- "Vagatha, ¿por qué estás parado ahí? Solo parado allí y perdiendo el tiempo de todos. No vales nada y mereces morir solo. Incluso tu mamá y tus hermanas pensaron eso. ¿Por qué te quedas en ese hotel? Todo el mundo te odia. Déjalos y te dejaré en paz. Déjalos antes de que te dejen. ¿Crees que me gustaba tocarte y lastimarte? Asqueroso desperdicio de vida. No vales nada, y eso es todo lo que jamás serás; una puta estúpida y sin valor."
- — Vaggie hallucinating her father speaking to her while she was attempting to make a difficult decision.
Vaggie's father is an unseen character in Hazbin Hotel: Journey to the Light.
He is the father of Vaggie and her three sisters with a large influence over her afterlife.
Biography[]
Background[]
In the past, Vaggie's father started a family with an unnamed woman. He was incredibly abusive and unfeeling towards his daughters, emotionally, physically, and likely sexually. He had a particular hatred and lustful obsession for his oldest daughter, Vaggie, viewing her as a disappointment and "waste of life", putting high expectations on her since she was his first daughter. It was implied that when Vaggie got older, her father forced her into what was essentially underage prostitution to support their family's recurring financial problems.
During one particularly violent argument, Vaggie's father assaulted her over her meager earnings, but this time his daughter, now an adult, fought back. He was enraged by this and hit her in the left eye with a bottle of alcohol, permanently mangling her eye. In a blind panic, Vaggie retaliated by killing her father with a kitchen knife when he pursued and continued to attack her.
His treatment of Vaggie left a deep, psychological mark on her, even in afterlife, sparking her distrust of men and disdain for alcohol. Whenever she becomes overwhelmed, she would occasionally hear her father's voice making incredibly negative and dehumanizing remarks.
Personality[]
Vaggie's father is presented as an emotionally abusive and manipulative alcoholic, especially towards Vaggie. He also seems to have a disdain for women, making horribly misogynistic remarks about Vaggie, such as the way she dresses and accusing her of spending the money she earned from sex work on herself. He is also implied to have forced Vaggie into underage prostitution to financially support their family. He had sexual feelings towards his own daughters, and is strongly implied to have acted on them regularly.
Vaggie often hallucinates her father's voice when put in uncomfortable situations or making decisions, often in the form of him saying extremely negative statements, such as the hotel crew hating her, calling her worthless, and telling her to kill herself.
