- "Someone please help me..."
- — Tom Trench's hushed cry for help before a commercial break.
Tom Trench is a recurring character in Hazbin Hotel: Journey to the Light.
He is a neutral 666 News anchor and Katie Killjoy's co-worker, as well as a frequent victim of her cruelty.
Personality[]
Tom Trench is a fairly normal and pleasant sinner for someone damned in Hell. He is far more approachable and friendly than his co-worker, acting fairly polite to guests during interviews. Still, he often shows a perverted side as he does not hesitate to crack a sexual jokes abouts others, such as quipping about nailing Cherri Bomb's "hotspot". Later, he immediately recognized Angel Dust as a porn star when Charlie namedropped him.
He seems to be far more moral than his co-worker, as he disapproved of Killjoy's treatment of Charlie and often tries to talk Katie out of doing something morally dubious, such as spreading misinformation on the Hazbin Hotel. He also does not enjoy turf wars or unfortunate events as much as Katie does, and outright lashed out at her for trying to find a way to blame Leviathan's flood on Charlie, even attacking Killjoy for the first time over this.
Tom is very skittish and unassertive, allowing Killjoy to abuse him without putting in any serious effort to defend himself. He seems to be outright terrified of Katie, as well as his boss, Vox, trying his best to not do anything that would set the former off. Before commercial breaks, he will often quietly beg the audience to save him, knowing he will face Killjoy's wrath for his slip-ups once the news goes off the air. However, he did stand up to and even fight back against Killjoy during the aforementioned flooding of Hell.
Appearance[]
Tom is a humanoid sinner with a head and neck that is covered with an expressive gas mask, which is assumed to be his actual face. He has ashy blonde hair and wears a grey suit, with a bluish-white undershirt, black gloves, a red tie, and a red pocket square.
Trivia[]
- He hosts his own special report segment on the 666 News called In the Trenches with Tom Trench.
- His name references a type of land warfare using occupied lines largely comprising military trenches, in which troops are well-protected from the enemy's small arms fire and are substantially sheltered from artillery.
