens to leave her on her own if she refuses to listen to him. Stella's internalized dependence on Andrealphus gets the better of her, and she says that she appreciates every he has done for her. Andrealphus is still furious and cruelly tells Stella that he is the one in charge and will not hesitate to put her in her "place" if she challenges him again.

In "Heaven Meets Hell", upon receiving word from a squire that Octavia has been secured in Andrealphus' palace, Stella responds with a chillingly affirmative. A sinister grin creeps across her face as she directs her gaze skyward, fixating on the stars above. She clutches a blessed firearm in her hands, a harbinger of her nefarious intentions. With an unwavering resolve, she envisions luring Stolas into a decisive confrontation and ending his life once and for all.

In "Extermination Day Part 2: Live Fully, Love Forever", Andrealphus and Stella eagerly await Stolas' arrival, drawing him into a confrontation. While Andrealphus seems in control, Stella is more anxious, inquiring about Bethesda's whereabouts. Andrealphus sharply silences Stella, reminding her that the upcoming events do not concern Bethesda. His ice minions forcefully bring the defiant Octavia into the room and securely bind her with blessed ropes. Andrealphus takes cruel pleasure in taunting Octavia, brandishing a blessed knife and warning her to comply for her own sake. Octavia responds defiantly by spitting in Andrealphus' face, prompting a disgusted reaction. Just as Andrealphus moves to strike her, a mysterious blue portal unexpectedly materializes in the room.

When Stolas appears from the portal, Stella takes charge. She boldly confronts Stolas alongside Andrealphus, firmly holding Octavia and brandishing a knife to her own daughter. Aware of Stolas' power, she takes decisive action, tossing a blessed rope at his feet and demanding he submit himself with it, using Octavia's life as leverage to ensure compliance.

After Stolas reluctantly complies with Stella, using telekinesis to tie himself, Stella hands Octavia over to Andrealphus and begins torturing Stolas with sadistic precision, wielding a blessed knife to torture him while Andrealphus forces Octavia to look on. Throughout the ordeal, Stolas defiantly calls out and challenges Stella's actions, reminding her of her role in their fractured union. Angered by his defiance, Stella arrogantly unveils her sinister plan to make Stolas' death look like a suicide, causing Andrealphus to facepalm at her stupidly revealing her scheme.

After torturing Stolas and making him write his own suicide note, Stella drags him over to Octavia and forces him to tell her that he as prophesied to die a premature death, information that he attempted to shield from her for all of her life. Afterward, she attempts to behead Stolas, but her plan is thwarted by Blitzø's intervention, who uses a Blessing-tipped rifle taken from one of Stella' previous assassination attempts to blast Stella's knife-wielding hand off. Stella wails in pain in I.M.P's intervention allows Octavia to break free from Andrealphus and carry her critically injured father to the castle grounds.

Despite her injury, Stella proves to still be a formidable presence, joining forces with her brother in stopping Stolas and Octavia from escaping. This escalates into a massive fight between the respective familial teams. Octavia incapacitates Stella by freezing her into a block of ice, but Stella is later launched outside the castle grounds of Cocytus when one of Andrealphus' powerful ice blasts combusts against one of Stolas' defensive shields.

In the aftermath of the battle, Stella lays injured and desperate, pleading with Octavia for help, but Octavia just gives her an unforgiving, icy glare, refusing to speak to her. Despite Stella's attempts to reach out, Octavia coldly uses her powers to erect an ice wall, sealing Stella's fate. As Stella's anger turns to fear and the Exorcists close in, she begs Octavia for mercy, but her pleas fall on deaf ears and Octavia turns her back to her mother, leaving. Left alone and abandoned, Stella's rage gives way to desperation; she screams insults at Octavia, saying that she should have killed her at birth. Her final tantrum is then silenced by the sounds of the Exorcists' blades coming down on her.

Personality

"Poor people! Ugh, I'm so glad that they're not allowed into this thing. I don't want them anywhere near me. (laughs) Can you imagine if you didn't have money?"
— Stella.

Stella is an easily angered, controlling, violent, and insanely evil psychopath who revels in how evil and horrible she is, and is completely obsessed with her wealth and social status. Due to having everything handed to her since birth, as well as her half-brother not allowing her to emotionally mature, she is a complete womanchild who expects everyone around her to bend the knee to her will, and reacts violently when things don't go her way or if she is slighted in any perceived way. She openly mocks her husband in front of her associates and flat out admits to her friends that she does not care about her family, baring a child with Stolas only so that they could sire an heir to continue the Goetia lineage. It is worth noting that she tormented Stolas even before he cheated on her, paying back his attempts to start a happy family with mocking cruelty.

She is openly classist and racist, viewing imps as the lowest of the low and making a mockery of the poverty of the less fortunate. Her hatred for imps is to the extent that she set her husband up to be killed by Striker not because he cheated on her, but simply because the prince slept with someone of a lower status. When she successfully usurped Stolas of all his titles until Octavia came of age, she, at the behest of Andrealphus, used her authority to enforce numerous oppressive laws against imps and Hellhounds, such as forcing imps and Hellhounds to sit at the back of public transportation, gentrifying low-end areas inhabited by imps, and making clean water exclusively available to the high born.

Stella is very temperamental and has a notable violent and flat out barbaric side to her when slighted; she goes out of her way to make anyone who scorns her as miserable as possible, abuses her servants and throws objects when going through hissy fits (even nearly hitting Octavia with one of Stolas' demonic plants), she goes as far as to strike or claw at Stolas whenever he gained the courage to stand up to her, and punched Octavia in the face when she struggled against her, showing no remorse for any of these outbursts. She apparently was always a violent psychopath since childhood, with a habit of strangling and murdering all of her pet Queives.

As Stolas claims, Stella is extremely controlling and asserts her dominance over everybody around her. She made herself the head of her family as she saw Stolas as impotent and weak, and micro-managed his and Octavia's public lives. She preferred Stolas to be silent when they attended royal assemblies as to not "embarrass" her, and loathes Octavia's rather casual fashion style, preferring her to wear clothes fit for a royal no matter how uncomfortable. She has said it herself that she loves power and does not care she she has to hurt or kill to get it, including her husband and Octavia.

Despite violence always being a first resort for Stella, she can still be manipulative and deeply sinister when she feels like it or when coached by more sinister associates, filling Octavia's head with lies that Stolas doesn't care about her and will eventually leave her as a way to turn her against him in a sadistic attempt to destroy their father-daughter relationship and deprive Stolas of the person who made his marriage with Stella worth it.

Despite her domineering attitude, Stella clearly has deep, psychological problems stemming from her upbringing, as well as her half-brother, Andrealphus, infantilizing and emotionally abusing her. She has some hidden insecurities and vulnerabilities which can make her the target of manipulation to more cunning demons, such as Andrealphus and Bethesda.

Powers and Abilities

Unique Powers

  • Demonic Power: Being a Goetic demon, Stella would have to be an incredibly powerful demon capable of effortlessly wiping out lower demons such as standard Hellborn, sinners, and the Overlords. Her power was demonstrated in her ability to hurt Stolas through her physical attacks.
    • Enhanced Strength: Stella is strong enough to effortlessly throw imps and pots containing Stolas' demonic plants across a room with only one hand during her outbursts. Her physical strikes are strong enough to damage Stolas and leave visible marks on his face.
    • Flight: Stella can fly and hover through the air without the assistance of wings.
    • Supernatural Voice: Stella's primary power is her very powerful voice. She is capable of shattering glass and producing damaging shockwaves just by screaming. She can use her super-loud screams to stun her targets or, for lesser demons, blast their skin clean off their bodies.

Relationship

Family

Andrealphus

Stella and Andrealphus have a deep-rooted, on-off relationship, though he seems to be one of few demons that Stella respects (or fears, more likely). Andrealphus can occasionally as a mentor figure to Stella, guiding her in the use of the authority and power she wields. Despite Andrealphus' constantly condescending attitude, Stella never really gets angry at him and eagerly takes on his suggestions with little resistance, mostly due to her relishing the opportunity to exercise power.

Andrealphus enjoys ridiculing Stella and is very cruel and emotionally abusive to her, and has been like that since they were children. He constantly infantilizes Stella in order to make her seem stupid and inferior to him so that she feels emotionally dependent on him for everything, which makes her an easy target for his manipulation. Stella also displays uncomfortable and even panicky facial expressions whenever Andrealphus touches or talks down to her, and, despite her fiery personality, seems very vulnerable around him in general, but otherwise goes along with whatever he has up his sleeve.

There are some times where the two manage to bond over their mutual cruelty, as shown by them reveling in Stolas losing everything, as well as them brainstorming ways to oppress imps. They gleefully enjoy each other's malevolence, and revel in the idea of using Stella's authority to enact policies that further marginalize and oppress the lower classes of Hell. From segregating public transportation to bulldozing imp hovels and locking away the impoverished, their actions are aimed at maintaining the status quo and upholding their own privileged positions. They also are frequently shown spaing together.

Stolas

Stolas is Stella's ex-husband. From the moment of their initial encounter, she adopted a pattern of domination and mockery towards him. Well before his transgression involving an imp, Stella subjected him to public ridicule in the presence of her associates, while simultaneously dismissing his efforts to forge a harmonious family life. Whenever Stolas summoned the courage to voice his dissent, Stella resorted to physical aggression, employing punches, slaps, and even viciously clawing at his face. Her spiteful tendencies extended to destroying his treasured collection of demonic plants.

Stella makes her malevolent intent towards Stolas rather transparent, as she openly admits to deriving pleasure from tormenting Stolas and actively reveling in his anguish. Her actions bear testament to her readiness to employ any means necessary to ensure his suffering and leaving him trapped in a continuous cycle of misery.

This all comes to a boiling point when Stella discovers that Stolas had cheated on her by sleeping with an imp. This absolutely infuriated Stella, not because Stolas had cheated on her, but because she did so with a "plebeian" in their own palace. This is what led to Stella hiring Striker to assassinate Stolas, and Stolas eventually gaining the courage to divorce Stella despite her seemingly empty threats.

Even after divorcing Stella, she still found ways to make Stolas' life miserable. She kept throwing assassins at him, and, after Lucifer found out about Stolas' deal with I.M.P and stripped him of nearly all his possessions, moved into Stolas' palace, taking all of his possessions (excluding his grimoire) for herself.

Octavia

Octavia is Stella's daughter. From their interactions, Stella is dismissive of Octavia and the two seem to be very distant, with Stella frequently telling Octavia to not interact with her when she is performing her duties, and Octavia calling Stella "ma'am". Stella only views Octavia both as a means to preserve her reputation, and as a tool she can use to further torment Stolas. She constantly fills Octavia's head with lies that Stolas only views her as simply an heir and will abandon the both of them when she comes of age, all so she can make Octavia hate Stolas and remain on her side. During her fits of rage, Stella has nearly injured Octavia several times (such as when Octavia was nearly hit by one of Stolas' plants when Stella hurled it). Because of this, Stolas would only do something that could upset Stella as far away from Octavia as possible so she would not get caught in the crossfire of their scuffles.

In the glimpses of the past, it becomes evident that Stella harbored resentment towards Octavia in the early days of her daughter's life. Her upbringing, marred by indulgence and abuse from Andrealphus, had arrested her emotional growth, rendering her ill-equipped for parenthood. Faced with Octavia's inconsolable wails, Stella's frustration would often erupt into mistreatment, her patience fraying until she'd even raise a hand to her own infant. Yet, these moments were inevitably followed by her own tears, a poignant surrender that consistently led to Stolas assuming the mantle of parenting.

During Lucifer's gathering of Hell's nobles, Stella was shown laughing hysterically along with her half-brother and Bethesda about Octavia being in emotional turmoil over the possibility of being abandoned, showing that she also very much revels in Octavia's anguish. It was also mentioned by Octavia herself that during the massive flood caused by Leviathan, Stella barricaded herself in her bedroom without Octavia, either forgetting or not even bothering to make sure her own daughter was safe.

After Stolas' royal status was rescinded and Stella was given all of his titles and positions as insurance, Stella began attempting to manipulate Octavia into hating Stolas in order to keep her on her side, at the behest of Bethesda. Her attempt to turn Octavia against her father was initially somewhat successful, until Octavia discovered that Stella had intentionally been trying to get Stolas killed for his infidelity. Enraged by her mother would try to have Stolas killed, Octavia confronted Stella and disowned her as her mother before attempting to leave the palace. Stella refused to let Octavia go and went as far as to assault her daughter for fighting against her, telling the terrified Octavia that she would never leave her until she turned 18 and Stolas was dead.

After this, Stella continued to keep Octavia under her thumb, forcing her daughter to wear clothing fit for a royal, regardless of how uncomfortable Octavia found it. When lending Octavia to Charlie until the Goetia palace was finished with renovations, Stella subtly threatened to hurt Octavia if she tried to escape.

In the climactic showdown with Stolas, Stella demonstrated little reluctance in exploiting Octavia as bait, disregarding her daughter's safety. She tortured Stolas in front of Octavia, then coerced him into revealing his foretold death, a secret he had sought to protect Octavia from. As Octavia attempted to flee with Stolas, aided by I.M.P, Stella and Andrealphus prevented their escape, initiating a confrontation. During the fight, Octavia encased Stella in ice, rendering her immobile.

In the aftermath, after Stella was propelled outside of the castle grounds, Octavia used her powers to summon giant icy barriers, denying Stella reentry. Unmoved by Stella's pleas, Octavia gave her mother a cold glare, not forgiving her for the havoc Stella wrought upon her and Stolas. Stella spent her final moments cursing Octavia as the latter walked away, leaving Stella to her fate.

Allies

Bethesda Von Eldritch

Stella and Bethesda were close associates and confidential lovers. They appeared to have a lust for each other, finding their inhumanity to be attractive, and tend to brainstorm ways to make their enemies suffer. Before establishing a relationship with each other, they frequently found each other in the other's company as socialites, delighting in discussing and spreading the latest gossip. Later, following Leviathan's demise and, both of them joined forces and became deeply involved in plotting against Stolas.

While scheming together, Bethesda is clearly the more cunning and strategic of the two, suggesting to Stella alternative methods to achieve their goals, such as targeting Stolas' allies and exploiting the prince's emotional vulnerabilities. Stella, while initially frustrated by her failed attempts to eliminate Stolas directly and concocting plans that would only benefit them on the short-term, seemed receptive to Bethesda's suggestions and displays a willingness to employ more subtle and insidious tactics after a little explaining.

Their conversation also reveal a degree of intimacy and trust between them, both emotionally and physically. They share secrets, gossip, ideas, and plans freely, demonstrating a level of trust and understanding despite their immorality. When Stella took over Stolas' palace, Bethesda would frequently visit, where she spent most of the time with Stella, at one point even bathing with her. Despite their apparent camaraderie, their relationship is also somewhat transactional, with each woman seeking to further her own agenda, with Stella using Bethesda's advice to overthrow Stolas and tarnish his family name. Stella values Bethesda's strategic insight and appreciates her companionship, while Bethesda likely sees Stella as a means to advance her own ambitions.

Secretly, Stella is rather submissive to and intimidated by Bethesda, due to the Queen of Envy's superior power and rank, and feels inferior while in her presence. Bethesda is very much aware of the dichotomy between them, and uses this to her advantage to manipulate and use Stella for her own ends. Bethesda seems to enjoy asserting her dominance over Stella, reminding her of their shared goals and the need to remain focused on gaining power. Bethesda enjoys flustering Stella, using her tentacles to tease and pleasure Stella, all while discussing their plans.

Chapter 4

"Bethesda: Just yesterday, some homeless dreg asked me for a sliver of money, you know, for his family or some bullshit like that...
Stella: Oh, PLEASE tell me you proceeded to strangle that little fuck?
Bethesda: Oh, Lady Stella, how dare you assume so little of me! I fed him and his family to the Kraken. (she and Stella laugh loudly) You really think I'd soil myself, touching a piece of shit?
Stella: I just pity the Kraken! (she and Bethesda laugh again)
"
— Bethesda and Stella in a flashback, engaging in "rich people talk" at a high-society gathering.

Chapter 5

"Bethesda: Perhaps you ought to kill him.
Stella: Don't you think I've fucking tried?! I even contracted some plebeian who managed to get his hands on one of Carmilla Carmine's rifles, and even he couldn't do it!
Bethesda: Well, of course. Why send a lowborn to do a woman's job?
Stella: What exactly are you implying?
Bethesda: Don't be so humble, Lady Stella. You are a learned woman. Why employ such military tactics when you can destroy Stolas from the inside?
Stella: (smirking) Go on.
Bethesda: (chuckles) I recommend you start with that little imp group Lucifer told us about. First the hellhound, the weapon's expert, the cousin-fucking lowborn, and then, of course...
Stella: That filthy, lizard plebeian. I'll kill that little fucker right in front of Stolas, and then he'll follow suit!
Bethesda: Ah, ah, ah... Tad too hasty on that last bit. Rather, just when he's thought you've taken everything you could from him, then you take away his heart.
Stella: And put it on display? What an astute idea!
Bethesda: (shakes her head) No. (she looks at a portrait of Stolas and Octavia) His HEART.
Stella: (gasps) ...Of course! Octavia! I'll ensure she sees Stolas for the pathetic failure he truly is! He'll never see her again, not until she laughs alongside me when I slit his throat! Ugh, but she was also such an ungrateful child, though. She always preferred him, for some unsatanly reason...
Bethesda: If she stays loyal to him, you'll just have to remind the brat of her place. She's only a precautionary heir, after all. Once he's out of the picture, you can do whatever you want with her. Make her an extension of your own being. How do you think I've kept Hellsa on a leash for so long?
Stella: Lady Bethesda, what would I do without you?! (laughs) Oh, I just love the ideas that spawn from that fucked up mind of yours!
Bethesda: (she slowly puts her hair-tentacles on Stella, before using them to pull her into a very passionate kiss for several seconds, pushing her up against a wall) Oh... How I've missed these sessions of ours...
Stella: (chuckles) But now we can rendezvous whenever we want. (she smooches Bethesda) No annoying men, no ungrateful children...
Bethesda: (she and Stella continue kissing passionately) Just... Us... Girls.
"
— Bethesda and Stella conspiring together.
"Stella: Be careful with my belongings! If I see one chip on any of those satandamn paintings, your whole family will LOSE THEIR HEADS!!! Get all of his crap out of the bedroom and make it my new boudoir!!! (to a group of imp servants coming out of the bedroom) JUST WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?! This area is off-limits to the likes of you! Go to the greenhouse, I said! FINAL WARNING!!! (groans) The standards in this place have really gone to shit since I've been gone...
Imp Servant: About the greenhouse, ma'am? He left his plants behind...
Stella: Oh, enough with the stupid, silly plants! Throw them all out and let them wither away! Andrealphus wants the greenhouse for his ice sculpture collection.
Andrealphus: (holding up a baby, hand-sized venus fly trap that repeatedly tries to snap at his face) Oh, Stol-ass. Always obsessing and talking to these hideous things. Could it be schizophrenia, or the sad loneliness of an old man in need of a pity-fuck? Sad! (he uses his ice powers to freeze the plant to death) A little frost should be enough to dispose of his little 'friends'! Oh, and the bigger plants should be just perfect for kindling!
Stella: (laughs) Excellent idea, brother dearest!
"
— Stella and Andrealphus moving into Stolas' manor.
"Andrealphus: You know, (he moves both of his hands up Stella's hips as she looks in embarrassment) my shapely little songbird, now that you have acquired Stolas' position until Via comes of age, you might want to consider... You know... Using it?
Stella: Oh, yes! I'll send even more assassins after him!
Andrealphus: (he sighs a little) Well, yes, but my implication was you could use this power on a... Wider scale? (Stella still looks clueless; Andrealphus facepalms) Oh! Use your new-found authority to oppress the lower caste, you embarrassing, brainless b-... I mean beauty.
Stella: Ah, I see what you're getting at. And that is... I should be a more tyrannical ruler. (she grins evilly) And you shall be my advisor.
Andrealphus: Well done, sister! You're getting a little less slow in your old age! (he pats her on the head condescendingly)
Stella: I am, aren't I?! (shouting) SQUIRE!!! (an imp squire runs up and begins writing Stella's words on a scroll) As monarch of Hell's imp caste henchforth until Octavia's coronation, I declare that all imps and hellmutts are to sit at the back of public transportation!
Andrealphus: Ugh, how has that not already been passed?!
Stella: I know, right?! (to the squire) And furthermore, all those filthy, unazathothly imp hovels are to be bulldozed to make way for more prosperous housing!
Andrealphus: (he titters) Indeed! Oh, and of course all those filthy, flea-ridden tramps on the streets are to be locked away for no one to ever lay eyes on again! Pride has an image to upkeep!
Stella: (she laughs and locks hands with Andrealphus) You little, scheming snowman!
Andrealphus: You despicable feather duster! (the siblings cackle maniacally)
Stella: Clean water for highborn and highborn only!
Andrealphus: Waiting rooms, drinking fountains and schools are to be segregated!
Stella: And, of course-
Andrealphus/Stella: Any convicted lowborn must suffer generational punishment!
Andrealphus: Ooh, fun for the whole family! (he and Stella continue to lock hands and spin each other around, laughing maniacally)
"
— Andrealphus manipulates Stella into oppressing the lower class.
"Octavia: Mum...
Stella: Ugh, what the fuck is it this time?! (she looks up to see Octavia) Oh... Octavia. Young lady, didn't we have a talk about interrupting me when I'm executing my duties?
Octavia: (hangs her head) Apologies, ma'am.
Stella: Humph. Spit out your query. Quick.
Octavia: Why... Why is this all happening? Dad is gone, you've taken over his duties. It just seems like... Our world's been turned upside down. I'm always left standing in the dark... Just please help me understand.
Stella: Stol-ass this! Stol-ass that! Is that miserable excuse of a man all that occupies your mind?! (Stella pauses and looks over Octavia's shoulder to see Bethesda staring at her from another room; with this in mind, she eases up) Oh, darling... I had hoped this day would never come, but, of course, I expected as much from that embarrassment you call a father.
Octavia: What is that supposed to mean?!
Stella: From the moment we were arranged, he always said that all our child would ever be to him was an 'egg', and the second it came of age, he would leave all of us behind, and well... (Octavia's eyes widen) Oh, you'll figure it out. You're a smart woman.
Octavia: But... That- that- That's not true! He said he loved me! That he would never even entertain the thought of leaving me!
Stella: (grinning) Oh, he told you that, too? (snickers) And yet, here we are! Now that you're of age, he's broken our family, our household! Left us for a scum-sucking lowborn!
Octavia: (shakes her head vigorously, desperately fighting back tears) No, no, no! YOU'RE FUCKING LYING!!! He said everything would be ok! (voice breaking) HE SAID HE WOULD NEVER LEAVE ME! (she breaks and begins crying into her hands, slumping to the floor) It all meant nothing to him...? He always seemed so happy... You were happy together!
Stella: (with a smug smile) I only pretended to make you happy, and he, well, it was a mask, Octavia. All those silly carnival trips, all those proclamations of love, they were about as meaningful as his dignity. I spent 17 years telling you he would disappear one day and never come back, so don't pretend to act surprised! (Octavia continues to cry into her knees, heartbroken, as Stella sneers down at her) I'm the only one you can trust, and he will get what he deserves for embarrassing me. (Octavia raises her head, tears still streaming down her cheeks) Ugh! Darling, your makeup is running. Pick yourself up, return to your room, and don't come back until you look presentable. (Octavia quickly leaves the room with a broken expression; once she is gone, Stella and Bethesda share devious grins)
"
— Stella manipulates Octavia.
"Andrealphus: Aaand the runaway has returned! (to Stella) I told you she'd be back, sister dearest!
Stella: Where have you been, young lady?!
Octavia: You lied to me.
Stella: I did what?! Start making sense and speak up!
Octavia: You fucking lied to me! You told Lucifer about dad's deal, didn't you?!
Stella: He knew the rules and laws! What irresponsible fuckwit hands our ancestral grimoire to an outfit of lowborns for a pity-fuck?! He deserves whatever comes his way!
Octavia: I don't care! He's my father, and you're trying to get him killed! You don't give a fuck about me, do you?! You just want to destroy everything that brings him happiness!
Andrealphus: (with a mocking puppy-dog frown) Aw! (grins smugly) Breaks one's heart, doesn't it?
Stella: (with an irritated sigh) I don't have time for all this drama. He brought this madness onto us. (she puts her hands on a disgusted Octavia's shoulders) But I'm going to right all of his wrongs. (motions to Bethesda) Lady Bethesda is going to be your stepmother.
Octavia: W... WHAT?!
Andrealphus: (gasps loudly) What a twist!!!
Stella: Once Stolas is out of the picture, I will wed Bethesda and we will rule together. You will be the new Princess of Envy and retain your position as our heir! Does that not appeal to you?
Octavia: (she shoves Stella off of her) YOU'RE A FUCKING HYPOCRITE! All you've ever cared about is status and influence!
Andrealphus: (to Octavia; laughing) What took you so long to realize?!
Stella: YOU DARE TO ACCUSE YOUR MOTHER?!
Octavia: YOU'RE NOT MY MOTHER!!! (the room falls silent as Stella glares at Octavia angrily) ...You destroyed our home and tried to destroy our lives! (she goes to leave the house)
Stella: Where the fuck do you think you're going?!
Octavia: Finding him. I'm not going to stay here and be jailed by you. You will never see me again, and you'll only know my name. Not like you've ever cared to notice me, anyway.
Stella: NO!!! NO!!! (she grabs Octavia by her wrist)
Octavia: LET GO OF ME! (she shoves Stella off of her)
Stella: GAH! OH, YOU- (she violently punches Octavia, knocking her to the ground) FUCKING BRAT!!!
Octavia: (stunned, she struggles to get back up, wiping her face to see blood on her hands through blurry vision) H- H- How could you...
Stella: YOU DO NOT ASSAULT YOUR OWN MOTHER! Have you completely lost your fucking dignity?! (Andrealphus grins evilly and uses his powers to freeze the front door shut) When you turn 18, you can go live in the fucking slums for all I care, but until that happens and your whore of a father is dead, you live under MY roof and MY laws! DO YOU UNDERSTAND?! (Octavia begins hyperventilating before running upstairs to her room) THERE YOU GO!! YOU REALLY ARE HIS DAUGHTER!!! YOU'RE JUST LIKE HIM, RUNNING AWAY INSTEAD OF FACING ME LIKE A MAN! (punches a wall) FUCK YOU!!!
"
— Stella being confronted by Octavia for her lies.
"Bethesda: (sighs) The riff-raff are always giving us a difficult time. All we ask is to be worshipped, adored, and most importantly, obeyed. Is that too much to ask, Lady Stella?
Stella: Too much? My, it's far too little, I daresay! I swear to fuck, plebeians think they can do anything these days, without any consideration for us higher beings. It truly is a disgusting situation, isn't it? (they both sip from their glasses) I guess you could consider us slightly narcissistic... But then again, when you're as perfect as we are... (she and Bethesda both laugh snottily)
"
— Stella and Bethesda conversing.
"(an injured Stella lays on the ground, seeing Octavia through blurred vision) Octavia... Child, you must help me! (Octavia stares at Stella with an unforgiving, icy glare) Are you DEAF, girl?! Cease your gawking and HELP YOUR FUCKING MOTHER!!! (the injured Stella tries crawling to Octavia, only for the latter to block Stella off by conjuring an ice wall) What?! HOW DARE YOU!!! (Octavia turns her back to Stella and begins walking away, Stella's anger turns to fear as she spots the Exorcists descending upon her) Child... OCTAVIA! PLEASE HELP ME, I BEG OF YOU!!! You don't have to do this! FOR THE LOVE OF AZATHOTH, PLEASE!!! (Octavia continues walking away, Stella clenches her fists so hard that it produces blood and she begins thrashing around in a violent, petulant tantrum) YOU UNGRATEFUL PIECE OF FUCKING DREK!!!! I SHOULD HAVE CLAWED OUT YOUR FUCKING THROAT WHEN YOU CRAWLED OUT OF ME!!! YOU'RE JUST LIKE YOUR SACK OF IMPSHIT FATHER!!! YOU FUCKING AZATHOTHDAMN CU-"
— Stella's final words to Octavia before she is slain by the Exorcists.

Trivia

  • Her theme song would be "Evil Woman" by Electric Light Orchestra.
    • Stella and Bethesda's theme song would be "Tough Love" from The Villains Lair.
  • She is a swan and peahen hybrid.
  • Like all female Goetia demons, Stella gives birth by laying eggs.
  • According to Andrealphus, Stella had to be kept on a leash when she was a child.
  • Ironically, despite viciously berating Stolas for his infidelity, Stella is revealed in "Make New Friends But Keep Roo" to have been cheating on Stolas for quite some time with Bethesda, possibly even before Stolas' deal with Blitzø. Stella's only excuse for this is that she at least had the "dignity" to sleep with someone of the same social class.
