Vortex is a supporting character in Hazbin Hotel: Journey to the Light.
He is a friendly and approachable, if intimidating, Hellhound, and the bodyguard of pop star Verosika Mayday. He is also the boyfriend of Bee-lzebub and lover of Bub.
Personality[]
Vortex is a chill and very friendly Hellhound, despite his intimidating appearance. Despite actively protecting Verosika, he is rather distant about her squabbles and has no personal malice towards any of her enemies, claiming he is "just along for the ride". He is very friendly towards Loona, despite her belonging to a faction that Verosika that was actively feuding with, inviting her to his girlfriend's party, and even comforted her when she became emotional over the trauma she endured at the Hellhound Adoption Foundation. He also befriended Scorpius, despite their first interaction being anything but friendly, even giving him a high-five and inviting him into his and Loona's selfies. Following Belphegor's death (albeit temporarily), he joined the Hellhound Revolution in freeing Hellhounds from the Hellhound Adoption Center and slowly turning the Sloth Ring back into the Hellhound utopia it once was.
While Vortex holds no animosity towards any of Verosika's enemies, he is still quite loyal to her and even has a friendly relationship with her, and thus will not hesitate to violently apprehend or outright assault anyone who tries to attack her. He showed his full ferocity when he attacked members of the Underground who attempted to kill I.M.P and the hotel crew, tearing several demons limb-from-limb and biting their heads off.

Natural Powers[]
- Human Shapeshifting: Vortex is capable of easily shifting into his human disguise when traveling to Earth.
- Immortality: Vortex has an incredibly long lifespan, allowing him to potentially live indefinitely.
- Superhuman Strength: Vortex is incredibly strong, this being the reason why he was enlisted to protect Verosika. At one point, he punched a human so hard into the ground that they were almost completely buried. During I.M.P's fight against the Underground, he sliced one demon into pieces using his claws, used his teeth to tear another demon's head off, and grabbed another demon by the leg and slammed them into the ground so hard that parts of their body exploded.
Unique Powers[]
- Enhanced Speed: Vortex can move at an impressively fast speed despite his large size, dashing several feet in an instant to knock out a human who approached Verosika.
Abilities[]
- Intimidation: Vortex's imposing stature allows him to potentially scare off would-be assailants. He frightened Blitzø when the imp approached Verosika, and even Fergus freaked out, ran away, and even screamed like a girl when he saw him, Loona, and Scorpius for the first time.

Vortex: (laughs heartily) Damn, girl, you're ballsy! No way in Hell you're gonna do something that!

Vortex: Sure. What's on the table?
Loona: Remember when I said we would go party in Gluttony when this is over? You gotta buy me an all-you-can-eat buffet if I say it.
Vortex: (smiles confidently) Y'know what? Deal. It's your funeral.
Loona: (laughs before taking a beat) ...You, uh, wouldn't let that happen, would you?
Vortex: (chuckles) Nah. I got your back.

Vortex: Eh... To tell you the honest, I think you're a bit too hard on your old man. You have an owner who cares about you, Loon. Not many Hellhounds are that lucky.
Loona: Uh... (sighs) Yeah, I guess... So! (laughs nervously) Uh, any childhood trauma?
Vortex: (laughs) Uh... One time, my old man left me in the woods and wouldn't let me back in the house until I caught a Hellbat. (he points to his scarred eye) That's how I got this.
Loona: You got lucky. I was a Hellhound who was born in the Sloth Ring.
Vortex: Oof... That's rough. Us Hellhouds get treated like dogshit over there.
Loona: Rough? I spent my childhood in an orphanage. I never even knew my family because of those fucking assholes. Fuckers used to beat me black and blue just because I took off my goddamn shock collar. Yeah, rough.
Vortex: I'm... I'm sorry to hear that, Loona. (he puts his paw on her shoulder) If you don't wanna talk about it, that's okay.
Loona: (she looks up at him sadly before looking down) They were gonna... (voice breaking) Put me down until Blitz...
Vortex: Hey, hey. (he gently makes her face him) You're safe and in a better place. Nothing good ever came from dwelling on the past. We have your back. (he smiles) Alright?
Loona: Yeah... (she smiles slightly) That's good to know." - — Loona opens up about her traumatic childhood to Vortex while they were at The Deep End.

Loona: (panting) Yeah... Yeah... You?
Vortex: Yeah, I'm good. (he pins one of Alastor's dolls, uses his jaws to tear its head off, and tosses it at Loona, who kicks it into three dolls) I can't believe you actually did that! Satan!

Vortex: Fucking idiot? (he chuckles) Try fucking awesome.
Loona: (she stops fighting the dolls and turns to Vortex) Wait, really?
Vortex: (he turns to Loona) I thought I met all the Hellhounds in the seven rings with the biggest balls- (he stops a leaping doll by catching it mid-air) -but you take the cake, girl.
Loona: (she laughs and blushes) Uh, thanks...? (she nonchalantly kicks an approaching doll in the face, not taking her eyes off of Vortex) And by the way... You owe me that all-you-can-eat buffet. (she grins)
Vortex: (his smile turns into an expressionless face) Thanks for the reminder, Loon, but right now... We might wanna focus on the pissed off Rado Demon." - — Vortex and Loona's conversation while they were battling Alastor's doll minions.

- During a conversation with Loona during I.M.P's visit to The Deep End, Vortex states that he was born in the Gluttony Ring and that he got his scar while hunting a Hellbat at the behest of his father.
- The name "Vortex" refers to a "mass of whirling fluid and or air" akin to that of a whirlpool or whirlwind.
- Vortex is the first male hellhound shown in Helluva Boss, and the first male hellhound shown in the Hazbin Hotel franchise as a whole.
